SHIRLEY JEAN MITZNER
Shirley Jean Mitzner, 62, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at Integris Grove General Hospital.
Shirley Mitzner was born on August 29, 1940 in Ft. Scott, Kan. to Hue Potter and Eva (Greer) Stewart. She attended Ft. Scott Schools and Johnson County Community College. She married John Mitzner in Ft. Scott on March 28, 1959. Mrs. Mitzner was employed as a Lab Tech at Abbott Laboratories in Lenexa, Kan. for twenty-seven years. Upon her retirement in 1990, she moved with her husband to Grove where she worked in the Surgical Department of Grove General Hospital until 1999.
Survivors include her husband, John of Grove; two sons, Morgan Mitzner of Grove and Army Sergeant First Class Mark A. Mitzner of Ketchum, Okla.; one daughter, Melissa Thompson and her husband, Rocky of Grove; seven grandchildren, two sisters, Elizabeth Shannon and her husband George of Ardmore, Okla. and Margaret Wheatherbie of Ft. Scott; three sisters-in-law, Gail Potter and Pat Smith both of Ft. Scott, and Lucille Smith of Shawnee, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 21 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Talle' officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.

NANNIE MOFFER
Jay, Okla. - Nannie Moffer, 85, died Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at Integris Grove General Hospital.
Nannie Moffer was born on August 28, 1918 in Wetumka, Okla.. to Waitie Moffer and Victoria (William) Halstead. She was married to Binton Shook. He preceded her in death. She had lived in the Jay area since 1999 moving from Perryton, Texas. She was a member of the Creek Nation.
Survivors include her children, Nannie Victoria Owens and husband, Larry of Perryton, Texas, Douglas McArthur and wife Anna of Jay, Kenneth David Clay of Fayetteville, Ark.; two brothers, Joe Kampplain and wife Margie of Oak View, California, J. B. Kampplain and wife Ruth of Norman, Okla.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Jack McArthur.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October, 11, 2003 at Wetumka Cemetery in Wetumka.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove.

RACHEL LOUISE MONTGOMERY
SOUTHWEST CITY, Mo. - Rachel Louise Saffle Clark Montgomery, 97, of Southwest City, died Monday, January 27, 2003, at 12:55 a.m., at Neosho-Freeman Hospital in Neosho, Mo., after an illness. Rachel Montgomery was born on July 1, 1905 at Fallis, Okla. to the late Harmon and Flora Ethel (Tea) Saffle. She attended school at Fallis and Siloam Springs, Ark. She moved to Southwest City in 1923. She was a member of the Southwest City First Baptist Church in Southwest City. She married Edward Clark in April of 1923, and to this union were born three children, Frances, Lucy and Willis. Mr. Clark was killed in a tractor accident in August of 1951. On December 1, 1971, Rachel married Victor Montgomery. He died in September of 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Hazel Fern Teel, and one brother, Forrest E. Sappington.
She is survived by: one son, Willis Clark and his wife, Lavon, of Nevada, Mo.; two daughters, Frances Gould, of Fairview, Okla. and Lucy Smith of Southwest City; a step-daughter, Barbara J. Fry and her husband, Forrest, of Southwest City; one sister, Charlene North, of Southwest City; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Rachel Montgomery will be held on Wednesday, January 29, at the First Baptist Church in Southwest City. Reverend Ray Clanton will officiate. Burial will be in the Southwest City Cemetery in Southwest City. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Robert E. Smith, Steven Clark, Jim Clark, Edward T. Gould, Marvin L. Gould and Garold Dewitt.
Visitation for Rachel Montgomery will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 12 noon until 7 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Southwest City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southwest City First Baptist Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.

SHIRLEY ALICE MONTGOMERY
JAY, Okla. - Shirley Alice Montgomery passed away January 27, 2003. She was born on August 11, 1935.
Ms. Montgomery is survived by two brothers Art Keith, of British Columbia, Canada and Jasper Keith, of Oregon; two sisters Grace Daniels of Jay, Okla. and Lucille Boyd, of Penn.; three children Patty Jo Hutchinson, of Umpgua, Ore., Leona Crager of Sutherland, Ore., Charles Blake, of Eureka, Calif.; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two special nieces Dora Ratzlaff and Donna Williams, of Williams, Ariz.; many nieces and nephews; and many true friends and brothers and sisters in Christ. Interment was at Mt. Hermon Cemetery, Jay.

