ROBERT O. YAEGER, SR.
PITTSBURG, Kan. - Robert O. Yeager, Sr., 76 of Pittsburg, Kan., died at 8:45 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001 at the St. John's Medical Center. He was born March 15, 1925 in Chicopee, Kan., the son of Arthur and Grace Divine Yaeger. He attended area schools and was a veteran of W.W. II, entering the Army Airborne division in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. On June 12, 1943 he was united in marriage Pearl Crowe in Pittsburg. She survives at the home. Mr. Yeager was employed as a superintendent at Freeto Construction for 20 years, he also was employed by the City of Pittsburg as the Director of Public Works. He was a lifetime resident of the area and a member of the Frontenac United Methodist Church. Lifetime membership was held in the Benjamin Fuller American Legion Post #64 and the V.F.W. He also loved boating and traveling.
He is survived by one son, Robert O. Yeager, Jr., of Thayer, Mo.; three daughters, Sharon K. Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo., Peggy Yeager of Ft. Meyers, Fla., and Phyllis of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Irene Davis and Patsy Bowman, both of Pittsburg; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Arthur and James Yaeger.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 9, at the Friskel Funeral Home with Rev. Verl Strong officiating. Services were under the direction of the Friskel Funeral Home 230 E. McKay Frontenac, Kan.

CATHERINE BLANCH COLE DUNN
GROVE - Catherine Blanch Cole Dunn of Grove died Sunday, April 8, 2001 at the Grand Lake Villa Nursing Home in Grove. She was 91. Mrs. Dunn was born December 3, 1909 in Kansas. She worked in clothing sales at Peters Dry Goods at Dewey, Okla. and Anthony's Clothing Store in Bartlesville, Okla. After her first husband, Robert Cole, preceded her in death in 1970, she married J.D. Dunn in 1972. He preceded her in death in 1982. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Grove. One son, Robert Eugene Cole, died in 1983.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Vaughn and Keith Cole, both of Dewey, Okla.; one daughter-in-law, Louise Cole of Grove; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the First United Methodist Church in Grove. Rev. Randy Hamill to officiate. Interment will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville. Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund. Friends and family may view Mrs. Dunn at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

CHARLES L. HARLESS
GROVE - Charles L. Harless of Grove died Saturday, April 7, 2001 at this home after a long illness. He was 66. Mr. Harless was born July 2, 1934 to Ruffus and Lorena Moore Harless at Siloam Springs, Ark. He worked for American Airlines in Tulsa for 37 years, starting as a junior mechanic then worked his way to management. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Eastgate #543, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, a 32nd degree Mason, all of Tulsa.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Harless, of Grove; one son, Steve Harless; daughter, Dana Ezell of Joplin, Mo.; daughter, Lou Ann Pfeifer of Houston, Texas; four sisters, Florene Nuckolls of Claremore, Okla., Mary Williams of Medicine Lodge, Kan., Sue Stogsdill of Grove and Shirley Marsh of Claremore; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Rev. Mark Lynn to officiate. Interment will be at the Buzzard Cemetery in Grove.

MARGARET "ANN" LAUE
MIAMI, Okla. - Margaret "Ann" Laue, 60, of Miami, died Friday, April 6, 2001 after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Laue was born June 14, 1940 in Miami, she had lived in Miami all her life. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Laue was a member of the Assembly of God and had been active in the Ottawa County 4-H before her illness.
She is survived by her husband, James W. Laue, of Miami; two sons, Brian Laue of Miami, and Steven Laue of Branson, Mo.; two daughters, Teresa Crow and Pamela Hargon, both of Miami; father and mother, Kenneth and Ruby Sparkman of Miami; two sisters, Sherry Anderson and Vicky Sparkman, both of Tulsa, Okla., and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home in Miami. Rev. Steve Brodrick will officiate. Burial will be in the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home Miami. Pallbearers will be David Sparkman, Ron Sparkman, Richard Christensen, Warren Guest, Joie Sharp and Bill Ankeman. Memorial may be made to the Huntington's Disease Clinic - 654 N. Woodchuck, Wichita, KS 67212.

DOROTHY GRETCHEN TREBBE
GROVE - Dorothy Gretchen Trebbe of Grove passed away Sunday, April 8, 2001 at the Grove Nursing Center after a short illness. She was 85. Dorothy was born May 19, 1915 to Joseph and Grace Perry Russell at Oaks, Okla. She entered elementary school at Tuskahoma, Okla. and graduated from Haskell Indian School in Lawrence, Kan. June 4, 1934. She graduated nursing school May 26, 1937 at Halstead, Kan. She worked at Halstead, Ellinwood and Great Bend, Kan. She returned to Grove and worked until retiring in 1988. She was active in the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, being a member for 55 years. She also was a member of the Ladies Eagles Post #646 of Great Bend, Kan. She joined the First Christian Church in Grove April 28, 1929. Dorothy married Francis H. (Tate) Trebbe August, 1, 1942. He preceded her in death April 10, 1970.
She is survived by one sister, Cleo Hulsey, of Grove; nephew Bob Hulsey and wife, Alberta, of Grove, and niece, Beverly Harding and husband, Leroy, of Grove.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the Buzzard Cemetery in Grove. Dr. Wayne Shaw to officiate. Family and friends may view Dorothy at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

