GENEVIEVE IRENE SCHMIDT TURNER
Genevieve Irene Schmidt Turner, 80 of Quapaw, Okla. died Saturday August 30, 2003 at St. Johns Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo. after an illness. Mrs. Turner was born February 11, 1923 in Ottawa County near Quapaw, Okla. to Reo Alexander and Opal Marie (Myers) Spicer, she grew up around Quapaw and Council House areas before her travels took her to Kansas City and Tulsa.
After raising her family she returned to school at Okmulgee Tech to become an LPN, not only did she graduate, she was the top in her class had perfect attendance and was the oldest in her class at fifty five years of age. She went to work for St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa on eight west and worked there until she retired. She was of Seneca-Cayuga, Peoria and Wyandotte heritage and attended Council House Friends Church.
Mrs. Turner married Emmet Schmidt in 1939 he preceded her in death in December 1954, in 1957 she married Donald Turner, he preceded her in death September 1, 1992. One son Fredrick Charles Schmidt, and two brothers Odell and Chris Spicer also preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Sidney Grand Schmidt of Las Vegas, NV , Harvey Lewis Schmidt of Quapaw, Okla., Mike W. Turner of Bixby, Okla. and three daughters Wanonia Schmidt of Miami, Okla., Roberta Jane Haralson of Miami, Okla. and Emma Jena Innis of Phoenix, Ariz. three brothers Harold Marlette of Alanta, Ga., Marion Spicer of Grove, Harmon Spicer of Miami, Okla. Fifteen grand children and fourteen great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Council House Friends Church southeast of Wyandotte, Rev. Larry Pickard will officiate. Burial will be in the Council House Cemetery under the direction of Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home Miami. Mrs. Turner will lie in state at the home of her son Harvey Schmidt 62931 E 50 Rd. in Quapaw, Okla. Monday until service time. Pallbearers will be Tyner Schmidt, Bear Schmidt, Zachary Tyner, Dee Spicer, Austin Schmidt, Billy Spicer, and Lewis Spicer.

STACI JEANIEL JORDAN
Staci Jordan, age 18, died Friday August 29, 2003 in Springdale Ark. The daughter of James and Irene (Jackson) Jordan, she was born December 10, 1984 in Grove, Okla.
Staci worked for the Sonic, in Grove, Okla. She was a devoted mother. She had attended the Bible Baptist Church.
Survivors include two children Courtney Birdsell and Trenton Birdsell of the home. Her parents Jim and Irene Jordan in Grove. Grandparents Wayne and Gloria Jackson in Grove. Floyd and Barbara Jordan in Siloam Springs, Ark. Two sisters Heather and husband Jose Gonzalez, and their children Natalie and Marco in Grove. Tabitha and husband Joseph Loeffler Sr. and their children Shelby, Meagan, Joseph Jr. and Zoe in Little River , Texas. And numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews. The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2003 in the Graveside in the Olympus Cemetery. There will be a visitation for family and friends at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home. The services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. A memorial fund has been established at the Local Oklahoma Bank in Grove.

JACK E. STEPHENSON
Grove, Okla. - Jack Eldon Stephenson, 79, died Friday, August 29, 2003 at the Veterans Hospital in Claremore. Jack was born on May 16, 1924 in Grove, Okla. to Chester and Minnie Mae (Kelly) Stephenson. He graduated from Grove High School and was a veteran of the Army Air Corps. He married Thelma Lentz on December 14, 1945 in Grove. He owned a service station in Tulsa for fifteen years, then worked for the United States Postal Service for ten years . He was an electrical technician at McDonnell Douglas in Tulsa for ten years before moving to Grove in 1978. He worked for MKNC in Grove for a brief period of time. Mr. Stephenson attended First Christian Church, Grove and he loved to fish.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma of Tulsa; one son, Larry Stephenson and one daughter, Diane Barlow both of Tulsa; one sister, Kelly Bates of Tulsa; one brother, Chester "Sonny" Stephenson of Southwest City, Mo.; one grandson, Lantz Stephenson and two great grandchildren, Brenin and Raegen Stephenson.
Memorial services were held at 10:00 a.m.,Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at Worley-Luginbuel Chapel with the Grove Veterans Ritual Team officiating.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Okla.

