Gladys Rowland Newell
A funeral service for Gladys Rowland Newell will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 at Conger-Morris Funeral Chapel, Medford. Private interment will be in Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mrs. Newell, 90, of Medford died Sunday (Nov. 21, 2004).

She was born on Jan. 26, 1914 in Argos, IN to Russell and Emma Rowland. On June 23, 1938 in Stockton, CA she married Holbrook Newell who preceded her in death in 1991. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1971 from San Jose, CA.

Mrs. Newell received her bachelor's degree from San Jose State University in 1938.

She worked part time for the California Dept. of Employment.

Mrs. Newell enjoyed reading, playing bridge, camping and fishing.

Survivors include two sons, David R. of Eagle Point and James H. of Alpine, CA; two sisters, La Docia Meyer of Sarasota, FL, and Doris Snyder of South Whitley, IN; a grandson, Terry; and one great-grandson, Zachary. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, and two sisters.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Nancy Patricia Jenkins
At 3:00 a.m., Friday the 19th of November, Nancy Patricia Jenkins entered into the realm of eternal love and absolute peace.

She died in her own home, with her husband at her side, bathed in love.

By family and friends she will be missed very, very, very much. We've loved her in life, we will cherish her memory and will love her forever at our reunion in Christ.

Mass to be held at Sacred Heart Church, Medford, OR on Wednesday, November 24. Rosary at 8:00, Funeral Mass at 8:30.

Gerald Paul Jacobs, 66, of Phoenix, died Wednesday (Nov. 17, 2004) in Phoenix. Arrangements; Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Richard Robins, 79, of Medford, passed away Friday (Nov. 19, 2004) at Rogue Valley Manor Health Care Center. Arrangements; Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

Chris Brewer
Chris Brewer passed away on 11/19/04 in the morning at RVMC.

Born on 10/2/45. Mother- Barbara Brewer Bruse; Step-Father- George Bruse. Chris married Sherrie and together they raised their family in Medford. Cortnie Brewer Peeler daughter, Shannon McAvin daughter, Candi McAvin daughter, Chris has 3 grand children Hailey, Tommy, and the newest one Riley. Chris is well known from coaching at Hedrick, and North High, He worked for over 25 years with the Medford Parks and Recreation, He is also known for being the person who started track meets at North, South, Mcloughlin, St.Marys and Southern Oregon University. Chris was involved in the Medford elks Hoop Shoot Contest, being the chairman for that for 25 some years. His hobbies were being up in the woods hunting, fishing the Rogue, and riding his ATV with the guys.

In Lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be sent to the Hoop Shoot Contest c/o of the Medford Elks. Service will be held at Conger Morris on Main St. in Medford on Tuesday the 23, 2004 at 2 p.m.

Chris will be missed and remembered for all he did with the young people in Medford; And will be especially missed by his loving family who loved him very much. May he rest in Peace.

Johannes 'John' Lux
Johannes "John" Lux, 81, of Eagle Point, passed away Thursday (Nov. 18, 2004) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Survivors include; his wife Aletta.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2004 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Shady Cove.

Delbert Adrian Scriven
Delbert Adrian Scriven, 89, of Medford, passed away Thursday morning November 18, 2004 at the Providence Hospital in Medford. Services have been held.

Delbert was born January 14, 1915 in Fairbury, NE to DeWitt and Grace (Hand) Scriven being their first child. The family then moved to a number of places throughout the Western States, living for a time in the Medford, area.

He was living in Klamath Falls, OR after his marriage to Hazel Weaver. He joined the U.S. Navy toward the end of World War II and received an honorable discharge soon after the war ended. After his discharge, he completed high school and attended Pacific Bible College. Later he was able to obtain his license as an ordained minister of the Gospel.

As a minister he started the Roseville, Ca. Nazarene Church, the Terra Bella, Ca. Nazarene Church, ministered at the Samoa, Ca. Nazarene Church and also at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in McKinleyville, CA. He also assisted in the work of the Salvation Army. Later in life he attended the Apostolic Faith Church in Medford with his wife Stella.

While working as a certified lumber grader in the Eureka, CA area, he attended the California State University, Humboldt in Arcata, CA. Here he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree and Teaching Certificate in Social Science and Psychology. This was a long process to obtain but he showed his perseverance in reaching a goal that he was always proud of.

Delbert enjoyed long talks and visits with family and friends. He also enjoyed travel, music, singing and playing the guitar, as well as church work when called upon.

Delbert Scriven was married to Stella (Teel) Scriven for 27 years. They were married in Roseville, CA. He and with his wife Stella worked for the U.S. Park Service in Scotty's Castle and Bryce Canyon.

