MRS. ALTA (JACKIE) WILSON
GROVE - Alta (Jackie) Wilson, 89, died June 9, 2001 in the Grove Nursing Center after an extended illness. Born June 5, 1912 in Fairland, Okla. to Joel and Susan Jones, she lived in Tulsa for 50 years, where she retired from Zebco. She moved to Grove, two years ago due to ill health. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family. She was a member of the Cherokee Nation. Her great-grandfather died on the Trail of Tears and her grandfather worked as an interpreter between the Indians and the government.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Schmid of Grove, Patty Davis Grogg of Disney, Okla., and Dawn Casillas of Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Lucille Ballenger of Miami, Okla.; four grandchildren, Buzzy Roberts and wife, Robin, of Grove, Jackie Cupps and husband, James, of Tulsa, Okla., Chris Casillas and wife, Hillary, of Colchester, Vt., and Dawanna Davis Skytt of Solvang, Calif.; 12 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, four brothers and two grandchildren; Wayne Roberts and Janice Roberts Montano.
Services will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Regency Park Church of the Nazarene with committal at 3:30 p.m. in the Hickory Grove Cemetery near Grove. Her grandson, D.M. "Buzz" Roberts, will officiate. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Ninde Funeral Directors, Woodland Chapel, 5757 S. Memorial, Tulsa, OK.

IDA FRANCIS WILSON
JAY, Okla. - Ida Frances Wilson, 83, passed away July 20, 2001 in Tulsa. Ida was born October 9, 1917 in Eucha to George Wilhelm and Peggy Fisher Wilson.
She attended the Fairview School between Eucha and Kenwood. She worked for the Vincent Family in Claremore, and in the late 30's moved to Tulsa and began working for Douglas Aircraft. After World War II, she worked for Moss Seat Cover as a seamstress.
Ida was a very independent lady, although she could not speak. She was a devoted Christian and she loved and enjoyed her family.
She is survived by her brother, David Wilson of Pueblo, Colo.; one nephew, James Cochran of Salina; two nieces, Josephine McDaniel of Overland Park, Kan., and Janice Sutton of the Woodlands, Houston, Texas, and several great nieces and nephews.
Graveside service are Tuesday, July 24, 10 a.m., at Duffield Cemetery in Jay.
Services are under the direction of the Turner Funeral Chapel, Jay.

IVA PAULINE WILSON
DRUMWRIGHT, Okla. - Iva Pauline Wilson, 83-year-old Drumwright resident, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at the Drumwright Nursing Home. Pauline was born March 10, 1918 in Shamrock, Okla. to William Edward and Sarah Mary (Ives) Colter. She lived in Shamrock until age three when she and her family moved to Mayes County, in the Oak Grove Community, west of Adair. She married Oral William Wilson on August 12, 1935 in May County, 65 years ago. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God on 4th Street in Vinita until moving to Drumright.
She is survived by her husband, Oral Wilson, of Drumright; a son and daughter-in-law, Cletus and Arlene Wilson, of Cushing; five daughters and sons-in-law, Lena Ruth and Bill James of Elk City, Lela Mae Wilson of Okla. City, Earlene and Vernon Mason and Roberta Wilson, all of Vinita, and Leveta and J.B. James of McComb, Okla.; 29 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren, and several other relatives. Her parents, a brother, a twin sister, a grandchild and three great-grandchildren preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 28, at 2:30 p.m. in the Old Adair Cemetery west of Adair. Rev. Ona Faye Morgan will officiate. The family will receive and family from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 27, at Burckhalter Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Chapel of Vinita.

