Willard Bryant Davis
Willard Bryant Davis, 64, of Shawnee died Thursday.

He was born Oct. 5, 1938, in Chickasha to Luke Davis and Seresta A. Shazier.

He was graduated from Dunbar High School and then attended culinary school in The Dallas, Ore., and Oakland, Calif.

Davis was raised in Shawnee, spending time in Oregon and California before returning to Shawnee in 1985.

In 1958, he married Shirley Brown in Oakland, Calif.

He had worked as head chef at the Shawnee Country Club. He also cooked at the Cinderella Hotel, The Delta Cafe and Firelake Restaurant.

Davis organized and operated a free breakfast for children in Shawnee every Saturday for many years out of his home cafe.

He was a member of the Bethel AME Church.

Preceding him in death were his father, Luke Davis; his mother, Seresta Shazier; son, Luke Davis; sister, Francis Johnson; brother, William Davis; stepmother, Geneva Davis; an adopted daughter, Taz Talton; and niece, Serita Davis.

Survivors include his wife Shirely Davis of Richmond, Calif.; three daughters and one son-in-law, Brenda and Steve Walker of Vallejo, Calif., Terese Davis of Vallejo, Calif., and Caroline Davis of Oakland, Calif.; stepdaughter, Angelina Posey of Richmond, Calif.; six sons, Roderick Johnson of Topeka, Kan., Maury Bray of Shawnee, Carlos Davis and Kevin Davis of Richmond, Calif., and Derrick Davis and Matthew Davis, both of Lansing, Mich.; three sisters, Arnell Prince of Shawnee, Danise Baker of Oakland, Calif., and Sonya and the Rev. Kellis Love of Oakland, Calif.; two uncles, Charles Walker of Kansas City, Mo., and Leo Horne of Topeka, Kan.; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Wilbert L. Tripplett officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Richard Eugene Fields
Richard Eugene Fields, 63, of Shawnee died Thursday at a local nursing home.

He was born Feb. 22, 1940, in Shawnee to R.T. and Wilma Fields.

He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1958.

He was employed as a designer with Brown Furniture Company for the last nine years. He was also a caterer, well-known for his culinary work.

After living many years in Carmel, Calif., he moved home to Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his father, R.T. Fields on Jan. 2, 1991, and his mother, Wilma Fields on Dec. 5, 1992.

Survivors include brothers, Ronnie Fields of Houston and Robert Fields of Midwest City; aunts, Hortense Sprayberry of Fresno, Calif., and Lavite McBride of Shawnee; and nieces, Kristi Batterson of Oklahoma City and Courtney Clevenger of Del City; and many friends.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Rutherford officiating. The casket will be open at the funeral home and will not be opened at the cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice.

Sally Crow Reavis
Sally Crow Reavis, 101, of Shawnee died Friday at a local hospital.

She was born April 3, 1901, in Marble City, Ark., to James Robert Truelove and Arminda Matilda (Stacey) Truelove.

She grew up in Missouri and Arkansas and attended school there.

She was a homemaker.

She married Will Crow on Nov. 12, 1917, in Harrison, Ark. He preceded her in death in 1970. She later married Earl Reavis in 1971.

She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church of Shawnee.

She had lived in Shawnee for about 80 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter, Pauline Steven; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Billy Gene and Joyce Crow of Shawnee; daughter, Modena Craven of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren and their spouses, Ricky and Claudia Crow of Shawnee, Teresa and Rick Cody of Shawnee, Kent and Kathy Crow of Shawnee, Sherri and Terry Compton of Shawnee, Kenneth and Dena Crow of Shawnee, Norman Craven Jr. of Las Vegas, Ronnie Craven of Las Vegas, Van Craven of Las Vegas, Michael Steven of Wichita, Kan., and Shelly and John Taylor of Wichita; 15 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Fairview Baptist Church of Shawnee with the Rev. Richard Stillwell officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park of Shawnee.

Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee.

Memorials donations may be made to Fairview Baptist Church of Shawnee.

Paul Webb
Tecumseh native Paul Webb, 75, died March 1 in Lubbock, Texas.

Services were held Thursday in New Mexico. Burial was at Santa Fe National Cemetery of Santa Fe, N.M., under the direction of Muffley Funeral Home.

Charles Victor Pearce
Shawnee resident Charles Victor (Charlie) Pearce, 76, died Thursday at a local hospital.

A graveside service will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery with the a representative from the Veterans of Foreign Wars officiating. Services are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Dema L. Sloan
Dema L. Sloan, 83, of Maud, a former long-time Ada resident, died Friday at Sunset Estates of Maud. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park in Ada. Further information is pending with Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Gertie Stephens
Gertie Stephens, 83, of Shawnee died Wednesday in an Oklahoma City hospital.

She was born March 11, 1918, in Mena, Ark., the daughter of Mart and Zola (Sartin) Leming.

