PHYLIS N. HEY
MIAMI, Okla. - Phylis N. Hey died at Integris Baptist Regional health Center in Miami, Okla., on October 20, 2001 after a lengthy illness. She was 75. She was born at Pittsburg, Kan., on December 18, 1925, to William and Mary Gravitt Callow. She married Charles M. Hey on January 20, 1945. They moved to Miami in 1948, where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Zeta Mother's Club, and URW Aux. She worked as a clerk for the Ottawa County Election Board for 18 years before retiring.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; a son, John Hey, Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Sherry Stoner and husband, Eddy, Fairland, Okla.; two brothers, Ray Callow, Kansas City, Mo., and Glen Callow, Columbus, Kan.; three grandchildren, Darren Stoner, Amy Stoner Lurvey, and Ryan Stoner; and four great-grandchildren, Dacie and Dryce Stoner, and Evan and Eli Lurvey.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at Miami First United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Horton officiating. Pallbearers will be Leonard Munson, Bill Nance, Jack Myers, Art Guerrieri, Joe Goforth, and Ernie Green. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Miami First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Fairland Cemetery, Fairland, Okla. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either Miami First United Methodist Church or Integris Hospice in care of the funeral home. Arrangements provided by Adcock Funeral Home of Fairland.

THOMAS SHERMAN HEYDT
MIAMI, Okla. - Thomas Sherman Heydt, Sr., 78, of Miami, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at his home after a sudden illness. Mr. Heydt was born April 30, 1922 in Wichita, Kan. to William Sherman and Martha Jane (Christal) Heydt. He has lived in Miami since 1997, moving here from Pinedale, Wyo. Mr. Heydt served with the Navy during WWII. He was a custodian for the Big Piney Elementary school, retiring in 1984. Memberships include All Saints Episcopal Church in Miami and the VFW. Two brothers, Harry Heydt and Claude Heydt, and a sister, Vivian Maxine Bevans, preceded him in death.
He is survived by a son, Tom Heydt, Jr. of Big Piney, Wyo.; three daughters, Judy Peell of Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, Frances McNally of Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Debbie Malloch of South Weymont, Mass.; a brother, Francis Heydt of Miami; a sister, Martha Sullivan of Albuquerque, N.M., and seven grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, in the All Saints Episcopal Church in Miami. Father Jack Sanders will officiate. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, Kan. under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.

ROBERT EUGENE HICKLE
FAIRLAND, Okla. - Robert Eugene Hickle, resident of Fairland, died at his home Thursday, December 6, 2001 after a sudden illness. He was 62. He was born August 30, 1939 to Curt and Madge Pershall Hickle at Garber, Okla. He graduated from Garber High School with the class of 1957. He was a graduate of Central State University at Edmond. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot. His hobby after leaving the service was flying. He had worked for the Carrier School System in North Enid as an Industrial Arts Instructor. He moved to Fairland in 2001 and worked as a case worker for the state of Oklahoma Department of Human Services. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Enid, and the Enid Elks Lodge, where he has served as exalted ruler.
He is survived by a brother and his wife, Curt Lee and Sandy Hickle, of Cleveland, Ohio, and a sister, Karen Sue Moore, of Charlotte, N.C.
A funeral service will be held at Anderson-Buries Funeral Home in End at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 9. Interment will follow at Mullah Cemetery, Mullah, Okla. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Arrangements provided by Adcock Funeral Home of Fairland.

LORENA FAYE HICKS
TEMPE, Ariz. - Lorena Faye Hicks, Tempe, Ariz., died at her home July 13, 2001 after an illness. She was 68. Mrs. Hicks was born January 6, 1933 to Roy and Mary Edith Chanley Creason at Dennis. She attended school at Oak Grove, just west of Adair. She had lived at Tempe since 1975, moving there from Adair.
She married Vernon Wells on June 26, 1948. He preceded her in death on November 9, 1969. She retired from the Motorola Corp., where she had worked on the assembly line. She married Jimmie Hicks on April 5, 1985.
Surviving are: her husband, of the home; two sons, James P. Wells of Peoria, Ariz., and John Wells and wife, Artie, of Festus, Mo.; three daughters, Marilou Jarrett and husband, Roy, of Oklahoma City, Marcia Nolan and husband, Bobby, of Riverdale, Ga., and Glenda Keeler and husband, Richard, of El Reno; 22 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at Adcock Chapel in Fairland at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21. Pallbearers will be Chris Keeler, Michael Keeler, Richard Keeler, Micah Wells, Carl Wells, and Evan Nolan.
Burial will follow at Rolston Cemetery on Monkey Island. Arrangements provided by Adcock Funeral Home of Fairland.

