EDNA MARIE BROWN
GROVE - Edna Marie Brown, 78, died Friday, November 23, 2001 at Cedar Hill, Mo. Services were held on Monday, November 26, at 10 a.m. at the Ellis Family Funeral Home Chapel in Grove with Rev. Larry Moore officiating. Burial was at New Salem Cemetery, Seneca, Mo.
Mrs. Brown was born October 29, 1923 to Herbert Chester Lawrence and Alta Leona Bates Lawrence in Smithfield, Mo. She married Floyd J. Brown on May 31, 1943. Mrs. Brown was a housewife and a member of Grand Lake Baptist Church.
She is survived by: her husband, Floyd; two sons, Floyd Jerry Brown, Cedar Hill, Mo., and Elmer Lee Brown, Seneca, Mo.; two brothers, Evert E. Lawrence, Neosho, Mo., and Herbie Neal Lawrence, Little Rock, Ark.; two sisters, Treva Kennedy, Grove, and Twla VanMeir, Goldsboro, N.C.; four grandchildren, Wendi Good, Christy Henderson, Shawn Brown and Serena Shelby; and one great grandchild, Sebastian Henderson.
Services were entrusted to Ellis Family Funeral Home, 107 S. Broadway, Grove, 918-786-5172.

FERN BROWN
GROVE - Alta Fern Brown, 55, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, December 30, 2001 at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2002 at Buzzard Cemetery with Dolphus Blevins officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ellis Family Funeral Home.
Fern Brown was born November 16, 1946 in Ozone, Ark., to Robert and Virgie (Harris) Hagerman. She married Charles F. Brown on December 10, 1967 in Wichita, Kan. Mrs. Brown worked at the Delaware County Friendship Home in Jay, Okla., for the last 13 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for seventeen years.
Survivors include: her husband, Charles F. Brown of Grove; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hagerman of Grove; three sons, James R. Brown of Afton, Okla., and Charles Lee Brown and Kevin Wayne Brown, both of Grove; one daughter, Charlynn Gayle Savage of Grove; two grandsons, Stormy Wofford and Daniel Savage, both of Grove; one foster granddaughter, Milie Hedgpath, Jay; four step grandchildren, Jimmy, Curtis, James and Charlyn Savage, all of Pottsville, Ark.; two sisters, Thelma Jean Kenney, Jay, and Roberta Lou Smith, Parsons, Kan., and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial gifts may be given to the Delaware County Friendship Home, P.O. Box 720, Jay, OK 74346.
Services are entrusted to Ellis Family Funeral Home, 197 S. Broadway, Grove, 918-786-5172.

MILO CURTIS BROWNING
GROVE - Milo Curtis Browning of Grove died early Saturday morning, April 14, 2001, at the Grand Lake Villa Nursing Home. He was 83. Mr. Browning was born July 25, 1917 to Albert Curtis and Nellie Jane Boyd Browning in Delaware County, Okla. After attending Grove Public Schools, he joined the United States Army during WWII. He retired from Phillips 66 Petroleum Co. in Borger, Texas in 1975. During that time he was a member of the Civil Conservatory Corp. He married Laura Leona Cook Browning May 24, 1943 at Chickasha, Okla. He and his wife have been coming to Grand Lake since 1962 from Borger, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Browning; one daughter, Sharron Elrod and husband, Jerry; one son, Shannon Browning and wife, Donna, both of Borger, Texas; two sisters, Lucille Cooper of Oklahoma City, and Wilma Shedblebar of Vinita, Okla.; one brother, Jerry Browning of Borger, Texas; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Services were 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 16, at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Rev. Dolphus Blevins officiated. Interment was at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Afton, Okla. Military rites conducted by the Grove Veterans Ritual Team.

