B. JAYNE GREENE
VINITA, Okla. - B. Jayne Greene, 78-year-old lifetime Vinita resident, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2002 at the home of her caretaker following an extended illness.
Jayne was born January 25, 1924 in Vinita to Mack and Inez (Wilson) Greene. She graduated from Vinita High School and from Northeastern Junior College in Miami, Okla., and then attended business school. Through the years Jayne worked as a legal secretary for several attorneys in Vinita, at Eastern State Hospital, and for the G.R.D.A., retiring after 23 years of service there.
Jayne was a former member of the Vinita Business & Professional Women, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Bass'n Gals Fishing Club and the First Christian Church of Vinita. She had a passion for fishing and participated in many tournaments in the area.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one baby sister, Joanne.
Survivors include: two sisters, Deanna Lodes and husband, Ed, of Tulsa, Okla., and Emma Jeanne Crouch and husband, Jim, of Vinita; one brother, Willard Greene of Phoenix, Md.; four nephews, David Robertson, Henry and Joel Crouch, and Mike Lodes; one niece, Rhonda Robertson; and good friends and caretakers, Craig and Pam Sparks.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 28, at the Burckhalter Memorial Chapel. Pastor Keith Mackey will officiate. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of the Burckhalter Funeral Home.

KITTY WINONA ALBRO GRUBB
MIAMI, Okla. - Kitty Winona Grubb passed away Thursday evening, December 12, 2002, at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center at Miami after a short illness. she was 93. She was a life-long resident of the Miami area, residing the last 9 years at the Autumn Place in Baxter Springs, Kan.
Mrs. Grubb was born to Frances and Ern Albro on May 29, 1909 in Ottawa County. She had one brother, Doval A. Albro, now deceased.
At four years old, she traveled to Pueblo, Colo. with her parents and two-year old brother, grandfather, Charlie Albro, and newly married aunt and uncle, Leona and Roy Divine, along with a family greyhound dog. Two covered wagons containing all their household possessions provided the transportation for the trip. Upon arriving, her family found work at a general mercantile store. Three years later, the family returned to Moccasin Bend, east of Miami, where Mr. Grubb's parents owned and operated a grocery business.
Kitty Winona Albro married P.W. "Chick" Grubb in 1938. Together, they had two children, a son, Sam Grubb, who resides southeast of Miami with wife, Pat, and a daughter, Linda Bingham, who resides with husband, Larry, in Baxter Springs.
Mrs. Grubb is a graduate of Miami High School with the Class of 1927, Northeastern A&M College at Miami, and Northeastern State University of Tahlequah. She taught school for five years at South and North Fairview Schools before becoming a beautician. She had a beauty shop of her own in Miami, starting in 1946, but she first went to work as a beautician in 1936. She retired from her beauty shop business at 108 A Street S.E. in Miami at the age of 82. Many of her patrons went to her for over 50 years.
She and her late husband reared their family on Highway 10, east of Miami. Both Sam and Linda attended the same country two-room grade school, Moccasin Bend No. 5, as Mrs. Grubb had attended as a child.
Mrs. Grubb was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Miami. She attended the First Christian Church in Baxter Springs the past nine years with the Binghams while residing at the Autumn Place there. She was a member of the Martin Sunday School class at Miami First Christian for over 50 years, well as a member of the Shepherdess program. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the NEO Travel Club.
Mrs. Grubb was a wonderful grandmother to four grandsons, Rusty Bingham and wife, Melanie, Jody Bingham and wife, Jenifer, Andy Bingham and wife, Mandy, all of Baxter Springs, Keeling Grubb and wife, Chloe, of southeast Miami and eight great-grandchildren, Taylor, SkyLeigh and Cassidy Bingham, Bayleigh and Brett Bingham and Madelynn, Hunter and Miranda Grubb.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 16, at the First Christian Church Chapel, Miami, with Rev. Leon Weece officiating.
Pallbearers were Coach Bob Robinson, Joe Kingrey, grandsons Keeling Grubb, Rusty Bingham, Jody Bingham and Andy Bingham.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund, 130 A N.E., Miami, Okla. 74354.
Arrangements were under the direction of Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Miami. Burial was in G.A.R. Cemetery.

