Goodin

Ethel Goodin, 94, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000 in a Lawton hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000 at the First Baptist Church of Roosevelt with the Rev. Dennis Yates of Lindsay and the Rev. Doug Henson, pastor officiating. Burial will be in the Roosevelt Cemetery under the direction of the Hackney-Gish Funeral Home of Hobart.

She was born Dec. 6, 1905, in Petersburg, Indian Territory, to Peter Alton and Malinda (Clark) Meekins. She attended Wichita Valley Elementary School and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1926. She lived in Roosevelt most of her life and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She married Robert Lee "Bob" Goodin Dec. 22, 1929 in Roosevelt.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Linda Goodin of Altus; two daughters and son-in-law, Norine and Willie Jackson of Roosevelt and Linda and Jack Hash of Lawton; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Goodin Smith, Arkansas Pass, Texas; two sisters, Mary Jones, Pflugerville, Texas and Nadine Blocker of Dan Antonio; eight grandchildren and spouses, Renny and Karla Jackson, Jenny and Paul Loveless, Nancy and Mike Cooper, Mark and Sherri Goodin, Michael Goodin, Kelly Goodin, C.J. Hash III, and Gretchen and Lou Heffner; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1989; a son, Tom in 1992; two grandsons, Kenny and Danny Jackson; two sisters, Ruby Brackney and Mable Aldich; two brothers, P.J. an Alvin Meekins.

Memorials may be made to Hash-Goodin Chemotherapy Fund at The Cancer Society, 1211 W. Gore, Lawton, First Baptist Church Annex, Roosevelt or Baptist Children's Home, Oklahoma City.

Heatly

Carrie Elizabeth Byrom Heatly died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, after an extended illness. A memorial service is set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church of Mangum under the direction of Greer Funeral Home.

Heatly was born Aug. 14, 1915, in Brinkman, to Luther and Clara Byrom. She was the sixth of seven children.

She attended Oklahoma College for Women and the University of Oklahoma, receiving degrees in chemistry and home economics. She taught school for more than 20 years in schools in Guthrie, Vinita and Blackwell, before retiring in 1972.

She was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church of Mangum, where she taught Sunday School and participated in the United Methodist Women's Group. She was an avid reader and bridge player.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Heatly.

Survivors include: a sister, Evelyn Henson of Wilmington, Del.; two sons, Richard Heatly and wife Sharon of Norman and John Heatly and wife Cindy of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Rachel and Megan Heatly of Norman and Anne and Jack Heatly of Oklahoma City; numerous nieces and nephews, including Doug Humphrey of Berkley, Calif., who Heatly helped raise.

Hoffman

Ruby Hoffman, 91, died Thursday at her home in Friendship. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kincannon Funeral Home Chapel with Darrell Barnes officiating . Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born Jan. 29, 1909 in Jackson County to John and Emma Gant. She married Walter Hoffman April 7, 1925 in Mangum. She and her husband farmed in the Friendship area for many years. She was an active member of the congregation of Jehovah's witnesses.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; four brothers, Dallas Gant, Hobart, Fount Gant, and John Gant, Jr.; a sister, Bonnie Harris; great-granddaughter, Tara Farmer.

Survivors by her daughter, Jackie Farmer of Altus; a sister, Margie Burson of Mineral Wells, Texas; four granddaughters, Janice Wilson and Donna Easly both of Snyder, Debbie Laney, Headrick and Tina Briscoe, Altus; seven great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Jenkins

Janice Childs Jenkins, 61, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000 at her home in Altus. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at the First Baptist Church in Altus with Keith Wiginton officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

She was born Feb. 11, 1939 to Jack and Mozell Hawkins. She attended Ron School north of Hollis until she married Matt Childs. She graduated from Weatherford High School and received bachelors and masters degrees from Southwestern State. She taught school for 31 years at Sunset Elementary.

After the death of her first husband, Matt, she married James Jenkins in July of 1988. Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends and at their lake cabin. Her other hobbies included playing golf, water skiing, reading and church activities.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Intercessory Prayer Group, Discovery Sunday Class, Round Table Book Club and the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include her husband, James, of the home; her mother, Mozell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Pam Childs and Jimmy and Susan Childs; two step-sons and two step-daughter-in-laws, Randi Jenkins and Sandi Jenkins and Mark Jenkins and Renee Jenkins; a step-daughter, Tamara Sharp and husband Leroy; seven grandchildren Candace, Austin, Holly, Jordan and Caylee Childs, Jessica Jenkins and Courtney Sharp; several aunts and many friends.

The family has selected the Jackson County Hospice as appropriate for contributions in honor of Janice Childs Jenkins.

