Johnston

Johnny Scott Johnston, 40, died Friday at Harmon County Memorial Hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Dodson, Texas Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Al Mixon officiating. Burial will follow at the Dodson Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 18, 1959 to Eugene Baily Johnston and Lillie Estelle Peden Johnston in Ardmore. He married Laura Ross on Sept. 26, 1981 in Plainview, Texas. He was a member of the National Guard and worked as a farm laborer. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his Laura and daughter, Kaeleigh of the family home; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Debbie and Ricky Thompkins of Hollis, Dorothy Sykes and Alma Durrett both of Lubbock, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Glenda Miller of Lubbock, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1982 and his mother, Lillie in 1995.

Livingston

Para M. Livingston, 81, Chickasha, formerly of Eldorado, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, in Chickasha. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Eldorado with the Rev. Dean Goodfellow and Jody Clayton officiating. Interment will follow at Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Livingston was born June 29, 1918, in Eldorado to William Walter and Mary Elizabeth Robinson Helms. She married Rex Livingston on June 20, 1934, in Eldorado. He preceded her in death May 15, 1984.

She had lived all her life in Eldorado until she moved to Chickasha in June of 1998. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Eldorado.

Livingston was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include: her children, Jean and Wayne Brown of Roswell, N.M., Rena and Stan Bulsterbaum of Deming, N.M., Connie and Lance Clayton of Colleyville, Texas, and Earl and Sharon Livingston of Chickasha; one sister, Effie Corley of Slaton, Texas; nine grandchildren, Scott and Connie Brown, Lance and Mary Brown, Chad and Heather Brown, Kary and Shellie Bulsterbaum, Karla Jo Bulsterbaum, Jody Clayton, Cody Clayton, Melissa Livingston, and Michael Livingston; four great grandchildren, Casey Paul Brown, Ethan Brown, Jordan Bulsterbaum and Jaylen Bulsterbaum.

McKee

Funeral services for Roi Leigh McKee, 32, Chattanooga, are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Chattanooga School Gymnasium with the Rev. Keith Edwin Wiginton and the Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick.

McKee died Wednesday morning, March 8, 2000, in an Oklahoma City hospital.

She was born Oct. 12, 1967, in Portales, N.M., to Roy and Johnanna Wilhoit Rush. She attended Clovis Public Schools, graduating from Clovis High School in 1985.

She and Randy C. McKee were married on March 15, 1986 in Clovis. She was a former Altus and Olustee resident. She attended Western Oklahoma State College, graduating in 1987.

In 1998, she and her husband moved to Chattanooga were he coached the boys baseball team.

In 1999, she graduated from Cameron University with a degree in computer science and was teaching computer classes at Western Oklahoma State College at the time of her illness. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chattanooga.

McKee was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Lowel Wilhoit and Alpheus Rush.

Survivors include: her husband Randy; two daughters, Randi Lenn McKee and Taylor Blake McKee, both of the home; her parents, Roy and Johnanna Rush, Longmont, Colo.; her maternal grandmother, Maxine Wilhoit, Portales, N.M.; her paternal grandmother, Mary Rush, also of Portales; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Tamara and Jerald Manasco, Clovis, N.M., Nikki and Mike Basart, Fort Collins, Colo. and Shawna Rush, Longmont, Colo.

Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Children's Diseases or to Mountain States Children's Home, Longmont, Colo. in her memory.

Milligan

Graveside services for Lee Gene Milligan, 73, lifelong resident of Tipton, are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Tipton Cemetery with the Rev. James Eubanks officiating. Services are under the direction of Frederick Funeral Home.

Milligan died Monday, March 20, 2000, in Altus.

He was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Tipton, to Robert Lee and Velma Sellars Milligan. He was employed by Dallas Airmotive and the City of Tipton. He and Hazel Williams were married on Aug. 13, 1955, in Vernon, Texas. She preceded him in death on Oct. 5, 1990. He attended the Assembly of God Church.

Milligan was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Cecil.

Survivors include: two sisters, Marie Kittrell of Tipton and Barbara Brooks of Missouri.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Research Association, 50 Court, Ste. 306-A, Brooklyn, NY 11201-4801.

Murphy

Cecil James Murphy, 87, longtime Elmer resident died Friday at English Village Manor Nursing Home. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Melvin Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmer Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

He was born July 6, 1913 at Noonday, Texas to Joe and Laura (Murray) Murphy. He married Sylvia Clarice Canada in 1939 in Elmer. She died in December of 1982. They made their home in Elmer since the 1940's. He worked for several farmers in Jackson County for many years. He also worked as a custodian at the Jackson County Courthouse and Altus Air Force Base. He was a longtime member of the Hess Baptist Church.

Survivors include five children, Sara Jo Swint and husband, Frank of Rex, Ga., Edith Duke and husband, Kenneth of Tipton, Anita Pair and husband, Eddie, James Murphy and wife, Julie and Sandy Callins and husband, Fred all of Altus; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother.

