CHARLES W. STACY
MIAMI, Okla. - Charles W. Stacy, 66, of Miami, died September 19, 2001 at Integris Regional Medical Center in Miami after an illness.
Mr. Stacy was born February 13, 1935 in Afton to Clinton and Celia Ann (Van Winkle) Stacy. He married Betty Jo on April 8, 1963 in Miami. He was a member of the In Time Revival Church of Picher.
Mr. Stacy drove a concrete truck for Gains, Miami Ready Mix and Joplin Cement for over 20 years. He was also a minister of the Pentecostal faith. His mother and father preceded him in death. He served in the United States Army as an orderly to General Wheeler.
Survivors are: his wife, Betty, of the home; three sons, Daniel, Denis, and Terry Stacy, all of Miami; two sisters, Billie Sue Edwards of Miami, and Doris Oakly of Afton; seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 21, at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami. Susan Clogston will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Afton under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral of Miami.

CAROLE DEE STALLINGS
EUCHA, Okla. - Carole Dee Stallings of Eucha died Thursday, June 7, 2001 at her home after a sudden illness, She was 47. Mrs. Stallings was born July 26, 1953 to Junior Dee and Martha Bernice Thurman Andoe at Tulsa, Okla. She has lived in the area for 16 years, moving from Tulsa. She was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her mother, M. Bernice Andoe, of Eucha, Okla.; James E. Kirby, who was like a father to her; one son, Nicholas Wayne Stallings, of Coweta, Okla.; one daughter, Angela Nicole Stallings, of the home; one brother, Billy Joseph Andoe, of Tulsa, Okla.; a second brother, Jimmy Dale Kirby, of Collinsville, Okla., and two uncles, Cary R. Thurman, and Billy C. Thurman.
Graveside services were 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 11, at the Mose Ridge Cemetery. Rev. John Crowley officiated. Services under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, Okla.

RUBY M. STANTON
FAIRLAND, Okla. - Ruby M. Stanton died Wednesday at Integris Baptist Regional health Center after a length illness. She was 69. She was born February 4, 1932 at Fairland to Wallace and Lucy Harbough Tipton. She married Lloyd "Jack" Stanton on September 23, 1955, at Antioch, Calif. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1985. She had lived in Fairland for two years, coming from Grants Pass, Ore.
Survivors include: a son, Jim; two brothers, Kenneth Tipton, Sand Springs, Okla., and Wallace Tipton, Jr., Hazelgreen, Ala.; two sisters, Billie Ware, Lake City, Fla., and Ruth Crosby, Miami, Okla.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, two sisters, and three brothers.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hickory Grove Cemetery with Rev. Danny Hughes officiating. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Friday at Adcock Funeral Home of Fairland. Arrangements provided by Adcock Funeral Home.

LUCY M. STARK
GROVE - Lucy M. Stark, 89, died Monday, May 28, 2001 at Grand Lake Villa. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at Carr Baptist Church with Ed McFall officiating. Burial will follow in Olympus Cemetery.
Lucy M. Stark was born on September 9, 1911 in Plato, Mo. to James and Sally Robinson Cook. She married Joe Stark on July 14, 1950 in Beatrice, Neb. Mrs. Stark was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Joe, of Grove; a son, Kenneth Steele, Las Vegas Nev.; a daughter, Betty Russell, Grove; a brother, Leland Cook, Indiana; a sister, Icy Quesenberry, Plato, Mo.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services are entrusted to Ellis Family Funeral Home, 107 S. Broadway, Grove.

REV. PEARL ELLEN STEPHENS
COMMERCE, Okla. - Rev. Pearl Ellen Stephens, 74, of Commerce, Okla., died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami after an illness.
Rev. Stephens was born January 25, 1927 in Miami to Clarence and Florence (Wagner) Timmons. She has lived in Ottawa County most of her life. She was the retired pastor of the Wayside Assembly of God southeast of Miami. She had also been the pastor at churches in Chiloquin and Fossel, Ore., Bomberg and Tracy, Calif., and Long Assembly and Wayside Assembly in Okla. Together with Rev. Viola Perdue, she has evangelized over several states for 45 years.
She married Orval E. Stephens June 24, 1961 in Lyons, Ore., at Santiam Chapel. He survives of the home.
Survivors are: sons and daughter-in-laws, Larry and Beverly Stephens of Miami, and Kevin and Sharon Stephens of Miami; two sisters, Hazel Beebe and Merle Blair, both of Miami; one brother, Tommy Timmons, also of Miami; six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Three brothers, Cecil, Otto, and Virgil Timmons, a sister, Esther Hoffman, and a grandson, Eric Stephens, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, in the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce. Rev. Don Williams and Rev. Danny Burleson will officiate. Burial will be in the Glen Abbey Memorials Gardens east of Miami under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 Thursday evening at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Hoffman, Tony Scribner, Leonard Dorland, Tommy Stewart, Mark Millhollin, and Marvin Pendergraft.