He was pre-deceased by his father, DeWitt Talmadge Scriven, mother Grace Eudora (Hand) Scriven, brother, Joseph Scriven, and sister June (Scriven) Stanley. He is survived by his wife Stella residing in Medford; sons Delbert D. Scriven of Eureka, CA, Gary A. Scriven of Redding, CA, Vernon D. Scriven of Moses Lake, WA; and daughter Sharon (Scriven) Iwanick of La Center, WA; stepsons Darrell Teel of Medford, Don Teel of Coquille, OR; and a step-daughter Debbie Belleque of Myrtle Point, OR; sisters Florence (Scriven) Wood of Montana, Bonnie (Scriven) Bob of Naselle, WA; and brothers, Maj. Edward Scriven of Ogden, UT, Ben Scriven of Myrtle Creek, OR and Tom Scriven of Prospect, OR; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Kathryn Ann Collins
Kathryn Ann Collins died November 19, 2004, in Turner, Oregon.

She was born Aug. 25, 1933, in Pendleton, OR, to William and Maurine Moyle. She married Gola "Pete" Collins Sept. 10, 1953, in Pendleton; they were married 45 years at the time of his death in 1999.

She worked as a telephone operator, customer service rep. at Harry and David, receptionist for H&R; Block, and at the Bingo Hall in White City.

Mrs. Collins enjoyed reading, puzzle books, crocheting, genealogy, and her cat, Sam.

She is survived by daughter, Donna Barnes of Turner; sons, Tom Collins of Van Buren, AR, Tracy Collins of White City, Dean and Dane Collins of Medford, David Collins of Hanscom AFB, MA; sisters, Mary Meredith of Salem, and Helen Hunchak of Pendleton; a brother Mike Ferguson of Pendleton; and seven grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Rogue Valley Fellowship Hubb at Third and Front St., Medford at 2 p.m. Sat., Nov. 27, 2004.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice, 1046 Sixth Ave. SW, Albany, OR 97321, or the charity of one's choice.

Robert 'Bob' L. Hill, Sr.
1923 - 2004

Robert "Bob" L. Hill, Sr. was born of Feb. 16, 1923 to Walter S. Hill and Melda (Rightenaur) Hill.

He was born in Rock Island, IL and attended school there. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He married Marjorie (Marj) Dunn in 1944. He went over to England with the 8th Air Force and spent the last months of the war in a German P.O.W. camp.

He and Marj were parents of five children, Dannie Moore of Westminster, CO, Robert Hill, Jr. of Amarillo, TX, Fletcher Hill of La Veta, CO; James Hill of Denver, CO, and Megan Hill of Golden, CO.

Bob spent his working years in photography, technical illustration, and aerospace computer engineering. His hobbies were gemology (certified Gemologist), lapidary, oil and water color, and an avid history buff. He served as curator of the Crater Rock Musem for eleven years.

Besides his family, Mr. Hill is survived by five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Hill of Rock Island, IL; and a sister, Janice Dierolf of Sherrard, IL.

A private family gathering has been held. A memorial will take place at a later date.

Eleanor Joyce Atto, 79, of Gold Hill, died Tuesday, November 22, 2004 at Providence Medford Medical Center. Arrangements pending with Abbey Funeral.

Ruth D. Coey, 98, of Medford, died Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at the Rogue Valley Medical Center. Arrangements will be handled by Memory Gardens Mortuary.

Thomas Monroe Denney
Thomas Monroe Denney, 63, of Ashland, died Tuesday (Nov. 22, 2004) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Arrangements pending Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Jeffrey Mitchell
Jeffrey Mitchell, 54, of Medford, died Sunday (Nov. 21, 2004) at his home. Arrangements; Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Leonard T. Womack
Leonard T. Womack, 78, recently of Central Point, died Sunday (Nov. 21, 2004) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Arrangements; Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

Maria Ruiz
Maria Ruiz, 37, of Medford, died Sunday (Nov. 21, 2004) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Arrangements; Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

Dessie Roena Frazier
Dessie "Roena" Frazier, 82, of Medford, died May 18, 2004 at Alterra Wynwood, Medford.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., June 26 at First Baptist Church, 4655 S. Pacific Hwy., Phoenix, OR. Rev. Dale Adams will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Roena was born June 9, 1921 in Slaton, Texas to Wm. Marvin and Essie (Crow) Grubbs. On August 9, 1937, she married Opie E. Frazier in Medford. She lived in Phoenix, OR since 1936, moving to Arizona in 1990 to 2002, and then back to Medford in 2002.

She co-owned Ocean Villa Motel in Smith River, CA and Frazier RV Park in Quartzsite, AZ. She also worked at Bear Creek.

Roena enjoyed horseback riding, dancing and beach combing.

She was a member of the Medford Trailriders and Phoenix Lions Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Opie Frazier; son, Dr. Marvin Frazier and his wife, Carmen of Germantown, MD; daughter, Iris and her husband, Evertt Kastner of Medford; brother, Niel Grubbs of Borger, Texas; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother, one grandchild and her parents.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Justin Lee Dornbusch
June 20, 1989 - June 7, 2004

Justin Lee Dornbusch was born June 20, 1989 in Coos Bay, Oregon to Chris R. and Judy L. (Bour ) Dornbusch. He joined a half brother David W. White and a half sister Sarah M. Dornbusch. He died on June 7, 2004, at the age of 14 years, while trying to save his brother Brandon S. Dornbusch in a tragic drowning accident in Watson, Minnesota. He attended school in Medford, Independence and Dallas, OR as well as the Area Learning Center in Montevideo, MN. Justin loved to play basketball, football and skateboarding. He was a proficient artist his favorite drawings being of dragons and cars, and was also very good at video games. He loved to clown around and make others laugh and smile. He was very good in school and had just completed the 9th grade and had plans to become an electrician with his Uncle Corey. Math, art and science were his favorite subjects. He was greatly admired and loved by everyone that came into contact with him. He would go out of his way to help others and always had a smile for anyone that needed it. He was very close to his family, friends and his brothers. He loved animals of all kinds. He was an avid swimmer and loved camping and fishing. He often had green or orange hair and liked to do new and exciting things.