SUSIE (TURNER) BROWNING
GROVE - Susie (Turner) Browning of Grove died Monday evening, October 22, 2001 at the Grand Lake Villa Nursing Center. She was 84. Mrs. Browning was born October 23, 1916 to Newt and Addie (Carr) Turner in Grove near the Carr community. She attended school in the Carr area and Grove Public Schools. She was a lifetime area resident and worked as a beautician. Mrs. Browning was a member of the First Christian Church in Grove and a member of the A.A.R.P. One brother, Aaron Turner, and one sister, Bessie Hampton, preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one son, Jarrell Browning and wife, Carol, Grove; one sister, Anna Lee Owen, Grove; two step-grand children; seven step-great grandchildren, and one step great-great grandchild.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 25,at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Rev. John E. Butler to officiate. Interment will be at the Olympus Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

WILLIAM "BILL" BROWNING
GROVE - William "Bill" Browning, age 87, died Monday, June 11, 2001 at the Betty Ann Nursing Home in Grove. The son of Charles T. Browning and Mary (Beukma) Browning, he was born September 8, 1913 in Kansas City, Mo. Bill moved to Grove in 1953. He retired from American Airlines as a mechanic in 1975. Bill operated the Grove Airport from 1976 to 1982, and ran the Miami Airport for several years. Bill married Burneva "Bea" Wolfe on September 8, 1967 in Mountain Home, Ark.
He is survived by his wife, Burneva "Bea" Browning, of Grove; two step-children, Larry Baker of Tulsa, Okla., and Judy Gray of Grove; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at the Worley-Luginbuel Chapel in Grove with Dr. Robin Cowin officiating. Donations may be made to Integris Regency Hospice, P.O. Box 1590, Miami, OK 74355. Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

CHARLES V. (BUN) BRYANT
FAIRLAND, Okla. - Charles V. (Bun) Bryant, long-time resident, died at Family Care Center of Fairland Friday, December 14, 2001 after a lengthy illness. He was 92. He was born June 23, 1909,at Turkey Ford, Okla., to Andrew and Susan Leader Bryant. He worked as a minor for the Helen/H Mining Co., and several other mining companies. He also provided for his family as a farmer. He married Flossie F. Phillips on December 24, 1929 at Jay. She preceded him in death in 1997. He was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Bryant, Jr. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Fairland where he served in many capacities, and enjoyed playing the guitar with his singing partner, Ralph Higinbotham.
He is survived by two sons and their wives, James and Barbara Bryant and Ellis and Donna Bryant, all of Fairland; four daughters, Sharon and husband, Dwight Pathkiller, of Bernice, Jeneda and husband, Jack Whiteley, of Carthage, Mo., Dorothy and husband, Rev. Harold Brannan, of Claremore, and Thelma Koger of Pocatello, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, at the First Assemble of God Church in Fairland with Rev. Harold Brannan and Rev. Mike Stevens officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Higinbotham, Leo Bunce, Bill Blaylock, Bob Townsend, Jack Crafton, and Charley Crafton. Burial will follow at Fairland Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Adcock Funeral Home in Fairland. Arrangements are under the direction of Adcock Funeral Home of Fairland.

HARVEY LEE BUDDER
EUCHA, Okla. - Harvey Lee Budder of Eucha died Monday morning, August 20, 2001, at his home. He was 54.
Mr. Budder was born April 1, 1947 to George and Ada (Chew) Budder at Eucha. He was a general laborer and a lifetime area resident.
Survivors include: one son, Raymond Davis of Colcord, Okla.; four brothers, Jack Budder, Nelson Budder, James Budder, and Mose Budder, all of Eucha; three sisters, Mary King, Darlene Budder, and Brenda McKibben, all of Eucha.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 22, at the Euwasha Cemetery in Kenwood. Rev. Richard Budder will officiate. Family visitation will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.