OPAL MAE STOGSDILL
MIAMI, Okla. - Opal Mae Stogsdill, 82, of Miami, Okla., died Wednesday, September 19, 2001 at the NEO Health Care Center after an illness.
Mrs. Stogsdill was born January 11, 1919 in Seneca, Mo., to Orin and Maggie (Blevins) Woolworth. She has lived in the Miami area most of her life.
Mrs. Stogsdill was a cook at Doc's BBQ for many years, and did housework all around Miami for several families. She attended the First Assembly of God in Miami.
Mrs. Stogsdill married Sherman Joe Stogsdill March 28, 1936 at Jean Dials Home in Miami, he preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Margaret Ann Stogsdill, and nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors are: one son, Bobbie Stogsdill, of Miami; two daughters, Treva Steck of Sacramento, Calif., and Becky Meisenburg, of Miami, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 22, in the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home in Miami. Bro. Gerald Baser will officiate. Burial will be in the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 Friday evening at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.

AMBER DAWN STOUT
BLACKWELL, Okla. - Amber Dawn Stout, 17, of Blackwell, formerly of Miami, died Friday, April 20, in Blackwell for injuries in an auto accident.
Amber was born December 12, 1983 in Blackwell to Elvie and Labrenda Stout. She was a junior at Blackwell High School. Amber attended Mannford Public Schools from 1989 to 1999, she attended Miami High School her sophomore year before returning to Blackwell. She worked for Sonic Drive In in both Miami and Blackwell. She was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her father, Elvie Stout, and a grandfather, Glen Curtis.
She is survived by her mother, LaBrenda Stout, of the home; three brothers, Shane Stout of the home, Clint Freeman of Blackwell, and Nathon Stout of Moore, Okla.; three sisters, Tiffany Guilford of Miami, Okla., Stephanie Proctor of Mannford, Okla., and Raini Miller of Norman, Okla., and a grandmother, Luella McElroy of Ponca City, Okla.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, at the Free Will Baptist Church in Blackwell. Interment will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery under the direction of Guilford-Thomas Funeral of Miami and Roberts and Son Funeral of Blackwell. Amber will lie in state at the Roberts and Son Funeral Home from Tuesday until services.

IONE STOVERN
GROVE - Ione Stovern, age 85, who resided at Kennedy Homeplace in Grove, passed away Saturday at 7:29 a.m., February 3, 2001 at Grove General Hospital, where she had been a patient two days. Born October 9, 1915 in Cresbard, SD, she was the daughter of Roy and Edna Diestler Slater and moved to Joplin from Aberdeen, SD in 1946. She and her husband, Goodie, co-owned and operated three Stovern IGA Grocery Stores in Joplin for 20 years and later owned the Mity Mite Fishing Lure Co. until moving to Grand Lake. Previously, she was a beauty operator. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Grove and formerly volunteered at Grove General Hospital. She was an avid bridge player. On November 29, 1940 she married Gudmund (Goodie) Stovern in Aberdeen. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1985. A son, Barry L. Stovern, also preceded her in death on October 30, 1985.
She is survived by two daughters, Twila Stovern of Joplin, Penny Hansen of Lenexa, Kansas; her sister, Violet Bierman of Aberdeen; her brother, Wilbur Slater of Aberdeen; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kennedy Homeplace, 1516 Har-Ber Road, Grove, OK 74344. Cremation under supervision of Parker Mortuary.