LEONA MARIE WILSON
COMMERCE, Okla. - Leona Marie Wilson, 54, of Commerce, died Thursday, July 12, 2001 at her home after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Wilson was born November 11, 1946 in Delaware County to Orvle and Francis Linn. She married Jim Wilson on November 11, 1977 in Miami. She worked as a nurse in home health care with D.H.S. and was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Miami. Mrs. Wilson had lived in the Commerce area for 15 years after moving from Columbus, Kan. She enjoyed being a member of the Rebels Car Club. Mrs. Wilson is preceded in death by her father.
Survivors are: mother, Francis Linn, of Colcord, Okla.; husband, Jim Wilson, of the home; three step-daughters, Tami Higgs, of Wills Point, Texas, Debi Scott, Forney, Texas, and Teri Cobbs, Miami; three sisters, Lillian Leach, Grove, Flora Morrison, Tulsa, and Phyllis Phelan, Siloam Springs, Ark.; six step-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; nine nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and relatives.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Commerce, officiated by Dewey Johnston. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the Colcord Cemetery under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home of Commerce.
Casketbearers: Dan Leach, Kevin Williams, Bob Tompkins, Freddy Cobbs, Rick Higgs, and David Leach.
Honorary Casketbearers: Gary Leach and Rick Rider.

CLARENCE E. WISEMAN
FAIRLAND, Okla. - Clarence E. Wiseman, rural Fairland, died at Family Care Center in Fairland Wednesday evening after a lengthy illness. He was 79. He was born at Petersburg, Ill., on August 18, 1922 to Clarence and Faye Wiseman. He worked as an auto mechanic and then became a machinist, working for Sperry-Vickers in Joplin until retirement. He was a veteran, having served in the U,S, Army. He married Bertilla Urban on September 5, 1942. He later married Mary J. Smith on February 14, 1981 at Miami. He moved to Fairland in 1963, coming from Wichita, Kan. He was a former member of the Miami VFW and the Grove Moose Lodge.
He is survived by: his wife, Mary, of the home; three daughters, Barbara Carpenter and Patty Deck, both of Wichita, Kan., and Charlotte Estes of Grand Prairie, Texas; two step-daughters, Janice Wisely of Catoosa, Okla., and Carol Matukewicz, of Findley, Ohio; two half-brothers, Edwin Wiseman of Cushing and Wallace Wiseman of Denver, Colo.; two half-sisters, Clarice Dixon, of Tulsa, and Marion Dies of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
A visitation / memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 8, at Adcock Funeral Home Chapel in Fairland. Arrangements provided by Adcock Funeral Home in Fairland.

EMILY MARIE WOFFORD
JAY, Okla. - Emily Marie Wofford, 85, died November 22, 2001 at Monroe Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Wofford was born on February 21, 1916 in Rudy, Ark., to Andy and Nancy (Douglas) Ball. She was married to Dan Wofford, Sr. and was a homemaker. She has lived in the Jay area since 1946, coming from Rudy. Mrs. Wofford received a special award from the State of Oklahoma in 1999 for making 850 baby quilts for the Women & Infant Care. She served on the Fair Board and Election Board and enjoyed writing poetry.
Survivors include: one son, Ben Wofford, and one daughter, Martha Gann, both of Jay; three brothers, Clayton Ball, Redding, Calif., Andy Ball, Ark., and Bill Ball of VanBuren, Ark.; one sister, Norma Dyer, of Little Rock, Ark.; 18 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Dan Wofford, Sr. and Dan Wofford, Jr in 1998.
Services will be held at a later date under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay.

RONALD LEON WOLFE
FAIRLAND, Okla. - Ronald Leon Wolfe, 73, of rural Fairland, died Friday, June 22, 2001 at his residence after an illness. Mr. Wolfe was born June 25, 1927 in Bristow, Okla. to Ronald Leonard Wolfe and Velma L. (Taffner) Wolfe Jones. He has lived in the Fairland area for the past 20 years. He had previously lived in Louisville, Ky. and Atlanta, Ga. His father, Ronald Wolfe, preceded him in death. Mr. Wolfe worked in management in retail furniture sales. He was also a photographer, fisherman and liked to fly airplanes.
Mr. Wolfe served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict, and attended the First Christian Church in Fairland.
Survivors include: mother;,Velma Jones of Fairland; his children's mother, Betty Ulbricht of Kokomis, Fla.; two sons, Ronald Lee Wolfe of Fairland, and Mark Wayne Wolfe of Ferncreek, Ky.; three daughters, Debbie Ann Snow of Greencastle, Ind., Rhonda Carol Cunningham of Chetopa, Kan., and Connie Kay Stovall of Louisville, Ky.; one brother, Jesse Joseph Wolfe of Indianaolis, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, in the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, Miami, Okla. Brian Gibler will officiate. Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, Southeast of Fairland, under the direction of Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Miami. Military graveside rites will be presented by the Northeast Oklahoma Veterans Detail.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 Monday evening at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.

