Verna Mae DeHart

Verna Mae DeHart of Denison, Texas, died Sunday in Denison. She was 82.

She was born Feb. 8, 1918, in Shawnee, the daughter of John and Kathryn (Denson) Gordon.

Mrs. DeHart, who moved to Denison five years ago from Shawnee, worked for the Shawnee Public School system for 30 years.

She married Charles Dennis DeHart on Aug. 15, 1940, in Shawnee.

Mrs. DeHart was a member of the East Main Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son, Wayne DeHart.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jani DeHart, Oklahoma City; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bud Caldwell, Bella Vista, Alaska; four grandchildren, Kelli Littlehead, Edmond, Scott DeHart, Ponca City, Chris Caldwell, Bella Vista, Alaska, and Linden DeHart, Oklahoma City; and two friends, Ruth Longsine and Roberta Allen.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery with Don Sullivan officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Home Hospice, P.O. Box 2306, Sherman, Texas, 75091.

Mary Ellen Pernicka

Mary Ellen Pernicka died Sunday in Prague. She was 81.

She was born Sept. 18, 1919, in Prague, the daughter of John and Marie (Simecek) Krajicek. She had been a resident of Prague most of her life.

Mrs. Pernicka was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Prague.

She married George Pernicka on Jan. 31, 1947. He preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1992.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Survivors include one brother and his wife, Eddie and Ruth Ann Krajicek, Sapulpa; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Elsie and Vernon Holasek, Oklahoma City; Ann Stastny, Prague, and Betty and Charles Franks, Oklahoma City; one sister-in-law, Laverna Kraicek, Del City; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Czech National Cemetery with the Rev. Adrian Vorderlanwehr, O.S.B., officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Prague.

Casey Willis Hennigh

Casey Willis Hennigh of Tecumseh died Sunday in Shawnee. He was 42.

Hennigh was born Oct. 31, 1958, in Shawnee to Marvin and Barbara (Williams) Hennigh. He graduated from Maud High School in 1976, and worked in the oil field for several years.

Survivors include his mother, Barbara Hennigh, Tecumseh; two sons, Jeremy Hennigh and Cody Hennigh; granddaughter, Kinsey Hennigh; sister, Joy (Hennigh) Foster; two brothers, Perry Hennigh and Troy Hennigh; two nephews, Jason Montgomery Foster and Daniel Foster; three nieces, Carmencia Hennigh, Misha Hennigh and Tabitha Hennigh; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Hennigh, two grandfathers and one grandmother.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home with Doyle Loveland officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Julia Renora Johnson

Julia Renora Johnson died Saturday. She was 91.

Mrs. Johnson was born March 31, 1909, in Yant, Okla., to John and Mary Ann Gilbreath Fisher. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Jake and Treba Fisher, Meeker; sisters, Sarah Moore, Harrah, and Georgia Spencer, Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.S.P. Johnson; sisters, Edna Smith and Agnes Gaunt; and brothers, Clarence and William Fisher.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home Northeast Chapel, Oklahoma City. Burial will be at Jamison Cemetery, McLoud.

Maella Monell

Maella Monell of Harrah died Saturday. She was 89.

Mrs. Monell was born July 13, 1911, in Tulsa to Percy and Lillian (Crawshaw) Paltridge.

She was a teacher in Dolgeville, N.Y., for 25 years and also was a Children's Sabbath School teacher. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband, Borden, at the family dairy.

Survivors include her husband, Borden, and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Summit Ridge Seventh Day Adventist Church, Harrah. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Harrah, under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.

Patricia Pernalete

Patricia Pernalete of Yukon died Saturday. She was 77.

Mrs. Pernalete was a former Spanish professor at Oklahoma Baptist University.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday at University Baptist Church, Shawnee.

Memorials may be made to the Shawnee Habitat for Humanity House or in the name of Franz Pernalete at the OBU Art Fund.

Jessie Loree Moon

Wewoka resident Jessie Loree Moon died Saturday in Wewoka. She was 91.

Mrs. Moon was born Aug. 20, 1909, in Story, Ark., to Andrew Jackson and Mary Ellen (Reed) Cearley. She attended school in Mount Ida, Ark., and lived in Story.

She married Roy Moon on Jan. 5, 1935, in Silver, Ark.

Mrs. Moon moved to Wewoka in 1935, and lived there until her death. She was a member of the House of Prayer for 35 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Moon, in June 1965; a son, William Kenneth Moon, in November 1998; her parents, Andrew and Mary Ellen Cearley; two sisters, Weeta Prittmand and Marie Cearley; and two brothers, Bill Cearley and Weaver Brown.

Survivors include her two daughters and a son-in-law, Vivian and Jimmy Klaus, Shawnee, and Wanda Maxine Moon, Belleville, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Grayson Bedwell, Brenda Coronado, Kathey Brown, Jimmy Klaus Jr., Sara Klaus, Stacy Moon, Shelly Moon, Shawnette Moon and Shannon Moon; eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Stout Funeral Chapel in Wewoka, with the Rev. Johnny Chesser and the Rev. Bill Chesser officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Hester Mae Sanders

Seminole County resident Hester Mae Sanders died Sunday in Owasso. She was 81.

Mrs. Sanders was born Feb. 10, 1919, in Clinton, Ark. to George Davis and Elsie Pearl (Collins) Isom.

She married Bacil William Sanders on Jan. 4, 1939, in Clinton, Ark. She was a homemaker, and lived in Seminole County most of her life.

Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her husband, Bacil Sanders, on Aug. 14, 1954; and her parents, George and Elsie Isom.

Survivors include sons, James B. Sanders, Mustang, Huelan Sanders, Longmont, Colo., and Roger Sanders and Alvis Sanders, both of Midwest City; three daughters, Cletis M. Roper and Elsie Harmon, both of Tulsa, and Judy Milroy, Okmulgee; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, at Cromwell Baptist Church with Brother Lynn Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Little Cemetery.

Richard E. Karnes

Newalla resident Richard "Dick" E. Karnes died Saturday in Newalla. He was 73.

Karnes was born Aug. 24, 1927, in Cleveland, to Raymond and Jessie (Soble) Karnes.

He grew up in Gladewater, Texas, and graduated from Gladewater High School. He lived in Freeport, Texas, for 20 years, and moved to Newalla in 1992.

Karnes married Ladine Barber on May 24, 1975, in Longview, Texas.

He worked as a pipefitter in heavy construction until his retirement in 1988.

He was a veteran of World War II, and served with the U.S. Navy and the SeaBees.

Karnes was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Jessie Karnes; three brothers, Jack, Kenneth, and Bob Karnes; and a sister, Helen Karnes.

Survivors include his wife, Ladine Karnes of the home; four daughters, Brenda Smithers, Vass, N.C., Terry Brown, Little Axe, Jackye Hatley, Austin, Texas, and Darla Shrum, Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Jesse Boshear, Gladewater, Texas; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. today at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery, followed by graveside services at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Gilbert Hughes, retired pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating.

Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Frances Lela Brundage

Frances Lela Brundage of Tecumseh died Sunday in Shawnee. She was 74.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Further arrangements are pending and will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home.