Stephens grew up and attended school in Sulphur.

She worked as a beautician for 48 years. During that time, she owned and operated Styla Beauty Salon for a period of time.

She married Cecil C. Stephens on June 21, 1935, in Sulphur.

Stephens was a charter member of Westgate Free Will Baptist Church and had lived in Shawnee for 60 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Clarence Leming; a sister, Elsie Aldridge; a son-in-law, Hilton A. Phillips; a grandson, Ron Wyrick; a son, DeLoyd Stephens; and a daughter, Jayne McGarry.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Freda and Ed Mize of Shawnee; a daughter, Donnie Phillips of Garvin, Okla.; a daughter-in-law, Betty Stephens of Hobbs, N.M.; a sister, Nona Love of Sulphur; 13 grandchildren, Jerry Wyrick of Houston, Rick Wyrick of Bethel, Terri Phillips of Dallas, Brad Phillips of Garvin, Kristi Phillips of Carrolton, Texas, and Stephen McGarry, Patrick McGarry, Mark McGarry, Colleen Motta, Janie Voita, Jan Andrews, Marsha Stephens and Shelly Murphy; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A service will be 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Bryant and Delbert Akin officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

The family has designated the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road N.E., Atlanta, GA 30329 as appropriate for memorial contributions.

Arrangements are being handled by Resthaven Funeral Home.

Dorothy J. White
Dorothy J. White, 78, Norman, died Friday in Norman.

She was born Nov. 23, 1924, in Wapello, Iowa, to Harry O. and Nola May (Grasham) Marshall.

White attended school in Wapello, Iowa, where she graduated from high school. She then attended nursing school in an Iowa hospital and earned her LPN.

She married Robert White in Rock Island, Ill., on Oct. 24, 1957.

She worked as an LPN at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and was a homemaker.

White lived most of her life in the Oklahoma City and Norman area.

She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

White was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Robert White of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Alan George and Elta Lou Bowman, Midwest City, and Robert White Jr., Norman; brother, William Alan Archibald, Davenport, Iowa; two grandchildren, Kimberly Dee Bowman Tomer and Erica Lynn Lancaster, both of Midwest City; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley Lynn Lancaster and Macey Nicole Lancaster, both of Midwest City.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Little Jim Family Cemetery, with the Rev. Bryce Scott officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

James Arless Reed
James Arless Reed, 89, Midwest City, died Saturday at a Midwest City nursing home.

He was born June 3, 1913, in Okemah, the son of James Andrew Reed and Pauline Lena (Phillips) Reed.

Reed was married to Mary Virginia Richards for 69 years. She preceded him in death in December 2002.

He worked for BP AMOCO for 43 years and retired at the age of 65.

Upon retirement, he moved to Lake Eufaula where he and his wife lived until they moved to Midwest City in 1998.

He also lived in Shawnee and Cushing.

Reed was of the Baptist faith and was most recently a member of Brush Hill Baptist Church near Eufaula.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, daughter, Kaye Arlyce Reed; brothers, Carl, Leon and Raymond; and sisters, Mildred Shaw, Lorene Rose and Marie Condreay.

Survivors include his son, Jerry Reed and wife Nell, Midwest City; two daughters, Sharon Johnson and husband Earnest, Poteau, and Karen June Henderson, Shawnee; sister, Polly Williams, Tulsa; eight grandchildren, Sheri Frosig, Terri Wells, Kendall Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Kyson Johnson, Elaina Jones, Renee Wortham and Brooke Oliver; and many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Earnest Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Hannah Marie Williams
Hannah Marie Williams, 17-hours-old- daughter of Billie and Elizabeth (Loula) Williams of Ada, died Friday in an Oklahoma City hospital.

A service will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church. More information will be announced by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Ada Faye Jackson
Ada Faye Jackson, 70, Shawnee, died Saturday at an Oklahoma City hospital. Services are pending and will be announced by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Larry R. Byrd
Shawnee resident Larry R. Byrd, 56, died Friday at his residence.

He was born March 15, 1946, in Shawnee to Floyd and Oma (McElfresh) Byrd.

He attended Pleasant Grove School and graduated from Shawnee High School.

He worked as a bricklayer for 35 years.

He married Sandra Hawkins on October 28, 1965, in Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Dale Byrd.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Byrd of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Bryan Keith and Dawn Byrd of Shawnee; his mother, Oma Switch of Shawnee; two grandchildren, Nicole and Michael Byrd of Shawnee; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Bill and Beverly Byrd of Apopka, Fla.; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Max Buchanan of Prairie Grove, Ill., and Carla and Jimmie Johnson of Checotah, Okla.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Craig and the Rev. Randy Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Home of Shawnee.

Henry Hicks Sr.
Henry Hicks Sr., 82, of Okmulgee died Aug. 19 at a local hospital.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Gaskill Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Other arrangements are pending with Gaskill Funeral Chapel.
