RUBY JEWELL (SOOTER) WATSON
1919-2005
VINITA, Okla. - Ruby Jewell (Sooter) Watson, 86, of Vinita passed away Friday, April 8 at Rosewood Terrace Nursing Center in Vinita. She was born March 22, 1919 in Zena, Oklahoma to Ottie and Faye (Wilson) Sooter.
Watson was united in marriage to Charles L. Watson February 1, 1936 in Vinita, Oklahoma, and they had three children.
Watson was a devoted wife and mother, who spent her life in the tradition of "family comes first." She lived her life caring for them in sickness and health always with forgiving love and compassion.
Watson was an honor student at Vinita High School, and graduated as a member of the National Honor Society. Instead of accepting a college scholarship, Watson turned her efforts toward helping her husband build a successful construction company. Over the years, her commitment to her husband's career required her to move to New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas, but she always took charge when moves had to be made or changes were needed. During these busy years, she still had time to make new friends in new places, volunteer in community projects, and give time and effort to various political campaigns, which she loved working on. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Vinita.
Survivors include one son, Gary Watson and wife Maureen of Hot Springs, Arkansas; granddaughter Kelly L. Watson of Kansas City, Kansas; the Sooter Family, the Heater Family, and the Wiedower Family; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband Charles L. Watson; an infant daughter; son Jerome Charles Watson; grandson Craig T. Watson; and stepfather Jack H. Bush.
The family requests donations be made in honor of Watson to the Rosewood Terrace Nursing Center in Vinita. They would like to thank all the people who made friends and visited her after she moved back to Vinita.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday April 13 at Burckhalter Funeral Home Chapel in Vinita with Dr. Larry Wallace from the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial is to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Vinita.
Arrangements are under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home of Vinita.

CALVIN L. McKINNIS
1937-2005
JAY, Okla. - Calvin L. McKinnis, 68, died Wednesday April 6 at his home in Jay. The son of Robert and Ida (Tatkenhorst) McKinnis, Calvin was born March 22, 1937 in Mead, Kansas. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a mechanic for Bell Helicopter in Amarillo, Texas, and Boeing in Wichita, Kansas. He moved to the Jay area in 1996 from Fritch, Texas. He volunteered in the community, including Meals on Wheels. He was a member of Delaware Baptist Church in Grove.
Survivors include one sister, Mary Lackey of Jay and one brother, Raymond McKinnis of Winfield, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Donald McKinnis, and one sister, Doris Frier.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 12 at Delaware Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Bishop officiating. Burial with military rites will be at 2 p.m. at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma.

RICHARD E. TALBOTT
1926-2005
COLCORD, Okla. - Richard E. Talbott, 79, died Monday, April 4 at his home in Colcord. He was born February 22, 1926 to Thornton S. and Maggie (Blochen) Talbott in Hominy, Oklahoma. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He worked in maintenance for the Colcord School District for many years. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Colcord.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Johnny Jackson, Roy "Tucker" Jackson, Juanita Kopp, and Wynema Garrison.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 8 at Allen Cemetery, Siloam Springs, Arkansas, with Larry Ellis officiating. Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Thursday April 7 at the funeral home.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma.

ROBERT E. STAPLETON
1928-2005
GROVE, Okla. - Robert E. Stapleton, 77, died Thursday, April 5 at his home in Grove. He was born February 11, 1928 at Odessa, Missouri to Elgin and Anna Belle (Whitworth) Stapleton. Robert was married to Virginia Hedden Brouard in Miami, Oklahoma on March 28, 1958. She preceded him in death on November 27, 1995. He then married Rita J. Stapleton on February 3, 2001 in Jay, Oklahoma.
Stapleton was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, and he served during World War II. He worked for Owens Corning Fiberglass and retired February 25, 1983. He was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Rita; two sons, Robert Stapleton and wife Karen and their two children of Bonner Springs, Kansas, and Jeff Stapleton of Kansas City, Missouri; two stepsons, Steve Miller of Kansas City, Missouri, and Stuart Miller of Muldrow, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law Shirley Brouard; four stepdaughters, Kathy Hewitt of Joplin, Missouri, Anita Tarter of Norfolk, Arkansas, Brenda Mathia of Jay, and Karen Tracy of Olathe, Kansas; three grandchildren; twenty step grandchildren; and twelve step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one stepson, Allen Brouard, one sister, Margaret Allen Renzelman; one brother, James Stapleton; and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9 at Worley-Luginbuel Chapel in Grove With Pastor Rick Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Zena Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma.

