JERRY LESTER CONROW
INOLA, Okla. - Funeral service for Jerry Conrow were at 1 p.m. Monday, March 25, at Inola United Methodist Church. Rev. Paul Hamilton officiated. Burial followed in Highland Cemetery under direction of Inola Funeral Home.
Jerry died Thursday, March 21, 2002 at his home in Inola. He was 73.
The son of Lester Luther and Marion Francis Leak Conrow, he was born July 18, 1928 in Neosho, Mo. He attended school in Miami and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force November 7, 1945, serving until he was honorably discharged in 1948. He moved to Tulsa where he worked for Douglas and did telephone right-of-way work with his step-father. On August 16, 1958 he married Roberta Marie Rardin in Siloam Springs, Ark. Jerry retired from Rockwell in 1985. After retirement, Jerry and Roberta moved to Flint Ridge in Kansas, Okla. They built a retirement home there and were instrumental in founding an Interdenominational church at Flint Ridge. He was an avid golfer and fisherman.
In 1996 they moved back to Inola where they are members of the Inola United Methodist Church. On Veterans Day in 2001, Jerry was presented with his high school diploma from the Veterans Administration. This was a very important occasion for him and many other veterans.
His parents and brother, Ronald Conrow, preceded him in death.
Family members who survive are his wife, Roberta; sons, David and wife, Joyce Meeker, and Donnie and wife, Debbie Meeker, all of Inola; daughters, Debra and husband, Jeff Hayes, of Kansas, Okla., Connie Coday of Inola, and Charla and husband, Don Hendricks, of Claremore; sister, Colleen Coatney of Tulsa; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may contribute to Inola United Methodist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 908, Inola, OK 74036.

NAOMI ROSE (STAPLETON) COOPER
JAY, Okla. - Naomi Rose (Stapleton) Cooper went home on September 28, 2002 at the age of 87 years and nine months. Naomi was born December 5, 1914 to Henry M. Stapleton and Mary Alice (Lowe) Stapleton in Whitten, Iowa. She was raised in Iowa with four sisters and two brothers. On October 9, 1943, Naomi married James H. "Hoopie" Cooper in Newkirk, Okla. They lived in Shidler, Okla., Phillips, Tex., Burbank and Nowata, Okla., and finally made their home in Bartlesville, Okla. After retirement, they made their home in the Grove and Jay area.
They raised three children: daughter, Peggy Sue Kitchens and husband, David, of Bartlesville, Okla.; son, James L. Cooper and wife, Carol, of Jay, Okla.; and son, Charles R. Cooper and wife, Linda, of Del City, Okla.
Naomi was a member of West Side Southern Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, and all her sisters and brothers. She had 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many loving relatives and friends.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, October 5, at 11 a.m. at the West Side Southern Baptist Church in Bartlesville, Okla., with Rev. Steve Stephens officiating. The arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, Okla.

LEONA COPELAND
GROVE - Leona Ann Green Copeland, 83, Grove, formerly of Joplin, Mo., died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2002 in Grove. She had been in ill health since February. She was born November 6, 1919 in Neodesha, Kan., to Joseph Elmer and Lydia Isabel Pendleton Green. She came to Joplin in 1931 from Tulsa, Okla. She was formerly employed by Sear's, M & O Cigar, Newman's and Montgomery Ward. She had been a Jasper County Deputy Sheriff. She was a member of the Elk River Baptist Church and formerly the Eastern Star.
She married Eugene "Gene" Copeland on October 11, 1945 in Columbus, Kan. He died August 21, 1994. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Richard W.O. Gammill and Grover Ernest Gammill, and two brothers, William Joseph Green and Patrick Henry Green.
She is survived by: two brothers, Richard P. Green and his wife, Joanna, of Joplin, and Robert E. Green and his wife, Willidean, of Blue Springs, Mo.; three sisters, Aileen Green McCarter and her husband, Ted, of Overland Park, Kan., Evelyn Green Cobb and her husband, James, of Joplin, and Glenna White of Grove; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Juanita Manning of Joplin.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Tim Sumners and Rev. Charlie Burnett will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Monday until service time at the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary. Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

