BURNITTIA ELIZABETH TURNER
COMMERCE, Okla. - Burnittia Elizabeth Turner, 86, of Commerce, died Monday, November 25, 2002, at the Eastwood Manor Nursing Center after an illness.
Mrs. Turner was born August 3, 1916, in New Orleans, La. She was raised by her foster parents, Elmer and Forna Miller. She has lived in Commerce most of her life.
Mrs. Turner was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Commerce, where she was a children's Sunday School teacher for 53 years.
Mrs. Turner is preceded in death by: her husband, Kenneth O. Turner; granddaughter, Bobbi June Sills; great-grandson, Delano Shouse; daughter-in-law, Patsy Turner; two brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include: three sons and their wives, Robert Lee and Judy Turner of Sperry, Okla., Kenneth William (Bill) and Pat Turner of Commerce and Harley and Wanda Turner of Miami, Okla.; one daughter, Annette Crosby and husband, Phil, of Commerce; two sisters, Elizabeth (Babe) Smith of Commerce and Claudius Conley of Lamont, Calif.; grandchildren and their spouses, Billie Wheeler of Tulsa, Okla., Jimmy Turner of Colorado Springs, Colo., Valorie and Mark McCammon of Pryor, Okla., Regina and Rick Snyder of Poteau, Okla., Lorri and Dennis Manning of Commerce, Julie East of Tiawah, Okla., Karen and Mike Meier of Baxter Springs, Kan., Cary and Willie Ng of Miami, Amy Turner of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Beth Turner of Oklahoma City; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, in the First Baptist Church in Commerce. Rev. Billy Bissell will officiate. Burial will be in the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce.

REV. CALVIN TURNER, SR.
JAY, Okla. - Rev. Calvin Turner, Sr., age 77, died Thursday, January 31, 2002 at Grove Nursing Center in Grove.
Rev. Turner, Sr. was born on August 13, 1924 in Delaware County, Okla., to Isaac and Mae (Gourd) Turner. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He married Betty Dinnis. She preceded him in death on September 1, 1998. Rev. Turner was a Baptist minister. He also worked as a printer for the Tulsa World Newspaper. He was a member of Sycamore Springs Baptist Church in Jay.
Survivors include: two sons, Calvin Turner, Jr. of Rogers, Ark., and Steve Turner of Jay; four daughters, Sue Martin and Jane Chewey, both of Jay, Debra Turner of Claremore, Okla., and Karen Compton of Dover, Okla.; one sister, Charlotte; 16 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Kenneth and Herbert Turner, one sister, Nancy Smith, and one son, Dale Turner.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, at Sycamore Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Sycamore Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, February 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.

OMAH LUCRETIA TURNER
NEOSHO, Mo. - Funeral services for Omah Lucretia Turner, 94, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002 at Adcock Funeral Home in Afton, Okla., with Rev. Jack Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Afton.
Pallbearers will be Henry Frellick, Phil Oakley, Charles Gibson, Doug Klaus, Elmer Joe Markes and Dean Fisher.
Mrs. Turner was born Oct. 28, 1907 in Barry County, Mo., to Green Berry and Emily Leah Hall Moore, and died Thursday, June 27, in Neosho.
She had worked as a seamstress for Barry Mfg. Co. of Miami, Okla., retiring in 1970. She had taught Sunday School classes for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Neosho.
She married Otis F. Turner Dec. 5, 1925, and he preceded her in death Dec. 27, 1994.
Survivors include a daughter, Freda Jones, and her husband, Jack, of Neosho; a sister, Pauline Johnson, of Afton; one grandson, Michael Jones; two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Austin Jones, four nephews and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Neosho building fund in care of the funeral home.

RUSTYE DYANE TURNER
Rustye Dyane Turner, infant daughter of Russell and Brandi Roach Turner, died at St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla. at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, February 24, 2002. She was born early Sunday morning.
Survivors include: her parents, Russell and Brandi Roach Turner; maternal grandparents, Patricia Rawlins of Fairland, Okla., and Rick and Tonya Roach of Fairland; paternal grandmother, Alice Turner of Quapaw, Okla.; maternal great-grandparents, Jack and Alta Morris of Fairland.
A graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, at Ottawa Indian Cemetery with Roland Adcock officiating. Arrangements are provided by Adcock Funeral Home in Fairland.