MARPLE W. ANDERSON
Marple W. Anderson, 89, of Wilderville, died Tuesday, July 15, at her home.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 19 at Hull & Hull Chapel. Private interment will be at Swars Prairie Baptist Church Cemetery in Seneca, Mo. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
She was born on June 12, 1914 in Buffalo, Mo. and grew up in Seneca, Mo. On September 26, 1931 in Seneca, Mo. she married Richard Vernon Ball, who preceded her in death in November of 1967. Together with her husband she owned and operated a lumber business in Medford from 1955 to 1981. During that same time, from 1960 to 1970 they owned and operated charter fishing boats that ran out of Morro Bay, Calif. In 1998 she moved to Wilderville from Calif. she will be remembered for her kindness and always making people smile.
She was a member of the Teamsters Union. She enjoyed flower gardening, gold mining, ocean fishing and arts and crafts.
Survivors include her tow daughters, Vivian W. Stogsdill of Wilderville and Delores L. Roberts of Merlin; her brother, Wayne Anderson of Grove; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her three sons, and her sister, Dottie Cox.

LLOYD WENDELL CAVINESS
GROVE, Okla. - Lloyd Wendell Caviness, 54, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2003, in Nacodoches, Texas. Lloyd was born April 10, 1949, in Tulsa, to Grady Everett Caviness and Mildred (Earnhart) Caviness. He married Jill Seehawer on February 22, 1995. Lloyd was a pipeline operator engineer and served in the U.S. Army during Viet Nam. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Bernice, Okla., and the International Union of Operating Engineers #302.
Survivors are his wife, Jill L. Caviness; two daughters, Lisa Rasberry and her husband, Charles, of Miami, Okla., and Lyn Caviness of Bartlesville, Okla.; one step-daughter, Amy Rose Elsner and her husband, Randy, of Mamawa, Wis.; grandchildren, Dillon Rasberry, Jacie Housman and Jacob and Mickayle Elsner; parents, Grady Caviness and his wife, Shirley, of Riverton, Ill. and Mildred Harriger and her husband, Mick, of Grove.
Graveside services were held Monday, July 21, at the Hickory Grove Cemetery with Rev. Robert Gates, Jr., officiating.
Services were under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

WILLARD A. "BILL" MCGINNIS
Willard A. "Bill" McGinnis, 84, passed away on July 17, 2003 at Integris Grove General Hospital. memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, July 21, at Ellis Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Willard McGinnis was born in Delaware, Okla. on July 6, 1919 to Charles and Ruth (Smith) McGinnis. He attended Delaware and Nowata Schools. He was a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps, serving during World War II. He tied iron for the Local 10 Iron Workers of Kansas City, Kan. for twenty four years before his retirement in 1979. Willard was married to his first wife and the had five children. She passed away in 1958. He married Wandola Keithly in 1963 in Kansas City, Kan. They made their home in Baldwin, Kan. for twelve years before moving to Grove. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, American Legion and past member of the Moose Lodge in Baldwin, Kan. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and softball.
He is survived by his wife, Wandola of Grove; four children, pat McGinnis of Springhill, Kan., Cathy Richardson of Olathe, Kan., Cherie Kubricki of Olathe, and Mickey McGinnis of Camdenton, Mo.;' three grandsons; three granddaughters; one sister, Roberta Wilson; nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, James R. McGinnis and one son, Billy mike McGinnis.
Services are entrusted to Ellis Family Funeral Home, 107 S. Broadway, Grove.