GEORGE 'JIGGS' HILLIARD
GROVE - George "Jiggs" Hilliard, 84, died Tuesday morning November 20, 2001 at his home. Mr. Hilliard was born April 3, 1917 to Robert Edward and Norma Danton (May) Hilliard at Tiff City, Okla. He attended school at Big Bone School and Tiff City School. He worked various jobs including B.F. Goodrich in Miami, Okla., for a short time, but most of his life he raised dairy cows on his farm. He married Rebecca Lee Hilliard June 16, 1945 in Grove. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include: one son, Wes Hilliard, and one daughter, Donna Mouser, both of Turkey Ford; two brothers, Clay Hilliard and Leroy Hilliard, both of Turkey Ford; three sisters, Bessie Simmons, Neosho, Mo., Else Jones, Turkey Ford, and Ruth Gray, Toppeish, Wash.; three grandchildren, Ginnie Mouser Lucky, Dee Hilliard, and Michael Mouser; and three great grandchildren, Haley Mouser, Rebecca Lucky and Anthony Lucky.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 23, at the Council House Cemetery, Turkey Ford area. Rev. Larry Pickard to officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grand Lake Shriners. Services are under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

VERNON DALE HIVELY
DEWEY, Okla. - Vernon Dale Hively, 69, a resident of Dewey, Okla., died at 10:13 a.m. on Friday in the Cardiac Care Unit of the Jane Phillips Memorial Medical Center, Bartlesville.
Funeral services for Mr. Hively were held at 1 p.m. on Monday in the Sanctuary of the Dewey United Methodist Church. The Rev. Donald G. "Don" Simpson and Mr. Bobby Lipscomb were the officiants. Committal prayers and interment were directed in the Dewey Cemetery by the Arnold Moore-Dewey Funeral Home.
Dale Hively was born on October 23, 1931 near Wideman, Ark. He was the son of Edgar Lee and Haley Adeline (Smith) Hively. The Hively family moved to Texas by covered wagon and farmed and ranched on the border of Oklahoma and Texas. He was reared and received his education in Wellington, Texas, and was on the Varsity basketball and baseball teams. He was vice-president of his junior class and was elected president of his senior class. He spent one year in the Texas National Guard then, at the Korean Outbreak, he joined the U.S. Air Force and spent four years in service. He received honorable discharge in 1953 as a Staff Sergeant. He and the former Wanda Haas were married in 1952 and made their home in Neosho, Mo., Pittsburg, Kan., and Anderson, Mo. In 1978, he and the former Belva Inda were married in Dewey, Okla., and made their home there. Mr. Hively was active in farming and in the floor covering business all his life. After moving to Dewey, he was an installer and storeowner for 20 years. He was manager and co-owner of Floorcraft in Bartlesville and owner of Cottage Carpets in Dewey. Mrs. Hively was formerly employed by the Phillips Petroleum Co. until she retired in 1992. Since that time, Mr. and Mrs. Hively have continued living in Dewey in retirement as well as in Grove and their winter home in Texas.
Mr. Hively was active in club and organizational activities and served all offices in his American Legion Post in Kansas. He also served as Commander of the Third District in Kansas. He was also active and served all offices including President of the Dewey Kiwanis Club. He was an avid fisherman.
Mr. Hively was a gospel singer and attended singing schools in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri. The Hively family also had their own traveling quartet. Mr. Hively was a songwriter as well. He was a member of the Dewey United Methodist Church.
Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Belva (Inda) Hively, of the home; a son, Allen Dale, Tulsa; two step daughters, Mrs. David (Mclodie) Alleman, Bartlesville, and Mrs. Bobby (Debbie) Lipscomb, Tahlequah; a step son-in-law, Jerry Lynch, Bartlesville; two sisters, Bonnie Gay Brumfield, Neosho, Mo., and Audie Burks, Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Lavon Hively, Manchester, Tenn.; his grandchildren, B.J. and Johnnie Dye, Micah and Caseylee Lipscomb, Luke Hively, Sarah, Nathan and Joseph Dale Alleman, and a great grandchild, Lexy Lipscomb. In addition to his father and mother, Dale was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Noma Bruin.

