GARY E. ARMSTRONG
1946-2005
JAY, Okla. - Gary E. Armstrong, 59, died Sunday, June 5, 2005 at his home in Jay.
He was born on March 26, 1946 in Jay, Ok. to Earl and Beulah (Masters) Armstrong.
Gary was a veteran of the United States Army and received a degree in aviation from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Ok. He married Julia “Judy” Jones on July 2, 1966 in Jay. Gary was a licensed pilot for thirty-four years and worked as a pilot for Peterson Farms. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle.
Survivors include his wife, Judy of Jay; his children, Gary Armstrong II and Amy Heard and her husband Jimmy Ray all of Jay; two granddaughters, Tegan and Taryn; four brothers, Wayne Armstrong of Vinita, Alvin Armstrong of Jay, Bob Armstrong of Johnson City, Tennessee and Jim Armstrong of Ponca City, Ok.; two sisters, Retha Johnsen of Tucson, Arizona and Mary Meader of Claremore. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara Long.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at Mt Hermon Church with Rev. James Bryant and Rev. Terry Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mt Hermon Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma.

W. MARK ROARK
1968-2005
W. Mark Roark, 37 of Vinita passed away late Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the OU Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City with his family at his side after an extended illness. Mark was born on January 28, 1968 in Claremore to David L. and Cherye E. (Haner) Roark.
Mark worked for various local ranches. He attended Bunker Hill Baptist Church and loved his children and a great friend to all that knew him. On June 17, 1995 Mark was united in marriage to Wendy M. Williams at Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
Those surviving include his wife Wendy Roark of the home. Children Malorie Bartgis, Cole Roark and Hannah Roark all of the home. Parents David and Cherye Roark of Claremore. Sisters; Judy Whitmire of Tulsa, Paula Jackson also of Tulsa, and Lori Sturgess and husband Jay of Welch. Sixteen nieces and nephews. Paternal grandparents Bob and Gordyna Roark of Claremore. Maternal grandmother Ella Dean Martin of Chelsea. Mother-in-law and father-in-law Mike and Anne Williams of Centralia.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather art Harner.
The family request that in lieu of flower donations may be made to the National Bone Morrow Foundation.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at 10 a.m. at the Bunker Hill Baptist church with Pastor Skip McClain officiating. Burial will follow at the Haner Cemetery at 3 p.m. in Locust Grove.
Arrangements are under the direction of Burkhalter Funeral Home of Vinita.

ROSS CARPENTER
1911-2005
Ross Carpenter, Sr., 93, passed away early Saturday morning, June 4, 2005 at the Chelsea Nursing Home Center in Chelsea, Oklahoma.
Ross was born to Benjamin and Angeline (Dick) Carpenter on July 3, 1911 at White Oak, Oklahoma.
Ross farmed for many years in the Chelsea and White Oak area. He married Nedith Gibson on August 16, 1934 in Tulsa. He was a lifelong member of the Native American Church as well as a life long resident of Northeast Oklahoma.
Preceding Ross in death were his parents, his wife Nedith on December 7, 1980; his sons Anthony Carpenter on December 7, 1991 and Ross Carpenter, Jr. on December 1, 2001. Also preceding him in death were three sisters; Grace Dale, Mami Secondine and Violet Hunt; five brothers; George Carpenter, William Carpenter, Rainey Carpenter, Leonard carpenter and Kenneth Carpenter.
Surviving Mr. carpenter are his daughter Laverne Stone of Tulsa, sons; John Carpenter of Chelsea, Meredith Carpenter of Lamar, Arkansas, Ronald Carpenter of Tulsa and Paul Carpenter of White Oak. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
There will be a family visitation at Burckhalter Memorial chapel in Vinita at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005 with Chiefy Tiger officiating. Casket bearers will be Mr. Carpenter’s grandsons; Fred Carpenter, Gregg Carpenter, Doug Carpenter, Brian Carpenter, Micheal Carpenter, Jacob Carpenter and Clifton Carpenter.
Interment will follow at the Lewis Shawnee Cemetery, White Oak, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are by Burckhalter Funeral Home of Vinita.

LESLIE “ LES” GLEN LOWRY
1952-2005
Mr. Leslie Glenn Lowry, age 52 of Jay, Oklahoma was laid to rest in Christ, June 3, 2005 at his home after a long hard fight with an inoperable malignant brain tumor.
Leslie was born on December 6, 1952 to Lester and Retha Lowry. He grew up in Jay and graduated from the Jay High School in 1971. Leslie worked for the Grove Municipal Services Authority for over 17 years and then he worked for the Williams Company until his illness. Les loved to go camping and canoeing, golfing and was a member of the Elks Lodge, VFW and the Moose Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Retha Lowry and a brother Johnny Lowry. He is survived by his loving wife and care giver, Marvina, two sisters; Linda and husband Mike Poynor of Grove, Oklahoma; Pat and husband Doyle Wofford of Conroe, Texas; two brothers, Ernie and wife Anita Lowry and Wendell and wife Velma Lowry all of Grove, Oklahoma. Les also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins who will dearly miss him. During Les’ illness he found comfort in reading the daily devotions from the upper room and to have the Bible read to him. Les, I will miss your kindness and gentle ways, you were a true loving husband and my best friend.
Graveside services for Leslie will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Herman Cemetery in Jay, Oklahoma, the Reverend Dolphus Blevins will officiate. The song selections will be “Amazing Grace” and “What A Day That Will Be” by Dolphus Blevins and Debbie Stogsdill. Psalm 138 will be read by his nephew Michael Huggins. Memorial contributions can be given to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the personal care of Walker-Dowd Funeral Home, of Anderson, Mo.