THURL L. COPELAND
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Thurl L. Copeland, 77-year-old long time resident of Fayetteville, died Saturday, September 21, 2002 at his home. Born July 2, 1925 in Crossroads, Ark., he was the son of Frank Nelson Copeland and Willie Staggs Copeland. Thurl earned a B.S. degree from the University of Arkansas in 1948, and his Master's in Social Work from the University of Louisville in 1952. He also did postgraduate work at the University of Chicago and Columbia University in New York. Copeland was a WWII Navy Veteran, serving with the third fleet in the South Pacific. He married Onita J. Chastain May 5, 1949 in Gentry, Ark.
Mr. Copeland had served as Chief Social Worker for Veterans Administration Hospital in Fayetteville since 1961, where he coordinated numerous rehabilitation programs. He was a former district chairman of Northwest Arkansas chapter of American Association of Social Workers, past president of Northwest Arkansas Hospital Directors, former board member of Benton, Madison and Washington Counties Mental Health Association, and a member of the personnel committee helping to establish Ozark Guidance Center.
Thurl was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fayetteville, where he served as past chairman of the Board of Deacons, past member of the Finance and Building and Properties committees, Sunday School director, and a former Sunday School teacher. He was past president of the board of directors of Fayetteville United Community Service and past president of the Fayetteville Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include: his wife, Onita Copeland, of the home; three sons, Timothy Copeland of Fayetteville, Mark Copeland of Plano, Texas, and Frank Copeland of Flower Mound, Texas; two grandsons, Grant Copeland of Plano, and Addam Copeland of Austin, Texas; three sisters, Myrtle Hull and Betty Bennett of Kansas City, Mo., and Velma Stewart of Raytown, Mo.; and two nieces and five nephews, all of the Kansas City area.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, at First Baptist Church in Fayetteville with Rev. Doug Falknor officiating. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery near Siloam Springs. Arrangements were under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark.

EDGAR 'LEE' COPPEDGE
KANSAS, Okla. - Edgar 'Lee' Coppedge, 74-year-old Kansas, Okla., resident, died August 2, 2002 at Quail Ridge Living Center, born May 4, 1928 in Leach, Okla. He was a lifetime resident of the Kansas, Okla., area and was a member of The Church of Christ in Kansas, Okla. He worked as a farmhand, the son of Earl Coppedge and Elena Ellen Mahan Coppedge. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Roy, and two sisters, Stella and Velma.
He is survived by: four brothers, Lloyd Coppedge of Tahlequah, Okla., Floyd Coppedge of Okla. City, Okla., Delano Coppedge of Kansas, Okla., and Robert Coppedge of Kansas, Okla.; six sisters, Gladys Jones of Tulsa, Okla., Jewel D. Russell of Kansas, Okla., Lula Ellen Hess of Siloam Springs, Ark., Norma McCall of Tulsa, Okla., Bonnie Mahaffey of San Diego, Calif., and Francis Fell of Alaska; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Minister Lloyd Coppedge and Minister Floyd of Coppedge officiating. Burial will follow at Kansas Cemetery, Kansas, Okla. Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark.

HARVEY JAMES CORNELL
GROVE - Harvey Cornell, age 92, died Saturday, August 3, 2002 in La Puente, Calif., where he was living with his daughter. The son of Wilson Standford Cornell and Laura (Miller) Cornell, he was born on August 1, 1910 in Rocky Comfort, Mo. He was a veteran of WW II. He worked as a machinist for Waste King Universal for 30 years.
Survivors include: four sons, Henry "Hank" Cornell, Sacramento, Calif., James "Jim" Cornell, Highland, Calif., Thomas "Tom" C. Cornell, Duarte, Calif., and Robert Cornell in La Puenta, Calif.; one daughter, Susan Parent, La Puente; two brothers, Hubert Cornell in Boliver, Mo., and Wilson Cornell, Grove; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
After a service in California, Harvey was in Grove for a funeral at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 12, at the Butler Baptist Church. Interment was in the Southwest City Cemetery. Local arrangements were under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

MICHAEL R. CORNSHUCKER
JAY, Okla. - Michael Ray Cornshucker, age 47, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., after a lengthy illness.
He was born on December 16, 1954 in Sugar Creek, Mo., to Bill and Ella (Kingfisher) Cornshucker. He was a member of the Clouds Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his parents, Bill and Ella Cornshucker of Sugar Creek; one sister, Doris Botts of Canyonville, Ore.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 1, at Clouds Creek Cemetery with Rev. John Snell officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, March 31 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.
Services are under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.

EUNICE MARIE COSTILOW
JAY, Okla. - Eunice Marie Costilow, age 85, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 28, 2002. She was born to Andrew and Myrtle Spear on July 31, 1917 in Paris, Texas.
Eunice is survived by: a daughter, Glenna Cunningham and husband, Joe Bob, of Rose, Okla., and a son, Tim Costilow and wife, Sarah, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; granddaughters, Lycretia Cunningham and Jessi Chance; grandsons, Gregory Rowland, Colby Cunningham and Matthew Costilow; two great-grandchildren and a host of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Costilow. A Delaware County resident for nearly 50 years, Eunice was a dear mother who loved her children, and a Nannie who took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 30, at the Worley-Luginbuel Chapel in Jay. Interment followed at Duffield Cemetery in Jay. Arrangements were under the directions of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay.

SYLVESTER FRED COX
JAY, Okla. - Sylvester Fred Cox, age 77, met his Lord Thursday, February 14, 2002. Fred was born in Hickory Grove, Okla., on April 5, 1924 to Homer Cox and Della Berry Cox. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and two sons.
Survivors include: six sisters, Melba Slater, Dorthy England, Leta Barton, Vontreba Buentemeir, Alfie Barker, and Lula Hicks; two brothers, Carmon Cox and Manford Cox; four daughters, Pat Hernandez, Stella Bowman, Loretta Higgs, and Christy Cox; six sons, Johnny, Robert, Wesley, Larry, Dale, and Mike; 36 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday, February 19, at Turner Funeral Chapel in Jay. Fred was laid to rest at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Grove under the direction of the Turner Funeral Chapel in Jay.

