MICHAEL JOE "SKIPPER" TRASK
BERNICE, Okla. - Michael Joe "Skipper" Trask, of Bernice, Okla., died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, in rural Delaware County. He was 44 years of age. Skipper was born July 19, 1956 in Miami, Okla. to Claude (Sr.) and Janice (Nichols) Trask. He had lived in Bernice for the past 14 years, moving from Miami. He was a correction officer with the Oklahoma State Department of Corrections at Vinita, Okla. for the past seven years. He was a 1974 graduate of Miami High School.
He is survived by two sons, Tyler and Nick; one daughter, Andrea; his father, Claude Trask, Sr., Fairland, Okla.; one stepdaughter, Delanie Baird, Afton, Okla.; two brothers, Claude "Slugger" Trask, Bernice, Okla., and Zach Trask, Fairland, Okla., and one sister, Lisa Nelson, rural Afton.
Funeral services for Michael "Skipper" Trask were Monday, May 14, at 12:00 noon at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami. The Oklahoma Department of Corrections Honor Guard has posted an Honor Guard. Donations are suggested to the Trask Trust Fund in care of City National Bank at the Wal-Mart Super Center in lieu of flowers. Arrangements were under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, Okla.

DOROTHY GRETCHEN TREBBE
GROVE - Dorothy Gretchen Trebbe of Grove passed away Sunday, April 8, 2001 at the Grove Nursing Center after a short illness. She was 85. Dorothy was born May 19, 1915 to Joseph and Grace Perry Russell at Oaks, Okla. She entered elementary school at Tuskahoma, Okla. and graduated from Haskell Indian School in Lawrence, Kan. June 4, 1934. She graduated nursing school May 26, 1937 at Halstead, Kan. She worked at Halstead, Ellinwood and Great Bend, Kan. She returned to Grove and worked until retiring in 1988. She was active in the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, being a member for 55 years. She also was a member of the Ladies Eagles Post #646 of Great Bend, Kan. She joined the First Christian Church in Grove April 28, 1929. Dorothy married Francis H. (Tate) Trebbe August, 1, 1942. He preceded her in death April 10, 1970.
She is survived by one sister, Cleo Hulsey, of Grove; nephew Bob Hulsey and wife, Alberta, of Grove, and niece, Beverly Harding and husband, Leroy, of Grove.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the Buzzard Cemetery in Grove. Dr. Wayne Shaw to officiate. Family and friends may view Dorothy at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

MARY ANN PASCHER TRUSLEY
HARRAH, Okla. - Mary Ann Pascher Trusley, 66, of Harrah, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2001 at Oklahoma City to be with her maker. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 22, at Kelley Memorial Chapel. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Black's, Shipman & Merritt Funeral Home.
Casket bearers were Tony Voss, Bubby Anderson, Mike Glass, Shannon Porter, Jerry "Spunky" Smith, and Toney Pollard. Honorary bearers were Cory Clanin and Daniel Smith.
Mrs. Pascher was born August 16, 1935, at Hanna, the daughter of Oliver and Pearl (Start) Trusley. She was raised in the Eufaula area and attended the Eufaula High School. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
Survivors are: four daughters, Judy and Mike Loveless of Newalla, Okla., Becky and L.V. Smith of Morris, Okla., Brenda and Jim Clanin of Grove, and Ronda and Mike Glass of Oklahoma City; four brothers, James Trusley of Dallas, Oliver and Gloria Trusley of Longtown, Sonny and Mary Ann Trusley of Levittown, N.Y., and Ron Trusley of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Billy Martin of Eufaula, Shirley Dearing of Killeen, Texas, and Evelyn Alexander of Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She had eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two grand sons-in-law and one granddaughter-in-law.
She was preceded in death by one son, Franky Joe Porter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mary Pascher Fund, P.O. Box 191, Morris, OK 74445, c/o Becky Smith.