MAURICE D. HARGROVE
OLATHE, Kan. - Maurice D. Hargrove, 92, passed away on June 20, 2001 at the Good Samaritan Center in Olathe. Mr. Hargrove was born on May 6, 1909 in Neosho, Mo., but spent a number of years in old Bernice, Okla., as a child. After his retirement from the Keebler Company, he was a long time resident of both Grove and Miami, Okla., until 1998. He lived at the Grand Court in Overland Park, Kan., prior to his transfer to the Good Samarian Center in Olathe. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy and active in the Masonic Lodge in Grove.
He is survived by his two sons, Dean Hargrove of Los Angeles, Calif., and Phil Hargrove of Olathe, Kan.; four grandchildren, John, Joanne, Matthew, and Caitlin Hargrove; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Brynna Hargrove.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, July 2, at 3 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Iola, Kan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Heartland Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 3846 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208.

• RICHARD D. "BILL" LAYMAN
VINITA, Okla., - Mr. Richard D. "Bill" Layman, 80-year-old retired Vinita Public School custodian and longtime resident of Vinita, died Monday evening at Craig General Hospital.
Bill was born on April 26, 1921 in Grove, the son of Jess Oliver and Elizabeth (Stephens) Layman. He served in the Air Force during WWII. Following the service, he returned to Grove, where he and Nancy Quallate were united in marriage on October 1, 1949 in Jay. They made their home in Vinita, where they have lived since. He worked for the Vinita Public Schools as maintenance supervisor from 1953 until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of White Oak Baptist Church, VFW, and Dale Peace Post #90 of the American Legion. He loved to work in his workshop and was famous for his windmills and wagons.
Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 52 years; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry Dale and Sharon Layman, of Vinita; two brothers, Ross and Harry Layman, both of Jay; a sister, Betty Lou Wilson of Jay; a granddaughter, Diana Layman of Vinita; and several nieces and nephews. His parents, four brothers, and three sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services for Mr. Layman will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leland Bartlett and Rev. Jack Frazier officiating. Burial will be on the family plot at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.

• EXIE JANE MONROE
JAY, Okla. - Exie Jane Monroe, 87, met her Lord June 26, 2001 in Jay. Exie was born September 30, 1913 to Daniel Tauuneacie and Sally Redman in Grove. Exie graduated from Grove High School and attended college in Tahlequah, Okla., where she received a teaching degree. She married Grove Monroe and later returned to school at the University of Ark., where she accomplished a masters degree. Exie taught school for 30 years. During the years 1971-1982 she worked for the Cherokee Nation. After leaving Cherokee Nation, she became on Ombudsman for Grand Gateway until 1994. She retired at the age of 81.
Exie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Grover, in 1961, five sisters and one brother.
She is survived by one daughter, Sally and husband, DeWayne Choate, of Joplin, Mo.; two nieces, Loy Dedmond of Grove, and Almeta Tonips of Ft. Worth Texas.; two nephews, Charles Gray of Newkirk, Okla., and Daniel Gray of Bartlesville, Okla.
Visitation will be held at the Jay Community Center June 29 at 10 a.m. followed by a lunch at the United Methodist Church. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at the Ballard Cemetery in Bernice, Okla. Services will be under the direction of the Turner Funeral Chapel, Jay.

BILL GALLOWAY
SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - Bill Galloway, 71-year-old resident of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Wednesday, September 5, 2001 in Southhaven, Miss. Born September 24, 1929 in Bald Knob, Ark., he was the son of William Harvey Galloway and Dona Bullard Galloway. A resident of Siloam Springs for the past 34 years, Mr. Galloway was the owner/operator of B&M Cleaners. He was a former member of Rotary. He married Martha Talley on October 23, 1948. A son, Larry Galloway, preceded him in death in 1977.
Survivors are: his wife, Martha, of the home; one son, Tom Galloway, of Hominy, Okla.; one daughter, Donna Ochs and her husband, Bob, of Siloam Springs; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Helms and Ethel McKamey, both of Wichita, Kan., and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 8, at Wasson Memorial Chapel with Louie Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark.

