Felicher G. Simpkins
Felicher G. Simpkins, 36, formerly of Seminole and Wewoka, died Aug. 16 at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at E.R. Morris Funeral Chapel, 4316 Troost, in Kansas City.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Gaililee Baptist Church in Seminole. Burial will take place in the Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka.

Bill Roberts
Bill "Paw Paw" Roberts, 74, of Macomb died Aug. 18 in Norman.

Viewing will be be 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Garner officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.

Other information is pending with Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh.

Robert S. Townsend
Robert S. Townsend of Shawnee died Aug. 18 at Unity Health Center, North Campus. He was 86.

Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at University Baptist Church in Shawnee.

Other information is pending with Gaskill-Owens Funeral Home in Shawnee.

William Ben Cooper
William Ben Cooper of Shawnee died Aug. 15 at the age of 43.

He is survived by his mother, Betha Dockrey; one sister, Mamie; one nephew, Jake; one aunt and uncle, Margie and Tommy Cotton; former wife, Pat Ward of Shawnee; one stepdaughter, Shelly McInturff; one stepson, Cody Ward; and other aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Shawnee.

Dorothy Heinzig
Dorothy Heinzig of Prague died Aug. 19 in Shawnee at the age of 88.

Arrangements are pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Julia Ann Arthur
Julia "Judy" Ann Arthur, 52, of McLoud died Aug. 19 at a local hospital.

Further information is pending with Walker Funeral Service.

Delia S. Castellow
Delia S. Castellow, 82, of Shawnee died Aug. 19 at a local hospital.

Service will be Friday at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Wolf Cemetery.

Other information is pending with Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee.

Opa K. Boyd
Opa K. Boyd, 73, of Shawnee died Aug. 17 at a local hospital.

He was born Feb. 20, 1930, in Shawnee, to Opa Kenneth and Mabel Gwendolyn (Utter) Boyd.

He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1948 and attended Oklahoma Baptist University.

He served in Korea with the U.S. Army's 45th division. He retired from the 95th division with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He became manager of S.A.T.O. at Tinker Air Force Base.

Boyd was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Rotary Club in Midwest City. He also was a cub scout leader for Troop 409 at Golden Acres Baptist Church.

His parents and first wife, Marian Louise Boyd, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Karen Boyd of Shawnee; one daughter, Debbie Fletcher of Meeker; four grandchildren, Thomas and Leslie Fletcher and Tara and Megan Boyd; six great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Jeannie Hill of Ardmore and Clifton and Janee Hill of Shawnee; one stepsister and her husband, Nedra Ann and Bob Pitt of Oklahoma City; one stepson, Phillip Wayne Marshall of Shawnee; one stepdaughter and her husband, Diane and David Szymanski of Indianapolis, Ind.; one stepgrandson, Nickolas Szymanski; and several aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. Jeff Burress and the Rev. Kris Steele officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Mark Anthony Israel
Shawnee resident Mark Anthony Israel, 43, died Aug. 9 at his home.

He was born, Jan. 11, 1960, in Alabama.

He married Jacqualene Seger in October 1993 and moved to Shawnee.

He worked at ExxonMobil for 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, daughter, Nicole Israel; mother, Bonnie Israel; brother, Matt Israel; and sisters, Bonita Harris, Susan Brown and Christy Israel.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Aug. 27 at Park Place Plaza, 1803 E. Remington, Shawnee. A previous service and burial was held Aug. 15, in Montgomery, Ala., under the direction of Leak Memory Chapel.

Allie Pitman
Allie Pitman, 94, McLoud, died Wednesday at a Harrah nursing home.

She was born Sept. 15, 1908, in McLoud to Pat and Eva Carnal.

She graduated from Dale High School in 1927.

She was a homemaker and a member of the McLoud Pentecostal Holiness Church for more than 50 years.

She was a nationally recognized quilter, whose hand-stitched, 7300-piece quilt was featured in a national quilting magazine.

