Luker

Willie Mae Luker, 81, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2000 at the First Baptist Church of Hollis with the Rev. James Densman and the Rev. David Furlow officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Patterson-Greer Funeral Home of Hollis.

She was born July 5, 1918, in Fort Worth, Texas to Willie and Mary Mitchel. She married Cecil Luke Dec. 24, 1943, in Hollis. She was a life long resident of Harmon County and was a member of the First Baptist Church where taught Sunday School for many years. She taught math English in the Hollis School system for 36 years.

Survivors include her husband, Cecil Luker, of the home: two sisters, Grace Hunter and Geneva Cates both of Norman; many nieces and nephews.

Madden

WICHITA, Kan. - Doris Wynell Madden, 77, died in Wichita, Kan.. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Downing-Lake Mortuary in Wichita. Burial will be at Lakeview Garden Cemetery in Wichita.

She was born Aug. 24, 1922 to Edgar and Eliza (Rosenbaum) Shield. She married Norris Madden July 15, 1940 at Wellington, Kan. She attended school in Altus and graduated from Altus High School in 1940.

Survivors include her husband, Morris of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Donna Madden of Lexington, Ky.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Marilyn Madden of Kansas City, Mo. and Susan and Terry Shain of Wichita; a sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Carlus Kastner of Altus; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Gene Shield of Los Angeles and a sister, Mary Hayes of Amarillo, Texas.

Mains

Danny Mack Mains, 46, Olustee, died Saturday Jan. 22, 2000 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2000 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Edwin Wiginton II officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

He was born Nov. 1, 1953 in Altus to Samuel Frederick and Lavon Mains McMahon. He married Carl Ann Ballard Feb. 2, 1972 in Vernon, Texas. He was a graduate of Navajo High School and very active member of the First Baptist Church of Olustee.

Survivors include his wife, Carl Ann of the home in Olustee; three children, Danny Mack Mains II and his wife Cynthia of Olustee, Carla Fancher and husband Tony of Altus and Tiffany Bearden of Olustee; his mother, Lavon McMahan of Olustee; his father, Samuel Frederick Mains II and wife Julia of Vian; two brothers, Samuel Frederick Mains III of Golden, Colo, and Michael Mains and wife, Carla of Tulsa; a grandson, Colbie Mack Fancher of Altus and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Samuel Frederick Mains and a step-father, John Robert McMahan.

Memorials may be made to the Olustee First Baptist Church Building fund in memory of Danny Mack Mains.

Mask

Services for Dr. Bill H. Mask, 70, Mountain Park, will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Snyder with the Rev. Ken Pate, pastor of the First United Methodist Church Altus, and the Rev. Jeff Flowers, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Snyder officiating. He died Sunday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital officiating. Burial will be at the Centerville Cemetery, west of Mountain Park, under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Snyder.

He was born Nov. 11, 1929 in Mountain Park. He married Charlena Dempsey Sept. 29, 1950 in Lawton. He practiced medicine in Hobart and Oklahoma City, from 1971 to 1997.

Survivors include his wife, Charlena of the home; three children, Keland Mask and his wife, Barbara of Oklahoma City, Tena Von Tungeln, Altus and Jon Mask of Norman; a sister, Brenda Wilhite of Snyder; three granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.

Masters

Services for Paula Sue Lauderdale Masters, 68-year-old Hollis resident will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Kincannon Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. She died in her home on Tuesday.

She was born Sept. 1, 1931, Olustee to Paul and Maxine (Smith) Kaufman. She grew up in Olustee and graduated from Olustee High School in 1949. She married Clois Lauderdale Aug. 1, 1948 and they made their home in Eldorado. He died in December, 1969 and Sue then made her home in Altus in 1970. In June 1980, she married Glynn Masters in Hollis, where they made their home. Her hobbies included crocheting, collecting Avon, watching sports and the Dallas Cowboys on television.

