DANIEL DALE DAREING
GROVE - Daniel (Danny) Dale Dareing, age 53, a resident of Grove, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at 12:36 a.m. at the VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., after a short illness.
He was born February 27, 1949 in Miami, Okla., to Jay Van and Rex Ann (Taylor) Dareing. Danny was a graduate of Miami High School (MHS) where he lettered in football and basketball. He was a member of the first MHS wrestling team and spent summers playing baseball. He graduated in 1967 from NEO A&M with a degree in computer science. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army 173rd Airborne Battalion where he was a decorated hero, receiving the Bronze Star Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
In spite of being left a paraplegic as a result of contact with agent orange, he was a very effective Baptist preacher, pastoring at Peoria, Picher Trinity, Lone Star, and currently Elk River Baptist Church, which he began as a mission of Jay First Baptist in 1993. This church grew into the fastest growing church in the Baptist Association. Every church Dan pastored grew under his ministry. The fruits of his ministry remain as his legacy. After spending most of his life in Miami, he moved to Grove seven years ago.
Brother Danny was known for his humor and wit, and powerful evangelistic preaching. He loved the Lord and people, and enjoyed playing the mandolin with the Elk River Baptist praise band, singing, karaoke, his computer and fishing.
He married Vee Alcontin on October 20, 1984 in Picher, Okla.
Survivors include: Vee Dareing of the home; one son, Daniel Cade Dareing, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two daughters, Elisabeth Ann Dareing of Miami, and Cristina Sarate of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Jayne and Jack Trask of Miami, and Terri and Robert Wilson of Ardmore, Okla.; parents, Jay Van and Rex Ann Dareing of Miami; three grandchildren, Ava Acosta of Miami, Olivia Acosta of Miami, and Miriam Nino of Miami; nieces, Angie Douthit of Miami, Mandi Smith of Kansas City, and Tara Wilson of Ardmore, Okla.; nephews, Sam Wilson of Welch, Okla., and Josh Wilson of Marlow, Okla.; seven great nieces and nephew; and a host of friends.
Services will be held Friday, June 7, at 9 a.m. at the Elk River Baptist Church northwest of Grove, officiated by Rev. Gerald Dyer, Rev. Larry Jackson, and Rev. Robert Wilson. Interment and military honors will be at Williams Timber Hill Cemetery east of Welch.
A homegoing praise celebration of eternal life with Jesus will be held at the Elk River Baptist Church at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 6, for all of Danny's friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Elk River Baptist Church building fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami. .

DUKE DAVENPORT, SR.
GROVE - Duke Davenport, Sr., resident of Grove, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at the age of 78 years. He was born April 21, 1923 at Hopkinsville, Ky., to Duke and Ernestine Thacker Davenport. Duke was married to the late Ruth Jordan, who gave him two children, and then to the late Dorothy. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII, and was retired from the Prudential Insurance Company.
Survivors include: his daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and John Landrum, of Fairland, Okla.; son and daughter-in-law, Duke, II and Renee' Davenport of Austin, Texas; two step-daughters, Nan and Cathy, both of Claremore, Okla.; 11 grandchildren, John and wife, Tia Lind, of Chelsea, Okla., Jim Lind of Enid, Okla., Chad Lind of Owasso, Okla., Jordan Landrum of Fairland, Amanda and husband, Henry, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jason Davenport of North Carolina, Johnny Lee Landrum of Oklahoma City, Okla., Dustin Welch of Owasso, and Courtney, Elizabeth and Joe of Claremore; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, and his second wife, Dorothy Jane.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel, 9110 North Garnett, Owasso, with speaker Tim Nelson. Serving as casket bearers will be his grandsons, John Lind, Jim Lind, Chad Lind, Jordan Landrum, Dustin Welch, Jason Davenport, and Johnny Lee Landrum.
Arrangements and services are entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.

TRYNTON WAYNE DAVIS
TIAJUANA, Okla. - Trynton Wayne Davis passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, Okla. Trynton was born June 4, 2002 in Tulsa, Okla., to Darren and Lori Davis. Trynton is survived by his parents, three sisters, Burgandi, Kitryna, and Medazia; two brothers, Weslie and Daron, all of the home; and grandparents, Esther Davis, Susie McDonald, and Wayne and Shelia Bacon.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 8, at 2 p.m. at the Spavinaw/Strang Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Turner Funeral Chapel in Langley, Okla.

