THOMAS FRANKLIN ECKERT
1944-2005
MIAMI, Okla. – Thomas Franklin Eckert, 60, of Miami passed away Saturday, April 9 at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri following a sudden illness.
Eckert was born September 13, 1944 in Decatur, Illinois to Frank Henry Eckert and Phyllis Bernice (Stevens) Eckert. He attended and graduated from high school in Decatur. He was self-employed, working in floor installation.
Eckert was united in marriage to Virginia M. Dain on June 5, 1974 at Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They recently moved to Miami from Baton Rouge.
Surviving family members include his wife Virginia of the home, and three sisters-in-law and their husbands, Alice and Bill Erwin of Miami, Mary Ann and Ben Beebout of Miami, and Joyce and Jim Terrell of St. Louis, Missouri.
A private family gathering was held at the home of Alice and Bill Erwin in Miami on Sunday, April 10.

VELMA IMOGENE MOORE
PICHER, Okla. – Velma Imogene Moore, 81, of Picher died Monday, April 11 at Integris Baptist Regional Medical Center in Miami, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13 at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home Chapel in Miami.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14 at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home Chapel in Miami.
Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.
Moore was a former Nurse Aide

ERMA L. SCHROEDER
MIAMI, Okla. – Erma L. Schroeder, 78, of Miami died Sunday, April 10 at her home.
Visitation was Tuesday, April 12
Funeral services were Wednesday, April 13 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Miami.
Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Fairland, Oklahoma.
Schroeder was a housewife and homemaker.

CURRIE (HOPPER) WILCOXSON
1976-2005
GROVE, Okla. – Currie (Hopper) Wilcoxson, 28, died Sunday, April 10 at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri.
Currie Jayne Wilcoxson was born November 12, 1976 in Oklahoma City to Dr. Robert and Susa Jayne (Kerr) Hopper. She married Dusty Wilcoxson on July 15, 2000 in Callahan, Florida. She graduated from Grove High School in 1995. She worked at the Sam Hider Community Clinic in Jay. She attended Lake Center Baptist Church on Monkey Island.
Family includes her husband, Dusty Wilcoxson; her father, Dr. Robert Hopper; her mother, Susa Hopper; maternal grandmother, Joyce Belt Kerr; siblings David Hopper of Ft Lewis, Washington, Sadie Hopper of Springfield, Missouri, Breah Hopper of Grove, and Harvey Hopper of Stillwater, Oklahoma; half-siblings Tina Shores of Oklahoma City, Scott Glover of Stillwater, and Matt Glover of Grove; stepsister Ginger Glover of Houston, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 15 at Elk River Baptist Church with Rev. Kim Hayes officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Memorial contributions to a scholarship fund in Currie’s memory may be made in care of the funeral home. Financial institution location is still pending.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma.

HALLIE M. COX
1903-2005
GROVE, Okla. - Hallie M. Cox, 101, died Sunday, April 10 at Grand Lake Villa in Grove.
Cox was born September 12, 1903 in Grove to James Thomas and Rosa May (Hannon) Sixkiller. She married Timothy Wright Baty and he preceded her in death in 1964. She was then married to Elmer Cox and he preceded her in death in 1981. She worked as a waitress for restaurants in Jay, and also for Gibson Studio in Grove. She was a member of the Nazarine Church in Grove.
Survivors include her son Charles E Baty of Grove; one sister, Bea Doublehead of Grove; three grandchildren, Charles Buford Baty of Grove, Evelyn Brodrick of Grove, H. Laurence Baty of Redman, Oregon; fifteen great grandchildren; sixteen great great grandchildren; and three great great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister and six brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14 at the Nazarene Church in Grove with Phil Buck officiating. Burial will follow at Zena Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma.

CHARLES T. MORRIS SR.
1929-2005
GROVE, Okla. - Charles T. Morris Sr., 76, died Saturday, April 9 at St. John's Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri.
Morris was born March 16, 1929 in Manhattan, Kansas to Frank and Mary Jane (Thompson) Morris. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He married Roseann Rebecca Kuehl on June 22, 1952 in Yuma, Arizona. He worked as a bricklayer until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church in Topeka, Kansas. He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of the Grove Masonic Lodge. He had lived in Grove since 1999, moving from Ozawkie, Kansas.
Survivors include his wife Roseann of Grove; three children. Brenda Holder of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Beverly Chapman of Aurora, Colorado, and Charles T. Morris II of Lees Summit, Missouri; four grandchildren, Brandon Holder, Stephanie Morris, Charles T. Morris III, and Christopher Morris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home with Masonic Rites by the Grove Masonic Lodge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital International Headquarters, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607-1460.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma.

JOHNNY L. PRATHER
1947-2005
GROVE, Okla. - Johnny L. Prather, 57, died Sunday, April 10 at his home in Grove.
Prather was born December 27, 1947 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John S. and Gladys (Burger) Prather. He graduated from Grove High School in 1963. He married Carolyn Conduff in Columbus, Kansas on March 15, 1965. He was a farmer, cattle rancher, and a school bus driver for Grove Public Schools for 26 years. He also did carpentry work and raised pecan trees. He enjoyed his grandchildren and loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; his children, Sue Bennett and husband Zane, Le Ann Chandler husband Bryce, all of Grove; one brother, Mike Prather of Grove; four grandchildren, Steven Bennett, Craig Bennett, Samantha Bennett, and Corbin Chandler.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13 at Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Hayward and Rev. Guy Morrow officiating. Burial will follow at Olympus Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Bible Baptist Church missions fund.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma.

ANNA L. BROOKS
1917-2005
GROVE, Okla. - Anna Louise Brooks, 87, died Saturday, April 9 at Integris Grove General Hospital. She had lived in the Grove area for one year, coming from Lafayette, Indiana.
Brooks was born August 2, 1917 in Glendale, Kentucky, to Clarence B. and Mary Etta (Buckles) Chenult. She married James Leaman Brooks on June 1, 1937 in Sinora, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1995.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary England and Husband Bob of Grove; one sister, Agnes Skees of White Mills, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Cheryn Gillespie of Wichita, Vicky Calvin of Wichita, Karen Parmley of Clovis, New Mexico, and Jerry Funk of Lafayette, Indiana; five step grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; thirteen step great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at Worley-Luginbuel Chapel with Rev. Rick Thomas officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday in Tippecanoe Memorial Gardens in Lafayette, Indiana. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma.

ETHEL VIRGINIA DAVIS
1921-2005
BERNICE, Okla. - Ethel Virginia Davis, 83, of Bernice, died April 9 in Grove, Oklahoma.
Davis was born May 4, 1921 in El Dorado, Kansas, to James Ralph and Loy Etta (Wall) Cherryholmes. She grew up and attended school in El Dorado, graduating El Dorado High School in 1939. She married Harold L. Davis August 26, 1939 in Augusta, Kansas, who preceded her in death June 19, 1996.
Davis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a homemaker, taking wonderful care of her family through the years. Hobbies she enjoyed included dolls, sewing, playing cards, camping, and working puzzles. She attended Wayside Bible Church in Bernice.
Survivors include her loving daughters, Brenda Jean Wilson of Bernice and Ginger Lee Reiff of Wichita, Kansas. She is also survived by a brother, Kenneth Cherryholmes of Newton, Kansas; a sister, Loy Etta; grandchildren Teri Rae Kennedy, Toni Gay Wolpe, Michal Winfield Stewart, and Ryan Davis Stewart; and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her son Ray Davis in 2001, her son-in-law Larry Reiff in 2002, two brothers, and a sister.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 12 at Ballard Cemetery in Bernice, with Rev. Gene Jones officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita.
