Connie June Johnson, 72, of McLoud died Saturday in McLoud.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest Johnson of McLoud; one daughter, Della Treas of Needles, Calif.; one sister, Shanon Cooper of Auberry, Calif.; one stepson, Daniel Ray Johnson of Pahoa, Hawaii; two stepdaughters, Christine Marie Walla of Casterville, Calif., and Violet Ruth Votaw of Napa, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in McLoud with the Rev. Jim Bratcher and the Rev. David Trammell officiating. Burial follows at Arlington Memory Gardens.

Services are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.

Dovie Dolly (Reece) Medlock
Dovie Dolly (Reece) Medlock, 80, of Seminole died Sunday at a Seminole hospital.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Jack and Colleen Medlock of Seminole, Jerry Medlock of Eufaula, and Gary and Sally Medlock of Wewoka; three daughters and sons-in-law, Elena Silas of Seminole, Robin Hall of Edmond, and Vonda and Bill Culbertson of Tulsa; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David McDougal and the Rev. Allen Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Edwin Molina
Edwin Molina, 33, of Tulsa died Tuesday in Tulsa.

Survivors include his wife, Shonna Jo McCray of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Destiny Molina of Oklahoma City; a son, Kevin Molina of Yonkers, N.Y.; his parents, Mr. Molina and Maria Rosada Vasquez; a brother, two sisters and several cousins.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel in Tecumseh, with John Clark officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Cooper Funeral Home.

Dolly L. Hobbs
Dolly L. Hobbs, 61, of Shawnee died Friday at a local nursing home.

She was born March 24, 1941, in Shawnee to Clay and Mazie (Archer) Honeycutt.

She attended Shawnee schools and was a housewife.

She married Dewey Arthur Hobbs on Sept. 22, 1959, in Shawnee. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1976.

Hobbs was a member of Bible Temple and was a lifelong Shawnee resident.

She also was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Spurlin of Earlsboro; two grandsons, Nicholas and Jessica Spurlin of Shawnee, and Shane Spurlin of Earlsboro; one great-granddaughter, Veronica Spurlin; four sisters, Carol, Jennie, Ginger, Martha; three brothers, Leonard, David, Mike; and numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Bethel Cemetery with the Rev. Guy Cagle officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Betty Jo Phillips Foster
Betty Jo Phillips Foster of Tecumseh died Sept. 12 in Shawnee. She was 69 years old.

She was born June 20, 1934, in Gee Ridge, Ark., to Clarence Edward and Jewel (Sanders) Phillips.

She was raised in Arkansas and attended school in Lonoke. She moved to Kansas in 1954. She lived in Altus for 20 years before she moved to Tecumseh in 1976.

She worked at Kalka's Stop and Shop until her retirement.

Foster was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Thomas Phillips; and her other mother, Pauline Phillips.

She is survived by her son, Marvin Foster of McLoud; her brother, James Edward Phillips of Bricktown, N.J.; four sisters, Elza McClanahan of London, Ark., Linda Mae Bates of North Little Rock, Ark., Frances Frazier of Jerseyville, Ill., and Alice Tarantino of Neptune, N.J.; three grandsons, Scotty Foster, Jason Montgomery and Daniel Foster; also many other relatives.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mack Peercy officiating. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Oklahoma City.

Charlene Rose Roberson
Longtime Seminole resident Charlene Rose Roberson, 72, died Sept. 11 at an Oklahoma City hospital.

She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Donna Viton of Oklahoma City, Patricia Phillips of Ada and Jennifer and Jack Keefer of Norman; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Melvin and Glenda Roberson of Harrah and Phillip Roberson of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Erma Lee Moore of Tecumseh and Geraldine Washburn of Shawnee; one brother, Buck Parsons of Tecumseh; and one grandson.

The service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with John Brooks officiating. Burial in Dale Cemetery will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Roy Hasbell
Roy Hasbell of Tecumseh died Sept. 12 in Tecumseh at the age of 45.

He was born Sept. 27, 1957, in Dallas, Texas, to Albert and Dean (Peepers) Hasbell. He attended school at Wolf.

On Jan. 11, 1976, he married Dorothy Davis.

He worked at Oldcastle Glass. He also was a game fowl breeder who participated in the sport. He was a member of the General Assembly of the First Born.

Hasbell lived in Tecumseh for the last 15 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Wanda Jean Hasbell.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of the home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Roy Jr. and Jessica Hasbell of Shawnee, Keith and Faith Hasbell of Oklahoma City, and Brian Hasbell of the home; one sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Mike Upton of Tecumseh; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Herbert and Cindy Hasbell of Pearson, Tommy Hasbell of Chandler and Bobby and Sheila Hasbell of Seminole; five granddaughters, Samantha, Stephanie, SaBrianna, Halee and Tasia; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Loyd and Nellie Davis of Shawnee; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Dale Toles and Quincy Hammons officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.

Wesley Earl Treece Jr.
Wesley Earl Treece Jr., 20, died Sept. 11 at his Shawnee home.

He was born Aug. 21, 1983, in Shawnee to Wesley Earl Treece Sr. and Jamey (Sierks) Hutchinson.

He attended school in both Dale and Shawnee, and graduated from Shawnee High School in 2002. Treece worked at several jobs, mostly in construction.