Survivors include her children, Darla Adams and her husband, Harley of Concordia, Kan., Max Lauderdale and his wife, Jana of Norman, Joe Lauderdale of Irvine, Calif., Kim Whisenant of Hollis, Candy Masters of Stinnett, Texas, Cindy Jefferson of Hollis, Brent Masters of Moore and Rick Masters of Weatherford; her mother, Maxine Kaufman of Olustee; two sisters and their husbands, Vicki and Jerry Pippin of Mangum and Darlene and Wally Albers of Bella Vista, Ark. a brother and his wife, Jerry and Nancy Kaufman of Weatherford; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, others relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by his father, Paul Kaufman in 1979; husbands Clois Lauderdale in 1969 and Glynn Masters in 1997.

Mealer

Susan Kathleen (Waggoner) Mealer, 51, Blair, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kincannon Chapel with Pastor Maurice Hibbard officiating. A graveside commital will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Sharon Cemetery in Gotebo, under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Mealer was born March 30, 1948, in Oklahoma City, to Charles Edward and Ella Mae Eskew Waggoner. She graduated from Putnam City High School in 1966 and Cameron University in 1981. She married Johnny Mealer June 9, 1983, in Altus and was employed as coordinator of the Taliaferro Mental Health Clinic in Altus. She was also a registered nurse and a counselor at the clinic.

She was a member of the American Kennel Club and loved animals and enjoyed raising miniature Schnauzers.

She was preceded in death by her father and a daughter, Lisa Burnett.

Survivors include: her husband, Johnny of the home; a daughter, Crystal Rose Patterson and her husband Tim of Blair; three sons, Wayne Edward Birk, Chico, Calif., Jason Corey Birk and his wife Kelley, Leesville, La. and Joshua Lee Mealer and Samantha Wilson, Altus; three grandchildren, Matthew Alan Birk, Tyler Corey Birk and Alexander Bradley Shields; her mother, Ella Mae Waggoner, Pembrook Pines, Fla.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Joy Mealer, Altus; a brother, George Waggoner, Pembrook Pines, Fla. and many friends.

Monnier

QUINCY, Ill. - Gayle S. Monnier, 81, Quincy, Ill, formerly of Mangum died Sunday at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Lamporte Funeral Home of Carthage, Ill with Fr. J.A. Small officiating. Burial will be in the Graham Cemetery near Basco, Ill.

She was born May 17, 1918 at Mangum to William S. and Ida Mae Darnell Steimer. She married John Edward Monnier Oct. 4, 1944 at Little Rock, Ark.

She was a United States Army veteran serving as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Nurses Corp during World War II. Her hobbies included cooking, playing cards and being with her family.

Survivors include her husband, John Edward Monnier; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary E. Gary Reed of Quincy, Lou Ann and David Metternich of Nauvoo, Ill and Nancy J. Halpin of Easton, Pa.; six sons and four daughters-in-law, Daniel W. and Kathy Monnier of Arlington, Texas, John Robert and Pam Monnier of Kingsport, Pa., Paul A. and Theresa of Warsaw, Ill., Mark G. and Becky Nommier of Niota, Ill., Stephen F. Monnier of Wausau, Wis. and David E. Monnier of Dallas City, Ill.; a brother, Darnell Steimer of Eufaula and a sister, LaVerne Green of Altus; 21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one step-brother.

Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Homes Activities Fund.

Moore

Billy Frank Moore died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at the age of 66. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Hollis with the Rev. Clem Dozer officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Patterson-Greer Funeral Home in Hollis.

Moore was born June 28, 1933, in Hollis, to Wilcy and Grace Sapp Moore. He was a life long resident of Harmon County and graduated from Hollis High School and farmed for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilcy and Grace Moore.

Survivors include: two sons, Bill Moore and his wife Joanie, Edmond and Brent Moore of Hollis; two daughters, Melissa Nault, Atlanta, Ga. and Pamela Miller and her husband Scott of Owasso; one step-daughter, Vickie Beard of Owasso; two brothers, Cy Moore of Hollis and Udell Moore of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Lavonia Sheid of Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren, Dustin Moore, Hollis, Jordon Moore, Edmond and Michael Logan Moore of Cordell.