Oritz

Flores Ortiz, 48, died Monday . Services were held today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with Father Joseph Jacoby officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 11, 1952 in New Braunfels, Texas to Francisco and Margarita Castro Ortiz. He married Alvida Jaramillo Jan. 14, 1972 in Wellington, Texas. He worked as a farm laborer for Tommy Scott for ten years and lived in Hollis for 36 years.

Survivors include his wife, Alvida; two sons, Flores, Jr. of Goodwell and Steven of Hollis; a daughter, Angelica Ortiz, Hollis; his mother, Margarita Factor of Bracketville, Texas; eight sisters and four brothers-in-law, Elena Ortiz, of Apache Junction, Ariz., Adela Ortiz of Chickasha, Priscella and Pete Lopez of Crosbyton, Texas, Benita and Martin Baeza of Hollis, Ester and Victor Garcia of New Braufels, Texas, Angelica and Bob Daniels of Victoria, Texas, Eva Ali of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Maria Ortiz; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Felix and Lupe Ortiz, Frank Jr. and Maira Ortiz and Antonio and Lina Ortiz all of New Braufels, Texas.

Patterson

Jimmie V. Patterson, 74, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Hollis with Bob Garton officiating. Burial will be at Fairmont Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. today at Lunn's Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Visitation in Hollis will be held at Patterson-Greer Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday.

Patterson was born Sept. 21, 1925, in Paducah, Texas, to Cecil and Marie Christian Fillpot. She married Wayne N. Patterson on April 7, 1946. She had worked as an L.P.N. and was a member of the Jaycee Janes and the Oklahoma Nursing Association.

Survivors include: a son, Dale Garrett and his wife Donna; a daughter, Mary Beth Wagner and her husband David, all of Wichita Falls, Texas; a brother, Lynn Fillpot of Muskogee; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Powers

Irene Ferguson Powers, 93, Kennewick, Wash., died Friday, March 17, 2000. Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. March 31, 2000, at the Rockwell Family Cemetery in Weatherford.

Powers was born March 26, 1906, at her father's homestead near Avard. She was the last surviving sibling of eight brothers and sisters. The first in her family to get a college education, she taught in Oklahoma for 32 years.

She married Guy Powers on Aug. 27, 1925, in Weatherford. They taught school together and had a family of four children.

Preceding her in death are Phoebe Alice, age four, George Thomas, age 64, and her husband, Guy Powers, age 76.

She and her husband moved to Othello, Wash., in 1964, where they purchased and operated an orchard until their retirement in 1971.

They enjoyed traveling until his death in 1979. In the following years, she lived a full life.

In 1996, she moved to Kennewick and lived with her daughter.

She is survived by two children and their spouses, Bill and Barbara Powers, and Shirley and Joe Lucas. Also, seven grandchildren, Nancy Williams, Guy Powers, Lee Morris, Tom Powers, Greg Powers, Ed Powers and Elizabeth Powers and 16 great grandchildren, ages 17 to newborn.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. today at Mueller's Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union, in Kennewick.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, 2108 W. Entiat, Kennewick, Wash. 99336.

Reeves

Logan Marcus Reeves, Jr., 87, Topeka, Kan., died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at a Topeka health center. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Hope Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery under the direction of Penwell-Gable Mid Town Chapel.

Reeves was born Feb. 14, 1913, at Tarrant County, Texas, near Fort Worth, the son of Logan Marcus and Maude Mildred May Reeves. His family moved to Florida in 1918, returning to Fort Worth in 1925. They then moved to Altus where he was a graduate of Headrick High School and attended Altus Junior College.

Reeves came to Kansas from Altus in 1943, as manager of the Long Bell Lumber Company. He was active in his community as a member of the North Topeka Kiwanis Club and the North Topeka Merchants Association. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church.

He owned and operated Ben Franklin stores in North Topeka, Highland Park and Hiwatha, Kan. After the sale of Long Bell Lumber in 1958, and the sale of his stores, he spent his time at the remaining Highland Park store until 1966.

He operated three payment stations for utility bills. He was also credit manager for C.B. Karlin Furniture from 1967 until 1969 and Scott Glass Company in the early 1970s.

He married Harrasetta McMillon. They later divorced and he married Roberta Hutchison Carson on July 27, 1961. She survives her husband.

Other survivors include: one son, Gene Marcus Reeves, Sr., Topeka; one step daughter, Karen Carson-Morgan, Astoria, Ore., two step sons, Robert E. Carson, Topeka, and Rodney W. Carson, Lenexa, Kan.; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; and two sisters, Virginia Burns, Harlingen, Texas and Mary Sue Allen, Richardson, Texas.

Scruggs

Leamon Scruggs, 84, died Friday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services are scheduled 2:30 p.m. today at the Blair Cemetery with Sonny Tims officiating. Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

He was born Sept. 6, 1915 at Durant to Robert and Myrtle Robert Scruggs. He was a lifelong resident of Blair. He was a heavy equipment operator.

Survivors include two sons, Royce Scruggs and Ray Scruggs of California; a step-daughter, Rita Bowmann of Galveston, Texas and a sister, Francile McCombs of Blair.