HERSHEL 'JAKE' WOLFENBARGER
MIAMI, Okla. - Hershel "Jake" Wolfenbarger died Sunday, October 21, 2001 at 4 p.m. at Eastwood Manor Nursing Center of Commerce, Okla., after an illness. He was 73 years of age. He was a lumberyard worker. Mr. Wolfenbarger was born March 1, 1928 in rural Ottawa County, Okla., to Homer and Eva Marie (Fisher) Wolfenbarger. He lived in the Miami area most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He had worked for several different lumberyards as a yardman.
His parents, four brothers and two sisters all preceded him in death. Survivors include: one sister, Nina Wolfenbarger, Pama, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Hershel "Jake" Wolfenbarger will be Wednesday, October 24, at 10 a.m. at Council House Cemetery northeast of Grove. Rev. Larry Pickard will officiate. Military rites conducted by the NEO Veterans Funeral Detail. Arrangements are under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Picher, Okla.

JACK ROBERT WOOD
MIAMI, Okla. - Jack R. Wood, 49, passed away at 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2001 after a short illness. He was admitted to St. John's Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., on Thursday, October 11.
Jack was born on November 4, 1951 in Tulsa, Okla., to Dr. Marion W. Wood and Dorothy Elizabeth (Thompson) Wood. He lived in Pryor, Okla., until the age of six when his parents moved to Miami. He lived in the Miami area the rest of his life. He graduated from Miami High School in 1970 where he was the captain of his high school football team and President of his Senior Class. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Okla., where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. During the summer of 1973, he went through Officer's Candidate Training with the United States Marine Corps in Quantico, Va. He was employed by Day & Zimmerman Ammunition Plant in Parsons, Kan., and as a Real Estate Agent for Nancy Garrett Realty, Miami, at the time of his death. He was employed by B.F. Goodrich from 1974 until the plant closed in 1986. He was a member of First United Methodist. He was a loving father and spent much time with his children at their various sporting events as they were growing up. He was actively involved in AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) and TAC (The Athletic Congress) Track & Field events with them and they traveled to many local and national meets.
He is survived by: a daughter, Stephanie (Wood) Thomas and son-in-law Jason Thomas, Monkey Island, Okla.; a son, Chris White, Miami; a sister, Linda Martin and husband, Clifford, Garland, Texas; and a brother, Donald E. Wood, Miami. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Dr. Marion W. Wood and Dorothy Elizabeth Wood. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, October 16, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 17, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 200 "B" St. N.W., Miami. The family will be at the Jack Wood residence at 1121 6 N.W., Miami.

JAMES H. (JIM) WOOTEN
GROVE - James Howard (Jim) Wooten, age 70, went to be with our Lord on Friday, October 5, 2001 after a courageous and determined battle with heart disease and related illness.
Jim was born December 30, 1930 in Buffalo, Mo., to Hervey and Mable (Smith) Wooten. Raised and educated in Carthage, Mo., he entered the Marine Corps at an early age, spent three years in the U.S. Air Force, and three years in the U.S. Navy. Upon discharge from the Navy, he was then a member of the Naval Reserve, being called to active duty during the Korean War. Jim also served on tour of duty in Vietnam as a civilian helicopter mechanic training South Vietnamese soldiers in sheet metal work.
On August 13, 1955 he married Billy Jo Swindle in Lamar, Mo. To this union were born a daughter, Julie Ann in March 1960, and Jeffrey Howard in April 1962. He and Billy were brought back together and remarried in 1994. Jim spent many years in law enforcement with the Carthage Police Dept., served as Chief of Police in Hominy, Okla., and was employed by the Jasper County Sheriff's Dept. until retiring in 1990. He was former owner of Jim's Key Lock and Alarm in Carthage and sold the business in 1994 to retire in Grove. He was Past Commander and Life Member of the VFW Post 2590 in Carthage, a member of the American Legion #1078, Grove, and the Loyal Order of Moose #862 in Tulsa, Okla. He was also active on the late model stock car racing circuit for many years, and remained a race fan, and avid fisherman. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hominy where he was saved and baptized in 1975.
He is survived by: his wife, Billy, of the home; daughter Julie, and husband, Jim, Martin, Wynona, Okla.; son, Jeff and wife, Michele, Palo, Iowa; three grandchildren, Ryan Wooten, Hominy, and Chase and Chandler Bolton, Palo, Iowa; his mother, Mable Ford; sisters, June (and Edwin "Bud") Cooper, Virginia (and Kenneth) Spencer, all of Carthage; one brother, Carrol Ford (and Linda) of Louisburg, Mo.; two half-sisters, Loretta Wooderson (and Max), Prairie Village, Kan., and Elaine Clark (and Cecil), Springfield, Mo., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother, Dale.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Don McGonigal will officiate. VFW Post 2590 will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Monday at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are by the Ulmer Funeral Home.