Memorial may be made to the Hollis High School Athletic Department and Band.

Murphy

William "Bill" Murphy, Sr., 62, died Sunday at the Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Kincannon-lee Chapel with the rev. C.W. Parker officiating. Graveside services with full military honors will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born Dec. 3, 1937 in Youngstown, Ohio to Edward Murphy, Sr. and Mildred Whitacre Murphy. He attended school in Youngstown and married Gereta Shipley Nov. 12, 1956 in Vernon, Texas. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served in Vietnam. He was stationed at bases all over the world including, Germany, Hawaii, Topeka, Kan.; Wichita Falls, Texas; and Massachusetts.

He retired from the Air Force in 1975. He and his family moved to Altus in 1976. He was the circulation manager at the Altus Times for 18 years and retired in 1994. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His hobbies included umpiring little league and American Legion baseball and men's ASA sanctioned softball, playing pool, shuffleboard, yardwork and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Amber Murphy; and two brothers, Edward Murphy, Jr. and Donald Murphy.

Survivors include his wife, Gereta of the home; a daughter, Robin Thompson of Altus; three sons and two daughters-in-law, William Murphy, Jr., Altus; Dennis and Teresa Murphy, Altus, Tim and Gloria Murphy, Altus; a sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and George Adams and a brother, Dennis Murphy all of Youngstown, Ohio; a father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Maye Watts of Temple, Texas and many other friends and relatives.

The Murphy family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Kincannon Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma medical Research Foundation, heart Division, in care of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Neighbors

Verdie E. Neighbors, 91, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at Bryan County Manor in Durant. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. today at Greer Funeral Home Chapel in Mangum.

Neighbors was born Oct. 17, 1908, near Willow Grove, Tenn. She was one of 11 children born to Tom Burr Sr. and Maggie Maxfield Neighbors.

In 1910, Neighbors moved with her parents and grandparents to the Granite area where they became one of the pioneer families in the community. The family lived near the Quartz community south of town for several years, then eventually relocated to Lake Creek. She attended Fairview and Lake Creek schools.

In August of 1921, she was saved and baptized at the First Baptist Church of Granite where her grandfather, Newell E. Neighbors was serving as pastor.

For the past several years, she had lived in a convalescent home in Durant.

Neighbors was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Herman, Lloyd and Tom Burr, Jr. and her sisters, Alice and Mattie, as well as an infant brother buried at Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church cemeterynear Oakley, Tenn.

Survivors include: her sisters, Mary of Rochester, N.Y. and LaVanna of Maui, Hawaii and two brothers, Doc of Louisville, Ken. and Billy of Yorba Linda, Calif.

Nolen

Joe Bob Nolen, died Thursday in Okmulgee. Services are pending at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Parrish

Daniel Bruce Parrish died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000. He was born in Altus on Nov. 15, 1930. He attended Altus Schools, was a Korean War Veteran and received a bachelor's degree at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. He was the owner and manager of "The Lumber Shed" lumber yard in Oklahoma City since 1960.

He is survived by his wife Virginia and son Patrick, both of Edmond; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Patterson and nephew Perry Patterson.

He asked before his death that memorial contributions be sent to the Oklahoma Cancer Research Foundation. Graveside services, under the direction of Baggerley Funeral Home, are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond.

Pigg

Keith Pigg, 94, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at North Bay Hospital in Aransas Pass, Texas. Graveside services were held Friday, Jan. 14 at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAllen, Texas, with the Rev. Floyd Connors officiating. Skinner Silva Funeral Home of Edinburg, Texas, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Pigg was preceded in death by his wife Allene; his parents, Clarence and Lucy Pigg; a sister, Doris Bailey and his two brothers, Cloys and Jess Pigg.

Survivors include: three daughters, Mona Keith, Martha (Fred) Bingham and Billie Beasley; a sister, Maxine Booth ; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