WILLIAM DAVID 'DAVE' TURNER
GROVE - William David "Dave" Turner, 52, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002 at Grove General Hospital after a sudden illness. Dave Turner was born on May 12, 1950 in Wetumka, Okla., to Robert and Harriet Elizabeth (Bryant) Turner. He graduated from Jenks High School and attended Northeastern Oklahoma College and Oklahoma State University. He married Judy Turner in Jenks, Okla., on Nov. 19, 1971. Mr. Turner worked in the electrical industry for 30 years, most recently as manager of Economy and Supply of Grove. He received numerous business and sales awards during his employment as well as numerous car show trophies.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, Grove; two sons, Zachary David Turner, Afton, and William Chancer Turner, Grove; one daughter, Sara Elizabeth Turner, Grove; his father, Robert Turner, Tulsa; one granddaughter, Caitlyn; two grandsons, Hunter and Braxton David; one brother, Robert Turner, Edmond; and one sister, Linda Campbell, Tulsa.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at First Baptist Church, Grove, with Dr. Robin Cowin officiating. Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

SUSIE TURTLE
OAKS, Okla. - Funeral services for Susie Turtle, 72, of Oaks, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at the Twin Oaks Baptist Church. Booley Forrest and Fox Blackfox officiated. Burial followed in the Blackfox Cemetery.
Susie was born October 28, 1929, in Kansas, Okla., to Toolate and Charlotte (Blackfox) Cochran. She died September 8 in her home.
Susie grew up and attended school in Delaware County. She later married Curley Turtle and made their home in Delaware County where she lived most of her life. She worked hard as a homemaker, making a home for her husband and children. In her spare time, Susie liked to sew, quilt, listen to Cherokee gospel and study God's word. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma and friend to all. Her loss is deeply felt by many who shared in her life. She was an active charter member of the Twin Oaks Baptist Church and was always involved in the church activities.
Survivors include: her husband, Curley Turtle, of the home; sons, Charlie Turtle of Oaks, David Turtle of Oaks, Tom Turtle of Kansas, and Ron Turtle of Oaks; daughters, Lena Rogers of Kansas and Ronda May of Plattsburg, Mo.; granddaughters, Brandi Turtle, Karla Welch, and Chaney Turtle; grandsons Chane and Dustin Rogers, Joe Turtle, and Kody Welch; great-grandchildren Taylor Armbrister, Kaden Rogers and Tamara Gilmore; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A son, Adam Turtle, a granddaughter, Tara Turtle, two sisters, four brothers, as well as her parents preceded her in death.

CAROLYN UHLEMEYER
GROVE - Carolyn Marie Uhlemeyer of Grove died Tuesday, November 26, 2002, at Betty Ann Nursing Center in Grove. She was 88.
Carolyn was born June 27, 1914, to Ludwig and Marie Eichholz. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Church in St. Louis, Mo., and a member of the Eastern Stars. She married Francis M. Uhlemeyer on April 19, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Survivors include: one daughter, Carolyn F. Bergman and husband, Bob, of Tucson, Ariz.; one son, Bob A. Uhlemeyer and wife, Margie, of Wyandotte, Okla.; five grandchildren, Pattie Reno, Stacey Holcomb, John Mings, Theresa Uhlemeyer and Robbie Uhlemeyer; three great-grandchildren, Nicole Reno, Andrew Reno and Elianna Holcomb.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 30, at the Sunset Cemetery at St. Louis, Mo. Pastor David Thompson will officiate. Services are under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

DR. J. ROSS UNDERWOOD
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Ross Underwood, 65, of Tahlequah passed away Wednesday, June 26, 3003. He was born September 5, 1936 in Grove to Grace and Jim Underwood. Ross graduated from Grove High School in 1954 and attended the University of Arkansas in 1955 and 1956. He went on to graduate from Northeastern State University (NSU) with a B.S. in Education in 1958 and a Masters in Teaching in 1961. Ross received his Ed.D. from the University of Oklahoma in 1966.
Ross taught and coached at Tahlequah and Chickasha High Schools. He later became director of guidance at Crooked Oak High School in Oklahoma City. For the next 32 years he taught as a professor of education at NSU, serving on numerous committees before retiring as Graduate Dean of the College of Education. Ross belonged to many civic groups and organizations: Cherokee Masonic Lodge #10, Tulsa Scottish Rite, Bedouin Shrine Temple, Elks Club, Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis Club, Tahlequah Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts of America, Tahlequah City Planning & Zoning Commission, Kappa Delta Phi, Phi Delta Kappa, U.S. Army Reserves, and the Oklahoma National Guard.
Ross is preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Jim Underwood, of Grove. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marilyn Underwood; two sons, Randy and wife, Debbie Underwood, and Mike and wife, Leigh Underwood; his daughter, Deena and husband, Steve Jones, all of Tahlequah; grandchildren, Lance Underwood, Megan Underwood, Alisha Underwood, Alan Underwood, Lynly Underwood, and Lauren Jones. He is also survived by one brother, Russell Underwood, of Grove, and in-laws, Truman and Jackie Justus of Tahlequah, as well as many friends and relatives. He enjoyed being with his family, playing the bass guitar, and watching sports.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Tahlequah and provided by Hart Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Ken Caughman, Bob Coop, Carl Farinelli, Bart Frank, Raymond Kirk, David Moore, John Phillips, and Larry Sisney. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Adams, Jim Brixey, Dan DeLoache, Darrell Dewoody, Charlie Galbraith, Lowell Lehman, Major McClure, Patrick O'Reilly, Lee Quiett, Lloyd Slagle, Robert Taylor, Roger Webb, and Al Williams.

