JAMES WILLARD WELLS
1928-2006
VINITA, Okla. - James Willard Wells, 77 year-old lifetime Vinita resident, passed away Friday, October 20, 2006 at Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville, Okla.
Willard was born December 9, 1928 in Vinita, Oklahoma to Harrison and Josephine (Funk) Wells.
Willard was very active in the community. He served as a City Councilman for 27 years, was on the Girl Scouts Council, a member of the Chamber of Commerce and worked with many other civic organizations. He was an avid gardener, liked to bake pies and never missed a Vinita ball game. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
His parents and his brother Roscoe Wells preceded him in death.
Survivors include his sister Jane Bachman of Bartlesville and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 24, at the Burckhalter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Henry “Skip” McClain of Bunker Hill Baptist church officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Earl Grumbien, L.D. King, James McCallie, Frank Brown, Wayne Inman, Joe Johnson and Bill Copeland. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Roy Miller and Oliver Woolman. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Vinita.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Burckhalter Funeral Home of Vinita.

DAVID HARVEY ADAMS, Sr.
1942-2006
GROVE, Okla. – David Harvey Adams, Sr., 64, beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend to all, passed away in Wichita, Kan. on November 13, 2006 after a short fight with cancer.
David was retired from the Boeing Company and lived in Grove. David loved to fish and spend time with his family. David was proud of the home improvements he made to his beloved lake-house. David was proud to be a caregiver to others and encouraged his children to do the same. David was known for his consideration, patience, and unconditional love for others. David loved life and all that life brought to him. David was the “rock” for his family and he was proud to share his strength with them. David’s family gave his life meaning and provided him the strength to fight the good fight. He will be dearly missed by his family and all his friends.
His parents, Paul and Edna Adams; sister, JoAnn Adams and brother-in-law, Ed Lunsford, preceded him in death.
David is survived by: his wife, Jane Adams; children and their spouses, David and Kelly Adams Jr., Doug and Julie Adams, Chris and Jennifer Call, and Amy and Chad Moren; sister, Alice Stout; and six grandchildren, Nicole, Madison, Bobbie, Sydney, Devin and Sabrina.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 18, at Baker Funeral Home, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center, Kan. Memorials are designated to the Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202.

IDORA SUE CAVE
1925-2006
GROVE, Okla. – Idora Sue Cave, 80, died Monday, November 13, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Sue was born December 26, 1925 at Yale, Okla., to Ray Burden and Jewel (Gentry) Burden. Mr. Burden was an oil pumper and the family followed his work. Sue spent much of her early years in Jennings, Okla. and graduated high school there. After her father retired, the family moved to Sapulpa, Okla. There she met and later married Edward Cave on February 1, 1958. Sue worked for the Bartlett Collins glass plant in Sapulpa. She and Ed later owned a Tastee-Freez in Skiatook, Okla. from 1956 to 1967. The Cave’s moved back to Sapulpa for 18 years before coming to Grove in 1981. Sue was a member of the Grove First Christian Church and had been a member of the Cherry Reds at Integris Grove General Hospital. She was a former member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship at Linden Street Christian Church of Sapulpa. Sue loved dancing and music, especially by the Gaither’s. She did needlework and enjoyed her grandchildren and friends.
She is survived by: her husband, Ed, of the home; two daughters, Nancy Sue Phillips of Grove and Lisa Holloway and her husband, Jack of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Pat Burden of Lindsay, Okla.; five grandchildren, Danny Phillips of Catoosa, Okla., Connie Phillips of Grove and Grace, Samantha and Claire Holloway, all of Grove and two great-grandsons, Shelby and Trevor Phillips of Sapulpa. Sue was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Raymond Burden.
Funeral service was held Friday, November 17, at the Grove First Christian Church with Dr. Wayne Shaw officiating. Committal service was Friday at South Heights Cemetery in Sapulpa, under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