JACK LEE BUDS BUDDER
EUCHA, Okla. - Jack Lee Buds Budder of Eucha, Okla., died Tuesday, November, 27, 2001 at the Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa. He was 58.
Mr. Budder was born March 8, 1943 to George and Ada (Chewey) Budder in Delaware County. He served in the United States Army and worked as a laborer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Proctor, in 1997.
Survivors include: two sons: Jack Donovan of Rose, Okla., and Donnie Lee Budds of Eucha; three daughters, Donna Sue Budds, Donnella Sue Budds, and Dianna (Budds) Nofire, all of Eucha; three brothers, Moses Budder, James Budder, and Nelson Budder, all of Eucha; three sisters, Mary Lee King of Eucha, Darlene Budder of Joplin, Mo., and Brenda McKibben of Salina, Okla., and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, November 30, at the Euwasha Church in Kenwood. Rev. Richard Budder to officiate. Interment will be at the Euwasha Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. Thursday at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.

CLARENCE ARTHUR BURBAGE
HOUSTON, Texas - Clarence Arthur Burbage, 86, died October 3, 2001. He was born November 14, 1914 at Row, (IT) Indian Territory, Okla., to Charles and Stella Burbage, deceased. He attended Row Elementary, graduated from Colcord High School and from Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, Okla., with a B.S. Degree in Business Education and Social Science. Arthur worked for the Selective Service System for 1.5 years before being drafted as a Private in World War II and left the service as a Major in USAR 249th Engineers Combat Battalion under General George S. Patton. He served in four campaigns (Northern France, Ardennes, Battle of the Bulge, Rhine Crossing and Germany). After four years of service he entered civilian life as an employee of EXXON Corporation for more than 33 years and retired January 1980.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, of 54 years; son John C. Burbage and wife, Becky; daughter, Stephanie, Houston, Texas; son, Craig A. Burbage and wife, Wendy; sons, Blake and Larkin; daughter, Mallory, Littleton, Colo.; sister, Ruth Persson, Tulsa, Okla.; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and many friends.
Interment was in Houston Memorial Cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. J. Ernest Turney at the Ashford United Methodist Church, 2201 S. Dairy Ashford, Houston. Remembrance contributions may be made to Ashford United Methodist Church.

RALPH BURTON BURDETTE
GROVE - Ralph Burton Burdette Jr., 54, of Grove, formerly of West Mineral, Kan., died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2001 at the Grove General Hospital in Grove of a sudden death. He was born July 14, 1946 in Columbus, Kan., the son of Ralph Burton and Willa June Creger Burdette. He had been a resident of Grove for one year, moving from North Little Rock, Ark. where he lived for 11 years, moving from West Mineral, Kan., where he lived most of his life. He attended West Mineral Public Schools, graduated from Southeast High School in Cherokee, Kans. in 1964, and attended Pittsburg State University for two years. He married Mary Ruth Stapleton on May 21, 1982 in Miami, Okla. Mr. Burdette was an electrician working on the MKT and the Union Pacific Railroads for 30 years, retiring in 2000. Membership was held in the Prudence Masonic Lodge #100 in Columbus, Kan., the Scottish Rite of Freemasonary Valley of Fort Scott, Kan., the Mirza Temple Shrine in Pittsburg, the Mirza Stables #119 Ancient Order of Camel Herders, and the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity of Pittsburg State University.
His is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Burdette, of the home in Grove; two sons, Bryan Burdette of Pittsburg and Broc Burdette of West Mineral, Kan.; his father and step-mother, Ralph Sr. and Patricia Burdette of Pittsburg, Kan.; three grandchildren, Bryce Burdette and Jace Burdette, both of Pittsburg, and Cole Burdette of West Mineral, Kan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Willa Burdette.
The Prudence Masonic Lodge #100 of Columbus will conduct Masonic services at 7 p.m. Friday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 104 West Main St., Weir, Kan., where the family will receive friends after the Masonic service until 8 p.m. Private services will be Saturday at the Bath-Naylor Chapel in Weir, with the Rev. George Powers and Elder Larry Reynolds officiating. Cremation will follow with inurnment in the Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir, Kan.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday to sign the guest register, the casket will remain closed. The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Memorials may be left or mailed to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St. Weir, KS 66781.