NETA WOODWARD
GROVE - Neta Woodward passed away on Friday, March 29, in Irving, Texas. She lived in the Grove area for many years before moving to Texas. She attended the Grove Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie Woodward, a son, Ronnie Woodward, two sisters, Edrah Bell Robards and Bertha Davis, and one brother, W A Oliver, Jr., and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver, Sr. of Miami, Okla.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gee and Bob Campbell, of Irving, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and B.K. Woodward, of New Mexico; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held in Columbus, Kansas on Monday, April, 2, at 10:00 a.m. Services will be conducted by Murdock Funeral Home of Columbus.

CODY SIMON WYRICK
AFTON, Okla. - Cody Simon Wyrick, 14, of Afton, died Monday, June 18, 2001 in Plant City. Fla. from injuries he received in a bicycle-automobile accident. Cody was born November 24, 1986 in Miami, Okla. to Kenneth Wayne and Tammie (Tipton) Wyrick. He has lived in the Afton area most of his life. He had attended Afton schools and had been attending Konawa schools where he played football. Cody attended the Dupree Baptist Church where he played northwest of Vinita.
He is survived by his father, Kenny Wyrick, of the home; mother, Tammy Tipton Wyrick of Henryetta, Okla.; sisters, Shandie and Candice Beckwith of Sapulpa, Okla.; brothers, David Allen Berry of Dustin, Okla., and John Dallas Tipton of Henyretta, Okla.; paternal grandmother, Margie Chandler of Afton, and maternal grandfather, Roy Tipton of Vinita, Okla. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Chester Wyrick, maternal grandmother, Eva Tipton, and paternal great-grandparents Simon and Lillie Wyrick.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 25, at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Afton, with Rev. James Wethey officiating. Burial was in Sixkiller Cemetery, Afton, under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Afton.

ROBERT O. YAEGER, SR.
PITTSBURG, Kan. - Robert O. Yeager, Sr., 76 of Pittsburg, Kan., died at 8:45 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001 at the St. John's Medical Center. He was born March 15, 1925 in Chicopee, Kan., the son of Arthur and Grace Divine Yaeger. He attended area schools and was a veteran of W.W. II, entering the Army Airborne division in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. On June 12, 1943 he was united in marriage Pearl Crowe in Pittsburg. She survives at the home. Mr. Yeager was employed as a superintendent at Freeto Construction for 20 years, he also was employed by the City of Pittsburg as the Director of Public Works. He was a lifetime resident of the area and a member of the Frontenac United Methodist Church. Lifetime membership was held in the Benjamin Fuller American Legion Post #64 and the V.F.W. He also loved boating and traveling.
He is survived by one son, Robert O. Yeager, Jr., of Thayer, Mo.; three daughters, Sharon K. Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo., Peggy Yeager of Ft. Meyers, Fla., and Phyllis of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Irene Davis and Patsy Bowman, both of Pittsburg; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Arthur and James Yaeger.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 9, at the Friskel Funeral Home with Rev. Verl Strong officiating. Services were under the direction of the Friskel Funeral Home 230 E. McKay Frontenac, Kan.