LUCEIL F. GRAHAM
JAY, Okla. - Luceil F. Graham passed away quickly and peacefully on September 5, 2001. She was born in Arkedelphia, Ark., in 1909 and celebrated her 92nd birthday two weeks ago on August 22. She had recently moved to Colorado to be near her two grandchildren, James and Sue. She lived with them for a time, but had moved to a nursing home three blocks from James' home. Her grandchildren visited her often and she said that made her feel like a million dollars.
She missed her friends and home in Jay. She and her husband, Maxwell S., retired there in 1971. Max had worked for Amoco for many years and Luceil was his right arm during their many moves. They married in 1929 and had one daughter, Virginia, in 1930. Her husband and daughter preceded her in death. She was very active in the Republican Women's Club, was a magnificent knitter. She gave many things to family and friends and was glad to teach knitting to anyone who wanted to learn. She also liked gardening.
Memorial services will be held for Luceil Saturday, September 8, at 10 a.m. at the Turner Funeral Chapel in Grove. Services will be under the direction of the Turner Funeral Chapel, Grove.

LILLIAN ADAIR HEUSER
KANSAS, Okla. - Lillian Adair Heuser, 57-year-old resident of Kansas, Okla., died Tuesday, September 4, 2001 at her home. Born January 14, 1944 in Murray, Utah, she was the daughter of Frederick Lee Heuser and Iola Adair Green Heuser. Ms. Heuser had been a resident of Kansas, Okla., for the past month, moving here from Los Angeles, Calif. She was a retired bookkeeper and affiliated with the Nazarene Church.
Survivors are: two sons, John Binam of Kansas, Okla., and Mark Binam of Elkins, Ark.; one daughter, Aeron Campbell, of Kansas, Okla.; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Fred, David, and Terry Heuser, all of Utah; four sisters, Helen Rick of Utah, and June Gregory, Diane Roberts, and Norma Frieburg, all of Montana, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 8, at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs, Ark., with Pastor Sam Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in Dickson Cemetery near Cherokee City, Ark., with services under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

ARLETTA Y "LETA" ABBOTT
GROVE - Arletta Abbott, age 64, died Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at the Grove General Hospital after a sudden illness. The daughter of Esley and Bertha (Chambless) Nelson, she was born on October 10, 1936 in Dale, Okla. Leta married Leroy Abbott on June 8, 1954 in Midwest City, Okla. She worked for 12 years in the Bethel High School as financial and Superintendent's Secretary. In 1990 she moved to Grove where she and Leroy owned and operated the Abbott Store and station until retirement in 1996.
Survivors are: her husband, Leroy, of the home; two sons, Mike Abbott of Austin, Texas, and Russell Abbott of Grove; one daughter, Carolyn Eskew of Grove, and two grandsons, Justin Abbott and Caleb Abbott.
The family will have a visitation at the funeral home at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 24. The family will have a private burial at a later time. The services are under the directions of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

W. L. "ROY" ABSHIER
AFTON, Okla. - W.L. "Roy" Abshier, 81, of Afton, Okla., formerly of Parsons, passed away at 5:30 p.m., Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo. following a brief illness. He was born March 21, 1920 at Bartlett, Kan. to Charlie and Gertie (Bourquin) Abshier. He grew to adulthood in the Bartlett area and attended schools in Bartlett and Altamont. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. On January 17, 1939 he married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Hoppock, she survives of whe home. He was in the Real Estate/and Insurance Business in Parsons for 45 years; Was Realtor of the year and an active participant in the community, and was a member of the Kansas Assoc. of Realtors. He was a past Director of the State Bank of Parsons. He had retired and was living in Bernice/Afton, Okla. at the time of his death. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Parsons.
He is survived by two sons, Gail Abshier, Parson, Kan., and Ron Abshier, Bluffton, Texas; one brother, Earl "Jiggs" Abshier, Parsons; two sisters, Eula Vandermark, Coffeyville, Kan., and Elaine Miller, Coffeyville, Kan.; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five great grandchildren, and 11 step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 4, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bath Funeral Home Chapel of Altamont with Pastor Gene Jones officiating. Burial to follow in the Oswego Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Wayside Bible Church Building Fund of Bernice, Okla. and may be left or mailed to the funeral home at Box 325, Altamont, KS.

JACK D. ADAIR
GROVE - Jack D. Adair, 84, died Thursday, July 5, 2001 at Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 13, at Greenlawn Cemetery, Checotah.
Jack was born on September 28, 1916 in Dorchester, Texas to Willard and Martha Jane Lankford Adair. He attended school in Checotah. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He married Irene Miller on May 2, 1975 in Atoka. Mr. Adair worked as a Production Planner for McDonald-Douglas in Tulsa, for 30 years. He and his wife moved to the Grove area in 1982 from Checotah. Mr. Adair was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, V.F.W. and the American Legion.
Survivors are: his wife, Irene, of the home; one son, Stephen Adair, of Tulsa; one stepdaughter, Rae Sweet, of Claremore; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Mr. Adair was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters.
Services are entrusted to Ellis Family Funeral Home, 107 S. Broadway, Grove, 918-786-5172
