1945-2004
GROVE, Okla. - Donice Lynn Russell, 59 year old Grove, Okla. resident, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at the Integris Grove General Hospital following an extended illness.
Donice was born July 24, 1945 in Hutchinson, Kan. to Claude and Helen (Graves) Ayers. She worked as a waitress for many years before retiring due to health reasons. She moved to the Grove area in 1995 from Benton, Kan.
Surviving family members include: one daughter, Shelly Russell of Grove, Okla.; one son, Sam Snyder and wife, Michele of Grove, Okla.; one sister, Janell Ketchum of Kansas; one brother, Steve Ayers of New Mexico; two grandchildren, Emily and Sam Snyder of Grove, Okla.
Donice was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter; Donice Janell; one brother; and one sister.
There will be private family services only.

ELIZABETH M. KLAUS
1910-2004
MIAMI, Okla. - Elizabeth M. Klaus, 94, resident of Miami, Okla. died Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at 9:05 a.m. in Miami, Okla.
Mrs. Klaus was born on October 9, 1910 in Wildberg Forest, Germany.
Her occupation was a worker at the Weaver-Olson Rug Company in Chicago, Ill.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami, Okla.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, December 30, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at the Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami, Okla.
Burial services will follow at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, Okla.

Stephen Neumann
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A longtime television broadcaster and former director of athletic broadcasting for the University of Oklahoma has died.
Stephen Neumann died Saturday. He was 54.
After graduating from Southern Nazarene University in 1973, Neumann worked for 15 years at WKY-TV, now KFOR, as both a reporter and special projects director.
After working in television, Neumann hosted and produced both the OU football and basketball coaches’ shows through his company, Steve Neumann Productions, while at the same time serving as the university’s director of athletic broadcasting.
Neumann’s father had been the been host of the coaches’ shows in the past, said his brother-in-law, William Reville.
“His whole life revolved around OU football and basketball,” Reville said.
Services for Neumann are at noon Wednesday at All Souls Episcopal Church.

Jerry Orbach
NEW YORK - "Law & Order" star Jerry Orbach has died of prostate cancer at 69, a representative of the show said Wednesday.
Orbach died Tuesday night in Manhattan after several weeks of treatment, Audrey Davis of the public relations agency Lippin Group said.
When his illness was diagnosed, he had begun production on NBC's upcoming spinoff "Law & Order: Trial By Jury," after 12 seasons playing Detective Lennie Briscoe in the original series. His return to the new show had been expected early next year.
On Broadway, the Bronx-born Orbach starred in hit musicals including "Carnival," "Promises, Promises" (for which he won a Tony Award), "Chicago" and "42nd Street."
Among his film appearances were roles in "Dirty Dancing," "Prince of the City" and "Crimes and Misdemeanors."

FLOY L. BRASHEAR
1922-2004
KANSAS, Okla. - Floy L. Brashear, 82 year old resident of Kansas, Okla., died December 26, 2004, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs, Ark. after a short illness. She was born September 23, 1922 in Rocky Ford, Okla. to Earl Freeman and Mae Belle Strong Freeman Garrett. She lived in the Kansas, Twin Oaks area for 60 years and in the Tulsa area for 20 years. She was a cosmetology teacher. Floy was also one of the “Rosie the Riveters” during World War II and was of the baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Benjamin Franklin “Frank” Brashear in 1993; one son, Steve Brashear; and two sisters, Dollie Mann and Olive Potter.
Survivors include: three sons, Eldon F. Brashaer and wife, Mary of Kansas, Okla.; Earl A. Brashaer and wife, Faith of Catoosa, Okla., and Edsel W. Brashear of Tulsa, Okla.; six grandchildren; one sister, Myrtle Garrett of Modesto, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2004, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, Ark., with Pastor Don Marshal officiating. JAMES ALEX FORD
1913 - 2004
GROVE, Okla. – James Alex Ford, 91, of Afton, died at Integrist Grove General Hospital early Monday, December 27, 2004 following an illness.
Mr. Ford was born April 17, 1913 in Stone County, Ark. to Thomas and Ida May Stroud Ford. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, worked as a farmer for many years, and also worked as an area foreman for the Arkansas Highway Department.
He married Estelle Hamilton in 1934, and she preceded him in death in 1972. He moved to Afton in 2002 from Rosebud, Ark., and was a member of the LDS Church in Grove.
Survivors include three sisters, Arlous Duff and Wilma Oakley, both of Afton, and Virginia Spurgeon of Miami; one half brother, Reuben Hopper of Ralston, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at Adcock Funeral Home of Afton with Roland Adcock officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Barton, Ark. under the direction of Adcock Funeral Home.