CHERIE TAYLOR TURNBOW
GROVE - Cherie Taylor Turnbow, age 44, of Grove, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2001 in her home. Mrs. Turnbow, the daughter of James Edwin and Patricia Ann (Cleveland) Van Gaasbeck, was born in Bethesda, Md. on December 28, 1956.
Funeral services for Mrs. Turnbow were conducted at 2:00 p.m. May 11 in the Memorial Chapel of Garner's Jim Green Funeral Home with Reverend L. F. Chronister officiating. Interment followed in the Ross-Mayes Cemetery, Salina, with family and friends serving as casket bearers. Funeral service arrangements were under the care of Garner's Jim Green Funeral Home, Pryor.
Cherie moved as a young girl to California where she graduated from National City, Calif. public schools. She obtained her Associate of Arts Degree from Southwestern Junior College, San Diego, Calif. On November 22, 1990, Cherie married Howard Ronald Turnbow in Sarks, Nev. She was a very talented lady who enjoyed painting, crocheting, knitting, vegetable gardening, raising various flowers, country and western plus the 70's music, television and reading. Cherie was a loving person whose priority was her husband and their home. As a homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, baking pies and cakes, and taking care of her husband. The couple moved to Grove in 1997 following her husband's retirement.
Cherie is survived by her husband, Ron, of the home; daughter, Stacy Ann Owen, San Diego, Calif.; son, Justin Owen, Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Karen of California and Vickie of Washington; a brother, Wayne, of California, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.

FAYE TURNER
GROVE - Faye Turner, 94, formerly of Miami, Okla., died Friday, November 9, 2001 at the Grove Nursing Center after an illness. Mrs. Turner was born June 24, 1907 in Claremore to Russell and Lula (Davis) Gerard. She has lived in the Miami area all of her life. She was a cook at the Miami Nursing Home for many years and attended the North Miami Baptist Church. Mrs. Turner married Rev. Austin (Velt) Turner on July 21, 1923 in Miami. He preceded her in death on January 15, 1973. A son, Donald, also preceded her.
Survivors include: a foster daughter, Betty Summers, Grove; brother, Floyd Summers, LaPine, Ore.; sister, Hazel Wilson, Ore.; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, at the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami. Rev. Clyde Stilley officiated under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.

WILLIAM TURTLE
CHEWEY, Okla. - Funeral services for William Turtle, 86, of Chewey will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the Illinois River Baptist Church in Chewey with Pastors Wayne Forrest and John Goodrich, officiating. Burial will follow in the Chewey Cemetery under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah. Pallbearers will be Wayne Turtle, John Turtle, James Ray Turtle, Jason Turtle, Phillip Turtle and Joel Sands. Honorary Pallbearers will be Adam Turtle and Billy Dale Hildebrand.
William was born on June 13, 1914 to Nellie (Manning) and Adam Turtle in Chewey and he attended school there. William entered in the United States Army on March 25, 1941 and was Honorably Discharged on October 20, 1945. He attended CC Camp at Bull Hollow and earned the EAME Service Ribbon and one Silver Service Star, the Good Conduct Medal, and the American Defense Service Ribbon. William married Della Mae Kelley and their marriage was blessed with seven children. He worked as a truck driver in Drumright, Okla. and worked as a cook at Allens Canning Factory in Westville for over 25 years. William enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member and enjoyed attending the Illinois River Baptist Church near Watts.
William passed away on April 9 at W.W. Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah, Okla. William as preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Della, an infant sister, and an infant granddaughter Robin.
William is survived by his sons, Lester Turtle and wife, Pat, of Watts, Paul Wayne Turtle and wife, Nancy, of Proctor, O.J. Turtle and wife, Lucinda, of Oaks, Bill Turtle, T.J. Turtle and wife, Renee, and Dean Turtle, all of Chewey; a daughter, Phyllis Turtle of Watts; one brother, Tony Turtle of Chewey; 13 grandchildren; seven great grand-children, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

JAMES O. TUTTLE, JR.
GROVE - James O. Tuttle, Jr. of Grove died early Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at the St. John's Hospital in Joplin, Mo. after a long illness. He was 76. Mr. Tuttle was born August 7, 1924 to James Oliver and Rose Pratt Tuttle at Sioux Falls, S.D. He served in the United State Air Force during WWII. Jim graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Tulsa in 1953. He worked as Comp-Controller at the Air Base in Muskogee and the Veterans Hospital until starting his own Certified Public Accounting practice in Muskogee. In 1970 he opened an office in Grove, which was sold in 1990 to Clara and Dean Mills. He married Flora Jean Snodgrass April 29, 1977 at Grove. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grove and served on the finance committee. He was a past member of the Oklahoma Society of CPA's and the N.E. Chapter Society.
He is survived by his wife, Flora Tuttle, of Grove; three sons, Jim Tuttle and wife, Naomi, of Chandler, Okla., Kelly Tuttle and wife, Michelle, of Tulsa, and Kelly Mentzer of Albuquerque, N.M.; two daughters, Susan Blair of Houston, Texas, and Shelly Cannon and husband, Richard, of Grove; one brother, Bill Hopkins of Yuma, Ariz.; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 5, at the First United Methodist Church in Grove. Rev. Randy Hamill and Rev. Dick Weaver to officiate. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, Okla. The V.F.W. #474 will conduct military rites. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church building fund.

