She will be missed by all her family and all others that have had the pleasure of meeting her. My grandmother was never famous nor did she want to be, but to all of us she was. She told me once that she has no regrets and her biggest accomplishment in life was her family. If you ever had the honor of meeting her then she touched you also and you would always remember her. Never did she have an ugly thing to say about anyone. She was taken away from her family at a young age and put in a boarding school for Indian children, never being allowed to speak her own language again. She learned how to read and write hiding under a staircase, trying not to be seen reading her little books. After years of being there, she started her own family.
She took care of five children during WW II and all of us there after. She lost one son, Bonner McLendon in 1946 and one daughter Corinee Kane in 1989 and two son-in-laws. She never stopped looking on the bright side of life. She was a remarkable woman. We would have loved for her to stay with us, but it was time for her to go. I know we will all see you again, so until then we miss you and we love.