VERNON LEROY HOBBS
SPAVINAW, Okla. - Vernon Leroy Hobbs, 78, passed away September 13, 2001 at his home in Spavinaw. Vernon was born September 5, 1953 to Sam and Molley Finacle Hobbs in Henryetta, Okla. He attended school in Wagoner, Okla., and at the age of 17 enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a Chief Pharmicist Mate. In 1944 he received an honorable discharge from the Navy and began his career as a pharmacist. He was employed as a pharmacist with T. Roy Barnes Drugry in Tulsa for many years. In 1983 he moved to Spavinaw and served as Mayor in 1989. He was also a member of the Spavinaw Methodist Church. At the age of 62, Vernon retired from the Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Grove. During his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, camping and watersports. He was a loving father and husband. Vernon was preceded in death by three brothers: Amos Hobbs, Walter Hobbs, and Howard Hobbs, and two sisters, Bess and Edith.
Survivors are: his wife, Berta, of the home; one son, Johnny Hobbs and wife, Glenda, of Galveston, Texas; two daughters, Linda Conwell and husband, Wayne, of Wagoner, Okla., and Janet Miller and husband, Terry, of Tulsa; two stepsons, Gary Perigo and wife, Loretta, of Tulsa, and Tim Perigo and wife, Carolyn, of Neosho, Mo.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.
Family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Spavinaw Methodist Church. Memorial Services were held Monday, September 17, at 10 a.m. at the Spavinaw Methodist Church. Officiating was Rev. Ted Hoffman. Lunch was served after the service. Services were under the direction of the Turner Funeral Chapel, Langley.

JOHN YOUNG HOLCOMBE
GROVE - John Young Holcombe, 96, passed away Monday, October 22, 2001. Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, at The First Baptist Church in Grove. John was laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hiwassee, Ark. Services were under the direction of the Turner Funeral Home.

OPAL LADOSCA HOLDEN
VINITA, Okla. - Opal Ladosca Holden, 86-year-old Vinita resident, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2001 at Craig General Hospital. Opal was born February 11, 1915 in Tamaha, Okla. to Robert and Ethel McCoy. Opal was a retired owner and operator of a laundry/dry cleaning business. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vinita. Opal was united in marriage to O.D. "Ted" Holden in 1935 at Haskell, Okla. They moved to this area in 1946. He preceded her in death November 10, 1991. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one son, James A. Holden.
Opal is survived by one daughter, Nancy Morin of Vinita; daughter-in-law, Paula Lassiter of Tulsa; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Graveside services were 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, at Fairview Cemetery in Vinita. Dr. Henry Haynes officiated. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Burckhalther Funeral Home.

ALTA MAE HENDREN HOLLENBACK
JAY, Okla. - Alta Hollenback, age 80, died Saturday, June 30, 2001 in the Northwest Arkansas Medical Center in Springdale, Ark. The daughter of Albert and Mattie (Potter) Hendren, she was born on March 15, 1921 in Delaware County at their family farm on Spavinaw Creek near Colcord. She married Claude Hollenback on March 15, 1941 in West Maysville, Okla. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Valda Hendren, and Stasha Hensley, and three brothers, Clarence (Buster), Lon and Joe Hendren.
Surviving are her husband, Claude Hollenbeck, of Jay; three children, Betty Turner and husband, Tommy, of Decatur, Ark., Jim Hollenback and wife, Cathy, of Spavinaw, Okla., and Barb Barnes and husband, Barney, of Eucha; a brother, Bill Hendren of Colcord; two sisters, Della Roach of Tahlequah, and usie Cockrell of Colcord; nine grandchildren, Dale Harris, Tina Denny, Penny Kumm, Jamie Stewart, Leah Morgan, Jimmie Hollenback, Jason Hollenback, Billy Barnes, and Ben Barnes; 12 great-grandchildren, Michael Harris, LaDale Harris, Terrill Denny, Brittany Denny, Cody Kumm, Courtney Kumm, Shelby Stewart, D.J. Stewart, Jacob Morgan, Taylor Morgan, Jimmie Hollenbeck, and Hadlee Hollenbeck.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 2, at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Hendren officiating. The interment was at the Rowe Cemetery near Colcord. The services were under the directions of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.

