Dorothy Busch

The memorial service for Dorothy Busch will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003, at the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Officiating will be Pastor Jim Larson of the Christian Church of Ashland.

Mrs. Busch, 93, of Medford, formerly Ashland, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at the Anna Maria Creekside Retirement Center, Medford. She was born Sept. 23, 1909 in LaGrand, Ore. the daughter of Maude and Colon Eberhard. She graduated with a teaching degree from the University of Oregon and taught at the Klamath Union High School in Klamath Falls, Ore. from 1932 to 1939.

On Dec. 30, 1936 at LaGrand, Ore., she married Jim H. Busch who preceded her in death in 1988. Mrs. Busch served on the Ashland School board for several years and was a member of Chapter BN P.E.O. She enjoyed sewing and playing cards.

Surviving are two sons, Jack Busch of Los Altos, Calif. and Jim Busch of Hines, Ore. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one brother.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Community Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 98, Ashland, Ore. 97520 or Chapter BN P.E.O. % Carolyn Burrill, Treasurer, 540 Viego Court, Central Point, Ore. 97502.

Donald Dale McClain

A reception will be held for friends and family of Donald Dale McClain from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2003, followed by a memorial service and celebration of life at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Daniel and Suzanne Bissey, 750 N. Laurel, Ashland.

Donald Dale McClain, 96, of Ashland, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, in Ashland. Arrangements were handled by Abbey Funeral.

George Pete Blue Sr.

George Pete Blue Sr., 82, of Cave Junction, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Highland House Nursing Center in Grants Pass. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, at the Grants Pass Stake, 1969 Williams Hwy. Officiating will be Bishop Jay Bennett. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Illinois Funeral Home Chapel. Family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.

George was born Sept. 12, 1920 in Los Angeles, Calif. He served in the US Army from 1943 to 1945. He worked for many years in the logging industry and the Josephine County Roads Dept. He came to the Illinois Valley in 1947, coming from Talent. He was a member of the Cave Junction, L.D.S. Church. He is a past master of the Deer Creek Grange, past president of the P.T.A, past Master of the Masonic Belt Lodge No. 18 in 1963. He was on the Cave Junction Planning Commission for the city, and was the Mayor of Cave Junction from 1985 to 1986. He is survived by his wife, Ida Blue of Cave Junction; four sons, George Blue Jr. of Grants Pass, Graden Blue of White City, Jerry Blue of Toketee Falls, Ore. and Pete Blue of Medford; five daughters, Diane Tresham of Wasilla, Alaska, Mary Maloney of Shasta Lake City, Calif., Elizabeth Martin of Pima, Ariz., Rita Phair of Central Point and Thelma Campbell of Pangburn, Ark.; 40 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren with four on the way.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Clausen's Illinois Valley Chapel and Funeral Home.

Lucille W. Destiny

Lucille W. Destiny, 83, of Ashland, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at the Linda Vista Care Center, Ashland. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Steve Morris

Steve Morris was born on May 3, 1952 in San Diego, Calif, where he grew up. For the last 10 years he lived in Etna, Calif. and Ashland. On Feb. 24, 2003, Steve died from a fall while doing the building work he loved, this time on a home near Hornbrook, Calif.

Steve was a master carpenter and craftsman. He also played guitar and drums, and loved music, drawing and calligraphy. He was a tumbleweed who loved the road. That road took him to many different work places, and to his great circle of friends. All who knew him were touched deeply. They will remember him for his full-tilt joy in the moment, his enthusiastic stories, his great big laugh, total generosity and gentle presence. Steve's friends will recognize some of his values and passions in "The Simple Life of Noah Dearborne," a film that recently affected him powerfully.

Steve leaves behind his brother Carl Morris of Cambridge, Mass.; sister and brother-in-law Ann and Sheridon Stokes of Bodega Bay, Calif.; his former wife Ann Morris of Carmel, Calif.; his close companion Patricia Zoline of Ashland; a cousin; a nephew; and many, many dear friends. He is terribly missed, and will be forever in their hearts.

A private service was held March 2, 2003 in Etna, Calif. A memorial gathering was held for all of his Ashland friends and acquaintances on Sunday, March 9, 2003 at the home of Steve and Lynn Fain, 952 Mary Jane St., Ashland.

Ronald E. Bertocchi

Ronald E. Bertocchi, 63, of Ashland, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at the Ashland Community Hospital. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Ronald Bertocchi

A memorial service will be held for Ronald Bertocchi, 63, of Ashland, who died Saturday, March 8, 2003 in Ashland. Marianne O'Sheeran will officiate the memorial which will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2003 in Lithia Park next to the upper duck pond.

Mr. Bertocchi was born on September 12, 1939, in San Francisco, the son of John and Estella Bertocchi, who emigrated from Italy to California.

Mr. Bertocchi earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from San Francisco State College and traveled the United States doing art shows after attending Oregon State University in 1969. He began Bertocchi Studios in Keno, Ore. in 1993 and moved to Ashland a year later.

On July 7, 2001, Mr. Bertocchi married Diane Stamper in Ashland.

A master sculptor who depicted works of nature in copper, brass, and bronze, Mr. Bertocchi founded Bertocchi Builders and the Applegate Gallery with family members.

Mr. Bertocchi loved jazz, modern dance, golf and all aspects of nature. He especially appreciated birds, which he depicted in his sculptures.

Mr. Bertocchi was a member of the Ashland Gallery Association and the Golf Association.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Stamper of Ashland; his sister, Joanne Rice, of Ashland; his daughter Elaine Nelson of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and his son Mark Bertocchi of Medford.

Lino Castagnola

Lino Castagnola, 91, of Ashland, died Friday, March 9, 2003, at the Linda Vista Care Center, Ashland. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Gertrude C. Woods

No services are planned for Gertrude Carlton Woods, 96, of Ashland, who died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at home.

She was born April 29, 1906 in Eagle Point, Ore., the daughter of Bessie and Harry Carlton. She was raised in Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School in 1924.

On June 30, 1934 in Ashland, she married Harvey A. Woods who preceded her in death in 1989. In the late 40s following World War II she was instrumental in restarting the Oak Knoll Golf Course in Ashland. She enjoyed golf and was a live master in bridge. She was a member of Chapter AC P.E.O.

Surviving are: three sons, Harvey Woods of Medford, Marvin Woods of Ashland and David Woods of Folsom, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the P.E.O. Foundation Tina Wallace Scholarship, c/o Joyce Provost, 4224 Highway 66, Ashland, Ore. 97520.
