Hazel Fern Chambers
Hazel Fern Chambers, 88, of Medford died Monday (Jan. 31, 2005) at Medford Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Medford. No services are planned.

Mrs. Chambers, was born on Dec. 25, 1916 in Friend, OR to James Leroy Miller and Sarah May (Richards) Miller. On Dec. 3, 1938 in Prineville, OR she married Leland Chambers who preceded her in death July 27, 2004. She had lived in the Rogue Valley for 47 years.

Mrs. Chambers was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include three sons, Ray of Portland, OR, George of Medford, and Bob of Yreka, CA; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Venna Waldron.

Arrangements: Conger Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Robert N. Hale
A memorial service for Robert N. Hale will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at the Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Hale, 74, of Eagle Point, died Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association.

He was born on Feb. 2, 1930 in West Pittson, PA to Ernest Richard and Alice Louise (Kurtinitis) Hale. In 1953 in Minnesota he married the former Theresa Steblay who survives. The moved to the Rogue Valley in 1973 from California.

Mr. Hale served in the U.S. Air Force.

He worked as an equipment operator in the construction industry.

Mr, Hale enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, Theresa, survivors include a sister Dorothy Ferkel of Andalusia, IL; and a brother Richard E. Hale of Manteca, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Elmer, Ted, and Henry.

Shirley Jean Smith
A memorial service for Shirley Jean Smith will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005 at Conger Morris, Medford Chapel.

Shirley, 78, of Medford, passed away Sunday evening, January 30, 2005.

She was born on January 29, 1927 in Wishka Valley, Washington to Frank Glen and Bea Vivian Harrison. She married Gerald Smith on April 27, 1944 and although divorced, remained close until her death. Both attended Northwest Bible Institute in Kirkland, Washington. She spent many years working in the ministry with Gerald.

She spent her childhood years happily roller skating the sidewalks of Longview, Washington. In the 1950s she moved to the Medford area. She worked in retail most of her adult life and was employed until a sprite 72 years of age.

Her life was centered on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her friends and her relationship with God.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Smith of La Pine, Oregon; daughters, Carol Rae Hildreth of Central Point and Cheryl Danner, of Eagle Point; one surviving brother, Bob Harrison of Longview, Washington; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, a brother Frank, and two sisters, Eileen and Juanita.

Catherine G. Sutliff
Catherine G. Sutliff, 86, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday (Feb. 1, 2005) at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation in Grants Pass. Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley - L.B. Hall Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

Deloris J. Sabin
Deloris J. Sabin, 61, of Medford, died Monday (Jan. 31, 2005) at her home. Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Jerome Weiss
Jerome Weiss, 91, of Talent, died Tuesday (Feb. 1, 2005) at his home. Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, Medford.

Verla A. Bradford
Verla A. Bradford, 83, of Medford, died Monday (Jan. 31, 2005) at the Rogue Valley Medical Center. Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors of Medford.

Wilbur Taylor
Wilbur Taylor, 76, of Medford, died Monday (Jan. 31, 2005) at his home. Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, Medford.

Winifred O. King
Winifred O. King, 84, died Sunday (Jan. 30, 2005) at her home. Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Frank Horton
A memorial service for Frank Horton will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the Episcopal Church in Prospect.

Mr. Horton, 55, of Prospect, died on February 18, 2005 in Seattle, WA after battling a long illness.

He was born September 25, 1949, in Los Angeles, CA.

Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Rosie and Bob Jenkins; his four children, Travis, Brian, Christina and Sara Horton; his brothers, John Horton and Horst Jenkins; and his sister Robin Riekkola.

Marvin William Browning
A funeral for Marvin William Browning will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at Conger Morris Medford Chapel. Interment will be at the Phoenix cemetery. Rev. John Bround will officiate.

Mr. Browning, 83, of Talent, died Saturday (March 5, 2005) in Talent.

He was born on Aug. 13, 1921 in Harrison, AR to Wesley and Nora Browning. On March 31, 1940 in Harrison, AR he married Grace who survives. In 1954 they moved to Phoenix and then to Talent.

Mr. Browning served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.

He worked at a sawmill, and in building maintenance for the Phoenix School System for 20 years.

Mr. Browning's hobby was refurbishing bikes.

In addition to his wife Grace, survivors include a son, M. Ralph Browning of Jacksonville; a daughter, Marilyn J. Hunt of Medford; a brother, Oliver Browning; a half brother, Lee Browning; a half sister, Hazel Browning both of Arkansas; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed! Arrangements: Conger Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Michael 'Mike' Ray Settell
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Michael "Mike" Ray Settell will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Perl-Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford. Rev. Scott Barlow will officiate.