FERREL K. HOOVER
GROVE - Ferrel Hoover, age 78, died Sunday, December 23, 2001 in the Grove General Hospital. The son of Elmer and Ida (Hartgraves) Hoover, he was born on December 23, 1923 in Bixby, Ok. Ferrel was a Deacon and former song leader in the Zena Baptist Church. He worked for over 35 years for the Grove Public School as a bus driver and mechanic retiring on July 1, 1984. He was a veteran of WWII , serving in the U.S. Navy. He married Nancy Lorain Jones on January 9, 1943, and she died on October 29, 1980. He later married P.J. Jones on October 2, 1982.
Surviving are his wife P.J. Hoover in Grove; three children, Marvin Hoover and wife, Sandy, in Commerce, Ok., Bucky Hoover in Ft. Carson, Co., Ruthie Viles and husband, Sonny, in Zena; a step-son Don Witte in Fairland, Ok.; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, in the Zena Baptist Church. The interment will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. There will be a visitation for family and friends at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. The services are under the directions of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Ok.

EDITH A. HOPKINS
CRIDERSVILLE, OHIO - Edith A. Hopkins, 83, Cridersville, Ohio, died at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Otterbein-Cidersville retirement community. She was born Aug. 11, 1917 in Fowler, Colo. to Preston B. and Edith Ann (Johnson) Pettypool. Both parents are deceased. On July 22, 1945 she married Virgil C. Hopkins.
She is survived by her husband, Virgil C. Hopkins, of Otterbein-Cridersville, Ohio; a foster son and daughter-in-law, Boyd and Claudith Burkey, of Lima, Ohio; two sisters, Helen Larson, Greiss Valley, Calif., and Ruby Fenley, Auburn, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Arletta Brandon and Beulah Pettypool.
Mr. Hopkins was a homemaker and had been a typist for a credit bureau. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grove.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, April 17, at 2:00 p.m. at the Neosho IOOF Cemetery, Pastor Robin Cowan will officiate. Friends may call Monday, April 16, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. Contributions in memorial of Mrs. Hopkins may be made to the Otterbein-Cridersville or to St. Rita's Medical Center Hospice Program, c/o Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. Local arrangements under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.

FERN E. HOUCK
GROVE - Fern Evelyn Houck, age 85, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001 in Joplin, Mo. The daughter of William Todd and Edna (Malo) Todd, she was born on September 11, 1915 in Missouri. Fern married Herman Houck and he preceded her in death in 1983. She lived most all her life in the Starr Community near Grove, where she was active in community functions. Fern worked for 18 years in the 1960-70's at the Burlington Garment Factory in Miami.
Also preceding in death were her parents, a brother, Fred Todd, and a sister, Ruth Wagoner.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
The funeral was at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 29, at the graveside in the Southwest City Cemetery with John E. Butler officiating. The services were under the directions of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

NOMA TURLEY HOWELL
SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - Noma Turley Howell, 87-year-old resident of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at her home. Born December 28, 1913 in Magazine, Ark., she was the daughter of Mack Humbly and Martha Houston Hamby. Mrs. Howell had been a resident of Siloam Springs since 1952. She grew up in the Tulsa, Okla. area. She was ordained as an Assembly of God minister at the age of 16. Mrs. Howell had been the pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Bethel Heights, Ark., and Colcord, Okla., as well as numerous other churches outside Northwest Arkansas and Northeast Oklahoma. She attended First Assembly of God Church in Siloam Springs. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Turley, in August 1971, and her second husband, Clarence Howell, in October 1989.
Survivors include: one son, David Turley and his wife, Mary, of Waynesboro, Tenn.; one daughter, Iretha Jordan of Siloam Springs; three grandchildren, Edwin Jordan and his wife, Debbie, of Siloam Springs, Lisa Christenson and her husband, Marvin, of Fayetteville, Ark., and Matthew Turley of Waynesboro; four great-grandchildren, Robert Barnett of Siloam Springs, Brian Brandon and Jonathon Brandon, both of Okinawa, Japan, and Sarah June Jordan of Siloam Springs.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 14, at Wasson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 15, at First Assembly of God Church in Siloam Springs with Pastor J.W. Walker, Pastor Gary Wheat and Pastor Tommy Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark.

BERNEIDE GERALDINE HOWERY
GROVE - Berneide "Bea" Geraldine Howery, 86, passed away June 19, 2001. The family is gathering in Grove for a memorial service Saturday, August 11, at 11 a.m., at the First Christian Church, 4th and Grand, Grove, where Bea and her husband attended for over 20 years after they retired to Oklahoma.
An invitation is extended to all Bea's friends to attend and share in a celebration of her life.
The couple were active workers for the Cookson Hills Christian Ministry. Memorial gifts may be made to that ministry at: Cookson Hills Christian Ministry, Route 3, Box 200, Highway 10 South, Kansas, OK 74347.
