COLUMBUS, Kan. – Louise Arlint, 80, of Columbus, died at 1:15 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at the St. Johns-Maude Norton Memorial Hospital in Columbus after an illness.
She was born May 1, 1926 in rural Weir, Kan. To Orville and Ethel Selby Napier. She was reared by her stepfather and mother, Tony and Ethel Selby Napier Martin in rural Scammon, Kan.
She had been a resident of Cherokee County all of her life. She attended Weir schools.
She worked for Dr. Stanley Davis and the Columbus School System. She was a member of the St. Bridgets Catholic Church in Scammon.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Danny Abram of Columbus; two grandchildren, Martin “Marty” Abram and Stephanie Price, both of Garner, Kan. and five great grandchildren; four brothers, Tom Martin of Tulsa, Okla., Harold Napier of Pittsburg, Kan., Allen Napier of Franklin, Kan., Vernon Napier of Mulberry, Kan.; five sisters, Ilene Turner and Wanda Endicott, both of Grove, Okla., Tracie Napier of Pittsburg, Kan., Margaret McGuire of Fairland, Okla., and Jeanie Culp of West Mineral, Kan.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Napier, Harold Martin and Fred Martin.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 6, at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Columbus, with Father Chystostom Ah Maung officiating. Burial will be in the Park Cemetery in Columbus. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Friday, May 5, at the Simpson Funeral Home in Columbus. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society (breast cancer fund). Online condolences may be left at www.columbus-kansas.com/simpson.

BERNICE KEENER BERGMAN
1920-2006
PRYOR - Funeral Mass for Bernice Keener Bergman, 79, of Pryor, Okla., will be held on Thursday, May 11, at 11 a.m., at St. Mark Catholic Church. Father Ken Harder and Father Celestine Obidiegwu will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at Double Springs Cemetery, in Tahlequah, Okla. Services are entrusted to Stephens Memorial Chapel.
Bernice was born January 11, 1920 in Van Buren, Ark., she passed away on May 9, 2006.
Bernice moved to Pryor in 1984 from Tulsa, Okla. She had worked as an OB Technician at St. Francis Hospital prior to her retirement. She was married to Barney Bergman on June 11, 1984 in Miami, Okla. Bernice was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, making quilts and cooking. Her grandchildren meant very much to her and she would never miss one of her grandson’s baseball games.
Bernice is survived by: her husband, Barney of the home; one son Billy Paul Keener and wife Eula Mae of Tulsa; daughter Naomi Campbell of Tulsa; daughter Mary Foster of Cedar Crest; daughter Bamah Cochran and husband Leon of Jay, Okla.; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents John C and Roxie L. (Stephens) Brown, her first husband Willis “Bill” Keener, one daughter Jeanie Long, one grandchild, two sisters, and three brothers.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, May 10, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the Rosary following at 7 p.m., at Stephens Memorial Chapel.

JIMMIE CHARLES BILBY, Sr.
1925-2006
SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Jimmie Charles Bilby, Sr., 81 year-old resident of Siloam Springs, died April 6, 2006, at Northwest Regional Medical Center in Springdale, Ark.
Born February 18, 1925 in Oklahoma City, Okla., he was the son of George Bilby and Eura Mae Roberts Bilby. He was owner/operator of Bilby’s Foods and Bilby Real Estate and worked in home improvements. He enjoyed photography and computers. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, West Siloam Springs, Okla. On January 16, 1946, he married Kathryn Akers in Plainview, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn of the home; three sons, Charles Bilby and wife Carolyn of Siloam Springs, Leroy Bilby and wife Johnetta of Gentry, Ark., and Mike Bilby and wife Tootie of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two daughters, Georgia Bilby of Tenkiller, Okla., and Peggy Harper of Tulsa, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 10, 2006, at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs with Dr. A.P. Vohs officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs.

