ROBERT HENSON
GROVE, Okla.-Robert Henson of Grove died Fri., July 3, 2003 at the Integris Grove General Hosp. in Grove. He was 86.
Mr. Henson was born Jan. 25, 1917 to S. C. and Dolly (Duffield) Henson at Jay, Okla. He was self-employed working various maintenance jobs around the area. He married Martha Henson July 23, 1945 at Jay, she survives of the home. Other survivors include one daughter, Phyllis Adams and husband Bill of Cabool, Mo. One brother, John Henson of Springfield, Mo. Two grandchildren, Ruth Ann Fry, and Jessica Adams. Two great-grandchildren, Ashlee and Andrew Fry. Other relatives include Andy and Judy Cantrell, Bob and Betty Epperson, Claude and Dorothy Angel, Mary Ann Adams, along with several nieces and nephews.
Services were 11:00 a.m., Mon., July 7, at the Grove Church of Christ with Rev. Doug Rainbolt officiating. Interment was at the Buzzard Cemetery in Grove. Services were under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove

Edwin James Heinen
Edwin James Heinen, 72 of rural Fairland, Okla. died Thursday, June 19, 2003 at his home in Fairland after an illness. Mr. Heinen was born December 17, 1930 in Okarche, Okla. to John and Mary Lorretta Higdon.
He lived in Fairland for the past 16 years moving here from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the Navy. Mr. Heinen was the district manager for the Social Security Administration for twenty-seven years retiring in 1986. He married Betty L. Welch in Tulsa, Okla. on June 1, 1977.
Survivors include his wife Betty L. Heinen of the home, a step daughter Cherie Smith of Tulsa, two brothers Gerald Heinen of Oklahoma City, Okla., Charles Heinen of Oklahoma City, Okla., and three sisters Martha Smith of Dallas, Texas, Dorothy Amacher of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mary Kay Rother of Oklahoma City, Okla., two grand children, and two great grand children also survive.
Funeral Mass will be recited at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2003 in the Holy Trinity Church in Okarche, Okla. Father Price Oswalt will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Okarche, Okla. under the direction of Guilford-Thomas Funeral Afton, Okla. Prayer Vigil will be Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Church in Okarche, Okla.

GARY WAYNE HICKS
Gary Wayne Hicks, 41 year old resident of Siloam Springs, Ark. died Saturday, September 27, 2003 at his home. Born January 4, 1962 in Miami, Okla., the son of Joe W. Hicks and Jose Villegas Carrasco. Gary had lived in Siloam Springs for the past ten years, moving here from Vinita, Okla., where he grew up. He was a former employee of Syroco in Siloam Springs.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, of the home; one son, Gary Wayne Hicks, Jr. of Florida; one daughter, Amanda Coleen Hicks of Florida; one step son, Brian Goodwin of the home, one step daughter, Holly Goodwin of the home; father, Joe Hicks and wife Betty of Vinita, Okla.; mother, Josie Carrasco of Gentry, Ark.; two brothers, Dan Hicks of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Casey Bennett of Vinita; three sisters, Denise Newport of Wichita, Kans., Vicki McAffrey of Monkey Island, Okla., and Deanne Smith of Bartlesville, Okla.; one uncle, Johnnie Hicks and wife Carol of Vinita; one aunt, Darlene Chew and husband Jim of Mustang, Okla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs, Ark. Cremation arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

JACK W. HICKS
AFTON, Okla. - Jack W. Hicks, resident of Afton, died at home Saturday, February 22, 2003, after a sudden illness. He was 72.
He was born to Robert and Eva Bruffet Hicks on Jan. 6, 1931, at Adenad, Colo. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. Jack was a retired baker, having worked for WonderBread of Tulsa. He lived in Afton for 40 years, and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by two sons Danny Hicks of Rock, Kan., and Paul David Hicks, of Arkansas City, Kan.; a daughter Karen, and husband Robert Moore, of Wichita, Kan.; a sister Louise Keener, of Galena, Mo.; two nephews Albert Hicks and Richard Hicks, both of Wichita; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Imogene Church, of Afton. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Adcock Chapel in Afton with Bro. James Wethey officiating. Pallbearers will be Romine Davis, Bobby Braden, Pete Braden, James Braden, Steve Bruner, and Mike Lawson. Burial will follow at Sixkiller Cemetery under the direction of Adcock Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday, at Adcock Funeral Home. Arrangements provided by Adcock Funeral Home of Afton.