RANDALL LEE O’FIELD
1963-2006
JAY, Okla. – Randall Lee O’Field, 43, died Thursday, November 30, 2006 at Saint Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Okla.
Randall was born February 25, 1963 at Claremore, Okla. to Robert O’Field and Patsy (Hogshooter) O’Field. He was a lifelong resident of the Jay area, operating a forklift at Tyson Foods Incorporated for the past 18 years. Randall loved to play sports, and was especially good at softball. He was an avid watcher of Denver Bronco and Oklahoma Sooner football. Randall liked to watch all of his family’s children. He was a member of Round Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors are: his wife, Kim of the home; three children, Brandi and Brea Lashbrook and his buddy, Trenton Lashbrook; one sister, Mary Pritchett and her husband, Larry of Jay; four brothers, Don O’Field and his wife, Billy Jean of Kansas, Okla., Wendell O’Field and his wife, Kelly, Robert O’Field, Jr. and his wife, Tara, all of Jay and Ivan O’Field of Texas. Randall was preceded in death by his parents; by a niece, Lakken Smith in 2005 and a nephew, Caleb Sims in 1998.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 5, at Jay’s First Baptist Church with interment at Round Springs Cemetery in Eucha, Okla., under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay.
Visitation will be at the funeral home, Monday, 6-8 p.m.

RUBY MAXINE PATTISON
1932-2006
CHELSEA, Okla. - Services for Ruby Maxine Pattison will be at 11 a.m., Tues., Dec. 5, 2006 at Chelsea First Baptist Church. Rev. Gerald Biswell will share words of comfort. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Friends may visit Mon. at the funeral home from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. with the family there to receive visitors from 6 p.m.– 8 p.m.
Maxine passed away Thurs., Nov. 30, 2006. She was 74.
Born in Catale, Okla. on April 25, 1932, to Champ and Ethel Victory Copeland, Maxine received her education at Chelsea.
On Aug. 26, 1950, Maxine and Leroy Pattison were married. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Vera and Lela. Finding rural Chelsea to be the ideal location for Leroy’s dairy ranch and for raising their family, Maxine and Leroy made this community their home throughout the years.
Maxine was an immaculate housekeeper, and an excellent cook, and caring for her family was her first priority. Family favorites included her hot rolls, spaghetti and deviled eggs, which delighted her children and grandchildren alike. Family dinners often ended with a friendly dispute over who would take home the leftover hot rolls. She made most of the girls’ clothes while they were younger and even their wedding dresses were lovingly sewn by her skillful hands. Her creative skills extended to crocheted items also and she made decorative bedspreads, tablecloths and doilies to beautify her home.
A faithful member of First Baptist Church, Maxine immersed herself in scripture study. Reading her Bible brought her great strength and joy.
A wonderful homemaker, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Maxine’s heritage was her family. Those who survive are: her daughters, Vera Yirsa and her husband Blaine, of Grove, Okla. and Lela Young and her husband, Roy, of Chelsea; her grandchildren who lovingly called her “GaGa,” Matt Young of Vian, Mark Young and his wife, Laura, of Claremore, Stephanie Prusa and her husband Jeff, of Kansas City, and Alison Yirsa and Cynthia Yirsa, both of Grove; her great granddaughters, Morgan Sowersby, Amarah and Gabrielle Young of Claremore; her brother, Gene Copeland and his wife, Leona, of Chelsea; her sisters Betty Dick and her husband, Ray, of Collinsville and Edna Mae Moore of Bentonville, Ark.; brothers-in-law, Robert Pattison of Norcross, Ga., and Homer Pattison and his wife, Alma, of Sanctuary, Colo.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leroy, her brother Jesse Nelson, and her stepsister Lorene Ball.

TERRY LEE STICK
1966-2006
KENWOOD, Okla. – Terry Lee Stick, 40, died Wednesday morning, November 29, 2006 at his home in Kenwood.
Terry was born May 18, 1966 at Gravette, Ark. to Bobby Stick and Maggie (Tehee) Stick. Terry was a life long resident of the Kenwood area, attending Jay Schools. He was a member of Round Springs Baptist Church. Terry enjoyed people and loved to fish.
Survivors are: three brothers, Tommy Stick of Kenwood, Cullus Buck of Eucha, Okla., and Daryl Buck, also of Kenwood; two sisters, Sheila Proctor and Frona Harry, both of Jay, Okla.; one aunt, Dorothy Youngbird of Kansas, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service was held Monday, December 4, at First Baptist Church of Jay. Interment was in Cloud Creek Cemetery, south of Jay, under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay.

