MARTHA ALETHA BARTON
NEOSHO, Mo. - Martha Aletha Barton died at 12:50 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2001 at the Quality Living Residential Care, Bluejacket, Okla., after a long illness. She was 87.
Mrs. Barton was born May 23, 1914 to Martha E. (VanDorn) and H. Frank Hansford at Spring City, Mo. She graduated from Miami High School in 1932. On December 20, 1946, she married Murray M. Barton who preceded her in death in 1962. Mrs Barton retired from Tinker Air Force Base, Midwest City, Okla., in 1978 and moved at that time to Neosho. Mrs. Barton was a member of the First Christian church disciples of Christ, Neosho.
Survivors include: a brother, Frank Hansford, Miami, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Delores Lewis, Little Rock, Ark., and Marzella Bradbury, Littleton, Colo.; two nieces; six nephews, and her loving caretaker, Shirley Winfrey.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, at the Burkhardt Cemetery, Racine, Mo., with the Rev. Charles Horton officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home of Miami. The family will be at the home of Frank and Elizabeth Hansford, 1502 Morgan Circle.

JAMES WESLEY BATES
GROVE - James Wesley Bates of Grove died early Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was 76. Mr. Bates was born September 21, 1924 to Wesley A. and Della Kepheart Bates in Grove. He went to Grove Public Schools and served in the United States Army during WWII, receiving two Purple Hearts. He owned and operated Honey Creek Grocery in Grove for 20 years. Mr. Bates married Hazel Bates September 4, 1992. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Noby Bates, Troy Bates, and Charles Bates, and two sisters, Benola Turner and Clara Goss.
Survivors are: his wife, Hazel, of the home; one son, Eddie Sands, of Florida; one brother, Bob Bates of Owasso, Okla; one sister, Cordelia Ford of Grove; two grandchildren; four stepsons, Jack Crossley, Jerry Crossley, Mike Crossley, and Eddie Crossley, all of Grove; two stepsisters, Imogene Bauer and Linda Keller, both of Grove, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, August 24, at the Elk River Baptist Church. Rev. Dolphus Blevins to officiate with Rev. Larry Jackson assisting. Interment will be at the Cayuga Cemetery. Family will receive friends at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

EDWARD LEOTIS BEAL
GROVE - Edward Leotis Beal, age 85, of Grove, died Sunday May 13, 2001 in the Grove General Hospital with his family at his side. The son of James and Martha Mae (Rankin) Beal, he was born on November 22, 1915 in Broken Arrow, Okla.
Edward was a long time resident of Grove, working as a heavy equipment operator until he retired. He was a veteran of WWII and a member of the Living Church of God.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Mary Beal, of Grove; a sister, Sarah Hall, of Tulsa, Okla., three sons, Benny Leotis Beal of Grove, Rodney Beal of Duenaweg, Mo., and Clifford Beal of Wyandottte, Okla., a daughter, Brenda Francisco of Joplin, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was at the graveside in the Zena Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Tuesday May 15, with Karl Beyersdorfer officiating. The services were under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. The pallbearers were Chris Beal, Randy Beal, Clifton Beal, Bryan Beal, Daniel Beal and Brad Asher.

JAY TINSLEY BECKHAM
GROVE - Jay Tinsley Beckham of Grove died Thursday, July 26, 2001 at the Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo. He was 97. Mr. Beckham was born September 13, 1903 to Richard and Effie (Horn) Beckham at Farmersville, Texas. He worked as a machinist at Metal Goods Manufacturing Co. in Bartlesville. He has lived in the area since 1968, moving from Bartlesville. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Grove. Mr. Beckham was married to Dorothy (Schnell) Beckham, she preceded him in death in 1994.
Survivors are: one sister, Maida Bland Housh, of Oklahoma City, and his neighbor and caretaker, Shirley Smith of Grove.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday, July 30, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville. Wayne Shaw officiated.
Services were under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

ROGER LEROY BELL
COLCORD, Okla. - Roger Leroy Bell, 48, died Saturday, November 17, 2001 at the Veterans Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark. Born April 29, 1953, in Tulsa, Okla., he was the son of Silas "Jack" Bell and JoAnn Johnson Bell. Mr. Bell was a machine operator for Franklin Electric Company and had been an area resident most of his life. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam Era.
Survivors include: three sons, Rod Bell and his wife, Tracy, Kansas, Okla., Jeremy Bell and his wife, Tammy, United States Navy, Wahiawa, Hawaii, and Brian Bell and his wife, Suzanne, Mannford, Okla.; his parents Jack and JoAnn Bell, Colcord; six grandchildren; two brothers, Steve Bell, Muskogee, Okla., and Jackie Bell, Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Barbara Granberry, Redding, Calif., and Shirley Mills, Lincoln, Calif.; and a number of nephews and nieces. A brother, J.R. Bell, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, at the Colcord Church of Christ with Pastor Larry Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Herman Cemetery, near Jay, Okla., with military honors. Funeral services are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark.

