RAYMOND E. STANLEY
1911-2004
LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. - Raymond E. Stanley, son of Harry Clyde and Edna McKinley Stanley, was born October 31, 1911, in Erie, Kan. He departed this life on December 23, 2004 at John Knox Care Center, Lee’s Summit, Mo. He had attained the age of 93 years, one month and 22 days. Ray spent the first part of his lifetime in Erie and graduated from the Erie High School.
He graduated from the William’s College of Mortuary Science in 1932. Over the course of his career he owned funeral homes in Eskridge, Baldwin City, and Parsons, Kan. prior to moving to Pleasant Hill, Mo. in 1955.
He married Miss Lillian H. Siever on the 3rd of December, 1938. They were married in Picher, Okla.
They chose Pleasant Hill as the perfect community to raise their two children and in 1955 purchased this funeral home, Stanley & Son Funeral Home. They remained here until retiring in 1978.
While in Pleasant Hill, he served two terms on the city council, served on the Board of Public Works, and served as president of the Chamber of Commerce. He was chairman of the citizen’s committee which successfully passed bond issues for new water and sewage plants as well as a new high school. He was vice president of the original board of Cass Medical Center and served from 1960 until 1970.
He was a member and past master of the Palmyra Masonic Lodge #23 A.F. & A.M. in Baldwin, Kan. and a member of the Consistery at Lawrence, Kan. He was a past president of the Pleasant Hill Lion’s Club and also District IV of the Missouri Funeral Director’s Association.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene Stanley, Ernest Stanley, Forrest Stanley, and Dr. Rex Stanley.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Lillian Stanley of their home at John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit; his son, Clark and his wife, Eugenia of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; his daughter, Judy Hayes and her husband, Mike of Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother, Kenneth Stanley and his wife, Joan of Pittsburg, Kan.; his sister, Reva Strange and her husband, Bill of Grove, Okla.; sister-in-law, Nancy Stanley of Chandler, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Fortune of Vinita, Okla., Amy Stiefvater and her husband, Jeff of Overland Park, Kan., Blake Fortune and his wife, Mindy of Lenexa, Kan., Aaron Stanley of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; a great grandson, William Stanley of Pleasant Hill, Mo., and many other relatives and good friends. All will have fond memories of the many great times they were blessed to with him.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 27, 2004 at the Stanley & Son Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Mo. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Rev. Jon C. Spalding officiated.
Casket bearers were: Blake Fortune, Aaron C. Stanley, Jeff Stiefvater, Elvin S. Douglas, Jr., Dr. R.C. Ebert, Dale V. McClintock, and Art Pinsart.

ROBERT (DALE) GALBRAITH
1922 - 2004
GROVE, Okla. – Robert (Dale) Galbraith, long-time resident of Grove, died at 8 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2004 at Integris Grove General Hospital.
Mr. Galbraith was born March 8, 1922, the son of Charles and Kate Galbraith. He married Ginger Leonard on October 7, 1996, and she survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Victor Dale Galbraith of Bonner Springs, Kan., Darrell Galbraith of Grove, and Bob Galbraith of Grove; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from Harding Glass in Topeka, Kan. He was also an avid fisherman.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 26, 3-4 p.m. at Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Mo. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 27, 2 p.m. at Parker Mortuary with Pastor Sam Carper officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

INA VIRGINIA PAGE KIRK
1925-2004
MIAMI, Okla. - Ina Virginia Page Kirk, 79, resident of Miami, Okla., died Monday, December 20, 2004 at 10:05 a.m. at her home in Miami, Okla. after a long illness.
Mrs. Kirk was born January 13, 1925 at Hartsville, Mo. to George Benjamin and Ina Jane (Cawyer) Page. She had moved to the Miami area as a small child and resided there the rest of her life. She had formerly worked at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in the dietary dept. and then later in housekeeping. She then owned and operated the St. James Hotel Coffee Shop, and then later a cafe on the truck route in Miami.
Mrs. Kirk married Louis M. Kirk in 1944 at Miami. He preceded her in death in June of 1979.
Survivors include: a son, Louis Dean Kirk and his wife, pat of Annandale, Va.; three daughters, Doris Shelton and her husband, Alan of Grove, Okla., Diane Kirk and Rae Conner, both of Miami; a brother, Leonard Page of Wilder, Idaho; 17 grandchildren; and 36 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sons; Larry Jeffries, Denzil Kirk, Don Kirk, and James Kirk.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at the Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, Okla. with Father Phil Lawrence officiating.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 23, 2004 at Williams Coal Creek Cemetery, west of Miami, Okla.
Burial services are under the direction of Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami, Okla.

