D.A. WILSON
D.A. Wilson, 89, died Thursday, June 19, 2003 at his home in Grove. Services are pending.
D.A. Wilson was born on January 27, 1914 in Bluejacket, Okla. to Mr. & Mrs. Elgin D. Wilson. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United State Army. He was married to fern Schweitzer. Mr. Wilson was a farmer most of his life. He moved to Grove in June, 1973 from Anadarko, Okla. He was a member of Grove First Untied Methodist Church, past member of the Lions Club in Anadarko and a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Fern of Grove, one daughter, Donna Tanner and her husband, Robert of Grove; one son, Larry Wilson and his wife, Jean of Bristol, Wis.; one sister, Claretta Milford of Edmond; four grandchildren, Cristy Tanner and Allen Tanner both of Grove, Adam Wilson of New Orleans, La. and C.J. Wilson of Chicago, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Services are entrusted to Ellis Family Funeral Home, 107 S. Broadway, Grove.

ORA IRENE HAGAR WILSON
COLCORD, Okla. - Ora "Irene" Hagar Wilson, 84-year-old resident of Colcord, died Jan. 27, 2003, at Quail Ridge Living Center, West Siloam Springs, Okla. Born June 1, 1918 in Decatur, Ark., she was the daughter of Othor Londagin and Sadie Owenby Londagin. She was a housewife and cook for Colcord Public School. She attended Colcord Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by husbands Jay Hagar and Floyd Wilson. She is survived by: one son, James "Sonny" Hagar of Jay, Okla.; two stepsons, Junior Wilson and Jim Wilson, both of Gentry, Ark.; one daughter, Lana Hurt of Colcord; one stepdaughter, Mary Jane Pruitt of Siloam Springs, Ark.; two grandchildren, Tresa Malam of Independence, Mo. and Brandi Taylor of Colcord; numerous step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Reba Swicegood of Colcord; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, at Draper Community Center in Colcord, with Mr. Larry Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Row Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 29 at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs. Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

RUTH WILSON
JAY, Okla - Ruth Martin Wilson, 86, died Saturday, December 20, 2003 at her residence.
Ruth Wilson was born December 3, 1917 in Weber Falls, Okla. to Jeff Martin and Nora Garrison Martin. She married George A. Wilson July 14, 1940 in Pine Bluff, Ark. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1976. Ruth had resided in Jay since 1940 and was a teacher, legal secretary and postal worker. She was a member of the Jay United Methodist Church.
Ruth is survived by her son George H. "Nick" Wilson and his wife Kathy and daughter Ann Wilson Earp and her husband Carl, all of Jay, Okl.; two sisters Dorothy Smith and her husband Cecil R. of Tulsa, Okla. and Faye Lee and her husband Robert of Wagoner, Okla. Three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held Sunday at the Funeral Home. The funeral wias held Monday, December 22, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the Jay United Methodist Church with Dr. Jerry L. Barnes officiating. Burial followed at Duffield Cemetery.
Services were under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Okla.

BETTY (CORNSHUCKER) WOFFORD
JAY, Okla. - Betty (Cornshucker) Wofford, 93-year-old Jay resident, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at Monroe Manor Nursing Home in Jay.
Betty was born August 30, 1910 to Sam and Peggy (Freeman) Cornshucker. Betty grew up on Cloud Creek in Delaware County, Okla. Betty was united in marriage to Mose Wofford who preceded her in death on October 1, 1967. Betty spent the last few years of her life at Monroe Manor where she received loving care.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Mose; son Percy Bemer; three sisters, Fronie Teehee, Geneva Teehee and Smantie Davis; two brothers, Zeke and Mart Cornshucker; two grandchildren, Monty Hair and Willard Botts; and one great grandchild Shilo Bemer.
Surviving family members include Clifford Hair and wife Cora of Colorado; Dallas Botts and wife Doris of Oregon; two brothers, Bill Cornshucker of Missouri, Marshall Cornshucker; sister-in-law Wynona of Jay; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, December 29, at the Turner Funeral Chapel in Jay. Rev. Jess Williams officiated. Interment was at Clouds Creek Cemetery.
Services were entrusted to Turner Funeral Chapel of Jay.