ETHEL MAI DOWNING
1917-2004
GROVE, Okla. - Ethel Mai Downing, the daughter of Thomas W. and Mary Downs New was born March 17, 2004 in Webb, Miss. and died Dec. 23, 2004 at the Grove Nursing Center in Grove, Okla.
She attended school in Shawnee, Okla. She was united in marriage to Robert Downing Sept. 29, 1938 in Shawnee, Okla. Mrs. Downing was a homemaker and was a member of the harvest Temple in Baytown, Texas. Mrs. Downing enjoyed doing ceramics.
Survivors include: son, Bob and his wife, Shirley; three daughters, Judy Atchison and her husband, Bill, Kathy Boatright and her husband, Leroy, and Mary Holt and her husband, Darrell; grandsons, Bobby Downing and his wife, Shanna, B.J. Atchison, Gary Patton, Scott Patton and his wife Brandie, and Tim Patton; granddaughters, Kimberly Downing, Sheri Holt and her husband, Joe; great grandchildren, Amber Atchison, Kaylen Atchison, Ryan Downing, and Brooke Downing.
The funeral was held on Friday, December 24, 2004 at the graveside in the Olympus Cemetery. The services were directed by the Ellis Family Funeral Home in Grove, Okla.

E. NANCY MATTHEWS
1949 - 2004
MIAMI, Okla. – E. Nancy Matthews, longtime resident of Fairland, died at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami early Friday, December 24, 2004 after a lengthy illness. She was 55.
She was born October 6, 1949 in Clinton, Okla. to Hoyt and Modene (Wilson) Miller. She moved, with her parents, to Fairland in 1951. She graduated with the Class of 1968, and was homecoming queen for 1968. She had worked for Southwestern Bell as an operator, and was a member of the First Christian Church of Fairland.
She married Larry Matthews in 1969, and they were later divorced.
She is survived by her father, Hoyt Miller of Miami; a son and his wife, Justin and Adrian Matthews of Fairland; a daughter and her husband, Kristi and Craig Oakley of Fairland; a brother and his wife, Steve and Peggy Miller of Miami; and four grandchildren, Jaxson Oakley, Jasper Oakley, Tyson Matthews, and Maddison Matthews, all of Fairland.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Modene Miller.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, December 27, 2004, at the First Christian Church of Fairland with Brian Giebler, minister, officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Larry Gray, Jordan Stovall, Jason VanHoose, Tim Kahler, Mikey Williams, and Craig Oakley. Interment followed at Fairland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in care of Adcock Funeral Home.

MELVINA MARTIN
1934 - 2004
JAY, Okla. – Melvina Martin, 88, died Thursday, December 23, 2004, at her home in Jay.
The daughter of William H. and Ona M. (Haggard) Robertson, she was born on February 20, 1916 in Topsy, Okla. Melvina was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
She married Joe Martin on December 19, 1934 in Jay, and he preceded her in death on May 18, 1963. Also preceding her in death were her parents and an infant daughter, Tammy Jo Martin.
Survivors include six children, Christine Kenney of Jay, Calvin Martin of Richardson, Texas, Treva Martin of Jay, Bobby Martin of Jay, Arnold Dean Martin of Jay, and Gary Martin of Edmond, Okla.; one sister, Pauline Whisamore of Welch, Okla.; one brother, Cot Robertson of Topsy, Okla.; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2004 at the First Assembly of God Church in Jay. Interment followed at the Mose Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Jay.
