JOANN LYNN
JAY, Okla. - JoAnn Lynn of Jay, Okla., died Sunday, December 2, 2001 at her home. She was 68.
Mrs. Lynn was born October 19, 1933 to Byron Mathews and Minnie Hopkins Wilson at Gravette, Ark. She opened the Boot Box in Grove among other businesses while her and her husband had a farm. She has lived in the area most of her life, while being in Jay for five years. JoAnn enjoyed fishing and her grandchildren. She attended the Mt. Hermon Church in Jay. JoAnn married Gerald D. Lynn October 5, 1951 in Medicine County, Ark. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Survivors include: her mother, Minnie Wilson of Jay; two daughters Judith Lynn of Jay and Suzanne Samons and her husband, Audie, of Western Grove, Ark.; six grandchildren, Anna Lynn, Christina Lynn, Byron and Houston Lynn, and Thomas and Lynn Samons; two sisters:, Judy Thornton of Jay, and Betty John and husband, Pinky, of Joplin, Mo., and one brother, Allen Mathews of Springfield, Mo.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 5, at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay. Rev. Larry Kingfisher to officiate. Interment will be at the Southwest City Cemetery in Southwest City, Mo. Family will receive friends at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

VIRNENA I. LEWIS MAGEE
MIAMI, Okla. - Virnena I. Lewis Magee, 81, of Miami, Okla. and Baxter Springs, Kan., died Sunday, June 10, 2001 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo. after an illness. Mrs. Magee was born September 8, 1919 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. to Sidney and Ethel Pearl (Faughn) Spradling. She has lived in this area since 1955. Mrs. Magee was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church in Baxter Springs, Kan. where she also taught Sunday School. She liked to write poetry and to go fishing. She married Walter Lewis December 17, 1937 in Miami, he preceded her in death December 27, 1979. She married William K. Magee February 26, 1994 in Baxter Springs, Kan. He survives of the home.
She is also survived by three sons and daughter-laws, Walter and Ina Lewis of Brunswick, Mo., Carl and Peggy Lewis of Baxter Springs, Kan., and Tommy and Helen Lewis of Baxter Springs, Kan.; two daughters and son-in-laws, Barbara and Elvin McLean of Baxter Springs, Kan., and Ethel (Riggs) and Dave Nicoll of Parsons, Kan.; four stepdaughters and son-in-laws, Carrol and Darrion Thompson of Miami, Okla., Elizabeth and Joe Smith of Pasadena, Texas, Rosemary and Jerry Boatwright of Wesley, Ark., and Jewel Kay and Junior Braden of Afton, Okla.; five brothers, Duward Spradling of Houston, Texas, Gene Spradling of Austin, Texas, Fred Spradling of Independence, Ore., Sidney of Hemit, Calif., and Charles Spradling of Sandy, Ore.; 17 grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. A daughter, Doris Ellen Lewis, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home in Commerce. Ed Snider will officiate. Burial will be in the Lowell Cemetery in Lowell, Kan. under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home Commerce. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce.

JAMES CLYDE MALLARD
JAY, Okla.- James Mallard, 16, died Thursday, August 2, 2001 at his home in Jay after a long illness. The son of Denny and Pamela (Edwards) Mallard, he was born on October 15, 1984 in Groton, Conn., moving to Jay nine years ago. He was a student in the Jay Public Schools. James was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Jay.
Survivors are: father, Denny Mallard, of Cheyenne, Okla.; mother, Pamela Mallard, of Jay; sister, Katy Edwards of Jay; brother, Adam Ray Mallard of Jay, and grandfather, Clyde James Mallard, of Jay.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, in the Assembly of God Church with Bill Goldner officiating. There will be a visitation for family and friends at the funeral home at 7 p.m. on Friday. The services are under the directions of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.

JOYCE F. (THOMPSON) MANDABACH
KANSAS, Okla. - Joyce F. (Thompson) Mandabach, 79, passed away Friday, November 23, 2001 in Springdale, Ark. Born February 23, 1922 in Mankato, Kan., to Edison and Ida Fulton. She was an electronics technician. She is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Linda Joy Thompson, four sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by: one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Tammy Thompson; two grandsons, Gary J. Thompson, II and wife, Latisha, Siloam Springs, Ark., and Lloyd W. Thompson, Kansas; and one great-grandson, Drake A. Thompson.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, at Moore's Southlawn Chapel with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. Family suggests contributions be made to charity of choice.