HAZEL L. BURGESS
EUCHA, Okla. - Hazel L. Burgess, age 82, of Eucha, Okla. died Thursday, May 3, 2001 in her home in Eucha. The daughter of John and Maude (Dunnagan) Warren, she was born on August 13, 1918 in Reed Springs, Mo. Hazel married John Fletcher Brantley in 1938 and he preceded her in death in 1966. She moved from California to Jay, Okla. in 1967 and later married Ershel Burgess. He preceded her in death in June of 2000. She sold watermelon and corn in Jay for many years, mostly to see her friends. Hazel was a member of the Mt. Hermon Church. Also preceding her in death were two children, Deloris Ann Brantley in 1948 and Don Brantley in 1990.
She is survived by seven children, John Brantley of Jay, Della Dyer of Collinsville, Okla., Maxine Brantley of Oologah, Okla., Mike Brantley of Jay, Danny Brantley of Collinsville, Okla., Jim Brantley of Collinsville, Okla., and Rick Brantley of Bixby, Okla.; four brothers, Troy Warren of Grove, John Warren of Jay, Gene Warren of Montana, and Estel Warren of Disney, Okla.; a sister, Mary Ann Carroll of Eucha; 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral was at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 7, in the Free Holiness Church in Eucha. The interment was in the Eucha Cemetery. The services are under the directions of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.

LOUISE BUTLER
FAIRLAND, Okla. - Louise Butler died at the Miami Nursing Center Tuesday after a lengthy illness. She was 76. She was born to George and Addie Glenn Gale at Augusta, Texas, on December 2, 1924. She married Arlis Butler on December 17, 1945 at Augusta. She was a housewife who had a lawn mowing business that she enjoyed. She had lived at Fairland for the past 50 years, coming here from Augusta. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fairland.
She is survived by: her husband, Arlis; two sons, Raymond Butler, Fairland, and Bobby Joe Butler, Houston, Texas; two daughters, Deby Lynn, Bella Vista, Ark., and Tricia and husband, Calvin Jones, Miami, Okla.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Fairland with Rev. Jo Ann Robinson officiating. Pallbearers will be Marty Oakley, Gary Hill, Greg Cox, Jim Sherard, Larry Love, and Jim Love. Burial will follow at Sulphur Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Friday, at Adcock Funeral Home in Fairland. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Sulphur Bend Cemetery Fund in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are provided by Adcock Funeral Home of Fairland.

DONAL A. BUTTS
GROVE - Donal A. Butts entered into rest on Thursday, October 25, 2001 in Grove. He was 82-years-old. Born on March 22, 1919 in Fairfax, Okla., to Robert L. Butts and Cora Ellen Triplett, Donal was raised in the Hominy area, a 1937 graduate of Mound Valley High School, then went to the Oklahoma School of Accountancy, Law and Finance in Tulsa, Okla., graduating in 1940. He married Betty Joe Fortner March 8,1941 then started a family in the Tulsa area, where he lived until his wife died in 1986. He then moved to Grove and married Edna Fortner in 1987. He worked for Amoco Corporation for 37 years until his retirement as Senior Accounting Clerk. He was a deacon of the Broadway Baptist Church in Sand Springs, Okla., a member of the Commanders Club of the D.A.V., a contributor to the Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Foundation, a lifetime member of the Oklahoma University Dads Club, and a big big O.U. Football fan. Donal loved gardening and quail hunting.
Donal leaves behind: his wife, Lorraine Edna (Fortner) Butts; four daughters, Carolyn Sue Cameron and husband, Bill, Gilbralter, Mich., Donna Jo Anderson and husband, Bill, High Bridge, N.J., Vera Ellen Clifford and husband, Bob, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Lola Faye Pollack and husband, Dr. Robert, La Mesa, Calif.; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Donal was preceded in death by both his parents, his first wife, Betty Joe Fortner, three brothers, Elston, Roy, and Norris (Jay), and two sisters, Severy and Lola.
Services for Donal A. Butt were held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 29, at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Hominy with Dr. Jerry Hopkins officiating. Interment was at A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers were Derek Horn, Bill Cameron, Bill Anderson Bob Gifford, Rick Crenshaw, and Dr. Robert Pollack.