MAGGIE S. BENDABOUT
CLAREMORE, Okla. - Maggie S. Bendabout, 88, passed away Monday November 19, 2001 in Claremore. Mrs. Bendabout was born May 6, 1913 in Southwest City, Mo., the daughter of Jahum and Mary (Smoke) Chunestudy. She was raised in and around the Delaware County area. She attended Wyandotte Indian School. After finishing school she helped with her family in her folk's home. She later met and married Edward Bendabout in Talequah, Okla., in 1932. In her spare time she enjoyed working in her flower garden and cooking. She was a Christian lady and a long time member of Ballou Baptist Church.
Survivors include: four sons, Robert Bendabout, Verdigris, Okla., Samuel Bendabout and wife, Sandra, Locust Grove, Okla., Calvin Bendabout, Claremore, and Johnny Bendabout and wife, Melissa, Wyandotte, Okla.; one daughter, Rita Mellowbug, Locust Grove, Okla.; one brother, Robert Chunestudey and wife, Mable, Vinita, Okla.; 24 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Two daughters, Sandra K. Bendabout and Baby Girl Bendabout; three sons, Felix Bendabout, John Edward Bendabout, Charlie James (Bucky) Bendabout; four brothers; one sister; her parents and husband, Edward, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 23, at 2 p.m. in the Ballou Baptist Church near Locust Grove. Burial will follow in the Ballou Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Jones-Wilson-Cunningham Funeral Home of Locust Grove.

OLIVE IRENE BILLUPS
COLCORD, Okla. - Olive Irene Billups, 98-year-old resident of Colcord, Okla., died Friday, March 30, 2001 in Siloam Springs, Ark. Born Jan. 5, 1903 in Centerton, Ark., she was the daughter of John Henry Callis and Gertie Belle Brown Callis. Mrs. Billups has been a lifetime resident of Colcord, Okla. She was a homemaker and worked in the Colcord Public School Systems where she was known as "Grandma." Mrs. Billups was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lee Billups, in 1970 and by one granddaughter-in-law, Linda Billups. She was a member of the Countryside Bible Church in Colcord.
She is survived by her son, Edward L. and his wife, Marie Billups, of Colcord; two grandsons, Gerald E. Billups and Timothy K. and his wife, Lori Billups, both of Colcord; one granddaughter, Genea K. and her husband, Curtis Shelley, of Colcord; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Ada Callis of Colcord, Okla.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs Ark. with Pastor Marvin Townzen officiating. Burial will follow in Row Cemetery, Colcord, with services under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark.

TOM "TEX" J. BINGHAM
FAIRLAND, Okla. - Tom "Tex" J. Bingham, Fairland, died at Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami, after an illness. He was 72. Mr. Bingham was born November 1, 1928, at Kennedy, Texas to L.T. and Georgeann Bingham. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a "stockee" (assistant tire builder) at B.F. Goodrich, retiring in 1986. He married Billie Barker on May 19, 1953, in Ark. He moved to Fairland in 1968, from Miami. He was a member of the Fairland American Legion and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Billie, of the home; two sons, Joey Bingham of Fairland, and Leslie Bingham and wife, Christie, of Grove; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be conducted at Adcock Funeral Home Chapel at Fairland, at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 23, with Rev. Jerry VonMoss officiating. Relatives will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at Fairland Cemetery. A family visitation will be at the Adcock Funeral Home, Friday, June 22 from 7-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home. Arrangements provided by Adcock Funeral Home, Fairland.

ROBERT STEVEN BLACK JR.
JAY, Okla. - Robert Steven Black Jr., 36 met his Lord, September 28, 2001 after a long battle with cancer.
Survivors include his mother, Donna Black, Jay; one brother, Pete Black, Jay; and one sister, Cindy Metcalf, Keller, Texas.
A private family service is pending with Turner Funeral Chapels, Jay.