ALEXA GALE MCCOIN
2005-2005
Alexa Gale McCain, infant daughter of Eddie and Teresa (Williams) McCoin, Afton, Oklahoma, passed aware at 7:53 Friday morning, June 3, 2005 at Craig General Hospital in Vinita, Oklahoma.
Her survivors include her parents, grandparents, Gloria McCoin of Afton and Louis and Gale Cox of Waynesville, Mo.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, June 6, 2005 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Afton, OK. Reverend Wade Markum will officiate.
Services are under the direction of Roland Akcock, Adcock Funeral Home, Afton, Oklahoma.

MARGUERITE RICKETTS
1910-2005
Marguerite Ricketts, resident of Fairland, dies at Family Care Center in Fairland, Saturday evening, June 4, 2005, after an illness. She was 94. She was born September 5, 1910 at Calumet, Oklahoma to Frank and Minnie Fredrick Hansen. She married Loren Ricketts in September 1928 at Tecumseh, Oklahoma. They moved to the Fairland area in 1970, coming from Tulsa. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fairland. She is survived by a son and his wife, David and Idea Ricketts, and a daughter ad her husband, Dolores and Bus Crabtree, all of Fairland, a sister, Golda Bell, of Houston, Texas, two grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at Fairland Cemetery at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005 with Rev. Andy Krebs officiating. Arrangements provided by Adcock Funeral Home in Fairland.

JANE E. WITTE
1934-2005
Jane E. Witte of Miami died at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, June 2, 2005 at her home after a long illness. She was 71.
Ms. White was born February 20, 1934 at Miami to Lawrence Franklin and Thelma Ruby (DeMier) Trimble. She had been a sewing machine operator for the Glenn-Berry Company and also the Burlington Manufacturing Co., and later worked for Outdoor Cap Company. She had also attended the Welch hospital Nursing program and was a graduated nurses aide. She had graduated from High School at the Wyandotte High School.
Ms. Witte was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, she was saved on May 1, 1976, and baptized on May 9, 1976 (mother’s day that year). She married Paul Witte, Sr. on January 25, 1954 at the Long Assembly of God Church Parsonage, he preceded her in death on June 16, 2003.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Witte, Tulsa; four cons, Paul R. Witte, Jr. and his wife Sheila, Kenneth W. Witte and his wife Amelia, Mark A. Witte and his wife Robin all of Miami and Greg J. Witte and his friend Kay Culley of Welch, 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her father and mother and two brothers, David MeMier Trimble and James Trimble and a sister Patricia E. Cullens.

WILLIAM “BILL” EARNEST ATKINSON
1910-2005
William “Bill” Earnest Atkinson, 95 of Vinita passed away late Wednesday evening June 1, 2005 at the Veteran’s center in Claremore. Bill was born on February 21, 1910 in Hibbing, Minnesota to Claude and Ida Mae Atkinson.
Bill loved to read and work crossword puzzles. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Vinita. A member of the V.F.W. post in Tulsa and served on the funeral detail for 10 years and also was Jr. Commander. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on a submarine. He was also a 32nd degree Mason. On November 2, 1943 in Seattle, Washington, Bill was united in Marriage to Kathleen Giles.
Bill leaves as surviving his loving wife of 62 years Kathleen Atkinson of Vinita. Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Bill was preceded in death by both parents, one brother and two sisters.
Services will be held on Monday, June 6, 2005at 2 p.m. at the Burckhalter Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bruce Butler officiating. Burial is to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Vinita with military honors by the Grove Veterans Ritual Team. Serving as casket bearers will be Ronnie Watkins, Jim Watkins, Jeff Waldrop, Johnny Giles, Roy Dean Giles, and Don Giles. Honorary bearers are members of the V.F.W.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Burckhalter Funeral Home in Vinita.

RALPH M. CLARK
1937-2005
Grove, Ok. – Ralph M. Clark, 68, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at Integris Grove General Hospital.
Ralph Marvin Clark was born on January 3, 1937 in Moline, Illinois to Ralph Marion and Eva (Corwin) Clark. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserve. Ralph married Betty Briscoe on June 8, 1976 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked for Lockheed Aircraft as a material representative. Ralph moved to Grove in 1992 from Palm Dale, Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Grove; three children, Ken Clark of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tom Clark of Lancaster, California and Ron Clark of Saugas, California; three stepchildren, Steve Lang and Sue Lang both of Lancaster, California and Gerry Ann Cser of Palm Springs, California; fourteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma.

BERNIECE V. GAULT
1914-2005
Grove, Ok. – Berniece V. Gault died Thursday, June 2, 2005 at Integris Grove General Hospital. She was born August 15, 1914 in Seneca, Missouri to Albert and Laura Setterstrom. Berniece married Orin H. Gault on February 3, 1934 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1975. Berniece was employed by Carter Oil Company and later transferred to Exxon Oil Company in Tulsa in the accounting department for twenty-three years before retiring in 1965. She moved to Grove in 1969 from Tulsa. Berniece was very fond of animals. She was a member of First Christian Church in Grove.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2005 at First Christian Church with Dr. Wayne Shaw officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery, Tulsa. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, Grove.