LEROY G. HILLIARD
Wyandotte, Okla. - Leroy G. Hilliard, 80, died Saturday, November 29, 2003 at his home in Wyandotte. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at Council House Cemetery with Darwin King officiating. Masonic rites will be performed by the Grove Masonic Lodge #187. Family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2003 at Ellis Family Funeral Home, Grove.
Leroy Glen Hilliard was born on August 7, 1923 in Ottawa County, Okla., to Robert E. and Norma (May) Hilliard. He married Maxine Lagers on August 30, 1945. Mr. Hilliard worked as a farmer and a carpenter during his lifetime. He was a member of the Council House Friends Church. He was a past member of the Lost Creek Promenaders. He held dual membership in Grove Masonic Lodge #187 and the Frisco Masonic Lodge in Fairland. He became a Master Mason on December 14, 1956 and was the Worshipful Master in Grove in 1965, 1976, and 1992, and in Fairland in 2003.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine of Wyandotte, four daughters, Jerry Penner and husband, Larry of Jay, Janet Owens and husband, Bill of Seymour, Miss., Jenean Roberts and husband, Rick of Jay, Janiece Ford and husband, Dave of Nixa, Miss., one son Larry Hilliard of Grove; one brother, Clyde Hilliard of Wyandotte; three sisters, Bessie Simmons of Neosho, Miss., Elsie Jones of Wyandotte and Ruth Gray of Yakima, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Mark Penner, Joanna Foss, Darlene Kanel, Laura Wilkie, Megan Roberts, Robert Branch, and Leroy Branch; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Chad Penner, three brothers and three sisters.
Memorial contributions my be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.

IMOGENE CHRISTIBEL SMITH HOLLAND
MAYSVILLE, Ark. - Imogene Christibel Smith Holland died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at the age of 90 years, one month and 21 days, in Gravette, Ark.
Imogene Holland was born on January 31, 1913, near the Mt. Hermon community in Delaware County, Okla., to William Levi and Lucretia Tilden Smith. She went to school and lived in the Mt. Hermon area until she married Portus Holland in 1933. At that time, she moved to the Holland family farm 1-1/4 miles north of Maysville, where she lived until her death. To this union were born two sons, Gerald and Kenny.
Imogene worked beside her husband on the family farm and was an avid gardener. She loved sharing her flowers and vegetables with her family and friends. She was a member of the Maysville Missionary Baptist Church and a charter 4-H leader for the Maysville 4-H Club. She was also active in the Maysville Home Demonstration Club.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Myrna Holland of Maysville; grandchildren, Shane Holland and wife, Terri of Zena, Okla., Derek Holland and wife, Sarah of Bluffton, S.C., Tom Layton and wife, Lecia of Lowell, Ark. and Jennifer Andrews and husband, Dale of Grove, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Chance and Micah Holland of Zena, Kelsey Layton of Lowell, Emily Andrews of Grove and Luke Holland of Bluffton; one sister, Christine Hardy of Southwest City, Mo.; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Mrs. Holland was preceded in death by her husband, Portus, one son Gerald, parents, three sisters Winnie Smith, Eva Fullerton and Lena Potter.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 24, in the Maysville Missionary Baptist Church, with Raymond Scott officiating. Burial followed in the Maysville Cemetery. No visitation was planned, as requested by Imogene.
A memorial has been established in Imogene's name at the Maysville Missionary Baptist Church. Donations may be made to Jack Netherton, Treasurer, Maysville Missionary Baptist Church, Maysville, AR 72747.
Services were under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay.

Era Jane Hoodenpyle
Era Jane Hoodenpyle, 92 year old former Big Cabin resident, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003 at Claremore Nursing Home in Claremore, Okla.
Jane was born April 16, 1911 in Adair, Okla. to Ottie Dye and Ethel (Brown) Dye. She was a lifetime area resident, a home maker and a member of the Apostolic Life Tabernacle in Vinita. Jane was untied in marriage to Ernest Hoodenpyle in 1935 at Chouteau, Okla. They spent most of their married life on a farm in Big Cabin before moving to Chelsea. Ernest preceded her in death on August 21, 1976.
Her parents, two sons, one daughter, three sisters and one brother also preceded her in death. Surviving family members include: three daughters; Pearl Rose of Claremore, Vivan Breshears and husband John of Chelsea, Betty Most and husband Allen of Kansas City, Mo. three sons; Lloyd Cunningham and wife Dottie of Sacramento, Calif., Ernie Hoodenpyle and Wife Doris of Big cabin, Okla. Wayne Hoodenpyle and wife Sue of Dallas, Texas, three sisters; Vera Newkirk and Daisy Pitts both of Vinita, Evelyn Kincaid of Claremore, twenty-two grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 25 at the Apostolic Life Tabernacle (located at the corner of Miller and Sequoyah streets). Rev. Michael Jackson will officiate assisted by Rev.. Eddie Wrinkle Interment will be in Dawes Cemetery in Chelsea
Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Hoodenpyle, Rickey Hoodenpyle, Wesley Most, Edward Cunningham, Mike Breshears and Hoby Troglin. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 24 at the Burckhalter Funeral Home. Service are under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home.