MICHAEL BLANKENSHIP
GROVE - Michael Blankenship was born to Richard C. and Lora M. Blankenship on March 14, 1958 in Broken Arrow, Okla. He died on August 31, 2001 at Grove after a long battle against cancer. At his death, Mike, 43, was with his mother, father, stepparents and the Lord. He grew up in Broken Arrow and, after graduating from high school, enlisted in the Army. During his 14 years in the Army, Mike's duties included Air Traffic Control Operator and Broadcast Journalist. Upon leaving the service, he was employed at KSU TV in Joplin, Mo., as a Communications Technician and at Tyson Foods. He recently started the McDonald County Internet Service in southwestern Missouri. In addition, he was an avid amateur radio operator and a member of the Craig and Delaware County Emergency Response Teams.
Michael is survived by: his father, Richard Blankenship and wife, Karen, of Grove; mother, Lora Kendrick and husband, Ken, of Claremore; sister, Carol Kuzilik and husband, Terry, of Claremore; brother, Dan Blankenship and wife, Lisa, of Loveland, Colo.; nephews, Randy Watkins and Scott Blankenship; niece, Brook Krieger, and three children, Michael Alexander, Timothy Richard, and Christina Marie Blankenship who were loved very much.
A private service will be held at the Veteran's National Cemetery and Memorial in Ft. Gibson, Okla., with Good Shepherd Hospice Chaplain Sam Carper officiating and arrangements by Shipman Funeral and Crematorium.

CAROL S. BLEVINS
ANDERSON, Mo. - Carol S. Blevins, 56, of Anderson, Mo., died on Saturday, August 18, 2001 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo., after an illness.
Carol was born on December 27, 1944 in Decatur, Ill., to Curtis and Doris (Peters) Hardy. She had lived in McDonald County, Mo., since 1975. She owned and operated Carol's Classic Grooming in Anderson, and the Grooming Depot in Grove. She was a former member of ESA in Anderson, and was a member of the Elks Club in Grove.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda S. Kilby of Anderson, Karen Spears of Rogers, Ark., and Jill Beshears of Anderson; a son, Johnnie Blevins, Jr., of Anderson; her mother, Doris M. Hardy of Goodman, Mo.; two brothers, Curtis Hardy, Jr., of Lakeside Calif., and Dennis E. Hardy of El Cajon, Calif.; four grandchildren, Chris Kilby, Nathan Spears, Kennedy and Hunter Beshears.
She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Hardy, Sr.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 21, at 2 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. Burial will be in the Anderson Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 20, until 8:00 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

OLLIE MAE BLEVINS
AFTON, Okla. - Ollie Mae Blevins, 81, died Sunday, November 4, 2001 at Integris Grove General Hospital. The daughter of John and Sarah Ann (Goins) Atterberry, she was born on July 18, 1920 in Ramona, Okla. Ollie married Fred P. Blevins in 1933 in Delaware County and he preceded her in death in 1983. She was a lifelong resident of the area. She enjoyed quilting and fishing and attended Trinity Baptist Church in Afton and Apostolic Jesus Name in Fairland, Okla. Also preceding her in death was one son, Glen Dale Blevins, on August 19, 1952.
Survivors include: seven children, Anita Lowery, Grove, Doice Blevins, Afton, Darrel Blevins, Afton, Gaylord Blevins, Grove, Minuard Blevins, Talala, Okla., Smokey Blevins, Collinsville, Okla. ,and Fred Blevins, Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Elizabeth Payte; 19 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, in the Delaware Baptist Church, Grove, with Larry Jackson and Lyle Chandler officiating. Interment will be in the Zena Cemetery. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, at the Worley-Luginbuel Chapel in Grove. The services are under the directions of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

JOHN BLOSSOM
SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - Johnson Blossom, 64, of Siloam Springs, Ark., passed away Sunday, April 8, 2001 at the Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. Johnson was born February 26, 1937 in Eucha, Okla. The son of Jonah and Cora Ann (Star) Blossom, Johnson married Iva Lee Bark on February 14, 1990 in Miami, Okla. Mr. Blossom was a former employee of Simmons Ind. Johnson was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing and Bluegrass music.
He is survived by his wife, Iva Blossom, Siloam Springs, Ark.; six children, Ima Jones, Colcord, Okla., Terry Bark, Colcord, Danny Blossom, Siloam Springs, Ark., Christopher Blossom, Wash., Johnny Blossom, Siloam Springs, Ark., and Shawn Blossom, Siloam Springs, Ark.; three step children, Eva Daniels, Siloam Springs, Ark., Arlene Rutherford, Gentry, Ark., and Arlie Reed, Kansas, Okla.; one brother, Melvin Blossom, Oaks, Okla.; three sisters, Mary Procter, Kenwood, Okla., Geneva Cloud, Los Angeles, Calif., and Anna Arneecher, Oologah, Okla.; 16 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Johnson was preceded in death by his first wife, Daisy (Ward) Blossom.
Services will be Friday, April 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Round Springs Baptist Church in Eucha, Okla. The Rev. Rufus King will officiate the service. Burial will be held at the Round Springs Cemetery under the direction of Backstrom-Payeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, Ark.