HOWARD C. MORELAND
AFTON, Okla. - Howard C. Moreland, 86, died Sunday, April 27, 2003 at his home in Afton.
Howard was born on May 18, 1916 to Isaac Wesley and Marry (Johnson) Moreland in Allowee, Okla. He graduated from Eureka High School, Eureka, Kan. He was a Civil Engineering graduated from Kansas Univ. He was a captain in the Army during WWII. On April 6, 1947, he married Mary Joline Stewart in Carlsbad, N.M. Mr. Moreland was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. for 35 years as a Civil Engineer. His overseas work for Phillips included work in Puerto Rico, West Africa, England and Germany.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Joline Moreland; two sons, Thomas Wesley Moreland and wife, Ann, and Gerald Vance Moreland and wife, Sue; five grandchildren, Gary Vance Moreland, Angela Dawn Moreland, Alysia Beth Moreland, Kristen Walz and Katy Walz; one niece, Karen Bilbo. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Julie Catherine Moreland.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wed., April 30 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Hamill officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m., Wed. at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa. Visitation was held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Tues., April 29 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

COLLEENE E. MORGAN
Colleene E. Morgan, 75 year old Vinita resident, passed away Mon., July 7, 2003 at Craig General Hospital in Vinita. Colleene was born Apr. 28, 1928 at Okla. City, Okla. to Milo Kennell and Estelle (Frayer) Kennell. She was retired from Eastern State Hospital and was preceded in death by her husband Bill Morgan.
Surviving Family members include: two daughters, Connie S. Johnson of Vinita, Pamela R. Griffith of Vinita, two sons, Robert W. Ramseyer and Ray D. Ramseyer both of Vinita, seven step-children, Linda Diane Mandeville, Nancy Jane Dooley, Edna Louise Lawson, Katherine Ann Stewart, Patricia Gayle Dodge, Leanne Jean Sturgeon, James Calvin Rame, six grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Fri., July 11 at the Fairview Cemetery. Rev. Henry McClain will officiate. The family will receive friends at the home of Robert Ramseyer, 820 N. Scraper St. following the services. Services are under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home.

RONNIE L. MORGAN
Ronnie L. Morgan, 50, died Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri after a short illness.
Ronnie Morgan was born on August 9, 1953 in Southwest City, Missouri to Melvin and Shirley (Tanner) Morgan. He graduated from Jay High School and worked as a foreman for KM Construction for twenty years. He was a member of Delaware Baptist Church in Grove. Ronnie was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and bicycling.
Survivors include his parents, Melvin and Shirley Morgan of Jay; two daughters, Whitney Morgan of Jay and Chassidy Creel of Denver, Colorado; one son, Chance Johnson of Jay; his brothers and sisters, Kenny Morgan of Grove, Linda Dry of Jay, Pam Teague of Jay; Irene Snow of Ark City, Kansas, Anthony Morgan of Jay, Cyndi Threlkeld of Grove and, Barry Moulton-Morgan of Jay. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Robbins in 1999.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2003 at Delaware Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Bishop officiating and Rev. Chester Crittenden assisting. Burial will follow at Zena Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma.

DEXTER MOSS, JR.
William Dexter Moss, 87, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at Joplin, Missouri.
Dexter was born on November 15, 1915 to William Dexter Sr. and Edna (Riggs) Moss at Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was graduated from Central High School in 1933. He studied architecture at the University of Oklahoma where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Dexter proudly served his country as an Army Captain in World War II, stationed at Galveston Island, Texas and the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. Upon his return from the service, he entered the family business begun by his father, Dexter Publishing Co., publishers of the Tulsa Daily Legal News, later becoming owner and publisher. After retirement he developed Cherokee Grove Golf Course and Quail Run Estates in Grove, where he also bred and raised Limousin cattle. Dexter was an avid sportsman, enjoying duck hunting, fishing, boating and golf. He was a member of the Shangri-La Country Club on Monkey Island and Bonita Bay at Bonita Springs, Florida. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly of Monkey Island, Oklahoma; his children, Dexter Moss III of Tulsa and Nancy Chrisenbery and her husband, Jack of Broken Arrow. Grandchildren: Lisa Patterson of Tulsa, John Moss of Verdigris and Scott Pool of Tulsa. Seven Great grandchildren. One stepson, Bill Jackson and wife, Norma of Miami; stepdaughters, Sandra Greer of Monkey Island and Deborah Creel and husband, Joe of Flora, Mississippi; step grandchildren, Billy, Kat, and Lindsay Jackson of Miami, Seth Greer of Monkey Island, Angela Hulsey of Miami, Caleb and Joseph Creel of Flora, Mississippi.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 6, 2003 at the Lake Center Baptist Church with Rev. Kim Hays officiating. Burial will follow at Rolston Cemetery. The Grove Veterans Ritual Team to conduct military rites at the cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lake Center Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.

