Chandler resident Shirley LaDean Oberst, 64, died Thursday, Jan. 6, in Chandler.

Service is pending through Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

William C. Horne Jr.
Holdenville resident William C. "Chet" Horne Jr., 72, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, at an Ada hospital.

He was born May 29, 1932, in Holdenville to William Chester and Eva Mae (Hawthorne) Horne. He graduated from Holdenville High School and earned his MBA from The University of Oklahoma.

He was honorably discharged from the United States Army after attaining the rank of captain and serving overseas in Europe for several years.

He was a certified real estate appraiser, specializing in the appraisal of Sonic restaurant systems. He was a member of the Baptist church.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Twylah Horne and Lee and Judy Horne, all of Ada; two nieces and their husbands, Jenonne and Ned Kessler of Edmond and Jeanetta and Steve Bagwell of Prague; nephews, Steve Horne and wife Allison, Jay Horne and wife Kinda, and Bill Horne Jr. and fiancé Mandy Campbell, all of Ada; four great-nephews; nine great-nieces; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside service was Thursday at Holdenville City Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Elkins officiating. Parks Brothers Funeral Service directed arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Holdenville High School Alumni Scholarship Fund.

Lecoma Daniel
Shawnee resident Lecoma Daniel, 81, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, at a local hospital.

She was born Feb. 14, 1923, in Muskogee to Noah Hines and Cora Bell (Smith) Hines.

She was a homemaker. She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Stroud and Oklahoma Avenue Baptist Church in Shawnee. She lived in Shawnee for more than 40 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Loyal L. Daniel; one brother, Jewel Hines; and three sisters, Ozeal Hampton, Dotsi Potts and Ginny Horton.

Survivors include six children, Charlotte Pernell and husband Tad of Shawnee, Loyal D. Daniel and wife Sharon of Meeker, Sanford Daniel and wife Julie of Shawnee, LeAndra Bates and husband Ralph of Shawnee, Michael Daniel and wife Regina of Shawnee, and Terry Henderson and husband Ken of McLoud; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Noah Hines of Shawnee; three sisters, Clara Collins, Ineva Ayers, and Helen Cullison and husband Calvin, all of Shawnee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Resthaven Funeral.

Resthaven Funeral Home is directing arrangements.

Henry Alexander Martzall
Chandler resident Henry Alexander Martzall, 64, died Sunday, Jan. 9, in Chandler.

Service will be 10 a.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Keith Cole officiating. Burial will be in the Martzall Family Cemetery.

Parks Brothers Funeral Service is directing arrangements.

James Robert Wilson
McLoud resident James Robert Wilson, 66, died Monday, Jan. 10.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel in Harrah. Burial will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin.

Smith-Parks Funeral Service in Harrah is directing arrangements.

Chris Hudson
Former Tecumseh and Perkins resident Chris Hudson, 35, of Wewoka died Saturday, Jan. 8, in Wewoka.

He was born Aug. 5, 1969, in Holdenville to Gilbert and Kathryn "Kathy" (Stokes) Hudson.

He attended Tecumseh schools from kindergarten through seventh grade and Perkins schools from eighth grade through high school. He was reared in Tecumseh and Perkins. He later moved to the Seminole area and had lived in Wewoka the past few months.

Hudson worked as a welder. He also owner and operator of Elementree Design computer software company. He was an artist and musician.

Survivors include a daughter, Kierstin Hudson of the home; son, Zakkary Hudson of the home; parents, Gilbert and Kathy Hudson of Cromwell; brother, Shane Hudson of Cromwell; and grandmother, Sammy Lou Hudson of Ada.

Service is 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh is directing arrangements.

Fern Fowler Maylen
Tecumseh resident Fern Fowler Maylen, 90, died Sunday, Jan. 9, in Oklahoma City.

She was born May 24, 1914, in Salem to Elmer Augusta Fowler and Anna Lenore Newcomb.

She was a school teacher, teaching in Graham and Dewar public school systems.

She was a member of Salem Baptist Church, Oklahoma Education Association, National Education Association and Kappa Kappa Iota.

On July 28, 1946, she married Louis Everett Maylen at Henryetta .

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, James Henry, Elmer Elwood "Goob," Floyd Douglas Sr. "Preach" and Tommy Ross Fowler Sr.; six sisters, Lillie Lee Fowler Eslick, Julia Cordelia Fowler Moody, Emma Marie Fowler, Molly Barbara Fowler Smith, Myrtle Zelma Blanche Fowler and Dossie Ainah Fowler Chapman.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Everett Louis and Rebecca Maylen of Shawnee; three granddaughters and their husbands, Robyn Suzanne Maylen Zechmann and Bernd of Graz, Austria, Kimberly Rose Maylen Paxson and Kevin of Shawnee and Amber Leigh-Ann Maylen of Shawnee; sister-in-law, Patricia Fowler of Salem; and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Salem Baptist Church in Salem with the Rev. James W. Smith, the Rev. Robert D. Fowler, the Rev. Tommy R. Fowler Jr., and Matthew Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery.

Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta is directing arrangements.