HOMER TAYLOR (BUDDY) WOLFE, JR.
MIAMI, Okla. - Homer Taylor (Buddy) Wolfe, Jr., 62, of Miami, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at his home after an illness.
Mr. Wolfe was born July 26, 1940 in Picher, Okla. to Homer and Merlyn L. (Holder) Wolfe, Sr. He returned to the area from New Mexico and Arizona in 1980. He was a welder and attended the Church of Christ.
Mr. Wolfe was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mitzie Reynolds Huffman.
Survivors include one brother, Laymon L. (Copper) Wolfe of Joplin, Mo.; one sister, Ardys Robbins of Bernice, Okla; three nephews; and four nieces.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2003 in the GAR Cemetery in Miami, under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home.

JAMES ROBERT WOOD
MUSKOGEE, Okla. - James Robert Wood, 93-year-old life long resident of Colcord, Okla., died May 5, 2003, in Veteran's Hospital in Muskogee. Born December 12, 1909 in Locust Grove, Okla., known at that time as "Old Mark," he was the son of John Sinkler Wood and Flora Hankins Wood. James was a World War II Veteran, serving with the 711th Railway Battalion stationed in Iran. Mr. Wood was a retiree from Plus Poultry in Siloam Springs, Ark., as well as a retired farmer and was a member of Countryside Church near Colcord.
Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Horace, Sheridan, Leno, Arthur, Euell and Albert; and two sisters, Lassie Lovett and Letha Carroll.
Survivors include one brother, Marvin O. Wood of Kansas, Okla. Mr. Wood is also survived by scores of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, an entire community of life-long friends and children of Colcord Elementary, all of whom Uncle Jim considered his family.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, May 9, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, Ark., with Loyd Johnston and Edward Billups officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery, West Siloam Springs, Okla. Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

BETTY CHARLES WOODS
Betty Charles Woods, 60 year old, former Vinita resident passed away Monday September 29, 2003, at John Sealy Hospital, Galveston, Texas after a long battle with cancer.
Betty was born August 2, 1943 in Vinita, to Charles Edwards and Betty Carl (Clanton) Lay. She attended and graduated College High School in Bartlesville. She married Thomas Eugene Tate on April 27, 1962 in Bartlesville. Betty and Tom Shared life together for 26 years, during which time they brought a daughter Stacy Diane Tate, a son, Stephen Spencer Tate, in this world.
After Betty and Tom parted ways, she married Jim A. Woods, and a bonus daughter Christine (Woods) Davis. Jim and Betty and their children shared a joyous life of 14 years until her department.
Betty was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company in the Human Resources department and later worked with Jerry Pierce, Attorney at Law, in Bartlesville . She is a long time member o f the family of Christ and attended the Baptist and Methodist churches. Betty enjoyed singing, painting and reading, but the majority of her spare time was spent sharing about Christ and his faithfulness through out her battle with cancer. Cancer may ravaged her body, but she used it to refine her spirit and is now in paradise with Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Jim A. Woods of Houston, TX; her children, Stacy, Stephen, and Christine; her parents, Charles and Betty Lay of Tulsa; her sister Mary Elizabeth of Vinita; and four grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2003 at 11:00 a.m., graveside, at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Wade Markham officiating. Donations may be made to the Cancer Research Institute www.cancerresearch.org./criggift.html or to local church. Condolences may be sent to the family care of Burkhalter Funeral Home, Vinita. Services are under the direction of Burkhalter Funeral Home.

WILLIAM D. WORKS
William D. Works , 97, of Grove, Okla. and formerly of Miami, died Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at the Grove General Hospital after an illness.
Mr. Works was born September 11, 1906 in the Afton, Okla., Indian Territory area to John and Sammie (Moore) Works. He had lived in Ottawa County most of his life before moving to Grove seven years ago. He worked for the Banfield Co. and was also a lead and zinc miner.
Survivors include; a sister, Virgie Rusco of Tahlequah, Okla.; four nieces, Maxine Hutchins, Sandra Reeves, Pamela and Sammye Rusco; and a great niece Billie Sue Masterson.
Funeral services will b held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2003 in the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home in Miami. Burial will be in the Sixkiller Cemetery southeast of Afton, Okla. under the direction of the Guildford-Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.

GENEVIEVE M. WYATT
EUCHA, Okla. - Genevieve M. Wyatt, 82, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2003 at Grove, Okla. Geneieve was born September 25, 1920 at Callwell, Kan. to Ben McMurtrie and Jenny Willits Hillsileok.
Genevieve attended school at Skiatook and Central High, and later married Arthur W. Wyatt. Together they enjoyed riding motorcycles for several years, later moving to Grand Lake in 1969. Genevieve and Arthur raised a son, Arthur Lundy Wyatt, and later adopted him.
Genevieve is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James McMurtrie.
Genevieve is survived by: one son, Arthur L. Wyatt and wife, Ann, of Eucha; two grandsons, Cane and Jole; two sisters, Juanita and Irene and ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m., Saturday 18, 2003, at the Eucha Cemetery Eucha. Services were under the direction of Turner Funeral Chapel, Jay.