JOSEPH EDWARD VANDEVIER
GROVE - Joseph Edward Vandevier, 76, passed away Tuesday, September 18, at the Tulsa Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at Grove First Baptist Church at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 21. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler, Okla. Dr. Robin Cowin to officiate.
Born on October 10, 1924 in Chandler, Okla., he had resided in the Grove area since 1973 when he established and operated Van's Printing. Before his retirement from business in the mid 1980's, Mr. Vandevier served as president of the Grove Chamber of Commerce for two terms and was chairman of Grove's Planning and Zoning Commission. An avid golfer, he worked at the Cherokee Grove Golf Course following his retirement.
A 1942 graduate of Chandler High School, Mr. Vandevier served as Quartermaster First Class aboard the Escort Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Altamaha in the western Pacific during World War II. Following the war, his Navy training in celestial, radio, and Loran navigation qualified him as a surveyor and field manager for several oil exploration companies. During the late 1940's while working in oil exploration, Mr. Vandevier and his family lived in Wyoming, New Mexico, Colorado, North Dakota, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Following training in graphic arts and printing at Oklahoma State Technical School in Okmulgee, Okla., Mr. Vandevier worked for the Chandler News Publicist and the Lincoln County Republican, both in Chandler. From 1957 through 1960, he was the publisher and editor of the Dewey Herald in Dewey, Okla.
During the 1960's and 1970's, Mr. Vandevier operated commercial printing businesses in Joplin, Mo., Claremore, Okla., Grove, and Chandler. He was a member of Grove's First Baptist Church and had served as a deacon at Trinity Baptist Church in Claremore, and Connor Avenue Baptist Church in Joplin, Mo.
In addition to golf, Mr. Vandevier enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and rebuilding cars. He especially enjoyed camping with his family in the San Juan Mountains in south central Colorado.
Mr. Vandevier is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia DeSilver Vandevier, of Grove; Joe and Carolyne Vandevier, son and daughter-in-law, of Claremore; Kay and Joe Henry, daughter and son-in-law of Claremore; Edith Hammons of Tulsa; Judith and Robert Carter, daughter and son-in-law, of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Barry Vandevier of Pleasanton, Calif., Douglas Henry of Waco, Texas, Robin Vandevier of Tulsa, Jenifer Henry of New York, Lori Youderian of Ardmore, Okla., Serette Smith of Dallas, Texas, and Colin Carter of San Diego, Calif.; and one great granddaughter, Kiley Vandevier of Pleasanton, Calif.

JAMES MARION VAUGHN
GROVE - James Marion Vaughn, 56, died Wednesday after a long illness. He was born on Sept. 24, 1945 in Siloam Springs, Ark., to Watson Kathleen Vaughn. He married Franna Schrom on June 21, 1965 in Spavinaw, Okla. She survives.
He lived in Grove for the past 20 years and worked at Simmons Industries for 35 years. He was an avid sportsman who loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his father and mother, Watson and Kathleen Vaughn, of Goodman, Mo.; three brothers, David Vaughn of Anderson, Mo., Cedilla Vaughn of Grove, and Sam Vaughn of Anderson, Mo.; four sisters, Judy Fry and husband, Bill, of Southwest City, Mo., Caroline Gibbons and husband, Joe, of Decatur, Ark., Ruth Farriester and husband, Carl, of Centeron, Ark., and Shirley Watson of Longview, Mo.; four children, Jesse and Sandy Vaughn of Jay, Okla., April and Raymond Cook of Grove, Frank Vaughn of Grove, and Brandi Vaughn of the home; eight grandchildren, Trenton Vaughn, Colten Vaughn, Kayla Gaines, Jessica Greer, Delaney Vaughn, Hunter Vaughn, Lorren Cook and Spencer Cook.
Services were at Mt. Hermon Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Burial was at Polson Cemetery west of Southwest City, Mo.
Arrangements were under the direction of Turner Funeral Chapel, Grove.