INNIE BLANCHE (FRYE) FOSTER
1920-2005
JAY, Okla. - Minnie Blanche (Frye) foster, age 84 of Jay, departed this life on Sat., April 2 in the Northwest Medical Center of Washington County in Springdale, Ark.
Minnie started this journey of life on April 28, 1920 in Berryville, Ark. born to the late James Ethridge and Edrithe Iola (Duncan) Allen. On June 1, 1935 she was united in marriage to Elmer Frye and to this union three sons and three daughters were born. She and Elmer spent fifty years together before his passing on Jan. 27, 1986.
Besides being hard working and devoted homemaker to her husband and family, she was also employed by the Southwest poultry plant for fifteen years. Later in life she married Raymon Foster in Nov. of 1987. Minnie had accepted Christ as her personal Lora and Savior early in her life and founded the Faith Pentecostal Church near Southwest City, Mo. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Elmer Frye, and Raymon Foster; a daughter Betty Mae Denny; sisters, Emma Allen, and Luella Brashar, and brothers, Chester and Eldon Allen.
Minnie is survived by three sons, Billy Dean Frye and wife Judy of Jay, Okla., George Michael Frye and wife Cindy of Southwest City, and Jacob Andrew Frye and wife Patricia of Jay; two daughters, Patricia Hill and husband Dustin of Goodman, Mo., and Phyllis Jean Ball of Joplin, Mo.; twenty-one grandchildren, and thirty-one great grandchildren; three brothers, Charles James Allen of Bonner Springs, Kan., Claudia Allen, Jr. of Wichita, Kan., and Bob Allen of Neosho, Mo.; two sisters, Kaybelle Henry of Talco, Texas, and Mattie Maude Bowers of Sapulpa, Okla.; several nieces and nephews as well as a host of family and friends.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m., Thurs., April 7 in the Cornerstone Church near Southwest City with Pastor Wesley Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in the Southwest City Cemetery. Josh Ball, David Allen, Steve Allen, Kevin Allen, John Butts, Donnie Denny, and Jason Potter will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Allan Denny, and Gary Denny. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening 4-7 p.m. in the Faith Pentecostal Church near Southwest City.
Memorial contributions are being directed to the Alzheimer’s Association and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Southwest City.

ROSA LEE "STINE" GOODELL
1944-2005
JAY, Okla. - Rosa Lee "Stine" Goodell, 60, of Jay, Oklahoma, was born July 18, 1944 in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Ray F. and Edith A. Rogers, and died April 1 at her home in Jay. She was a homemaker. She was united in marriage to David Goodell and he preceded her in death Oct 30, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Stine of Jay, and Jim Stine of Colcord, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Randy Stine, Robert Stine, James Stine Jr., Joshua Stine, Michelle Stine, Garrett Stine, and Desire Stine; three great grandchildren, Jordan Stine, Jessica Sine, and Madison Hill; and a sister, Rachel Moore of Phoenix, Arizona.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6 at the Elm Cemetery in Leach, Oklahoma, with Rev. Lonnie Sanders officiating.
Services are under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, Oklahoma.

KENNETH E. HILL
1923-2005
WYANDOTTE, Okla. - Kenneth E. Hill, longtime resident of rural Wyandotte, died at St. John’s Hospital in Joplin, Thurs., March 31 after an illness. He was 82.
Mr. Hill was born Jan. 5, 1923 at Miami, Okla. to Roland and Ola (Galimore) Hill. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during WWII, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from B.F. Goodrich, where his co-workers knew him as “Smokey, after 28 years. He was also self-employed as a farmer. He was of the Methodist faith and was an avid fisherman. He married Kathe Klein on April 21, 1947, Bruckmuehl, Germany. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons and their wives, Howard and Melissa Hill of Wyandotte, and Mark and Janet Hill of Fairland, Okla., a daughter, Helen Christie of Fairland, seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, a great grandchild, and three step-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Mon., April 4 at Adcock Chapel in Fairland with Elder Argel Gross officiating. Interment was in the Fairland Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by the Grove Veterans Ritual Team.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
Services were under the direction of Adcock Funeral Home.

LEO LANDRUM
1925-2005
JAY, Okla. - Leo Landrum, age 80, died Sat., April 2 at his home near Jay. The son of Hiarm and Bertha (Benigar) Landrum, he was born on Feb. 14, 1925 near Grove, Okla. Leo worked in construction most of his life. He also shoed horses and rodeoed. He worked the Delaware County commissioners. Leon was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include: a special friend, Juanita Russell, his children, Barry and Leona Allen, Jay; Jack and Lori Landrum of Ft. Gibson, Okla.; George Landrum, Jay; Robert and Shirley Blackwell, Jay; John and Sandy Landrum, Fairland, Okla.; Bill and Doris Landrum, Afton, Okla.; Robert and Shawna Cross, Inola, Okla; 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
The funeral was held Mon., April 4 at the graveside in the Buzzard Cemetery.
The services were under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

MARGARET L. MURRAY
1919-2005
GROVE, Okla. - Margaret L. Murray, 85, died Sunday, April 3 at her home in Grove. The daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Croyle) Lawson, she was born July 31, 1919, in Seward, Pennsylvania. Murray attended Independent Baptist Church and was a member of the Women's Missionary Society.
Survivors include her children, Bernard "Barney" Hankinson, Mary Densmore, and Ed Hankinson; one brother, Chuck Lawson; special niece, Mary Ellen Fisher; four grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, James Hankinson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6 at Independent Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Hughes officiating. Internment will follow at Buzzard Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma.