HAL E. HAGGARD
GROVE - Graveside services for Hal E. Haggard, 79, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002 at Hickory Grove Cemetery with Minister Tracy Rowe officiating. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Ellis Funeral Home.
Mr. Haggard was born June 22, 1923 in Jay, Okla., to Jesse and Ret Haggard, and died Sunday, Sept. 22, at his home.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. He was married to Cleo Cook and she preceded him in death. He attended Valley College in Pomona, Calif., receiving vocational training in welding and supervision. He worked for Kaiser Steel in Fontana, Calif., for 29 years. He moved to Grove in 1974, and worked for Delaware County as a road foreman until his retirement in 1986.
He is survived by: a son, Jesse C. Haggard, of Rogers, Ark.; a daughter, Lori M. Hock of San Francisco, Calif.; a brother, Burl Lancaster of Jay; a sister; six grandchildren and his closest friend, June Charles.

DOYLE L. HALE
TULSA, Okla. - Doyle L. Hale passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at the Oklahoma Veterans Center.
He was born December 20 in Grove.
Survivors include: his wife, Patricia, of Tulsa, Okla.; his mother, Jewel Hale, of Grove; two daughters, Valerie McElroy of Parsons, Kan., and Lisa Vanderhofe of Mound Valley, Kan.; one son, Shannon Hale of Topeka; four grandchildren; one brother, James E. Hale, Jr., of Idabel, Okla.; and one sister, Sharon Hale of Tulsa.

ALLENE MARIE 'MICKEY' HANKINS
VINITA, Okla. - Allene Marie "Mickey" Hankins, age 63, of Vinita, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa following a long illness.
"Mickey" was born April 25, 1938 in Vinita to Woodrow Wilson and Mayme Allene (Coleman) Woodall. She attended Vinita Schools and worked as a seamstress with Vinita Flag and Apron for many years. She was a member of the First Church of God.
Mickey was married to Milton Hankins on December 29, 1956.
She was preceded in death by her parents and former husband.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sally Hallbauer and husband of Vinita; five sisters, Nancy A. Hill and husband, Pharis, of Cleora, Okla., Sandra K. Porter and husband, Bo, of Orange, Texas, Susan L. Buchanan and husband, Ken, of New Caney, Texas, Elizabeth Deane Johnson and husband, Gary, of Ponca City, Okla., and Patricia Y. Jewell and husband, Kent, of Orange, Texas; two brothers, Gary E. Woodall and wife, Mary, of Orange, Texas, and Robert C. Woodall and wife, Barbara, of Landers, Calif.; five grandchildren, Brian Hankins, Richard Hallbauer and wife, Lisa, Rebecca Bohannan and husband, Chris, Cherie Simms and Andy Hallbauer; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, February 21, at the Welch Cemetery in Welch, Okla. Rev. Eddie Wrinkle will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, at the Burckhalter Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Burckhalter Funeral Home.

PARK HAROLD HANSFORD
MIAMI, Okla. - Park Harold Hansford, age 89, of rural Miami, died Tuesday, February 12, 200 at Eastwood Manor after an illness.
Mr. Hansford was born October 12, 1912 in Missouri to Thomas Hardin and Lola Mae (Short) Hansford. He has lived in Ottawa County most of his life. He married Delphine Windle in April 1936, she preceded him in death May 19, 1994. A sister, Agnes Long, also preceded him.
Mr. Hansford was a retired truck driver having driven for Yellow Freight, Roadway, Frisco and Riss Trucking Companies. He was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Dale Epperson, Sr., of Miami; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Gaylen Nett, Sr., of Wichita, Kan.; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at noon Thursday, February 14, in the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami. Rev. Jerry Von Moss will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home in Commerce.
Pallbearers will be Dale Epperson Jr., Gregory Epperson, Michael Epperson, Gaylen Nett, Jr., and Mick Nett.

JUANITA L. HARDER
VINITA, Okla. - Juanita L. Harder, 60-year-old Vinita resident, passed away Monday, July 22, 2002 at St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa following an extended illness. Juanita was born February 10, 1942 in Centralia, Okla., to Loren Everett and Beulah Aline (Seals) Cook. She was a registered nurse and a homemaker. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Vinita and the Women of the Moose in Artesia, N.M. Juanita was united in marriage to Leonard Harder, Sr. on March 28, 1975 at San Barnardino, Calif. She and Leonard moved back to the Vinita area in July of 1995 from Artesia, N.M. He preceded her in death on Aug. 10 1998.
Her parents, one daughter, Lorna Kay Robinson, one sister, Loretta Hite, and one brother, Clarence Lee Cook also preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Brian K. Harder and wife, Sharon, of Vinita; Leonard B. Harder, Jr. and wife, Hope, of Vinita; five brothers, Cecil Cook of Riverside, Calif., Loren Cook of Redlands, Calif., Charlie Cook of Colton, Calif., Lawrence Cook of Rialto, Calif., and Carl Cook of San Barnardino, Calif.; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Harder, Timothy William Harder, Nicholas Harder and Kareena Taleese Harder, all of Vinita, and her host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 26, at the Fairview Cemetery, Vinita. Cecil Cook will officiate. Services are under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home.