He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Harold Treece Sr. and James Sierks.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Jamey and Kevin Hutchinson of Tecumseh; his father and stepmother, Wesley E. Treece Sr. and Richelle of Shawnee; one sister, Alisha Treece, also of Shawnee; two stepsisters, Shelly and Whittney Hutchinson of Tecumseh; two grandmothers, Charlotte Treece of Shawnee and Dorothy Sierks of Moore; his stepgrandparents, Richard and Sarah Hutchinson of Tecumseh and Ronald and Rose Ford of Littleton, Mass.; also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other family.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. James Walter officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel in Shawnee.

Sunnie Brook Walker
Newborn Sunnie Brook Walker died Sunday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

Survivors include her parents, Kenneth and Yvette Walker of Shawnee; three brothers, Franklin Perhne, Cleve Perhne and Luke Perhne; grandparents, Mary King of Shawnee, Gene Walker of Eufaula, Gary Anderson of California and Michelle Farley of Arkansas; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other family.

Services will be 4 p.m. today at The Corner Church, Ninth and Philadelphia with Dr. Paul Calmes officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee.

John Slavens
Shawnee businessman and civic leader John H. Slavens died Monday at Baptist Medical Center.

Slavens, 62, a longtime employee of Mobil Chemical Corp., served as plant manager in Shawnee for 11 years. Before moving to Shawnee, he worked in Illinois, New York state and Texas.

From 1991 to 1995, Slavens served as venture manager for Mobil in The Netherlands in western Europe. He also served as vice president of operations/Europe overseeing Mobil plants in the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy.

Slavens and his wife, Gloria, 15-year residents of Shawnee, were co-chairs of SURGE, Shawnee Uniting Resources for Growth and Excellence. In a recent interview with The Shawnee News-Star, Slavens said he saw SURGE as an opportunity to develop a long-range plan that would be a foundation for making Shawnee a better place for future generations.

"SURGE has the possibility of pulling together the citizens of the Shawnee community for the common good of all of us. If we truly work for the good of all, then the possibilities for progressive change are limitless," Slavens was quoted as saying.

"It offers the opportunity for everyone in Shawnee to have a voice in a changing Shawnee. It gives structure to something that is going to happen anyway, but using the concept behind SURGE, we can give guidance to that change," he said.

Slavens was past president of the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce and past president of the United Way of Shawnee. He served as a board member for the Salvation Army, the United Way, The Mabee-Gerrer Museum and the South Central Sheltered Workshop.

Slavens was born Feb. 16, 1937, in Waverly, Ill., to Robert and Lola (Stuart) Slavens. He attended public schools in Waverly.

On Aug. 11, 1962, he married Gloria Cummings in Jacksonville, Ill.

Slavens was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Slavens' hobbies were gardening, wood working, restoring classic Ford Mustangs and reading.

Funeral services for Slavens will be 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home with Lt. Carlyle Gargis and Capt. Vic Tidman officiating. He will be buried at Resthaven Memorial Park.

The family will receive visitors at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Slavens was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lola Slavens; his parents-in-law, George and Roberta Cummings; a son, John H. Slavens II; a sister, Hallie Dain; and two brothers, Zelmer Slavens and Albert Slavens.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Slavens of the home; a son, Robert "Bob" Slavens, Long Beach, Calif.; a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Edward Kessler, Granite City, Ill.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Peggy Slavens, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Holland and Odile Slavens, Shreveport, La.; a sister-in-law, Donna Slavens, Sherman, Ill.; two aunts, Hope Hunnicutt, Hillview, Ill., and Isabelle Ford, White Hall, Ill.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army of Shawnee and the Cancer Center of Shawnee Regional Hospital.

Jack Wolf
Jack Wolf, 80 of Seminole died Tuesday in Seminole.

Survivors include his son, Larry Wolf of Oklahoma City; two adopted sons, Mike Wolf of Seminole and Joseph Wolf of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Jackie Wolf and Patty Yeager, both of Seminole; one brother, Redmond Wolf Sr. of Seminole; one sister, Beatrice Harjo of Shawnee; 12 grandchildren; and 39 great grandchildren.

He will be at Swearingen Funeral Home until Wednesday afternoon. At that time, he will be moved to the family home for a wake service at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hitchitee Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Wolf and the Rev. Redmond Wolf Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Hitchitee Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Eula Mae McGraw
Eula Mae McGraw, 91, of Chandler died Monday in Midwest City.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Sam McGraw of Chandler and Bob and Toshiko McGraw of Midwest City; one niece, Betty Rozell of Chandler; one cousin, Lois Beshers of Midwest City; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler with the Rev. Hugh Willoby officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Robert H. Whiteside
Robert H. "Bob" Whiteside, 66, of Tecumseh died Wednesday in Shawnee.

Services are pending with Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Joe B. Collins
Joe B. Collins, longtime Okemah resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, at his home. He was 80 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Dora (Ault) Collins of Okemah; one daughter and son-in-law, Ruthena and Charles Tucker of Prague; one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Jim and Jesi Dodson of Cushing; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Gerry and Tony Price of Broken Arrow; one sister, Eva Farley of Merritt Island, Fla.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Denise and Andy Bridges of Prague, Kim and Steve Holekamp of Guthrie, and Jennifer and Rodney Hawkins of Lake Dallas, Texas; nine stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren, and one stepgreat-great-granddaughter.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah with the Rev. Carl Clay officiating. Burial in Welty Cemetery will follow.
