Gracie Elizabeth Gee
Gracie was born December 11, 1920 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Mac and Nora Waller. The youngest of 10 children, her early years were spent in the hard scrabble life of a Texas depression farm.

Gracie married John Thomas (J.T.) Gee, two days after her sixteenth birthday, on December 13, 1936, and like so many children of that era, she became an adult.

Her life of over 83 years was filled with vibrant living. Just as others of her generation, Gracie had that combination of gritty determination and ambition to better her life and her world and we are so much the richer in blessings today because of it.

Never afraid of hard work, she earned money picking cotton, milking cows, and driving the farm tractor. She was a shipyard welder during WWII; she served people as a waitress and a hostess and in her final working years graced her faithful customers at Safeway with her beautiful smile and personal charm.

Throughout her life, Gracie's strong Christian faith kept her steadfast and sustained her throughout the many trials life dealt her. God was her guide and He never failed her.

She was married to John 51 years until she lost him to cancer. Though she deeply mourned his passing she continued her life with exuberance and joy. She filled her days with travel and cherished time with her dear and loving friend Harold Hewlett.

She is celebrated in memory by her children Bob Gee and his wife Jan of Lakewood, Washington, and Debbie Acord and her husband Jim of Phoenix, Oregon. She will always have a special place in the hearts of her grandchildren, Angela, Eric, and Kenneth Gee, Jennifer and husband Josh Platt, Travis, David and wife Jennifer, and Nicholas Acord; and great-grandchildren K.J., Megan, Jamie, Nicole, Shelby Grace, and Orion.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made in Gracie's name to First Baptist Church, Medford, or Good Shepherd Communities.