FRED MORGAN HARDIN
JAY, Okla. - Commander Fred Morgan Hardin, U.S. Navy-Ret., 88, died Saturday, December 14, 2002, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., after a brief illness.
Commander Hardin was born on October 7, 1914, in Rigby, Idaho to Merlin Hardin and Melba Perry. He graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He married Ruth McCormick on September 28, 1937. She preceded him in death.
Commander Hardin retired in 1972 from the U.S. Navy after 30 years of service. He served during World War II in the Pacific and also served in Vietnam. He was very proud of his service in the Navy. He was a member of the Sea bees. He received service medals for World War II and Vietnam, the Bronze Star with a V Device for Valor and Presidential Unit Citation, among many other commendations.
Commander Hardin had lived in the Jay area for three years, coming from Wichita, Kan. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and, in the past was a member of the B.P.O.E.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Hardin Thornton and husband, Clinton, Jay; two sons, Charlie Hardin and wife, Brenda, Cookeville, Tenn. and Ralph Hardin and wife, Pamela, Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Margie Kimmerling, Gardnerville, Nev. Also surviving are five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruth, in 1999, one brother and two sisters.
Services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, December 16, at Worley-Luginbuel Chapel, Jay. Burial was in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
Services were under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay.

BESSIE VIOLA HARMON
WEST SILOAM SPRINGS, Okla. - Bessie Viola Harmon, 88-year-old resident of Colcord, Okla., died November 6, 2002 at Quail Ridge Nursing Home, West Siloam Springs. Born April 10, 1914 in Delaware County, she was the daughter of Thomas Price Sims and Linda Bryant Sims. She was a retired poultry inspector for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and was a member of Missionary Baptist Church of Colcord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan Harmon.
Survivors include: three sons, Donald L. Harmon of Maryland, and Delmar Harmon and James T. Harmon, both of Colcord; two daughters, Mary Lou Brown of Casper, Wyo., and Shirley Wilmoth of Colcord; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Lois Pebaworth of Oklahoma City, Okla.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 11, at Colcord Community Center with Rev. Ralph Walker and Mr. Larry Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Row Cemetery. Mrs. Harmon will be in state from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 10, with family present from 3 to 4 p.m., at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark. Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

BONNIE HARRINGTON
SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - Bonnie Harrington, 78-year-old resident of Siloam Springs, died August 23, 2002 at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. Born February 8, 1924 in Delaware County, Okla., she was the daughter of Everett Hughes and Maggie Steward Hughes. She was a long-time resident of Delaware County prior to moving to Siloam Springs. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Siloam Springs, and had worked for Allen Canning Company for 34 years before retiring.
Survivors include one son, Harold, of Siloam Springs; two grandsons, Mike Harrington of Siloam Springs and Timmy Goodeicky of Kansas, Okla.; and one sister, Anna Lou Sissom of Pampa, Tex.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 26, at Wasson Memorial Chapel with Eddie Davis officiating. Burial followed at Dickson Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday at Wasson Funeral Home. Arrangements were under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

ELSA S. HARRIS
CLINTON, Mo. - Elsa S. Harris of Clinton, Mo., formerly of Southwest City, Mo., passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2002. She was born April 27, 1908 in Southwest City to Andrew Jackson and Addie (Morrison) Sanders. She attended school at Southwest City, and college at Parson, Kan., and graduated as an accredited teacher. Elsa taught school for many years at Southwest City and was a member of the Southwest City Chapter #220 OES since 1926 (currently Anderson chapter #348 OES). After moving from Southwest City, she worked as a bookkeeper. Elsa enjoyed family history and was a great source of information for younger family members. She joined the Presbyterian Church, March 14, 1921. She was baptized February 11, 1911 by Rev. Gray.
Her husband, Clarence, passed away in 1997. Elsa was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Oscar, Omar, Herman, Harold, Glenn, and Dwight, and sisters, Ethel, Elledge, and Donna Capehart.
Survivors include: eight nieces; five nephews; many great-nieces, and great-nephews, and special friends Jim and Nadine Irvin.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, February 15, at the Presbyterian Church of Southwest City. Burial will follow in the Southwest City Cemetery.
A visitation will be held at the church before the service starting at noon. Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church.
The services are under the direction of the Ozark Funeral Home.