CECILIA M. MRAZ
GROVE - Cecilia M. Mraz, 76, died Monday, January 13, 2003 at Grove General Hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday January 17, at Ellis Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dick Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at Olympus Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, January 16, at the funeral home.
Cecilia Maria Mraz was born on March 29, 1926 in Chicago, Ill. to Robert and Svea (Anderson) Carlson. She married Charles Mraz on May 20, 1966 in Chicago. She worked as an executive secretary for Alcoa Aluminum for 35 years. Mrs. Mraz was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Grove Garden Club for 10 years, serving as secretary. She moved to Grove in 1979 coming from Dalton, Ill.
Survivors include: her husband, Charles, Grove; two sisters, Elaine Cameron and husband, James, Grandby, Conn. and Phyllis Brece, Lemont, Ill.; two brothers, Marvin Johnson, Memphis, Tenn., Anord Johnson, Lake Worth, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Pat Carlson, wife of the late Robert Carlson; one stepson, Charles Mraz and wife, Tina, Madison, N.C.; three stepdaughters, Roberta Oemige, Phoenix Ariz., Donna Smith and husband, Jim, Fairfield Tenn., Colleen Bosco and husband, Lucio, Italy. Also surviving are six step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Carlson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The First United Methodist Church Choir, Grove.
Services are entrusted to Ellis Family Funeral Home, 107 S. Broadway, Grove.

WILLIAM (BILL) J. MULLIN
MUSKOGEE, Okla. - William (Bill) Mullin, long time Afton resident, died at the Muskogee VA Medical Center on December 4, 2003, after a lengthy illness. He was 73.
He was born July 16, 1930, to Bud and Nellie Greenlee Mullin, at Zincville, Okla. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 to 1950. He was a miner and electrician. He last worked for Green Thumb and Associates at the Afton Housing Authority.
He married Betty O'Dell at Miami on March 8, 1965. They moved to Afton in 1973, coming from Picher.
He is survived by his wife Betty of the home; a son David and his wife Lorena Mullin, of Afton; a daughter Betty Jane and her husband Kenneth LaHue of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother Vearl Wayne Mullin of Afton; a sister Betty Mae Gehring of Oolagah; nine grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy, Dicky and Harold and a sister, Margaret.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Monday, December 8, at Adcock Funeral Home in Afton with Rev. Wendel Brown officiating. Burial will follow at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami. The American Legion Post #147 Veterans Funeral Detail will perform military rites at graveside. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Hargis, Johnny Langley, John Mullin, Larry Mullin, Mike McBride and Robert Colson.
Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, December 7, from 4 to 5 p.m. at Adcock Funeral Home, Afton.

MILDRED MURPHY
NEOSHO, Mo. - Mildred Murphy, 86, died Monday, January 20, 2003 at Freeman Health Systems in Neosho. Mrs. Murphy was born on June 24, 1916 in Tennesee, Ill. to Elvin and Blanche (Armour) Westervelt. She married Lester Murphy in 1936 at Oswego, Kan. He preceded her in death in 1981. Mrs. Murphy lived in Altamont, Kan. until 1979 when she moved to Grove. During World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, she worked in the army ammunitions plant in Parsons, Kan. She was most proud of being a farmer's wife, mother and grandmother and member of the Gospel Gals. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Grove.
Survivors include: two sons, Lester Murphy Jr., Topeka, Kan., and Jerry Murphy, Belton, Mo.; a daughter, Judith Manhatton, Neosho; two sisters, Darlos Aldrich and Norma Phillipy; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother Dale Westervelt. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 23, at the First Christian Church, Grove. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Altamont, Kan. Services are under the directon of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

SALLIE T. MURPHY
MIAMI, Okla. - Sallie T. Murphy, 91, of Miami, died Monday March 10, 2003 at Eastwood Manor Nursing Center after an illness.
Miss Murphy was born March 31, 1911 in Berryville, Ark. to Sam and Vannie (Baker) Murphy, she has lived in Miami most of her life. She was a graduate of Wyandotte High School.
Miss Murphy was the owner of Sallie's Beauty Nook in the Coleman Theater building for many years. She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Miami.
A brother Jay Murphy, two sisters Ruby Murphy and Marie Murphy Wheeler, preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one sister, Hazel Murphy of rural Miami; one niece, Susan Wheeler of rural Miami; and one nephew, James Wheeler of Joplin, Mo.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday March 13, at the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami. Gary Reed will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