HOYT L. ESTEP
1921 - 2004
GROVE, Okla. - Hoyt L. Estep, 83, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2004, at the Oklahoma Veteran’s Center in Claremore, Okla.
Mr. Estep was born on July 10, 1921, in Paris, Ark., to Fred and Bertha (Bowman) Estep. He served during World War II with the 41st Infantry Division Company D 729th, Military Police Platoon. His division was known as the Sunset Division and fought in New Guinea from March 19, 1942 through November 14, 1944. He received the American Defense Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, AP Service Ribbon and three Bronze Stars. Mr. Estep married Patsy Luttrell on March 27, 1948, and they were married for over 50 years. He worked as Lead Man at Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa for 17 years and then resigned to pursue full time farming near Inola, Okla. They later sold that farm and bought a farm southeast of Bluejacket, which his son now lives on. Estep was a member of the Grand Lake Center Baptist Church of Monkey Island where he had many dear friends.
Survivors include his son, Dale Estep and wife Jeri of Bluejacket; one granddaughter, Kim Estep of Peachtree City, Ga.; two grandsons, Lance Goins and wife Stephanie of Norman, Okla. and Mike Goins and wife Casie of Bluejacket; one great-grandson, Alexander Goins of Norman; one brother, Jim Estep and wife Maxine of St. Louis Park, Minn.; two sisters, Louella Patino of California and Christine Taylor of Saint Peters, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Erma Lea Lane of Fayetteville, Ark. and Shirley Luttrell of Watts, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patsy in 1999, and his brother Bill Estep.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, at Lake Center Baptist Church on Monkey Island with Rev. Kim Hays officiating. Burial will follow at Rolston Cemetery, next to the church.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

ALFRED G. MORRIS
1919-2004
LANGLEY, Okla. - Alfred G. Morris, 85 year old Langley, Okla. resident, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2004 at his home in Langley following an extended illness.
Alfred was born July 15, 1919 in Okmulgee, Okla. to Loyal Morris and Mary Francis (Foreman) Morris. Alfred was a retired self-employed welder. Alfred served his country with the United States Coast Guard during W.W.II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Steel Workers, and the St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church in Langley.
Alfred was united in marriage to Welhemina in 1948.
Surviving family members include: his wife Wilhemina of the home; one sister, Hazel Hancock of Disney, Okla.; four nephews, Gary Morris of Racy, Calif., William Cummings, Monte Cummings, and Gordon Haney, all of Tulsa, Okla.
Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at the Turner Funeral Chapel in Langley.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at the St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church in Langley. Father David Garrick will officiate . Interment rites will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Okla.

ELAINE CARPENTER
1930-2004
SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - Elaine Carpenter, 74, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Friday, December 17, 2004 at the Siloam Springs Medical Center. She was born April 18, 1930 in Jackson, Ohio to William A. Hatten and Mable Blair Hatten.
Elaine was a homemaker. She married LeRoy “Lee” Carpenter in Las Vegas, Nev. on Feburary 17, 1959. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Avanelle Ratcliff and Anna Mildred Hatten, and two brothers; Floyd Hatten and Donald Hatten.
Survivors include: her husband, Lee of the home; one son, Donald Carpenter and wife, Kim of Siloam Springs, Ark.; four grandchildren; one sister; Doris Allen of Phoenix, Ariz.; three brother, Roy Hatten of Jackson, Ohio, Renaldo Hatten of Phoenix, Ariz., and Harold Hatten of Jackson, Ohio.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Monday, December 20, 2004 at the Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Ark. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs, Ark., with Pastor Tim Estes officiating. 1931-2004
GROVE, Okla. - Billie Louise Cox, 73, died Thursday, December 16, 2004 at her residence in Vinita.
Billie Cox was born on June 4, 1931 in Meadow, Texas to Cyrus Uriah and Nana Ruth (Justiss) Tyson. She was a member of Grand Lake Family Fellowship in Grove.
Survivors include: seven children, Ralph Shelby of Grove, Donna Ruhaak of Aurora, Colo., John Dykes of Spavinaw, Okla., Sue Gray of Vinita, Okla.; one sister, Gladys Thorpe of Flagstaff, Ariz.; twenty-five grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter; Nana Daniels and one brother; Kenneth Tyson.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Okla.
