SELY PHILLIPS
WATTS, Okla. - Graveside funeral services for Mr. Sely Phillips, 81, of Watts, were held Friday, October 18, 2002 in the Elm Cemetery at Leach, Okla.
Rev. Utah Humphrey officiated. Services were under the direction of the Key Funeral Home of Locust Grove, Okla.
Mr. Phillips was born on July 6, 1921 in Little Rock, Ark. He died on October 14 in West Siloam Springs, Okla.
The son of John and Ida (Hartley) Phillips, he grew up and attended school at Leach. He moved to California at an early age. He then returned to northeastern Oklahoma in the 1950's, living in the Leach and Watts area, before moving to West Siloam Springs in 1998. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include: Grace Smith of Leach, Mildred Smith and husband, Fred, of Leach, Lucille Smyth of Siloam Springs, Ark., and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

HAROLD EUGENE PHILPOTT
MAYSVILLE, Ark. - Harold Eugene Philpott, age 65, Maysville, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at Northwest Medical and Rehab Center in Springdale, Ark. Born on June 12, 1936 in Gentry, Ark., he was the son of Homer Lee Philpott and Jessie Louwima Pettitt Philpott. Mr. Philpott was a poultry worker for Peterson Farms and Southerland Farms for 15 years before retiring. He married Annabell Ward in Stilwell, Okla., on November 18, 1966.
Survivors include: his wife, Annabell, of the home; two sons, Richard Philpott of Siloam Springs, Ark., and Darrell Philpott of Maysville; one daughter, Wanda Fiorito of Noel, Mo.; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, March 22, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. March 23 at Maysville Bible Church in Maysville with Rev. Raymond Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Maysville Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of the Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

LLOYD PICKENS
GROVE - Lloyd W. Pickens age 84 of Grove, died Saturday November 23, 2002. The son of Walter A. and Anicee (Ledgerwood) Pickens, he was born on March 13, 1918 in Cambridge, Kan. Lloyd married Alma L. Wilson on August 6, 1949 in Cherryville, Kan. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army. He retired as a foreman for the Layton Oil Co. in Independence, Kan. His parents and a sister, Dorothy Pickens, preceded Lloyd in death.
Survivors include: his wife, Alma of the home; one daughter, Deborah Reed of Yukon, Okla.; a sister, Vera Jean Hancock in Chandler, Okla.; three grandchildren and 1one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, in the Lake Center Baptist Church with Reverend Kim Hayes officiating. The interment will be in the Rolston Cemetery with Veterans rites by the Grove Veterans Ritual Team. The services are under the direction of the Ellis Funeral Home in Grove.

ALMA J. PIERSON
GROVE - Alma Pierson, age 63, died Sunday January 6, 2002 at the Grove General Hospital. The daughter of Clyde and Alma Ethel (Starbuck) Lake, she was born October 28, 1938 in Price, Utah. Alma worked at several occupations including as a nurse, grocery store manager, and driving a truck with highly sensitive materials all over the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. She married Edwin L. Pierson on July 11, 1957 in Jackson Hole, Wyo. She was baptized as a Jehovah's Witnesses in September 1963.
Survivors include: her husband, Edwin Pierson, of Jay, Okla.; four children, Cynthia Carlson of Jay, Roger L. Pierson of Locust Grove, Okla., Donald L. Pierson of Vinita, Okla., and Jackie L. Stuart of St. George, Utah; two brothers, Arthur Lake in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Seth John Lake of San Antonio, Texas; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation for family and friends at the funeral home at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The memorial will be Thursday, January 10, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Jay. Private family burial will be at a later date. The services are under the directions of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.

CHARLES 'C.G.' PITTMAN
SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - Charles "C.G." Pittman, 80-year-old resident of Siloam Springs and the Northwest Arkansas area, died Saturday, March 9, 2002 at the Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born August 18, 1921 in Cave Springs, he was the son of Jess Lee Pittman and Edna Mae Bowles Pittman. Mr. Pittman was a World War II Army Veteran. He married Edna M. Garr March 2, 1941 in Tahlequah, Okla. C.G. was retired co-owner/operator of Pittman Auto Salvage in Siloam Springs, and a member of VFW, DAV and American Legion in Siloam. He was a charter member of Siloam Bible Church and attended Norwood Bible Church and the Galilean Church in Kansas, Okla.
Survivors include: his wife of 61 years, Edna Pittman of the home; one son, Charles Pittman and wife, Carolyn Ann, of Siloam Springs; two daughters, Carolyn Bilby and husband, Charles, of Siloam Springs, and Glenda Livingston of Siloam Springs; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Morris Pittman and wife, Joyce, of Siloam Springs; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mozell Daniels; and one great-granddaughter, Casey Lee Pittman.
Visitation will be Monday, March 11, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Wasson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Leighton Reed and Pastor Mike Whorton officiating. Burial will follow in Bell Cemetery.