MARY CLAIRE MANN
WYANDOTTE, Okla. - Mary Claire Mann, 72, died Tuesday, September 18, 2001 at Grove General Hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 21, at Sycamore Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Don Bates officiating. Visitation was held until 7 p.m. Thursday at Ellis Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mann was born December 8, 1928 in Davenport, Iowa, to Herbert W. and Henrietta (Stevens) Fort. She married Vernon E. Mann on March 10, 1965. He preceded her in death in November, 1996. Mrs. Mann was a homemaker. She moved to Wyandotte in 1977, coming from Bettendorf, Iowa. She was a member of Sycamore Chapel United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed shopping and sewing.
Survivors are : two sons, Devin D. Mann of Wyandotte, and Randy Van Alstine of Carrolton, Texas; two daughters, Barbara Ward of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Nancy Walsh of Orono, Minn.; two brothers, Jim Fort and Bob Fort, both of Davenport, Iowa; one sister, Margaret Beale-Gray, of Bettendorf, Iowa; one stepson, Jerry Mann, of Jasper, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Judy Rouse, of Muskogee, Okla., and a very close friend, Joan Griffin. She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, and one sister.
Memorial contributions my be made to your favorite charity.
Services are entrusted to Ellis Family Funeral Home, Grove.

CRETIA LAVERN MAPLES
GROVE - Cretia Lavern Maples of Grove died Sunday, December 9, 2001 at the Grove General Hospital. She was 89.
Mrs. Maples was born October 19, 1912 to John "Bus" and Ida (Chastain) Brock near Hickory Grove. She was a lifetime resident. She was a loving mother and stayed home taking care of her family. She attended the old Hickory Grove Church when she was younger. She married Julian Mack Maples November 25, 1931 at Vinita; he preceded her in death in 1982. One daughter also preceded her in death, Sharon Chapman, a brother, Leonard Brock, and a sister, Mary Brock.
She will be greatly missed by: two sons, Tom Maples of Bernice, Okla., and Edward Lee Maples of Tulsa; two daughters, Bonnie L. Wilson of Pittsburg, Kan., and Rhonda V. Guffey of Kent, Wash.; two brothers, H.L. Brock of Afton, Okla., and Melvin Brock of Fairland, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; 28 grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Rev. Larry Jackson to officiate. Interment will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

RUDOLPH MARINELLIE
GROVE - Rudolph Marinellie, 87, of Grove, formerly of McDonald County, Mo., died on Saturday, August 18, 2001 at 6 p.m. at Grand Lake Villa in Grove after a long illness.
He was born on August 18, 1914, in Coalgate, Okla., to the late Andrew and Ida (Ford) Marinellie. He spent many years in Chicago, Ill., later moving to McDonald County, Mo. He also lived in Kirkland, Wash., and Topeka, Kan. He moved to Grove after his retirement 12 years ago. He served in the Army Medical Corp. during WWII. He was a farmer and worked for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kan., and Teledyne in Neosho, Mo. He then worked as a traveling repairman for a mobile home company in Noel, Mo.
Survivors include Leola Beaver of the home; two stepsons, Densel Dean Wilk, and Charles Eugene Wilk and wife, Kay, all of the state of Texas; two step-granddaughters and husbands, Christie and Alan Brown, and Dee and Jason Street; one step great-grandson, Drake Street, and many special friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 23, at 10 a.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. Reverend Derald Compton will officiate. The casket will be closed at all times. Burial will be in the New Bethel Cemetery in Anderson, Mo. Pallbearers will be stepsons, step-grandsons and friends.

HELEN L. MARTIN
BERNICE, Okla. - Helen L. Martin died Saturday at Freeman Hospital in Joplin after a lengthy illness. She was 75. She was born April 16, 1926 at Decorah, Iowa, to Leon and Merle Coleman Knight. She was a homemaker. She married John Martin on December 12, 1957. She had lived in this area for one year, coming from Denver, Colo.
She is survived by her husband, John; five sons and their wives, Richard D. and Alice Halverson, Larry K. and Ingrid Halverson, all of Arvada, Colo., Gary D. and Donette Halverson, Lakewood, Colo., Donald J. and Amber Martin, Spavinaw, Okla., and Rauk H. and Ann Marie Martin, Sacramento, Calif.; two daughters, Martha L. Audetter, Denver, Colo., and Janet Young of Monkey Island; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The body has been cremated. No services are planned.

JASMINE JAYLENE MARTIN
KANSAS, Okla. - Jasmine Jaylene Martin, 10 day-old infant daughter of Anthony Martin and Mary Jaylene Jenks Martin, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was born July 8 in Siloam Springs, Ark. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Peggy Jenks.
Survivors include: her mother, Jaylene Martin, of Kansas; her father, Anthony Martin, of West Siloam Springs, Okla.; one brother, Keith Martin, Kansas; one sister, Jennifer Martin, Kansas; paternal grandparents Bob and Marie Martin, Kansas; maternal grandfather Kenneth Jenks, Colcord; maternal great-grandfather Lewis Shelman, Okmulgee, and a number of aunts and uncles.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 20, at Kansas Cemetery, Kansas. Burial followed in Kansas Cemetery with services under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark.