Chris Hudson
Wewoka resident Chris Hudson, 35, died Saturday, Jan. 8, in Wewoka. Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Further arrangements are pending and will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Faron Morgan
Konawa resident Faron Morgan, 49, died Sunday, Jan. 9, in Shawnee.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. today at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Pam Shirk officiating. Burial will be in Vamoosa Cemetery.

Cynthia Jewell Brown
Cynthia Jewell Brown, 98, died Sunday, Jan. 9, in Owasso.

She was born Nov. 23, 1907, in Albion to Elisha Thomas and Mattie Belle (Hammond) Kinsey.

She grew up in Bromide and attended college at Murray State in Tishomingo. She continued her education at East Central State University and received her master's degree in education in 1957.

She married Lloyd Kenneth Brown June 20, 1928, in Tishomingo.

She taught elementary school for more than 40 years, 21 of those years in the Seminole Public Schools.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Seminole.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Bonna Brown of Tulsa; daughter and son-in-law, Myrna and Jerry Fielder of Okmulgee; five grandsons, Steve Fielder, Greg Fielder, Mark Brown, Brent Brown and Jason Brown; one granddaughter, Sherry Fielder Wise; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Evergreen Care Center, 12600 E. 73rd St. N, Owasso, OK. 74110.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.

Jim C. Head
Stillwater resident Jim C. Head, 58, died Saturday, Jan. 8, in Stillwater.

He was born Jan. 8, 1947, in Shawnee to James W. and Mary Ellen Head.

Head attended St. Gregory's and served in the military from 1967 to 1969. He spent 1968 in Vietnam as an infantryman and received numerous distinguished service awards, including a Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars, and a National Defense Service Medal.

He worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. He served as president of the Stillwater branch of the National Association of Letter Carriers for seven years and a shop steward for many years. At the time of his death he was serving as the Northwest District board member for the state of Oklahoma. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and was named Eagle of the Year in 2002. He also served as conductor and chaplain for the lodge.

Upon returning home from the service, he married Paula J. Grove.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents.

He is survived by his wife of the home; three sons, William Lance Head and wife Kristin of Claremore, Kent Wayne Head and wife Kelley of Owasso, Nathan Wade Head and wife Susan of Fort Worth, Texas, four grandchildren; Jared Head and Chalyn Head of Owasso, Taylor Head and Gracy Head of Claremore, one brother, David Chostner of Aiken, S.C., two sisters; Sandra Watson of Shawnee and Carole Head of High Point, NC.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Karen Ward, 106 E. Marie, Stillwater, OK 74075.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Strode Chapel, Stillwater. Stode Chapel of Stillwater is directing arrangements.

Henry Alexander Martzall
Chandler resident Henry Alexander Martzall, 64, died Sunday, Jan. 9.

Service is pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Opal Jewell Dooley
Konawa resident Opal Jewell (Smith) Dooley, 91, died Saturday, Jan. 8, in Harrah.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Pam Shirk officiating. Burial will be in Konawa City Cemetery.

C. Clayton Jones
C. Clayton Jones, 77, of Shawnee died Thursday, Jan. 13, in Shawnee.

He was born Nov. 5, 1927, in Shawnee to Clarence Carson "C.C." and Lucy Lee (Wyant) Jones. He was a lifelong resident of Shawnee.

He attended grade school at Acme School and graduated Shawnee High School in 1945.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. He worked at Sooner Supply for 32 years before retiring in 1987.

Jones married Jackie Spaugy April 15, 1946, in Shawnee.

He was a member of the Retreads motorcycle club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Bob Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Jones of the home; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Thomas of Shawnee and Donna and Chris Rigney of McLoud; grandchildren and spouses, Rachelle and Eric Miller of Oklahoma City, Kelli Thomas and Robert Maggard of Edmond, Todd and Shawna Rigney of Shawnee, Traci Rigney and Thomas Keel of Harrah; three great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, L. Keith and Marge Jones of Shawnee and Russell W. and Marilyn Jones of Guthrie.

Mary Loveta King
Former Pottawatomie County resident Mary Loveta King, 83, died Thursday, Jan. 13, in Broken Arrow.

She was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Pottawatomie County, to Julius Tully Parker and Sarah Ann Parker.

She graduated Tribbey High School in 1939 and attended The University of Oklahoma.

She won the title Mrs. Oklahoma in 1947 and spent her professional career in the fashion industry. She retired from Wal-Mart in 1987.

Active in volunteer work, she produced a Tribbey Pioneer Cookbook using recipes and remedies from the 1800s to early 1900s. She sold original oil paintings to raise funds for a war veterans monument at Tribbey, which was dedicated in 1989.

She was preceded in death by her husband, O.C. King; one sister, Dorothy Dinwiddie; an infant brother, Julius Ray.

She is survived by her sons, Donald Ray King of Broken Arrow and Bennie Mike King of California; five grandsons and five great-grandchildren; one brother, William Parker of Tecumseh; one sister, Barbara Ann McKemie of Seminole.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Tribbey Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Floral Haven Funeral Home and Cemetery in Broken Arrow.