WILLIAM A. 'BILL' DAVIS
MIAMI, Okla. - William A. "Bill" Davis, of Miami, died early Saturday morning, August 10, 2002 after an illness. He was 84.
Davis was born October 17, 1917 to Will and Lucy (Tyson) Davis at Stillwater, Okla. He grew up in Stillwater and received his Master's Degree from Oklahoma State University.
Davis served in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1945 as Lt. Jr. Grade in the U.S. Navy, before going into the teaching profession. He was well known and respected during his teaching years in Miami for the quality homes that he and his carpentry students built. He retired from the teaching profession in 1980 with 34 years of experience.
His parents, a brother, and his first wife preceded him in death.
In 1963 he married Lorene Booth, who survives of the home. Additional survivors include: four children and their spouses, Phillip and Cheryl Davis, Springfield, Mo., Bill and Sandy Booth, Piedmont, Okla., Linda and David Brown, Springfield, Mo., and Karen and Bob Kelly, Miami; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; and a brother, Willard Davis, Bristow, Okla.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, in the chapel of the Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams Coal Creek Cemetery.

ROBERT ALLEN DEAN
GROVE - Robert Allen Dean, 70, died Friday, August 9, 2002 at Grand Lake Villa.
He was born in Chicago, Ill., on June 15, 1932, to Charles and Marjorie (Lyons) Dean. He worked as a security guard and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include numerous cousins.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

HUGH G. DEBORD
GROVE - Hugh DeBord, age 76, died Friday, January 11, 2002 at his home in Grove. The son of Hugh and Lillian (Pearson) DeBord, he was born October 10, 1925 in Olathe, Kan. He worked in the timber industry in Wyoming as a logger. Later Hugh worked for McDonald-Douglas for 35 years, part of which was in California, retiring in 1985 in St. Louis, Mo. Because of his love for fishing, he moved to Grove and Grand Lake in 1993. He also loved gardening and landscaping. Hugh served in the U.S. Air Force in WWII and Korea. He married Peggy Ann McCall in 1995.
Survivors include: his wife, Peggy McCall DeBord, of Grove; two daughters, Susan Foster and husband, Allen, of Belleville, Ill., and Penny Fiedler and husband, Gary, of Prairie Du Rocher; two brothers, Robert DeBord and wife of Kiowa, Okla., and Richard DeBord and wife, Irene, of Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Dorthy Foulk and husband, Gary, of West Plains, Mo.; and a grandson, Edward DeBord and wife, Beth, of Connecticut.
Preceding in death were his parents, a daughter, Judith Ann DeBord, a sister, Mary Martha Lowery, and a brother, Phillip DeBord.
The funeral was at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 14, in the Worley-Luginbuel Chapel. The interment was at 3:30 p.m. in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Mt. View, Mo. The services were under the directions of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

JAMES 'JIMMIE' DEITRICK
KETCHUM, Okla. - James "Jimmie" Deitrick, 35-year-old Ketchum resident, passed away Monday, March 18, 2002 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla. Jimmie went to be with Jesus after a serious battle of Burketts Lymphoma Cancer.
He was born September 16, 1966 to Harry Thomas and Flodene F. (Wittum) Deitrick in Vinita, Okla. Jimmie owned and operated Deitrick's Roofing. He was a volunteer fire fighter with the Ketchum Fire Department. He loved to hunt and fish.
Jimmie was married to Dacia Prather for several years and to this union were born Summer, Hailey, Tara, Erin, Steven, and Heath.
Survivors include: his parents, Tom and Flodene Deitrick, of rural Vinita; four daughters, Summer and Hailey Deitrick of North Carolina, Tara McKee of Owasso, Okla., and Erin Deitrick of Ketchum; two sons, Steven Deitrick of rural Vinita, and Heath Deitrick of North Carolina; two sisters; one brother, Kenny Deitrick and wife, Angela, of Pryor, Okla.; fiancée, Stephanie Turner of Ketchum; and a special child, Shelby Backward of Ketchum; and many friends.
Services will be held Friday, March 22, at 2 p.m. at the Fellowship of Believers Church with Rev. Jack Nester officiating. Interment will be in Timpson Chapel Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Burckhalter Funeral Home in Vinita.