MYRTLE WELCH VAUSE
COLCORD, Okla. - Myrtle Welch Vause, 97-year-old resident of Colcord, died Wednesday, December 19, 2001, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Siloam Springs, Ark. Born March 9, 1904, in Maysville, Ark., she was the daughter of Frank Alvin Welch and Cora Bill (Gadberry) Welch. Mrs. Vause had been a resident of the Colcord area for most of her life. She was a schoolteacher and a member of Countryside Bible Church in Colcord.
Survivors include nine grandchildren, Joe Ethridge and Reese Ethridge, both of Jay, Oklahoma; Dani Sue Wofford of Colcord; Julie Williams of Gentry, Ark.; Wesley Ethridge, Randy Ethridge, Ricky Ethridge, Elizabeth Kaye Kinnamon and Marcus Vause, all of Tulsa; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Edward "Dick" Welch of Colcord.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2001, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Edward Billups officiating. Burial will follow in Bloomfield Cemetery, near Gentry, Ark. Services are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark.

MYRTLE VERNER
VINITA, Okla. - Myrtle Verner, 83-year-old longtime Vinita resident, passed away early Saturday morning, April 7, 2001 at her residence. Mrs. Verner was born on February 25, 1918 in Beloit, Kan., to Emmet and Ida Mae (Moss) Wagner. Myrtle was a charter member of the Genealogical Society in Vinita, Woman's Aglow, Gold Star Mothers, Compassion Missionaries for supporting children, and various Christian charities. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vinita. Mrs. Verner was preceded in death by both of her parents, husbands Earl P. Verner and Lewis R. Hall, a son, Gary Hall, and brother, Paul E. Wagner.
She is survived by her children, Diane Thrash and husband, Rick, of Mission, Texas, Nancy Elaine Hall of Vinita, Mark Hall and wife, Terry, of Newman, Ga., and Michael Hall and wife, Laura, of Sharpsburg, Ga.; sister, Deloris L. Henderson and husband, T.D., of Nashville, Tenn.; sister-in-law Rose Wagner of Miami, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, extended family and close friends.
Friends and relatives are making donations to Samaritan's Purse, 801 Bamboo Road, Boone, NC 28607 in memory of Myrtle.
Funeral services were held on April 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the Luginbuel Funeral Chapel with Rev. George Vaughn and Bob McSpadden officiating. Burial followed on the family plot at Fairview Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Service of Vinita.

WAYNE VOWELL
BILOXI, Miss. - Wayne Vowell, age 73, was called home April 8, 2001 after a long battle with lung cancer. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all family and friends.
Mrs. Vowell was born in Zama, Miss. September 29, 1927. He graduated in 1945 as Valedictorian from Walnut High School. He continued his education at the University of Alabama and graduated in 1957 with a Business of Arts Degree in Radio Broadcasting. He was elected to the Who's Who of Mississippi in 1990. He served in the United States Army as a medic during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Vowell moved to Biloxi with his new bride, Ann, in 1960 to continue his broadcasting career. He began working for WVMI and was General Manager of WVMI/WQID when they were the top two radio stations on the coast. He was employed with these radio stations for 34 years. He retired in 1994. Wayne Vowell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Biloxi, a 20-year member of the Rotary Club, and a member/board member of the Mississippi Broadcasters' Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, H.C. and Estelle Vowell, a sister, Zulla Houston, and two brothers, Doyle Vowell and Don Vowell.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ann Vowell, of Biloxi; three brothers, Vernon Vowell of Batesville, Miss., Dallas Vowell of Denver, Colo., and Joe Vowell of Grove; three daughters, Katrina Vowell of D'Iberville, Kimberly Martino of Biloxi and her fiancé, John Hann, and Kara Vesa and husband, Alex Vesa, of Biloxi, and two grandsons, Hunter Fairchild and Austin Martino, both of Biloxi.
The funeral service was Thursday, April 12, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial was in Southern Memorial Park.

CLYDE DALE WADLEY
SALLISAW, Okla. - Clyde Dale Wadley, 72-year-old Sallisaw resident, passsed away Wednesday, May 3, 2001 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was born April 5, 1929 in Tulsa County to William Clyde and Mary M. (Taylor) Wadley. He was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator. Clyde was united in marriage to Joyce (Sullins) on September 11, 1970 at Hutcinson, Kan.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of the home; daughter, Dalene Shaw of Atlanta, Ga.; step-daughter, Sharon Parkhurst of Little Rock, Ark.; step-sons, Steven Connell of Barling, Ark., and Mark Connell of Sallisaw, Okla; sisters, LaVaughna Wadley Orman of Tulsa, Okla., and Ramona Wadley Collins of Sperry, Okla.; brother, Delvin Earnest Wadley of Cleora, Okla.; sister-in-law, Juanita Wadley of Vinita, Okla.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Clyde Dale Wadley, Jr., and brother, Billy Joe Wadley.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at Sixkiller Cemetery in Afton. Rev. George Vaughn will officiate. Interment will be in Sixkiller cemetery. Services are under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home.