LAVON STANBERY
Lavon "Stan" Stanbery, 82, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2003, in Grove. Lavon was born September 7, 1920 to George Ernest Stanbery and Iva (Bennitindi) Stanbery, in Granby, Mo. He finished high school in Grove and served in the Army Air Force. In 1946, he completed training as a Control Tower Operator and was assigned duty at Mather Field, Calif. where he helped develop ground Controlled Approach for aircraft disabled in flight. Lavon was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1949. He has been an active member of Grove American Legion Post for many years.
In 1950, Lavon married Leona R. Serbens at Miami, Okla. Lavon was a life-long mechanic and was Service Manger at Vinita, Stilwell, Tulsa, Alamosa, Colorado, Espanola, N.M. and Neosho, Mo.
In 1971, Lavon began pipeline constriction and traveled all over the United States. In the late seventies, he and Leona moved to Louisiana and lived there until 1982. They then came back to Oklahoma and have lived on Honey Creek since then.
Lavon was preceded in death by his parents, his son Robert Dane and granddaughter Ashley Rene Hulion.
Lavon is survived by his wife, Leona, and their children: daughter Debbie Sue baker and Husband Gil and daughter; daughter Danita Kay Hulion and husband John and sons; son Dana Lee and wife Carol and children. He is also survived by his daughter Deanna Rae Cook and her family.
Lavon is also survived by sister Ernestine (Sally) Ogden and Maxine Toliver, of Grove and a brother, Billy Allen Stanbery of Texas and heir families as well as many, many nieces and nephews and their families and a host of friends.
Visitation is Tuesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside and Military Rites will be Wednesday, 2 p.m. at Olympus Cemetery. Rev. John E. Butler officiating. Casket bearers will be grandsons. Services under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

OLLIE MAE TENNISON
JAY, Okla. - Ollie Mae Tennison, 73, passed away Friday, July 18, 2003, in Tulsa. Ollie was born September 25, 1929, in Delaware County, Okla. to Lawrence Bellum and Lena Buzzard. She graduated from Oaks High School and was a homemaker and member of Brush Creek Baptist Church. She married Tom Tennison on November 13, 1953. She had worked for O'Brien's and Simmons Poultry and enjoyed sewing and playing bingo.
Ollie is survived by four daughters and two sons: Jacqueline Sue Clark, Billie Jean O'Field, Karen Kay Tennison, Nysa Leah Tennison, Antonio George Tennison, and Alan Wayne Tennison; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Danny Joe Clark.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 22, at 10 a.m. at the Worley-Luginbuel Chapel in Jay. Burial will follow at Jumper Cemetery. Visitation will be 7 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay.

GEORGIA MABLE COOK
Grove, Okla.- Georgia Mable Cook, 87, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Sat., Jan. 31, 2004 in Ellis Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Dyer officiating. Interment will follow at Olympus Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Fri., Jan. 30, 2004 at the funeral home.
Georgia Cook was born on April 6, 1916 in Mount Vernon, Mo. to George and Mildred (Conner) Seamans. She moved to Grove in 1980 from Pasadena, Texas. She was a member of First Christian Church, Grove.
Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Doyle of Grove; one son, Bobby Lee Cook and wife, Lola of Carl Junction, Mo.; one sister, Billie Seamans of Grove; five grandchildren, Gary Rose, Pasadena, Texas, Dana Rose, Grove, Candace Wright, Neosho, Mo., David Cook, Diamond, Mo. and Janice Garrett, Webb City, Mo. and nine great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Freeman Heart Institute, P.O. Box 4000, Joplin, Mo. 64801.
Services are entrusted to Ellis Family Funeral Home, 107 S. Broadway, Grove, Okla. 74344, (918) 786-5172.

