Lorraine Schuh
GROVE, Okla. - Lorraine Schuh, 86, of Grove, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at the Grove Nursing Center. She was born on September 12, 1917 in Worthington, Minn. to Leslie and Ethel (Goodell) Duxbury. She married Wilbert Schuh on November 16, 1940, and he preceded her in death on March 26, 1992. She had lived in Grove for 12 years after moving from Ft. Dodge, Iowa.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy Nelson and her husband Jud of Grove, Barbara Egli of Minneapolis, Minn.; one son, Paul and his wife Sharon of Peoria, Ill.; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 3 step-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
No services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove.

DOROTHY MAE (COOK) COLLINS
VINITA, Okla. - Dorothy Mae (Cook) Collins, age 82, life long area resident passed away Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Craig General Hospital in Vinita after an extended illness.
Dorothy was born April 6, 1921 in Delaware county, Cleora, Okla., to James Issac "Ike" and Dessie Lee (Adcox) Cook. She attended school for twelve years in Cleora. Dorothy was united in marriage to Cleo Harold "Ted" Collins by Judge Morrison, in the Craig County Courthouse in Vinita in 1938. The celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2003. She was totally devoted to her husband and their son.
Her family, home, and church were her greatest enjoyment in life. Dorothy excelled in cooking and she also loved gardening!
Dorothy was a long time member of Trinity Baptist Church of Vinita. She was a Training Union and Sunday School Teacher for the junior age children for many years, as well as teaching other classes. While living in Tulsa, in the sixties and seventies, she taught "New Member Orientation", at Sequoyah Hill Baptist Church, as well as teaching Sunday School in the Jr. Department. She loved teaching children.
Survivors include her loving husband, Ted of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Pat Collins of Vinita; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Harold Collins II and Donna of Tulsa; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kaye and "Monty" Montgomery of Tulsa; four great-grandchildren, Andrea Kaye Collins of Stillwater, Okla.; Hunter Dean Collins, Alec Gordon Montgomery and Taylor Nicole Montgomery, all of Tulsa; many nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Archie, Glenn, Everett, Harold, Charles and Lewis; three sisters, Pauline, Thelma and Isabell.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at Trinity Baptist Church in Vinita. Pastors Will Busch and Loyd Craford will officiate and burial will follow in the McLaughlin Cemetery at Cleora, Okla. under the direction of the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. Casket bearers will be Charles Hart, Bill Preston, Bill Daugherty, James Patrick, Henry Collins, Kyle Fritz and Bill Patrick.
Honorary casket bearers will be Dorothy's four great-grandchildren, Andrea, Hunter, Alec and Taylor.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 29 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the St. Francis Hospice, c/o Nancy DeHart, 803 N. Foreman, Vinita, OK 74301. Mrs. Collins' family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to everyone that expressed their love and comfort to Dorothy in so many ways during her illness.

PRISCILLA JANE (PJ) ELLIS
AFTON, Okla. - Priscilla Jane (PJ) Ellis, age 57, surrounded by her family, left to join the Lord on Thursday, March 25, 2004.
Services are pending with Ellis Family Funeral Home in Grove, 918-786-5172.

MINNIE "VIRGINIA" JACKSON
GROVE, Okla. - Minnie "Virginia" Jackson of Grove, died Friday, March 26, 2004 at the Integris grove General Hospital in Grove. She was 78.
Virginia was born October 2, 1925 to Lon and Minnie Elizabeth (Brown) Maples in Grove. She was homemaker and attended the Zena Free Holiness Church. She married Ray Jackson May 8, 1940 at Fairland, Okla. He preceded her in death February 3, 2002. She was also preceded in death by four sons, Robert Sam Jackson, Raymond Jackson, Daniel Jackson and Kenneth Jackson.
Survivors include: one son, Frank Jackson of Zena; five daughters, Katharine Burleson of Wyandotte, Okla.; Sue Sexton of Jay, Okla.; Faye Hicks, Minnie Jefferies and Lelia Hicks all of Zena. One brother, Lonnie Maples of Fairland and one sister, Hazel of Grove. Twenty-five grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2004 at the Delaware Baptist Church. Larry Jackson officiated. Services were under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