MARY EMALINE HOODENPYLE
VINITA, Okla. - Mary Emaline Hoodenpyle, 95 year old long time Vinita resident, passed away Wednesday morning, November 26, 2003, at Craig General Hospital.
She was born October 12, 1908, to Martin Monroe and Winnie Elizabeth (Bilyeu) Karr in Cole County, Mo. Mary was a nurse's aide at the former Autumn Homes Nursing Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge.
Mary married John Lemuel Hoodenpyle on November 26, 1926, at Vinita. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1974.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Colleen Hoodenpyle of Vinita; a daughter Norma Hamilton of Tulsa; four sisters, Erma VanEvery of Plattburg, Mo., Freda VanEvery of Miami, Okla., Alice Potts of Arvada, Colo. and Frances Chedister of California; a brother Emmett Karr of Whittier, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, four brothers and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29, at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church with Dr. Henry Haynes and Dr. Larry Wallace officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 28, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be made to the First Baptist Church W.M.U. group in her name.
Services are under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home, Vinita.

MOREE HOWARD
FAIRLAND, Okla. - Moree Howard, resident of Fairland, died early Sunday, February 23, 2003, after a lengthy illness. She was 89. She was born Oct. 7, 1913, at Kirkland, Texas, to Joe and Laura Meece. She married Leo Howard and was a housewife. Her husband preceded her in death. She lived in Odessa, Texas, for about 45 years and was an avid bridge player, having attained a Life Master rating. She moved to the Fairland area about nine years ago. She is survived by two sons Jimmy K. Howard and wife, Carolyn, of Afton, and Richard (Mickey) Howard and wife, Helen, of Ft. Worth, Texas; three sisters Jackie, Bobbie, and Inza; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She has been cremated and no services are planned.

TOMMIE RICHARD HOWELL
BERNICE, Okla. - Tommie Richard Howell, 72, of Bernice, died Monday, March 17, 2003 in Tulsa, Okla. after an illness. Mr. Howell was born July 15, 1930 in Douthat, Okla. to Tom H. and Fannie B. (Jenkins) Howell. He lived in Ottawa most of his life before moving to Bernice 15 years ago. He was an Army veteran and member of the Bernice V.F.W. and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Howell owned and operated Mistletoe Express until 1988, then he went to work for Arkansas Freight Ways retiring in 1996. Mr. Howell married Betty Jane (Petty) Meaghers in Miami, Okla. on February 11, 1955. She preceded him in death on March 1, 1996. A son, David Howell, also preceded him on April 8, 1994.
He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Dana Howell Childress of Tulsa; grandson, Jason Howell of Tulsa; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Joann Howell of Miami; niece, Dana Howell Bowers of Sapulpa, Okla.; and nephew, Steve Howell of Wyoming.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 20, at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home Miami. Rev. Jerry Von Moss will officiate. Burial will be in the Bluejacket Cemetery in Bluejacket, Okla., under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.

ROY ARTHUR HUGHES, SR.
GROVE, Okla. - Roy Arthur Hughes, Sr., 87, died October 9, 2003, at Integris Grove General Hospital in Grove.
Mr. Hughes was born on September 1, 1916 to Clarence Wesley and Mable Frances (Drinkwater) Hughes in Delaware County, Okla. Mr. Hughes was a life-long resident of the Delaware County area. He grew up and married Iola Burton on September 25, 1936 in Jay, Okla. He spent his life farming.
Mr. Hughes is survived by five daughters Martha Martino and her husband Bob of Jay, Ina Hughes of Lancaster, Calif., Opal Bryant and husband Lewis, Patricia Matthews and Pam James, all of Jay; one son Roy A. Hughes, Jr. and wife Jean of Jay; five sisters Bertha Beck of Shamrock, Texas, Dorothy Burton, Helen Stelle, Vita Morrison and Gladys Wilkins, all of Jay; and two brothers Fred and Ray Hughes of Jay; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers Clarence Leslie and Dow Lester Hughes.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 13, at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Goldner officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
Services were under the direction of Turner Funeral Chapel, Jay.

MAHLON HUMES
GROVE, Okla. - Mahlon Humes of Grove died Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at the Grove Nursing Center. He was 83.
Mahlon was born August 21, 1919 to Ralph and Adeta Humes at Joplin, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 383rd Anti-aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion. he operated a service station in Joplin, Mo. and Miami, Okla. for several years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leva Humes in 1993 and one son, Michael Humes in 2002.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Lish of Laguna Beach, Calif.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 6, at the Independent Baptist Church in Grove with Rev. Ray Melugin officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City, Mo.
Services are under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

GRETTA G. HUNDLEY
GROVE, Okla. - Gretta G. Hundley, 73, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at her home in Grove. The daughter of Charles Robert and Laverne Edith (Large) Douglas, she was born in DeSoto, Kan. on November 16, 1929. Gretta married Bill L. Middleton in 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1957. She later married R.J. Hundley who was the Police Chief in Prairie Village, Kan. They retired to Grove in 1983 where she loved fishing and crocheting.
She is survived by four children, Michael Middleton and wife, Henrietta in Salinas, Calif., Linda Clapham and fiancée, Mike in Olathe, Kan., Mark Middleton and wife, Rebecca in Eureka Springs, Ark. and Ruth Sperry and husband, Jack in overland Park, Kan.; one sister, Leta W. Bazo in Florida; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 27, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society. Services were under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.