ASHLEY NICHOLE PORTER
AKRON, Colo. - Ashley Nichole Porter, 18-years-old, was killed in a car accident on October 9, 2002. Ashley attended school in Joplin, Mo. and Grove before moving to Akron, Colo., where she was an active student at her high school. Ashley spent the past several years at Akron High School on the dance squad and basketball team. She was also an active member of the Four Square Gospel Church.
She was born on September 30, 1985 in Joplin, Mo. Ashley was a loving and compassionate young woman with a heart of gold. She was adored by her younger siblings and friends alike.
She is survived by: her mother and step-father of the home, Stacey and Dusty Ricker; one sister, Dusti Renae Ricker; two brothers, Brandon Porter and Garrett Ricker; her father, Carl Hunt, of Joplin; maternal grandparents, Pam and Paul Porter, of Grove, and Frances and Bill North of Diamond, Mo.; maternal great-grandmother, Grace Zarse, of Joplin; paternal grandmother, Sue Hunt, of Joplin; aunts and uncles, Kristi and Larry Middleton, of Grove, Carol and Eric Hunsperger, of Grove, Tina Porter, of Joplin, and Donna Porter, of Joplin; and many other loving family members.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 14, at the Four Square Gospel Church, under the direction of Brenner Funeral Home in Akron, Colo.

RYLIE ALESHAY POTTER
FAIRLAND, Okla. - Rylie Aleshay Potter, infant daughter of James Christopher and Joey Reene (Evans) Potter of Fairland, died at her home on Tuesday, February 19, 2002 due to injuries received at birth. Rylie was born in Miami, Okla., on July 21, 2001 and has resided in Fairland since her birth. She was dedicated at the Christ Church in Afton, Okla. on August 23, 2001. She enjoyed watching Veggie Tales, listening to music, swinging in her swing, and being loved by her family and friends.
Survivors include: her parents, James and Joey Potter of Fairland; grandparents, Allan and Debbie Brodrick of Fairland, Cheryl and Johnny Rhoten of Fairland, and Danny and Ronnie Potter of Longview, Texas; great-grandparents, Bill and Debbie Brodrick of Fairland, Carol Moore of Fairland, James and Carola Moore of Pryor, Okla., John and Candy Rhoten of Fairland, George and Francis Potter of Pryor, Howard Knox of Commerce, Okla., Lorin and Francis Gentry of Tulsa, Okla., and Mae Reich in Santa Clara, Calif.; numerous aunts and uncles; and godparents, Barbara Williams of Smithville, Mo., and Edward Gentry of Tulsa.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 22, in the Christ Church with Reverend Jerry Baser officiating. The interment will be in the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami. There will be visitation for family and friends at 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, in the funeral home. The services are under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

PERCY HOWARD PRATHER
GROVE - Percy Howard Prather, 93, of Grove, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002 at Monroe Manor Nursing Home, Jay, Okla. He is survived by one daughter, Dianne Makis, of Aurora, Colo., and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
Mr. Prather was born May 24, 1909 in Grove, one of 14 children of Howard Lee "Baxter" and Frances McGee Prather of Grove. Percy grew up in the Grove area and lived here until 1937 when he moved to Shaeffer's Crossing, Wyo., to work as a cowboy. During WWII he enlisted in the Navy, being stationed in the South Pacific on the USS West Virginia "bound for the destruction of the Japanese fleet" until the end of the war.
Mr. Prather returned to Denver until 1971 when he retired and moved back to Oklahoma to the Whitewater area. He was critically injured July 1, 1980 when a drunk driver hit his vehicle and spent the remainder of his life in residential care.
Graveside services will be at Buzzard Cemetery July 5 at 10 a.m. with Rev. D.R. "Bob" Prather officiating.
Services are entrusted to the Ellis Family Funeral Home, Grove.