Brandon Seth Dornbusch
July 1, 1991 - June 7, 2004

Brandon Seth Dornbusch was born July 1, 1991 in Coos Bay, Oregon to Chris R. Dornbusch and Judy L. ( Bour ) Dornbusch. He joined a brother, Justin L. Dornbusch and a half brother, David W. White and a half sister, Sarah M. Dornbusch. He died June 7, 2004, at the age of 12 years, in a tragic drowning accident in Watson, Minnesota that also claimed his brother Justin who was valiantly trying to save him. Brandon had the bluest eyes and dimples that were always in readiness for anyone that he came across. He attended school in Medford, Independence and Dallas, OR as well as the Montevideo Middle School in Watson, MN. Brandon worked very hard in school and dreamed of one day being an architect. He had just completed the 7th grade.

He loved to draw. His favorite things to draw were bridges, cars, dragons and other miscellaneous pictures. He liked DragonBallzz and Yu-ghi-o. He also enjoyed rollerblading and skateboarding. He was very proficient at computer games and video games. He was an avid swimmer and liked fishing and camping. Brandon loved animals and always had a compassionate nature for those around him. He was very close to his family, friends and his brothers.

Brandon was often known to have blue velvet hair and wore glasses and thought Scooby-Doo was the coolest dog on earth.

Both boys will be rememberd by all for their warm, loving, caring and compassionate personalities. The will be sorely missed by all.

Both Justin and Brandon are survived by their mother, Judy L. Stonger of Oregon City, OR; their father, Chris R. Dornbusch of Watson, MN. Also, their half siblings David White of Gold Beach, OR; Sarah Dornbusch of Milbank, SD. They had a step-motheer, Mona Dornbusch; and step siblings, Chelsea, Josh, Joe, and Brandon. They are survived by their aunts, and uncles, Michelle and Corey Gray of Medford, Melissa Hartman, Wally and Vickie Hartman of Gold Beach, OR, John and Tanya Dornbusch, LeRoy and Linda Dornbusch of Brookings, Daniel Dornbusch, Matthew and Kari Dornbusch, Dawn Dornbusch-Shepherd of Medford, EvaLee O'Donnell of Riddle, OR. They are also survived by their grandmothers Vicky L. McGuiness of Gold Beach, OR, and Mary E. Dornbusch of Brookings, OR. Also, thier great-grandfather, Ralph Dornbusch of Milbank, SD; and numerous cousins and friends. They are preceded in death by their grandfathers, Warren L. White and David Dornbusch. Also, by their great-grandparents John and Elda Bour and Alice Dornbusch.

There was a Memorial service in Watson, MN on June 13, 2004. There will be two Celebration of Life gatherings in Oregon. The first, in Medford, at the Bear Creek Park on June 26, 2004 at 10 a.m. The other in Dallas, at the Dallas City Park on June 27, 2004 at 3 p.m. All friends and family are invited to attend and remember these two wonderful and special boys.

John D. 'Doc' Dockery, Sr.
John David "Doc" Dockery, Sr., 1203 Walnut, Milton-Freewater, Oregon passed away June 14, 2004 at his home at the age of 73 years.

At his request there will be no funeral. Memorial contributions may be made to the Walla Walla Community Hospice through the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, Oregon 97862.

Mr. Dockery was born October 13, 1930 in San Pedro, California the son of Herman David and Blanche Elizabeth (Pence) Dockery. He lived for a time in San Pedro where he started school. The family later moved to San Francisco, California where he finished his schooling.

At the age of 16 years, he joined the Merchant Marines. He later joined the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. After his discharge from the service, he began working in the oil fields in the Bakersfield and Long Beach, California areas, until 1979.

On September 19, 1981 he married Robin Rieck in Medford. The couple moved to Medford where they lived for 21 years. Mr. Dockery had worked there for Johnson Auto Parts. In 2000, they moved to Milton-Freewater.

He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and was a member of the A.B.A.T.E. motorcycle group in Medford. He also enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Robin Dockery; four daughters, Mickey Komin, Mary Ann Miller, Jerri Lynn Rowe, and Cindy Garcia, all of Bakersfield, California; two sons, John David Dockery, Jr., and Steve Dockery, both of Bakersfield, California; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

John X. Golich
John X. Golich, 57, of Ashland, died Friday (June 18, 2004) at his home. Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Leo Curtis Cook
Leo Curtis Cook, 88, of Medford, died Tuesday (June 22, 2004) at Providence Medford Medical Center. Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.