JAMES GEORGE WINCHESTER
1931-2006
GROVE, Okla. – James George Winchester, 75, died early Friday morning, December 1, 2006, at Integris Grove General Hospital.
James was born September 24, 1931 at Monticello, Ky. to Sam Winchester and Molly (Gross) Winchester. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. James married Arvella Gray Winchester on June 18, 1955 at Newcastle, Ind. The Winchester family moved from Indiana to Grove in 1963. Mrs. Winchester preceded her husband in death in 1982. James worked for Peterson Farms of Decatur, Ark. and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Gravette, Ark. He loved to hunt and fish and visiting with friends.
Survivors include: three sons, Tommy Winchester of Jay, Okla., Joe Ed Winchester of Gravette, and Terry Eugene Winchester of Texas; three brothers, Sammy Winchester of Indianapolis, Ind., Johnny Winchester of Newcastle, Ind. and Gene Wyatt Winchester of Cassville, Mo.; three sisters, Martha Lemieux of Tampa, Fla., Bonnie Kyle of Mingo, Fla. and Angie Davison of Tennessee; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Along with his wife, James was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Cecil and Jeffery Winchester; two sisters, Margaret Ford and Ruth Arms and by two brothers, Tommy and Joe Winchester.
Funeral services were Wednesday, November 22, at the United Pentecostal Church of Gravette, with Pastor James Woolard officiating. Interment will was in Olympus Cemetery of Grove, under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home.

RICHARD ALLEN BAUM
1947–2006
GROVE, Okla. - Richard Allen Baum, 59-year-old Grove resident, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2006 in Grove.
“Rick” was born May 7, 1947 in Chicago, Ill. to Rolley Layton Baum and Violet Rose (Scesney) Baum. He attended and graduated high school in Canoga Park, Calif.
Rick was united in marriage to JoAnn Charpentier on January 3, 1980 in Reno, Nev. Rick and JoAnn worked together as long haul Truckers.
Rick is survived by: his wife JoAnn of the home; his mother, Violet Rose Baum of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; two sisters; Kathy Burns of Thousand Oaks and Barb Ford and husband William of West Hills, Calif.; three brothers, Bob Baum of Lake Forrest, Calif., Tom Baum and wife Toni of Moore Park, Calif., and Butch Baum and wife Elaine of Mariposa, Calif.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial gathering of friends and family from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Saturday, December 9, at the Turner Funeral Chapel, 722 N.W. 46th Street, Grove.

BENNY ED CLAXTON
1947-2006
GROVE, Okla. – Benny Ed Claxton, 59, died following an extended illness, Wednesday night, December 6, 2006 at his home in Grove with his family at his side.
Benny was born November 8, 1947 in Enid, Okla. to Benny Carlton Claxton and Anita Beth (Murphy) Claxton. He attended schools in Enid and Wichita, Kan. before moving to Grove in 1964 with his family. He graduated from Grove High School in 1966 and served his country in the U.S. Army as a member of the 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam from 1967-1969.
Benny was united in marriage to Donna Myrene Fields on March 27, 1969 at Dodge Baptist Church, east of Grove. He enjoyed his family and friends and had a wonderful sense of humor. Benny could always laugh at himself and with others. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, working with his cattle and living the rural country life.
Survivors include: his wife of 37 years, Myrene, of the home; his son, Heath Michael Claxton of Grove; a sister, Shirley Cooper and her husband, Warren of Nixa, Mo.; his mother-in-law, Donna Fields of Grove; brother-in-law, Keith Fields and his wife, Kay of Grove; nieces, Terri Pribeck and Denni Jones and nephew, Tim Cooper; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-father, Patrick Smith; his father-in-law, James Earl Fields; his grandparents and aunts and uncles.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 9, at Dodge Baptist Church, six miles east of Grove on South 690 Road with Pastor Sam Carper officiating. Interment will be in Fields Cemetery, located one mile south of the church, under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove. Visitation will be held Friday, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Family suggests those who wish can make donations to the Good Shepherd Hospice. Donations may be left with Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home. Family and friends may send condolences by viewing obituaries at www.honoringmemories.com.