SEVERA A. (SUTTON) KIRKENDOLL
VINITA, Okla. - Another soldier gone, to get a great reward, Severa A. (Sutton) Kirkendoll, 84, longtime Vinita resident, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at Rosewood Terrace Nursing Center. She fought the fight, she kept the faith and now she has gone home to God.
Her soul has gone to God. The earth will claim its own, but she is shouting around the throne while we are left to mourn.
But some day we will meet again all our loved ones who have gone before; some day we will reach the happy land where parting will be no more.
Here's an open gate at the end of the road through which each must go alone and there is light we can not see.
Severa was born March 20, 1920 in Strang, Okla., to Joseph and Martha Jane (Thompson) Sutton. The family moved to Vinita in 1936. She united with the Sunrise Baptist Church, June 10, 1936, for 50 years and taught missionary. She was a devoted and faithful member, visiting the sick and was always on the alert as to how she could help comfort and cheer someone more said or lonely than herself. She was also a devoted wife and mother, a kind person and a true friend. She retired from Eastern State Hospital after 21 years where she was dietary cook.
Severa united in marriage to Charlie Kirkendoll, October 19, 1937, in Vinita, to this union a daughter and five sons were born.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 66 years, Charlie Kirkendoll of Vinita; a daughter, Shirley Patton and husband, Ken of Wichita, Kan.; four sons, Charles Kirkendoll and wife, Arlene of Vinita, Willie Kirkendoll and wife, Sarah and Lawrence Kirkendoll and wife, Delores all of Wichita, Kan.; Lewis Kirkendoll and wife, Frances of Wichita Falls, Tex.; a brother, Avery Sutton and wife, Evelyn of Wichita, Kan.; one Uncle Clayton Thompson of Vinita; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, a niece, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph and Martha Sutton and one son.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial may be made to the United Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 27, 2004 at 1:00 p.m., at Trinity Baptist Church with Reverends Lawrence Kirkendoll, Farris Downing and Robert Ramsey officiated. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery.
Casket bearers were grandsons, Steven Kirkendoll, Joseph O. Kirkendoll, Kevin Kirkendoll, Rodney Kirkendoll, Maurice Kirkendoll and Anthony Kirkendoll. Honorary casket bearers were Leonard Hardrick, Kenneth Norton, Lawrence "Bo" Kirkendoll, Wilbert Brown and Kenneth Patton.
Sleep on dear one and take your rest, we love you but God loved you best.
Services were under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home of Vinita.

DEBORAH ELIZABETH MASSIE
KANSAS, Okla. - Deborah Elizabeth Massie, 54 year old resident of Kansas, Okla., died March 27, 2004 at her residence. born November 2, 1949 in Smithfield, Virginia, she was the daughter of Palmer Wade Eubank, Sr. and Dorothy Elizabeth Wilson-Eubank. She lived in Newport News, Va. prior to moving to Kansas, Okla. two years ago. She was a Registered Nurse and worked in the Intensive Care Unit at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, Va. as well as Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs, Ark. Deborah was a member of the Benns United Methodist Church of Smithfield, Va. She was preceded in death by one daughter Cynthia Lynn Cheek; her father Palmer Wade Eubank Sr.; one granddaughter Kalyn Denae Cheek; two aunts and one uncle.
Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Eubank of Newport News; one daughter, Missy Lewis Reeder of Kansas, Okla.; one son, William Cheek and wife Kristi of Killeen, Tex.; one sister, Pam Rishoi and husband, William of Maitland, Fla.; one brother, Palmer "Buddy" Eubank Jr. and wife, Patsy of Grafton, Va.; five grandchildren, Grant, Wade and Johnny Lewis of Kansas, Okla., Samantha Cheek of Killeen, Tex. and Aaron Reeder of Kansas, Okla.; one aunt, Ann Austin and husband, Fred of Smithfield, Va.; one uncle Swain Davis of Smithfield, Va. and one niece, Kristin Rishoi of Maitland, Fla.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 2, 2004 at the Wasson Memorial Chapel of Siloam Springs, Ark. burial will follow in the Molly Field Cemetery of rural Cherokee County, Oklahoma. Pastor Steve Welch will be officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs. Arkansas.