WILLIAM J.C. WYRICK
JOPLIN, Mo. - William J.C. Wyrick, 78, of Fairland, Okla. died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin after an illness.
Mr. Wyrick was born February 1, 1925 in Ottawa County, Okla., just east of Miami, to Joe and Eula (Shouse) Wyrick. He has lived in the Grand Lake area all his life. He was an Army paratrooper during World War II and Korea.
Mr. Wyrick worked for B.F. Goodrich for 23 years retiring in 1973. he also worked for Twin Bridges State Park for two years and Standard Plumbing & Electric for seven years. he was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and was a member of the Miami Elks Lodge.
Mr. Wyrick married June Smith Vanatta on June 20, 1970 at her home in Fairland. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include two sons, Gregory Jay Wyrick of Afton, Okla. and J.D. Wyrick of Kimberling City, Mo.; two daughters, Willena J. Baker of Tulsa, Okla. and Connie Archdale of Rogersville, Mo.; two stepsons, Claude H. Vanatta of rural Miami, Okla. and J.B. Vanatta of Fairland; one half sister, Faye Payton, of Augusta, Kan.; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five step-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 30, in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens, east of Miami. Rev. Donald Kirchhoff will officiate. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Funeral detail under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce, Okla.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday evening at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home.

AMOS DALE "PETE" YOUNGBLOOD
Amos "Pete" Youngblood, 75 , of White Salmon, Wash., departed this walk of life October 2, 2003 at his home. Born June 4, 1928, at Depew, Okla. to Andy and Josie (Carey) Youngblood. He was raised around Old Eucha, Okla. He served four years in the armed forces in Munich, Germany. He later moved to White Salmon, Wash., where he worked many years as a logger. Amos loved to fish and hunt.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; one step daughter, Wanda of White Salmon, Wash.; one son, Virgil Youngblood; two daughters, Barbara Ryan and Sylvia Sholl of the state of Washington; three sisters, Aldena Maynard of Snohimish, Wash., Beatrice Tanner of Jay, Okla., and Imogene Dykes of Eucha, Okla.; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and friends.
Amos was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Margaret, five brothers; Charlie, Plez, Roy, Bernie, and Wayne, and one sister, Grace.
Final resting place in Eucha Cemetery with graveside services on October 8, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Steve Stenze officiating under the directions of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Jay, Okla.

BENJAMIN THOMAS MCBRIEN
Ben McBrien, a resident of Miami, Okla. died Sunday August 31, 2003 at 2:20 a.m. at a local nursing center in Miami, Okla. at the age of 85 years. He was born April 28, 1918 in Welch, Oklahoma to Thomas Estes McBrien and Esther Viola (Harlin) McBrien.
He was employed by the Miami Fire Department for over 24 years. He had been an assistant fire cheif with the department. He lived in the Miami area most of his life. He was a member of the Southern Hills Baptist Church of Miami, Okla. He was married to Hazel Jane Burks at Oswego, Kan. on April 29, 1939.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel, one son James Lewis McBrien four sisters, Goldie Blue, Mae Thompson, Lela Buckley, Loretta Malone, and one brother George McBrien.
He is survived by three sons, Thomas E. McBrien of Grove, Okla., Bennie Lee McBrien, of Grove, Curtis Wayne McBrien of Miami, Okla. and one daughter Janie Sue Roberts of Chanute , Kan. Eight grand children, Thomas McBrien, Shawn McBrien, Deborah Charles, Julie McBrien-Pelkmans, Susan McClure, Lee Roberts, Brenton McBrien, Phillip McBrien. Eleven great grand children. One brother, Tommy Gene McBrien of Ohio, four sisters Dolly Digney of Bartlesville, Okla., Georgia Glazebrook of Sedalia, Mo., Thelma Passmore, Broken Arrow, Okla., Beverly O'Dell of Ohio.
Services will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Southern Hills Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Chuck Price. Interment will be at Williams Timber Hill Cemetery west of Miami, Okla. Pallbearers will be Glen Plott, Gene Carrigan, Gary Reynolds, Robert Turner, Herb Sherard, Roy Arnold, Bill Keeton, Darryl Miller, and Miami Fire Department will act as honoraries. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 2, 2003 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami. The family suggest donations to Regency Hospice in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami.
