FLORENCE "FLOSSY" ELIZABETH CROCKFORD
1962 - 2004
JAY, Okla. - Florence "Flossy" Elizabeth Crockford died Sunday, May 30, 2004 at her home in Jay, Okla. She was 41.
Flossy was born October 25, 1962 at Cortland, N.Y. to Milton and Jessie (Cooper) Crockford. She was raised in Colorado Springs, Co. and made her home in Jay. She graduates from Vo-Tech in Kansas, Okla. and worked at Tyson Foods in Noel, Mo. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, crafts, swimming, and fishing.
Survivors include her son and daughter, Andrew and Amanda Liddell f the home. Her father, Milton Crockford and wife Denise of West Siloam Springs, Okla., four sisters, Carol Hirt and husband Gary of Colorado Springs, Co., Barbara Elledge and husband Robert of Illinois, Cheryl Crockford of Kansas, Okla., Krissy Farmer of California; five brothers, Raymond Crockford and wife Terri of Illinois, Robert Crockford of Colorado, Bub Crockford, Michael Crockcford, and Matt Crockford all of Arkansas; eight nieces; five nephews; and one great niece. She was preceded in death b her mother, Jessie Crockford and one sister, Judith Crockford.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2004 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay. Rev. Jason Cox to officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.

ERIC VAUGHAN NELSON
1985 - 2004
GROVE, Okla. - Eric Vaughan Nelson, of Fairland, died Friday, June 18, 2004 at Grove General Hospital. He was 19.
Eric was born February 13, 1985 in Carthage, Mo. to Ed Badley add Buffy Lynn Nelson Badley. Eric was employed in janitorial services with Stone Brook. He liked soccer and collected arrowheads.
Eric is survived by tow children, Hunter Vaughn Nelson and Hailey Jo Collins; his parents Ed and Buffy Badley, brother Austin Badley and sister Dora Badley. Grandparents Jerry and Pat Myers of Fairland and Joe and Diane Nelson of Pierce City, Mo.; great-grandparents Joe and Pat Nelson of Pierce City; and great-grandmother Lou Lawrence of Monett, Mo.
Services will be Tuesday, June 22 at 2:00 p.m., at the Worley-Luginbuel Chapel, with Reverend Thomas Hawkins officiating. Pallbearers will be Jo Nelson, Jeremy Skocy, Jered Speer, Grant Johnson, Gerald Meyers and Tony Cagle. Interment at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Grove, Oklahoma. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

THELMA LEE STEPHENSON
1925 - 2004
TULSA, Okla. - Thelma Lee Stephenson died Friday, June 18, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was 79.
Thelma was born June 2, 1925 to Atho Lentz and Beulah Lentz in Grove. She married Jack Stephenson on December 14, 1945 at Grove, she was a homemaker. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2003. She has lived in the area since 1978 moving from Tulsa.
She is survived by two children, Larry Stephenson and Diane Barlow, both of Tulsa; one grandson, Lance Stephenson, and three great-grandchildren Raegan, Brenin and Amy Elizabeth Stephenson.
Services will be held Saturday, June 26 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Buzzard Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Okla.

JOSEPH M. (JOE) BRADY
1951 - 2004
SLIDELL, La. - Joseph M. (Joe) Brady, 52, died Friday, June 4, 2004 in Slidell, La. after an extended illness. He was born June 30, 1951 in Miami, Okla. His parents, Joseph (Mutt) Brady and Bertha (Gress) Brady are both deceased.
Joe is survived by his wife, Ravena Brady of Slidell and one brother, Roland Greaves of Elephant Butte, NM. Also surviving are three children, Shelley Fields of Slidell, Darren Tippit of Miami, Okla. and David Tippit of Welch, Okla. and five grandchildren. Joe also leaves behind a host of friends and loved ones that will miss him very much.
Joe was employed by Westco for many years. He had worked in the Grove store for ten years and then in the Commerce Westco for many years. In the last years of his life he was employed by Interstate Brands in Joplin, Mo.
He was a member of the Joplin Family Worship Center in Joplin. A special memorial service will be held at a later date in Joplin.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Gideons in Joe's memory.

JOE BETH PARKS
1935-2004
GROVE, Okla. - Joe Beth “Jo Jo” Parks of Grove died Wednesday June 16, 2004, at the Grove General Hospital. She was 68.
Jo Jo was born November 7, 1935, at Seminole, Okla. to Joseph and Pauline Dean. She worked in retail sales in various businesses including Dillard’s and The Elephant Trunk. She loved to sew, paint and decorate. She has lived in the area for seven years, moving from Oklahoma City. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, David Dean.
Survivors include three sons, Chris Parks and wife Teresa of Grove, Kenneth Parks of Kansas City, Mo. and Duncan Parks and wife Tracy of Dallas, Texas; one brother, James Dean of Chouteau, Okla.; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 21, at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Rev. David DeVore will officiate.