ROBERT E. (BOB) DENNIS
INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - Robert E. (Bob) Dennis, 57, of rural route 2, Independence, co-owner and operator of BLM Electrical Services, Inc., of Independence, was killed in an automobile accident Thursday, October 31, 2002 on S.H. 169 between Coffeyville and Independence.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5, at Bolton Friends Church with Rev. Grady Miller officiating. Friends may call at Potts Chapel to register until 5 p.m. on Monday and may register at the church after 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
Memorial remembrances have been suggested to Bolton Friends Church. Memorial remembrances will be received at either the Potts Chapel or the Church.
Robert Eugene Dennis was born May 5, 1945 in Parsons, Kan. He was the son of Victor Eugene Dennis and Marcia Louise (Baker) Dennis. He graduated from Hutchison High School and then attended Hutchison Junior College for two years. Following his schooling he served with the United States Navy. Following his schooling he accepted employment with the Kansas Gas & Electric Co., later working as an electrician with Vining Electric of Independence before starting his own company, Dennis Electric, which is now BLM Electric.
In 1969 he was united in marriage to Virginia Simmons. The couple were later divorced.
He was a member of Bolton Friends Church and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a former member of the City of Independence Electrical Inspection Board.
Survivors include: his companion, Linda Keller, of the home; two daughters, Wanda Farris, of Independence, and Robin Dennis of Cookson, Okla.; three grandchildren; his parents, Victor and Marcia Dennis, of Miami, Okla.; one sister, Wanda Clifford, of Kansas City, Kan.; and two nephews.
The family may be contacted at the Wanda Farris home, 708 West Maple, Independence.

GEE-GA-LEE-LEE 'CHICK' O'FIELD BUZZARD DETLEFSEN
GROVE - Gee-ga-lee-lee "Chick" Detlefsen, age 67, died Thursday, February 14, 2002 at her home after a lengthy illness. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, at the Butler Baptist Church with Rev. Dolphus Blevins officiating. Burial will follow at the Snell Cemetery. Family will greet friends at 6 p.m. Monday February 18, at the Ellis Family Funeral Home in Grove.
Gee-ga-lee-lee Detlefsen was born March 29, 1934 in Grove to Johnson and Mary (Rardin) O'Field. She married Floyd Detlefsen in Delaware County, Okla., in 1995. He preceded her in death in 1995. Chick became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Jay, Okla., in 1971. She joined the Grove chapter in 1974. She served as Worthy Matron three times, including at the time of her death. She also served as Grand Ruth in 1997 and was a life member. During her year as Worthy Matron she made Don Devore of Tulsa an honorary brother of the Cherokee tribe.
Survivors include: three sons, Floyd Holcomb of the home, Gregory Allen Holcomb and his wife, Marilyn, of Tulsa, Okla., and Robert Quinton and wife, Connie Sue, of Jay; four daughters, Mary Elizabeth Phillips of the home, Kelly Barnes and husband, Mickey, of Tahlequah, Okla., Jamey Husong and husband, Charlie, of Grove, and Quahnah Gardner and husband, Wes, of Grove; one sister, Floydeene Hazen and husband, George, of Jay; five grandchildren, Johnna Phillips, Cody Quinton, Casey Holcomb, Nicole Holcomb, and Katie Gardner; niece, Debi Troppman and nephew, John Merchant, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Chick was loved by all who knew her.
Services are entrusted to Ellis Family Funeral Home, 107 S. Broadway, in Grove.

DOLLIE DEVORE
GROVE - Dollie DeVore went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 12, 2002 at the Grove Nursing Center. She was 90.
Dollie was born January 16, 1912 to Daniel and Alpha (Munns) Lowery at Coweta, Okla. She was a homemaker and a charter member of the Church of the Shepherd in Grove. She married Bill DeVore on January 16, 1931 in Coweta. He preceded her in death on July 23, 1978.
Survivors include: one son, Rev. David DeVore and wife, Judy, of Grove; four sisters, Juanita Davis of Sterling, Okla., Helen Haynes of Bristow, Okla., Millie Dixon of Lawton, Okla., and Pauline Kelly of Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers, Eugene Lowery of the state of Oregon, and Jimmy Lowery of Haskell, Okla.; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Rev. David DeVore to officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at the Flower Mound Cemetery in Lawton, Okla.