Mike, 50, of Huron, CA, formerly of Central Point joined our Lord February 22, 2005 after losing a year long battle with cancer.

He was born on March 26, 1954 in Medford. He moved to Central Point with his family when he was four years old. He went to Central Point Schools and garaduated from Crater High School in 1972. He went to Southen Oregon Colleage and received a degree in teaching. Mike taught briefly at Richardson and Hoover Schools before moving to Huron, CA. He worked for the fire and rescue dept. in Huron, and was active in local government. In Huron, 16 years ago, he married Rosalia, who survives.

He loved to fish and take trips to the beach with his family.

In addition to his wife, Roselia, survivors include his two daughters, Rosa and Ivon; two step-children; his mother and step-fataher, Rosella and Richard Drake of Central Point; four brothers, Leonard of Central Point, Clayton of Hawaii, Kirk of Colorado, and Mark of Arizona; a sister, April Settell of Colorado; a step-sister, Dallice Price; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Leonard, and his grandfather and grandmother, Dan and Yvonne Haas.

To know Mike was to love him, he will be missed!

Ron "Little Swede" Reuter
Ron Reuter, 61, died peacefully at his home on March 4, 2005, after a valiant four year battle with cancer.

Ron was a gifted and creative artist, musician and craftsman. He had a private cabinet business, R&R; Woodworks, and was well-known throughout the country for his cabinetry designs.

His interests included fishing - his boyhood favorite fishing place was on his beloved Rainy Lake in International Falls, MN, where he was born. He also loved the outdoors where he could hunt, hike and enjoy his mountains.

Ron was preceded in death by his beloved mother "Johnnie" and his brother Gary.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Alyce; his sister Charlynn of Cocoa Beach, FL; his father, Paul Reuter of Int'l Falls, MN; and his children Alonda, Jason, Nicole, Darrin, Chad, Lynnette, Jennifer and Brett.

Favorite times for Ron were traveling with Alyce in their trailer; camping trips with granddaughter Jenn and grandson Tristan; enjoying the outdoors; gardening; and working in his shop.

Ron will be sadly missed by so many and we will all have our own memories of the times he gave us.

A memorial service will be held at Harvest Baptist Temple, 2001 S. Columbus, Medford, at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2005.

Clarice H. Woolsey
Clarice H. Woolsey, 77, of Central Point, died Sunday (March 6, 2005) at her home. Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Frances E. Kusler
Frances E. Kusler, 92, of Medford, died Friday (March 4, 2005) at Farmington Square, Medford. Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Lawrence Varin
Lawrence Varin, 95, died Saturday (March 5, 2005) in Medford. He was born on Oct. 14, 1909. Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home and Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.

Louise Ann Andre
Louise Ann Andre, 86, of Shady Cove, died Saturday (March 5, 2005) at Providence Medford Medical Center, Medford. Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, Medford.

Estelle S. Strong
The memorial service for Estelle S. Strong will be at 1 p.m. today at the Congregational Church in Ashland.

Estelle S. Strong, 83, of Ashland, died Monday (Oct. 28, 2002) at her home.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Regina Patricia Groover
The graveside service for Regina Patricia Groover will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Eagle Point National cemetery. The Rev. Jim Clifford of Good Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church in Central Point will officiate.

Mrs. Groover, 78, of Central Point, died Monday (Oct. 28, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Trenton, N.J., to Joseph and Josephine Kowalik. On Feb. 9, 1947, in Trenton, N.J., she married Mahlon Groover, who died Oct. 3, 2002. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990 from Orange, Calif.

Mrs. Groover was a nurse.

She enjoyed the Sierra Nevada, the Anaheim Angels and pulling slot machine handles. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Robert, Central Point, and Michael, Penn Valley, Calif.; a daughter, Regina Constantina, Trenton, N.J.; a sister, Marie Ferry, Trenton, N.J.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Rev. Hugo Martin Warnke
The funeral for the Rev. Hugo Martin Warnke will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Saved by Grace Lutheran Church in Medford. Pastor Sparley will officiate. Interment will be in Butte Falls cemetery.

Rev. Warnke, 88, of Butte Falls, died Tuesday (Oct. 29, 2002) at his home.

He was born Jan. 28, 1914, in Kingston, Wis., to William and Ida Warnke. He graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in 1937. On June 28, 1937, in Kingston, Wis., he married Martha Ellen Bumgardner, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992 from Paso Robles, Calif.

Rev. Warnke dedicated 57 years of his life to serving at 51 churches and missions in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. He retired nine years ago.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Paul; two daughters, Ann Prentice and Loretta Campbell, Eagle Point; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.