JOSEPH LOUIS STRAUB
GROVE - Joseph Louis Straub, 83, died Sunday, November 18, 2001 in the Baptist Regional Hospital in Miami, Okla. The son of Anton & Anna Straub, he was born on April 21, 1918 in St. Paul, Minn. He was a photographer working for himself in Canada and New Jersey. He later worked in a machine shop in New Jersey and drove a security truck delivering to drug stores and hospitals. Joseph married Alva Rose Bernard on April 22, 1937 in Montreal, Canada.
Survivors include: his wife, Alva; four children, Kelvin Straub, Brian Straub, Starr Craig and Larry Straub; two brothers Frank and Andy Straub; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
No services are planned. Arrangements are under the directions of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

WAYNE STRICKLAND
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Wayne Strickland, 80, died September 9, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nev. He was born April 16, 1921 in Oswego, Kan., to Isaac Wm. and Florence Leona (Cunningham) Strickland. He attended the rural Dickerman school. He was the co-owner of Strickland Bros. - AGCO Farm Equipment for over 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II and, while stationed in Guyhirn, England for three years, he met and married Betty Brown on June 17, 1944. She survives of the home. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Keith Reeves Post #3 in Columbus, Kan., and the VFW Post # 3399 of Oswego, Kan., where he was a past commander.
Survivors are: one son, Carl, and wife, Cathy, of Oswego, Kan.; two daughters, Andra and husband, Guy Gamba, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Wanda Strickland, of Tulsa.; four grandsons; two great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; his mother-in-law, May Warwick, of Oswego, Kan.; one brother, Albert, of Oswego; and six sisters, Juanita Fischer and Esther Kirkpatrick of Oswego, Elsie Phillips of Butler, Mo., Betty Martinie of Altamont, June Horn of Topeka, Kan., and Karen Ball, of Colwich, Kan. Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, and one grandson.
Graveside services will be Thursday, September 20, at 11 a.m. at the Oswego Cemetery with Rev. Paul Wiand officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday at the Murdock Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6- 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3399 of Oswego with donations to be sent to the Murdock Funeral Home or the American Heart Foundation.
Murdock Funeral Home of Oswego is charge of arrangements.

DOROTHY M. SWAIM
COLCORD, Okla. - Dorothy M. Swaim, 81-year-old resident of Colcord, Okla., died Saturday, December 15, 2001 at the Quail Ridge Living Center in West Siloam Springs, Okla. Born April 11, 1920 in Phippsburg, Maine, she was the daughter of Ralph Whitten and Bernice Mae Pushard Whitten. She was a homemaker and for many years a volunteer foster grandparent at the Colcord Elementary School. She was affiliated with the Row Church of God in Row, Okla. She was married to Henry Bedford Swaim on March 9, 1940.
Survivors include: one daughter, Dorothy Foulk, of Encinitas, Calif.; four sons, Frank Swaim of Colcord, Timothy Swaim of San Marcos, Calif., Gary W. Swaim of Colcord, and Kenneth Swaim of Colcord; one brother, Bill Whitten of Idaho; three sisters, Marian Thorton of Victorville, Calif., Pat Swaim of San Marcos, Calif., and Josephine David of Escondido, Calif., and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Bedford Swaim, a daughter, Sue Lynn Swaim, and four brothers, Donald, Leslie, Richard, and Stan Whitten.
A visitation will be held from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Ark. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, at Row Cemetery in Row, Okla., with Brother Edward Billups officiating. Services are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark.

HARRIET T. SWIERCZ
MIAMI, Okla. - Harriet T. Swiercz, of Miami, died at the Integris Baptist Regional Health Center at 7 a.m., Monday, July 16, 2001 after an illness. She was 80.
Mrs. Swiercz was born September 7, 1920 to William and Margaret (Majewski) Beran at Chicago, Ill., where she met and married her husband, John, on July 16, 1938. She loved doing crafts, helping people, and spending time with her family. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hudson Creek Homemaker Club.
Survivors include her husband, John Swiercz, of the home; two daughters, Virginia and her husband, T.J. Mullin, Delta, Colo., and Gloria Malinski, Grove; a son, John and his wife, Cindy Swiercz, Spring, Texas.
Her mother, father. and four brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral Mass for Mrs. Swiercz will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 19, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Father Gregg Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairland Cemetery under the direction of the Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home of Miami.
Pallbearers will be T.J. Mullin, John Swiercz, Jr., Scott Mullin, Tim Mullin, Larry Malinski, and Burt Bresse.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, July 18, from 7 until 8 p.m.