JACK HOWARD MARVEL
GROVE - Jack Howard Marvel, born September 25, 1961 in Tulsa, Okla., passed away April 12, 2001 at the age of 39 in Bardwell, Texas of cardiac arrest.
Jack moved to Grove in July, 1970 with his family where he entered the third grade. He graduated from Grove High school 1980. He studied auto painting and small engine repair at Northeast Votech. He worked several years for Marvel Painting and Sandblasting and worked with Marvel Grand Lake Rentals before moving to Dallas, Texas in 1990, where he worked as an electrician assistant installing computer air conditioning systems in the Dallas area.
He is survived by his parents, Deryll and Carolyn Marvell, of Vinita, Okla.; sister and husband, Kathy and Dave Stanphil, of Fayettville, Ark.; sister and husband, Nancy and Robert Adair, of Tulsa, Okla.; grandmother, Maxine Geier of Tulsa; nieces and nephews, and friends, Joe, Tina, Jennifer and Amy Par of Bardwell, Texas.
Memorial service will be May 5, 1:30 p.m., at the First Church of God, Vinita, located at the corner of W. Tahlequah and N. Scraper. Rev. Eddie Wrinkle and Jack's Uncle Rev. Gerald Marvel of Vancouver, Wash. will officiate. Interment will be Fairview Cemetery, Vinita.

ROSE EDNA MASTERS
JAY, Okla. - Rose Edna Masters went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 17, 2001 at the Grand Lake Villa Nursing in Grove. She was 93. Mrs. Masters was born October 1, 1907 to William and Deliza Self Ervin of Boxley, Ark. She was united in marriage to Fay Dallas Masters January, 25, 1929 at Seligman, Mo. To this union were born three children. Her husband preceded her in death, April 28, 1982. She joined the Plain View Missionary Baptist Church when she was 16 years old. She taught Sunday School for 30 years. She cooked for the Taylor School for 11 years. She resided in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Michigan during her life.
She leaves to mourn her departure three children, Ray Masters and wife, Mavis, of Jay, Euvonne Medley and husband, Dick, of Gravette, Ark., and Reta Jeffries, of Jay; ten grandchildren, Kenneth Millspaugh, Phyliss Howard, Twilla Samples, Kerry Masters, Steve Masters, Russell Masters, Matlock Jeffries, Charla Medley, Rebecca Hankins and Wayne Medley. She had 23 great-grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Services will be 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay. Rev Steve Masters to officiate. Interment will be at the Maysville, Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel.

RECA HALL MATLOCK
PORTERVILLE, Calif. - Reca Hall Matlock of Porterville, Calif., passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2001 in Porterville.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 20, at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Peter Schalembier and Pastor Glenn Matlock will officiate.
Mrs. Matlock was a resident of the Porterville area for two years. She worked in the home health field for six years at Grove Hospital. She attended the First Assembly of God of Porterville.
Interment will be at Woodville Cemetery in Woodville, Calif.
Survivors include: husband, Hestle Paul Matlock, of the home; two sons, Bob and Johnny Hall, both of Bixby, Okla.; two step-sons, Glen Matlock of Pleasanton, Calif., and Darrell Matlock of Waldrin, Ark.; daughter, Delores Schieler, Porterville, Calif.; two step-daughters, Linda Wilson of Covina, Calif., and Eldonna Manis of Morena Valley, Calif.; brother, F. L. Pitts of Riverbank, Calif.; sister, Marie Smith of Riverbank, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Matlock was preceded in death by her first husband, Carmel Hall.

JAMES T. MAXSON
MIAMI, Okla. - James T. Maxson, 60, of rural Miami died Thursday, May 10, 2001 at his home after an illness. Mr. Maxson was born October 9, 1940 in Miami to George Ellis and Mary Jane (Sloan) Maxson, he has lived in Miami all his life. He worked in maintenance at Newell Coach in Commerce, Okla. and attended the Reorganized Latter Days Saints Church. Mr. Maxson married Pat. A. Drew Haskins in December 1985 in Miami.
He is survived by his wife, Pat A. Haskins, of the home; five sons, James Maxson, Jr. of Joplin, Mo., Michael Maxson of Independence, Kan., Wesley Haskins of Warwick, R.I., Albert Haskins of Mo., and Brian Haskins of Miami; seven daughters, Diana North of Cardin, Okla., Traci Haskins of Miami, Michelle Maxson of Joplin, Mo., Cindy Voigtsberger of Clarksville, Tenn., and Dawn Smith and Tina Cummings, and Gail Wiford, all of Miami; mother, Mary Jane Maxson Elgin of Claremore, Okla.; three brothers, John Maxson of Claremore, Okla., Bob Maxson of Miami, and George Maxson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three sisters, Dorothy Maxson of Claremore, Okla., Prudy Jones of Claremore, Okla., and Pattie Webb of Lubbock, Texas; five sons-in-law, three daughters-in-law, 32 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His father, George Ellis Maxson, a brother, Denver Joe Maxson, and two grandsons, Denver Maxson and Shane Smith, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 14, in the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home in Commerce. Pat Dale and Rufus Greninger officiated. Burial was in the Ottawa Indian Cemetery East of Miami under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce. Pallbearers were Claude Blunk, Mike Ellis, Larry Rush, Gary Mooney, Tommy Key and David Conrad. Honorary bearers were Kenny Key, Gary Hignite, Charles Shinn, Jeffrey White, Jim Gerring and John Luttrell.