Survivors include her daughter, Helen Sawyer, Denver, Colo.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Truman and Helen Pitman, Miami, Howard and Judith Pitman, Harrah, and Paul and June Pitman, Encino, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Winnie Rains, Roswell, N.M., Doy Blair, Roswell, N.M., Dorothy St. John, Roswell, N.M., and Leona and Johnny Stockhard, Albuquerque, N.M.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the McLoud Pentecostal Holiness Church with Brad Woods officiating.

Burial will be at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service of Shawnee.

Dortha L. Drain
Dortha L. Roland Drain, 85, Shawnee, died Thursday in Oklahoma City.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Other information is pending and will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Glenn Land
Glenn Land, 77, Breckenridge, Texas, died Wednesday in Houston, Texas.

He was born in Shallowater, Texas, on June 2, 1925.

Land graduated from Lubbock High School in 1942.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a seaman second class serving on the USS Yokes during World War II.

Land married Jackie Boo Laverne Collings, who preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 1993.

He later married Mary Waldrop on Sept. 18, 1995, in Las Vegas.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1980, where he was a postal supervisor, and moved to Breckenridge, Texas.

Land was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lubbock.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Brenda in 1961.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Breckenridge, Texas; son, Don Land, Austin, Texas; daughter, Donna Chaney, Texas City, Texas; three stepsons, Ron Waldrop, Red Oak, Texas, Tracey Waldrop, Breckenridge, Texas, and Glenn Waldrop, Albuquerque, N.M.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel, Shawnee, with the Rev. Keith Wiseman officiating.

Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Betty Townes
Macomb resident Betty Townes, 75, died Sunday, Jan. 2, in Tecumseh.

She was born July 19, 1929, in Forsyth, Mo., to Frank and Stella (Echols) Lecklider.

She was reared in Wilburton and had also lived in Stillwater. She attended Wilburton High School. She also attended Southeastern College in Wilburton for two years.

Townes had lived in Macomb since 1954 and was a homemaker.

She was a past matron of the Murrow Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Shawnee, No. 464, and grand representative in Nebraska

She was preceded in death by a son Frank Townes and her parents.

Survivors include her husband, William H. "Buck" Townes of the home; daughter, Treisa Townes of Tecumseh; granddaughter and spouse, Heather and Erick Capron of Prague; one great-grandson; two aunts, Jay Selby of Wilburton and Leona McCrabb of Muskogee; and special "daughter" she helped raise, Mary Dangerfield Billingsley of Hope, Ark.; and other family and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Witten officiating. Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Juanita VanAntwerp
Shawnee resident Juanita "Auntner" VanAntwerp, 87, died Sunday, Jan. 2, in Shawnee.

She was born Oct. 11, 1917, in Hazel, Okla., to Andrew and Fannie (Rutherford) Sharp. She attended Hazel schools.

She was a lifelong resident of Pottawatomie County and had lived in Shawnee for the last several years.

She married Bob VanAntwerp in Sayre.

VanAntwerp was a homemaker. She was employed at Adwans Clothing Store in Maud. She also worked as a nurse at nursing homes in Shawnee and Maud and was employed by Vandever Oil Company.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 25, 1985, her parents and infant brothers.

Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Jimmie and Joe Johnson of Seminole; nieces, Debra Kinnamon of Shawnee and Emma Johnson of Concord, N.C.; nephews, Jimmy "Corky" Johnson of Concord, N.C., Kraig Sexton of Shawnee, Eric Johnson of Matthews, S.C., Brent Johnson of Concord, N.C., and Zachary Johnson of Concord, N.C; and other friends and relatives.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Rider and the Rev. Chad Brodrick officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Clara Alice Griffin
Former Shawnee resident Clara Alice Griffin, 97, of Mineral Wells, Texas, died Friday, Dec. 31, in Mineral Wells.

She was born Sept. 30, 1907, in Tennessee.

On Dec. 26, 1925, she married Leroy Griffin in Huber Springs, Ark. They moved to Shawnee, where he was in construction for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Steve Griffin; and daughters, Betty Juane Griffin and Reveta Keller.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Ladawn Griffin of Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Paul Dooley of Athens, Texas; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held in Shawnee.

Jake T. Reese
Jake T. Reese, 83, Shawnee, died Monday, Jan. 3, in Shawnee.

Services are pending and will be announced by Resthaven Funeral Home.