RUTH A. PHILLIPS
1925-2004
GROVE, Okla. - Ruth A. Phillips of Grove went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at St. John’s Hospital in Joplin, Mo. She was 79.
Ruth was born on April 16, 1925, to William and Elizabeth Benton at Havana, Ark. She has lived in the area most of her life and was a member of the Zena Baptist Church. She married Henry Phillips in 1973 at Miami, Okla. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2003. Jimmy Dale Self, Pamela Self, Claudia Self Jones, Bill Self and Gene Self also preceded her in death.
Survivors include 13 children, Bobby Self of Galena, Kan., Betty Smyth of Rogers, Ark., Wanda Pianalto of Springdale, Ark., Harild Self of Oklahoma City, Okla., Darild Self of Rogers, Brenda Thompson of Springdale, Ark., Linda Johnson of Oklahoma City, Rosemary Baker of Rogers, Bonnie Tanner of Grove, Kay Brewer of Zena, Ark., Euna Smith of Claremore, Okla., Tim Self of Grove and Darlena Crockett of Fairland, Okla.; 34 grandchildren and 38-1/2 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 19, at the Zena Baptist Church. Dolphus Blevins and Rick Thomas will officiate. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

ARTIE J. WOOD
1922-2004
TULSA, Okla. - Artie J. Wood, local resident of Tulsa, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at the age of 81 years. He was born on October 27, 1922, in Stroud, Okla., to Artie E. and Bonnie (Martin) Wood. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Army during World War II. He was married December 6, 1947, at Jay, Okla., to Leona Henegar. They had made their home in Tulsa since 1954. He spent most of his working life as an ice cream maker with Carnation Ice Cream. After retirement, he remained active as a volunteer for the American cancer Society and was the head custodian at Celia Clinton Elementary. He enjoyed working past the age of 75. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes, including telling a good story.
Loving family members include his wife of over 57 years, Leona, of the home; two daughters, Becky Matthews of Sand Springs, Okla. and Faye Stout of Stillwater, Okla.; six grandchildren, including Rebecca Demauro and her husband Kris of Skiatook, Okla.; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest and Sharon Wood of Catoosa, Okla. and Tom and Peggy Wood of Kansas, Okla.; one sister and brother-in-law Bonnie and Bob Kitchel of Moore, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso, Okla., with Pastor Dan Bankston officiating. Military presentation of the flag was provided by the U.S. Navy. Committal services and interment were held at the Kansas Cemetery in Kansas, Okla.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service, Owasso.

VADA INEZ CAVE
1921 - 2004
NOWATA, Okla. - Mrs. Vada Inez Cave, 83, resident of Nowata and former resident of Grove, died at 5:07 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15 in the Jane Phillips Nowata Health Center.
Mrs. Cave was born June 15, 1921 at Chelsea, Okla. to Ear and Mary (Hemphill) Melton. She was raised and received her education in Chelsea and Alluwe, Okla., graduating from Chelsea High School. She was married to Joe Tilton in 1938 and he preceded her in death in 1985. Mrs. Cave was married to Chester Cave in 1988 and he preceded her in death in 1995.
Survivors include: one daughter Joan Church of Wichita, Kan.; one son Richard King and his wife, Barbara of Bartlesville; one brother Kirby Melton and his wife, Mary of Oklahoma City; one sister Mary Jane Hass and her husband, C. B. of Nowata; one granddaughter Sheri Robertson and her husband, Jerry of Copan, Okla.; one grandson Robert Patton of Claremore, Okla.; five great-grandchildren Jeanice Robertson-Young, Jared Robertson, Crystal McPhail, Kaylen Patton and Bailey Patton and a special friend Willis Smith of Grove.
Mrs. Cave was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Willene Patton; two infant sons; one brother Wayne and two sisters Neva and Chersea.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 18 in the Stumpff-Nowata Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ben Killion of Nowata officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Talala, Okla.

ANNA RUTH YOUNGWIRTH
1913 - 2004
GROVE, Okla. - Anna Youngwirth age 90 died Sunday, June 123, 2004 in the Grove Nursing Center. The daughter of Josephine Ramsay Cameron and Aurther Cameron, she was born on July 11, 1913 in Pittsburg, Kan. In 1918, they moved to Iola, Kan. where she grew up and attended school. On April 3 1934, she married Theodore "Ted" Youngwirth in the St. Johns Church in Iola.
They owned and operated the Kraft Motel in Yates Center, Kan. from 1950 to 1956. While farming in the Westphalia, Kan. and Yates Center areas for 43 years before retiring in 1978. They moved to Grove in 1978 where Anna was an active member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
Her parents, husband, one sister, June Johnson, one brother, Donald Cameron and one grandson, Michael Phillip Youngwirth preceded her in death.
Survivors include: a son, Phillip Youngwirth in Kingwood, Tex.; a daughter, Linda Boyle in Blackwell, Okla.; grandchildren, Cynthia Lewis, Charlotte Boyle, Michael Boyle and Kris Ritter and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral mass will be on Friday, June 18 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. The interment will be on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Theresa Cemetery in Westphalia, Kan. There will be a Rosary on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The services are under the directions of the Worley-Lunginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

CHARLES WILLIAM "BILL" ANGELL
1926 - 2004
LANGLEY, Okla. - Charles William "Bill" Angell, 77 year old Sportsman Shores resident, passed away early Tuesday morning at his home following an extended illness.
Bill was born December 28, 1926 in Tulsa, Okla. to Walter Angell and Lillie (Satterwhite) Angell. He as a graduate of Daniel Webster High School in Tulsa. Bill served in the U. S. Army from September 1950 to September 1952 and transferred to the Army Reserve. He was a stationary building engineer by occupation.
Bill was united in marriage to Fleta Ruggles on September 15, 1952 in Bentonville, Ark. They moved to the Sportsman Shores area in 2000 from Tulsa.
Surviving family members include: his wife Fleta of the home, two daughters, Barbara K. Fountain and husband Bill of Glenpool, Okla., Billye Warren and husband Dr. Robert Warren of Langley; two sisters, Freda Kaiser of Mesa, Ariz. and Emily Roberts of Langley; one brother Harold Angell of Bristow, Okla.; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Howard, Eugene and Glenn. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 17 at the Fellowship of Believers Church in Langley. Dr. Jack Nester will officiate. Interment will be in Ketchum Cemetery.
Graveside military rites will be performed by the American Legion Post #147 Veterans Ritual Team.
Services are entrusted to Turner Funeral Chapel of Langley, Oklahoma 918-782-3555.