CARVEN DALE PRAYTOR
VINITA, Okla. - Carven Dale Praytor, 40-year-old Vinita resident, died Tuesday, February 5, 2002 at his home.
Dale entered his earthly life on October 5, 1961 at Afton Memorial Hospital, Afton, Okla., to Lester and Carol Sue (Bowers) Praytor. He exited this life at 5:30 p.m. February 5 at his home after a battle of three years with cancer. Dale accepted Jesus as his savior on April of 1969. He was baptized April 20, 1969 and joined the Timber Hill Baptist Church.
Dale and Laqueta Woodard were married at the Timber Hill Baptist Church on March 7, 1979.
Survivors include: his wife, Laqueta, of the home; two sons, Joe Lester, and James Dale and wife, Amber, and one daughter, LaDonna and Trent Helms, all of rural Vinita; his father, Lester and Bonnie (McGhee) Praytor of Vinita; his mother, Carol Sue and Jim Beaver of Bartlesville, Okla.; one brother, James Russell Praytor of Vinita; three half sisters, Robin Kepler, and three children, Travis, Jo Lynn, and Ryan; Debra and Shawn Steffen and three children of Dewey, Okla.; Amy and Alfred Fletcher and two children of Vinita; step-brothers, John and Dennis Epperson, Paul Beatty, and Michael Bethea; step-sisters, LaDonna Beatty, Kelley Gump, Lisa Leader, and Glenda Madison; grandmothers, Mable Praytor and Violet Bowers; step grandmother, Golda McGhee all of Vinita; two special granddaughters, TKitha Dale Praytor and Stephannie Lyn Helms of Vinita; a very special cousin, David Anderson; and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his grandfathers, Ralph Praytor and Delbert Bowers, Sr., a sister, Tressa Renee Praytor, and a special cousin, Tonya Anderson.
Dale was employed at McSpadden's Care Wash for 11 years until he became ill. Dale liked to spend time camping, fishing, working on old cars, and riding motorcycles. Dale's number one love and dedication was his family. Dale and Laqueta always had their door open to friends and family that needed help.
Services were held Friday, February 8, at 11 a.m. at the Burckhalter Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bob Hensley officiating. Interment was in the Timpson Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cecil Woolman, Dusty Henderson, Tim Donner, John White, Brian and Michael Hatzenbuehler. Honorary pallbearers were Jeff King, and Todd Jones.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice at Craig General Hospital of Vinita.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Burckhalter Funeral Home in Vinita.

JOHN L. PRIBANICH
VINITA, Okla. - John L. Pribanich, 81-year-old rural Vinita resident, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2002 at the Rosewood Nursing Center following an extended illness.
John was born December 15, 1920 at Kowatin, Minn., to Matthew L. and Rose (Cappar) Pribanich. He graduated high school and served with the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He moved from California to the Vinita area in 1966.
John was united in marriage to Lila Thompson in December 1966 at Vinita.
Survivors include: his wife, Lila, of the home; one daughter, Lona June Vento and husband, Richard, of Nevada; one step-daughter, Carolyn Ann Simpson and husband, Howard, of Vinita; one son, Raleigh Pribanich and wife, Virginia, of California; two step-sons, Mike Lins and wife, Jane, of Bluejacket, Okla., and Tony Lins and wife, Barbara, of Vinita; one sister, Marie Beech of Sacramento, Calif.; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 4, at the Burckhalter Memorial Chapel. Rev. George Vaughn officiated. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were O'Neil Johnston, Chris Hicks, Tony Allensworth, Howard Simpson, Jamie Dixon, John Dixon, and Brandon Lins.
Graveside military rites were performed by the Grove Veterans Ritual Team.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Burckhalter Funeral Home.

REBECCA RUTH (BECKY) PRIER
SAND SPRINGS, Okla. - Rebecca Ruth (Becky) Prier, age 46, of Sand Springs, Okla., formerly of Commerce, Okla., and Miami, Okla., died Thursday, March 28, 2002 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla., after a brief illness.
Mrs. Prier was born July 13, 1955 in Miami to Fred L. and Marian E. (Farris) Jones. She grew up in the Commerce/Miami area, graduating from Miami High School in 1973. She went on to Missouri Southern College in Joplin, Mo., where she earned her BA Degree. She was a loving mother and homemaker and was a member of the Alpine Southern Baptist Church and the Gideon's Aux.
Mrs. Prier married Phillip Prier at Turkey Ford, Okla., on September 12, 1981. Together they moved to Sand Springs.
Survivors include: her husband, Phillip Prier, of the home; two sons, Gordon Prier of the home, and Brian Prier of Claremore, Okla.; a sister, Trish Price of Commerce; and three grandchildren, Katie, Samantha and Eric.
Her mother, father, and a brother, Lloyd Allen Jones, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 1, at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home in Commerce. Rev. Jerry Dobbs officiated. Burial was in the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home in Commerce.
Pallbearers were Gary Prier, Jason Kent, Mike Cupp, Gary Sharp, Gene Sharp, and David Glasscox.