EMMI VON der HELM
ZENA, Okla. - Emmi Von der Helm of Grove died Saturday, March 27, 2004 at her home at Zena. She was 86.
Emmi was born January 2, 1918 at Frankfurt-Main, Germany to Rudolph and Magdalena (Brickel) Malinowsky. She married Karl K. Von der Helm June 11, 1937 at Frankfurt-Main; he preceded her in death in 1985. Emmi loved life, she liked to sew, travel and dance. Most importunately was her family.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and one grandson. Survivors include two children, Helga Harris of Jay, Okla. and Uwe Von der Helm of Frankfurt-Main, Germany. Two sisters, Leni Schmidt of Karlsrune, Germany and Ami Thiele of Kempen, Germany. Two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Family will receive friends at 5:30 p.m. prior to the service.

NANCY MAE BOWEN
TULSA, Okla. - Nancy Mae Bowen, 80, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
Nancy Bowen was born on March 27, 1923 in Iaton, Missouri to Charles Roscoe and Mary Jane (Ogara) Nelson. She married John R. Anderson in November, 1957. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1990. She married Floyd Bowen in Miami, Oklahoma on December 27, 1993. Mrs. Bowen enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing, dancing and riding motorcycles. She was a member of the Women of the Moose.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd of Tulsa; her children, Nancy Mae Huggins of Powell, Ohio and Phillip Eric Anderson of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three brothers, Eddie Nelson and Douglas D. Nelson both of Olathe, Kan. and Robert Ray Nelson of Commerce City, Colo.; one granddaughter, Kathy Mae Huggins.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Hickory Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association.

COONEY SWAKE
GROVE, Okla. - Cooney Swake, 74, died Thursday, March 25, 2004 at Integris Grove General Hospital.
Cooney Swake was born on January 23, 1930 in Adair County to Ralph Blue and Nancy (Hilderbrand) Swake. He worked as a laborer for the county and the Cherokee Nation. He was baptized at Chewey Baptist Church.
Survivors include his companion of twenty-eight years, Betty; two children, Connie Buzzard of Baxter Springs, Kan. and Donny Swake of Ft. Smith, Ark.; five stepchildren, Jo Sharp of Jay, Lucinda Wright of Arkansas, Robert Sharp and Charles Sharp both of Grove and Lee Sharp of Jay; one sister, Mary Morehead of Grove; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 29, at Butler Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

ROY LEE McKINZIE
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - ROY LEE McKinzie, 81, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at his daughter's home in Overland Park, Kan.
Roy McKinzie was born on January 9, 1923 in Hickory County, Mo. to Roy C. and Pearl O. (Thompson) McKinzie. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army/Air Force serving during WWII. He retired from the Air Force Reserve after 33 years of service, attaining the rank of Major.
Mr. McKinzie married Helen K. Drozdowski in Springfield, Mo. on November 30, 1946. He worked in petroleum sales for Farmland Industries. He was previously a Co-op manager. Mr. McKinzie was a member of the Lions Club, AARP, a volunteer at the Senior Citizen's Center, delivered Meals on Wheels and was a Silver Hair Legislator.
Awards Mr. McKinzie received include the Kiawanian of the Year Award, Joe R. Henton Memorial Award in 1994 for outstanding service to older Americans, 12th Annual Humanitarian of the year from Grove Legion of Moose Lodge 2033, St. Andrews Award for endless and faithful service, Grove Senior Citizens Center President's Award for Delaware, Ottawa, Craig Counties-Senior Advisory Council.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of Grove; three daughters, Sharon DeHaemer and husband, Gary of Overland Park, Kan., Kathlene Craven and husband, Steve of Madison, Wis., Marie Rodreick and husband, Timothy of Oviedo, Fla.; one son, Wayne Charles McKinzie and wife, Diane of Ft. Worth, Tex.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ione Copp of Warsaw, Mo., Opal McKinzie of Jefferson, Mo., Shirley Parsons of Weableau, Mo, and Reva McKinzie of Warsaw Mo.; four brothers, Harold McKinzie of California, Jack McKinzie of Oregon, Paul McKinzie of Independence, Mo. and Darrell McKinzie of California. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gene McKinzie.