CHESTER LEE BISHOP
1928-2006
CLAREMORE, Okla. – Chester Lee Bishop, formerly of Claremore, passed from this life on February 19, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla.
Chester was born on October 15, 1928 at Jay, Okla., the son of Fred Bishop and Iva Mae Lackey Bishop who both preceded him in death.
Chester was married on May 27, 1948, to Mildred Joan Peek and to this union three sons were born: Ronald Eugene Bishop, deceased; Jimmy Leon Bishop of Tahlequah, Okla.; and Freddy Dewayne Bishop of Korea. His wife, Mildred, survives of the home on Grand Lake.
He had one brother, Edward Bishop, deceased; two sisters, Maxine Wilmore of Kansas City, Mo., and Dorothy Meadows, deceased; six grandchildren, Samuel Landis Bishop of Denver, Colo., Jessie Bishop of Indianapolis, Ind., Amy Nichole Bishop of Tulsa, Jason Wade Bishop of Muskogee, Okla., Sgt. Ronnie Bishop, USAF currently stationed in New Jersey, Joshua Bishop of Korea; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and close friends.
Chester worked for American Airlines as an aircraft mechanic for 30 years, retiring in 1983 at which time he and Mildred moved to Zena, Okla.
Services will be held at the Faith Mission Church in Jay on Thursday, February 23, at 11 a.m. Brother Chester Crittenden will officiate. The family has entrusted Turner Funeral Home, 311 W. Gray, Jay, for arrangements. Burial will be in the Indianola Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Turner Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 22, from 5 to 6 p.m.

FAYE RYAN-BISHOP
1947-2006
JAY - Faye Ryan-Bishop, 58, died Friday, March 24, 2006 at SouthCrest Hospital, Tulsa, Okla.
Faye was born June 4, 1947 at Kansas, Okla. to Curley Snell and Ruby Pearl (Noe) Snell. She grew up in Kansas and graduated high school there in 1965. She attended Bacone College, Muskogee, Okla. Faye was a meat and poultry inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), working out of the Jay, Okla. office for 33 years. She retired in 2003 and enjoyed being a full-time grandma. Faye was a resident of the Kansas/Jay area all her life and was active in the Kansas High School Alumni Association. She loved being with her sisters and family and traveling with them.
Survivors include her husband, Ken of the home; four sons, James Edward Kingfisher and his girlfriend, Becky of Springdale, Ark., Rodney Lynn Kingfisher and his wife, Becky of Jay, Duwayne Bishop and his wife, Stacy of Jay and Kevin Bishop and his wife, Lisa, also of Jay; four brothers, Curtis Snell and his wife, Leetha of Rose, Okla., Douglas Snell and his wife, Clarene of Tulsa, Okla., Jerry David Snell and his wife, Cheryl of Colcord, Okla. and Dennis Snell and his wife, Debbie of Tahlequah, Okla.; three sisters, Loretta Smith of Jay, Susie Catron and her husband, Vesper of Kansas, Okla. and Phyllis Hathcoat of Tahlequah; twelve grandchildren, Brandon J., Blake E. and Austin L. Kingfisher, Christopher, Sierra, Ashton, Haleigh and Kaden Kingfisher and Stephen, Lindsey, Bailey and Gage Bishop. She was preceded in death by her parents and by one, brother, Wyley Joe Snell and one sister, Bertha Snell.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, at Lowery Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Lance Rogers officiating. Interment will be in Long Prairie Cemetery, west of Kansas, Okla. under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday, March 27, at Worley-Luginbuel Chapel in Jay.

GARY A. BLAIR
1939-2006
MIAMI – Gary A. Blair, a lifetime resident of Miami, Okla., died at St. John’s Regional Health Center in Joplin, Mo. Monday afternoon, March 13, 2006. He was 66. Gary was born December 15, 1939, to Jay and Mildred (Taylor) Blair, at Miami. He was a member of the Cherokee Nation. He was a veteran, having served in both the U.S. Navy and Army. He was retired from the Miami Housing Authority. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and an avid golfer and member of the Peoria Ridge Golf Club. He loved to help people in need, and continued to do so through death, by donating his corneas.
He is survived by: a daughter and her husband, Ronda and Freddy Drawbaugh of Ada, Okla.; a brother and his wife, Michael and Shirley Blair of Miami; a sister, Norma Gayle Harrison of Norman, Okla.; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a very special friend, Maye Culley, of the home. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March, 16, at First Baptist Church Miami, with Rev. Rick Longerier officiating. The family will receive friends at the home. The body has been cremated. Services are provided by Adcock Funeral Home in Fairland. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Arthritis Foundation, in care of the funeral home.