Loftis

J.L. Loftis, 69, died this morning at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are pending with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Long

Graveside services for Bessie T. Long, 100-year-old Eldorado resident will be Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Eldorado Cemetery with Bill Osborne officiating. Arrangements are by Kincannon Funeral Home. She died Feb. 17, 2000 in the Grace Living Center in Altus.

She was born July 20, 1899 in Indian Territory near what is now Thackerville to Daniel and Nancy (Austin) Hall. The family moved to Odema east of Eldorado in 1901. Her father farmed and had blacksmith shop. She married Lonnie Long Dec. 20, 1919. They made their home at Odema where they operated a farm. He died in 1961. She moved into Eldorado in 1962. She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church in Eldorado and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, six brothers, and two sisters.

Survivors include a son, Donley Long of Eldorado; two daughters, Vivian Wayne of Belleair Beach, Fla. and Imogene Robbins of Duncan; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Monzingo

Linnie Sue Monzingo, 62, Ardmore, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Monty Baggett officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis.

Monzingo was born Nov. 26, 1937, in Abilene, Texas, to Willie Calvin and Verna Mae Davis Monzingo. She had been a resident of Ardmore for the past nine years. She moved there from Dallas, Texas.

While in Dallas, she worked as an operator for the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Tafford Leon Monzingo.

Survivors include: a sister, Roberta Clark and a brother, Jerry Don Monzingo, both of Ardmore. She is also survived by many close friends.

Myers

Services for Gary L. "Red" Myers, 51, Tishomingo, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Tishomingo with the Rev. Keith Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at Condon Grove Cemetery with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He died Sunday at his residence. Services will be conducted by Clark Funeral Service of Tishomingo.

He was born March 26, 1948 in Milburn to Clyde H. and Annie Lorene Williams Myers. He was a lifelong resident of this area and attended school in Milburn through the 11th grade. He later received his G.E.D. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict with eight years of service. He was a post commander of the VFW, a member and the "Leading Knight" of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge in Atoka and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Tishomingo.

He was preceded in death by is father, Clyde H. Myers.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Myers of the home and Rachelle Myers of Mangum; his mother, Lorene Myers of Tishomingo; his mother, Lorene Myers of Tishomingo; two brothers, John Myers of Milburn and Donald Myers of North Carolina and four nieces.

Newcomb

JoDella (Sirmons) Newcomb died at her home Feb. 13. She was 63. Services were held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Assembly of God, of Chandler. The Rev. Doyle Seeley officiated. Burial will be at the Oak Park Cemetery at Chandler, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

She was born Feb. 22, 1936 in Lone Grove to Benjamin Sirmons and Josephine (Pierce) Sirmons. She married Jerry Dean Newcomb on June 7, 1951 in Altus.

She was a homemaker and member of First Assembly of God in Chandler for the past 10 years.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Newcomb, of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Terry and Celeste Newcomb, Broken Arrow, Ben and Shirley Newcomb, Chandler, Larry Newcomb, Chandler; two brothers, A.J. Sirmons, Agra and Velton Sirmons of Granite; a sister, Natalia Burnett, Nacoma, Texas; three grandchildren, Lance Newcomb, Travis Newcomb and Mark Newcomb and three great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters.

Norman

Claude Earl Norman, 68, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Mangum City Hospital in Mangum. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Greer Funeral Home Chapel in Mangum with the Rev. Ralph Chapman officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery of Mangum. Greer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born July 30, 1931 in Mangum to Claude Edward and Ruby Faye (Wheeler) Norman. He attended Mangum High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He married Peggy Jo Watson on Nov. 22, 1955 in Ardmore. They made their home in Mangum and he was a corrections officer for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. The family moved Laverne and lived there from 1988 until 1993. His wife, Peggy, died Feb. 6, 1993. He retired in August of 1993 as a sergeant with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. After retirement he traveled throughout the country in his motor home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a brother, Ed Norman.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Shelly Norman of Edmond, Ed and Liz Norman of Mangum, Chris and Kelli Norman of Yukon; A brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Pat Norman of Hollis; a sister and brother-in-law, Lavita and Rob Overton of Houston; a sister-in-law, Jeri Norman of Mangum; ten grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Paddack

Treva Lucretia Paddack, 80, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora, Calif. Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis with the Rev. David Furlow officiating. Services are under the direction of Stewart Funeral Home.

Paddack was born May 12, 1919, to Vernon Lindsey and Grace Pringle Lindsey in Hollis. She worked as a schoolteacher for the West Covina School District for 35 years.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Paddack, in November of 1999.

Paddack is survived by one daughter, Linda L. Whelan; one granddaughter, Johnnie Whelan Giovinetti; one grandson, Timothy Whelan; two great grandchildren, Katelyn Giovinetti and Lauren Whelan and one cousin, Charlene Shafer, all of California.

Perry

Elsie Perry, 77, died this morning at St. Joseph Hospital in Stockton, Calif. Funeral services are pending with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