BELVA BEATRICE CRAFTON
FAIRLAND, Okla. - Belva Beatrice Crafton, Fairland, died September 28, 2002 at Integris Hospital in Miami. She was 79. She was born to John and Lottie Blalack Higinbotham on March 24, 1923 at Copeland Switch, near Hickory Grove, in Delaware County. She married James (Jack) Crafton on August 9, 1941. They had 61 happy years together. From this union they had five children. Mrs. Crafton loved God above all else, then her husband and family. She was a devoted Christian and pastor's wife. Anyone who knew her was incredibly blessed, especially her grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, and her children. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angela Crafton; a grandson, Gregory Crafton; her parents; a brother, Frank, and three sisters, Sylvia, Margie, and Sarah.
She is survived by: her husband, Jack, of the home; two sons and their wives, Bob and Rhonda Crafton, Ozark, Mo., and Danny and Sheila Crafton, Commerce; three daughters and their husbands, Jacqueline and Rob Scutt, Round Rock, Texas, Joyce and Roger Lacy, and Judy and Mike Harrison, Fairland; a sister, Wanda Anderson, Freeport, Texas, a brother, Ralph Higinbotham, Fairland; a brother-in-law, Charley Crafton, Fairland; a sister-in-law, Elsie Hamner, Saltillo, Miss.; 25 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 1, at First Assembly of God Church in Fairland, with Rev. John Hocker and Rev. Robert Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Don Higinbotham, Ralph Dale Higinbotham, Darrell Stevens, Jimmy Crafton, Donnie Crafton, and Jackie Crafton. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Adcock Funeral Home in Fairland. Arrangements are being provided by Adcock Funeral Home of Fairland.

ELLIOT (AL) CRAIN
GROVE - Elliot (Al) Crain, 89 years old, died on March 14, 2002. He was a long-time resident of Grove and a member of the Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, "Lee" Crain, and one daughter. Survivors include: one sister, four grandchildren, four nieces and nephews and many friends.

RUBY MAY CRAMER
GROVE - Ruby May Cramer, age 86, passed from this life on Friday, July 19, 2002 at the Betty Ann Nursing Center.
Ruby May was born on June 27, 1916 in Rural Galena, Kan., to Joseph Elic and Mary Elizabeth Eleanor (Murray) Fry. She was a life long resident of the Baxter Springs, Kan., area.
She attended the Fellowship Baptist Church in Baxter Springs, Kan.
Ruby May Fry and Clarence Henry Cramer were united in marriage on August 6, 1930. He preceded in death on August 8, 1969.
Surviving are: her children, son, Joe Cramer and wife, Nellie, son, Harold Allen (Rocky) and wife, Pearl, all of Baxter Springs, Kan., son, Norman Cramer and wife, Edna, of Grove, daughter, Beulah Gaston of Riverton, Kan., daughter, Phyllis Brown and husband, Larry, of Sedalia, Mo.; daughter-in-law Rita Cramer of Baxter Springs, Kan.; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Cramer was also preceded in death by her parents, her son, Jim Cramer on August 1, 1993, grandson, Rick Gaston on February 2, 1989, grandson, Jamie Cramer on March 18, 1989, granddaughter, Karen Gaston Shouse on February 6, 1999, granddaughter, Diedra Cramer Horn on June 20, 1999, two infant grandsons and several great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 22, at Gandy Cemetery, Rest-A-While, Kansas. Rev. Jim McMechan officiated.
Visitation was Sunday afternoon at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel in Baxter Springs, Kan.

ROBERT PAUL 'BOB' CRANK
JAY, Okla. - Robert Paul "Bob" Crank died Friday, March 29, 2002 at Grove General Hospital in Grove. He was born at Miami, Okla., on April 7, 1951 to Leslie Crank and Virginia Davis Crank.
Bob graduated from Jay High School and later went to school at Okmulgee Vo-Tech and studied mechanics. Bob worked with his father, Peewee, at Crank's Service Station and operated a wrecker service and was a honorary member of the Oklahoma Troopers Association and a volunteer fireman. Bob's father, Peewee, preceded him in death.
Survivors include: his mother, Virginia, of Jay; his loving wife, Charlotte, of Jay; one son, Chad Crank and wife, Linda, of Jay; a daughter, Michelle and husband, Roger Renner; two grandsons, Michael and Brandon Crank of Tulsa, Okla.; and three granddaughters, Britney, Taylor, and Alissa Rogers.
Crank family visitation will be Monday evening, April 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Chapel of Jay. Services for Bob will be Tuesday, April 2, at Assembly of God Church in Jay at 2 p.m. Bob will be laid to rest at Duffield Cemetery in Jay.
Services are under the direction of the Turner Funeral Chapel in Jay.