ELIZABETH ANN JOHNSON
JAY, Okla. - Elizabeth Ann Johnson, 63, a lifetime area resident, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at INTEGRIS Grove General Hospital following an extended illness.
Ann was born March 11, 1940 in Tulsa, Okla. to William Irven Roley and Helen (Brady) Roley. She was a caregiver for many years in the Grove area, and recently retired as a cook at Doc’s Senior Center in Grove. She was a licensed minister with the Full Gospel Church International.
Ann was united in marriage to William “Bill” Johnson on Sept. 28, 1955 in Claremore, Okla., and he survives.
Additional survivors include her mother, Helen Burke of Grove; two daughters, Andrea Kosier of Jay and Misty Monica of Springdale, Mo.; four sons, Joey Johnson of Jay, Benjie Johnson of Jay, Andy Johnson of Tulsa, and Kenneth Johnson of Jay; five sisters, Jewel Bailey of Mounds, Amelia Vernon of Pryor, Debbie Brooks of Collinsville, Sandy Porter of Tulsa, and Barbie Stephens of Boynton; five brothers, Roy Burke of Broken Arrow, Danny Burke of Tulsa, Toby Roley of the State of Florida, Jack Roley of Tulsa, and Johnny Roley of Fairland; 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father William Irven Roley, step-mother Florence Roley, step-father Everett Burke, and one son, Timmy Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. tonight, Jan. 29, at the Turner Funeral Chapel in Jay. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow, Jan. 30, at the First Assembly of God Church in Jay. Interment will be in Mose Ridge Cemetery, located in the Topsy community, under the direction of Turner Funeral Chapel of Jay.

IMA LEE LEWANDOWSKI
CRESTONE, Colo. - Ima Lee Lewandowski died peacefully on December 9, 2003 under Hospice care and with her devoted husband, Chet by her side.
Ima was born in Grove, Okla. on March 2, 1924, the only child of Pearl and Bailes Smith. Her working life included positions as a secretary for a legal firm and later, a restaurant manager alongside Chet as the chef.
Traveling with Chet was one of Ima's favorite pastimes. She enjoyed sewing, watching birds, visiting , and wearing the color red. Her quiet dignity, contagious smile, and deep warmth will be missed by all.
Ima was laid to rest next to her parents in Oklahoma as she had requested. She is survived by her husband Chet and their lively cocker spaniel, Rascal.

G.A. (TOMMY) ASBERY, JR.
GROVE, Okla. - G.A. (Tommy) Asbery, Jr., 79, died Jan. 24 in Grove. The son of G.A. Asbery, Sr. and Marzella Kennedy Asbery, he was born Feb. 6, 1924 in Lawton, Okla. He spent most of his childhood years in and around Graham, Texas, where he traveled with his family as share-croppers. As a small boy, he developed a love for hunting and fishing, especially around the Ozark region where his family would often visit and camp.
He married Wilma Waldon Asbery on June 20, 1952 in Portales, New Mexico. The love of his life preceded him in death in 1997.
A devoted husband, daddy, and granddad, he delighted in spending every moment he could with his family. He passed on his love of the outdoors to all of them. G.A. was a simple man with a primary education. He was a professional of the oil fields of Colorado, and later owned and operated a successful floor covering business in Seattle, Wash. He obtained a private pilot’s license at the age of 41. This was one of his many self-taught accomplishments. He always believed where there is a will, there is a way.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister. Survivors include four sisters, Joyce Cauthen of Aztec, N.M.; Marie Meshew of Pine Valley, Calif.; Betty Miller of Midland, Texas; and Lucy Williams of Franklin, Tenn. Other survivors include four sons, Johnny Asbery of Woodbridge, Va.; Harry Asbery of Lynnwood, Wash.; Randy Asbery of Grove, and Robby Asbery of Centerton, Ark.; two daughters, Beth Schad of Kewaunee, Wis.; and Faith Formby of Grove. He was also a loving granddad to 21 grandchildren and 13-and-a-half great grandchildren.
The service will be held at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 29, 11 a.m. with Pastor Jerry Baser officiating. Burial will follow at the Olympus Cemetery. Visitation is from 9-11 a.m. Thursday.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove.