LAURA BOLES
1920-2006
ANDERSON, Mo. - Laura Pearl Boles died Saturday March 11, 2006 at the McDonald County Nursing Home at Anderson, Mo. She was 84.
Laura was born May 15, 1920 to Walter and Annie (Karnes) Crippen at Barnsdall, Okla. She married Paul Boles in 1939 at Tulsa, Okla. He preceded her in death November 11, 2004. She was a homemaker and was a great cook. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Mae Boles; two sisters; and five brothers.
Survivors include: one daughter, Barbara Baker and husband Harold of Pineville, Mo.; one brother, Jessie Crippen and wife Carol of Miami, Okla.; five grandchildren, Paul Hopkins, Brian Hopkins, and Rick Hopkins; and five great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday March 15, at the Collinsville Cemetery in Collinsville, Okla., Jerry Seigel to officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Okla.

ALMA MAE BORTMES
1932-2006
GROVE – Alma Mae Bortmes, 73, died Saturday morning, March 18, 2006 at Integris Grove General Hospital in Grove, Okla.
Alma was born May 27, 1932 at Tulsa, Okla. to Brack Butler and Meda (Simpson) Butler. She grew up in Skiatook, Okla. and on August 30, 1950, married Keith W. Bortmes at Stillwater, Okla. The couple lived in Tulsa for most of their lives, until his retirement from American Airlines. They moved to Grove in 1983. Mr. Bortmes preceded his wife in death November 5, 1993. Alma was a member of the Open Door Church in Tulsa and enjoyed line dancing.
Survivors are: her daughters, Vicki Gramolini and husband Dr. Gary Gramolini, of Tulsa and Sharon Lacey and husband Odis, of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Jimmy Butler and his wife Shirley, of Oologah, Okla. and Ronald Butler and his wife Roselle of Hillsboro, Texas; one sister, Rosalie Coffey of Alamo, Texas; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 25, at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

ALEXIS SKENAY’AH BURROUGHS
1991-2006
GROVE - Alexis Skenay’ah Burroughs of Grove, Okla., died Sunday March 12, 2006 in a traffic accident near Pampa, Texas. She was 14.
Miss Burroughs was born March 28, 1991 at Woodward, Okla. to Randy and Carole (Killion) Burroughs. She had been a life long resident of Grove and was a member of the 9th Grade Class of the Grove High School. She was active in Civic and school activities.
Alexis was a member of the Future Business Leaders of American, Family Career Community Leaders of America, Native American Performing Arts Troupe, and Student Council Reporter, a member of the Indian Heritage Club, and the Speech and Drama Club, and a member of the Long House Religion.
Survivors include: her parents Randy and Carole Burroughs of Grove; a sister, Amber Michelle Burroughs of Six Nations Reservation, Canada; a niece Bo Alexis Jacobs of Six Nations Reservation, Canada; her paternal grandparents Phillips and Janet Burroughs of Miami; her adopted grandmother Susie Nuckolls of Wyandotte; and her Godparents, Stanley and Maria Western of Bartlesville.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Claude Howard Killion.
Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 16, at the Council House Cemetery with the Tribal Speaker Ronnie White officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of the Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home of Miami.
Pallbearers will be Mark Burroughs, Austin Schmidt, Drew Ericson, Kessler Jacobs, Michael Marling, and Casey Merciez.
The wake will be held at the family home, 614 West 5th Street, Grove from 1 p.m. Tuesday until 1 p.m. Thursday

GARY CARNEY
1944-2006
GROVE, Okla. – Gary Carney, 61, died Monday, January 9, 2006 at Integris Grove General Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 12, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Grove with Rev. Randy Hamill officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at Ellis Funeral Home, Grove.
Gary Carney was born on July 20, 1944 in Dallas, Texas to Francis and Bessie (Bogard) Carney. He graduated from Blackwell High School in 1962 and received his Bachelors Degree from Wichita State University. Gary obtained his Masters Degree in Liberal Studies from the University of Oklahoma. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam era. Gary worked for Texaco Oil Co. for twenty-five years as a Senior Crew Representative. He previously worked for Boeing and DX/Sunray in Wichita.
Gary was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grove, the Oklahoma Archeology Society, the Oklahoma independent Petroleum Association, the VFW and the American Legion. Gary lived in Belle Plain, Kansas, Mulvane, Kansas, Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Oklahoma City before moving to Grove two years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Carney of Grove; one son, David Carney of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Cyndi Kingfisher and husband, Ronnie of Wyandotte, Ok; one granddaughter, Kyah Kingfisher of Wyandotte; two sisters, Frances Shoffner and husband, Wayne of Braman, Ok. and Barbara Tabor and husband Jack of Edmond, Ok; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services are entrusted to Ellis Funeral Home, 107 S. Broadway, Grove, Ok. 74344, 918-786-5172.