ELIZABETH ANN UNRUH
GROVE - Elizabeth Ann "Lybbe" Unruh, 45, of Grove, formerly of Olathe, Kan., died 12:45 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2002, at her home.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, Kan., with Reverend Dick Weaver, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Grove, officiating. Interment was under the direction of Potts Chapel.
Memorials have been suggested to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund of Grove, and remembrances will be received at Potts Chapel, or may be mailed to Potts Chapel, P. O. Box 801, Independence, KS 67301.
Elizabeth Ann Unruh was born August 23, 1957, at Springfield, Mo., the daughter of Dick and Judy (Ellis) Hoover. She grew up and attended school in Wichita, Kan., graduating from Southeast High School in 1975.
On June 12, 1976, at Wichita, Kan., she was united in marriage to Bill Unruh, and he survives at the home.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Grove.
Survivors in addition to her husband include: two sons, Broc Unruh and Wade Unruh and two daughters, Ami Unruh and Molly Unruh, all of the home in Grove; her parents, Dick and Judy Hoover of Aurora, Mo.; her parents-in-law, Earl and Bobbie Unruh of Grove; one brother, Wynn Hoover and his wife, Sheila, of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Kathy Lowry and her husband, Steve, of Aurora, Mo., and Tami Hoover of Reeds Spring, Mo.; her maternal grandmother, Louise Ellis, of Richmond, Mo.; her paternal grandfather, Frank Foster, of Springfield, Mo.; grandmother, Lorene Unruh, of Independence, Kan.; a brother-in-law, Dave Unruh, and his wife, Marsha of Parker, Colo.; a brother-in-law, Mark Unruh, and his wife, Dee of Auburn, Neb.; and a special aunt, Marilynn Ellis of Richmond, Mo.

JoHELEN USREY
JAY, Okla. - JoHelen Usrey of Jay died Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at the Grove General Hospital in Grove. She was 55.
Jo was born February 6, 1947 to Joe Thomas Patterson and Ola (Mitchell) Blaine at Tulsa, Okla. She enjoyed making crafts and spending time with her family. Her father preceded her in death on June 1, 2001.
Survivors include: her son, Tony Usrey of Jay; her mother, Ola Blaine and stepfather, William, of Jay; one brother, Dr. Larry Wallace, of Vinita, Okla.; one grandson, Jacob Usrey, and two step-grandchildren, Lora Bowzer and Misty Bowzer; two nephews; Rodney Wallace and Eddie Wallace; one niece, Rhonda Kates; five great nephews, Colby Kates, Cory Kates, Tyler Wallace, Hunter Wallace, and Conner Wallace, and one great niece, Holland Wallace.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Friday, November 15, at the Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery with Dr. Larry Wallace officiating. Services under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.

COYE LANE VALLIERE
MIAMI, Okla. - Coye Lane Valliere, 86, of Miami died Thursday, January 10, 2002 at his home following an illness.
Mr. Valliere was born July 26, 1915 in Quapaw, Okla., to William Benjamin and Vida Lee (Brewer) Valliere. He returned to Miami from Buffalo, Kan., in 1994.
Mr. Valliere worked for Custom Electronics in Chanute, Kan., before retiring.
Survivors include: companion Roxie Easter of the home; two sons, William James Valliere of Anadarko, Okla., and Jon Warren Valliere of Pico Rivera, Calif.; daughter, Jackie Martin of Miami; brother, Wesley Valliere of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Joann Dupree of Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home of Miami.
Memorials may be made to the Regency Hospice, P.O. Box 1590, Miami, OK 74354.
