Vada Song
A belated tribute to our grandmother Vada Isabelle Song, she was laid to rest on March 31, 2005.

She often told us that she was thinking of us daily and remembering us in prayer to her God. She loved to read the Bible and she had deep love for God's son Jesus Christ. We hope to see one another again in the resurrections.

Love, your grandchildren: Mike and Ron, Rosemary, Monika, Annette and Melinda. Also, nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Viola Virginia Baak Green
Viola was born on Jan. 23, 1909, in Wolsey, Beadle County, SD. She was the fifth child of Herman C. and Mary Pencker Baak. Viola had two sisters and three brothers. She was baptized in May 1909 in Wolsey, SD. When Viola was a small child the family moved to Iowa.

Viola went to grade school in Ricketts and in Schleswig, Iowa; she went to high school in Schleswig and Charter Oak, IA. Viola was confirmed on March 25, 1923 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, IA. After finishing high school she went to business college in Des Moines, IA. After completing the business course she secured a position with the Bankers Life Insurance Company in Des Moines, later leaving this job for a more interesting position wth radio station WHO.

It was while living and working in Des Moines that Viola met her future husband, Richard David Green. They became engaged. When Richard's family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, he accompanied them. Richard and Viola were married in Colorado Springs on June 20, 1931. Theirs was a love affair that lasted from the time they met and became engaged in Des Moines until Richard's death on Feb. 9, 1963 in San Francisco.

In May, 1929 Viola resigned her position at Radio Station WHO in Des Moines and joined Richard in Colorado Springs. There she found work in different offices before securing a position with the Alexander Film Company on the outskirts of Colorado Springs. This was during the time of the Great Depression, and because Colorado Springs was at that time a tourist city with little or no industry, the young married couple decided to move to San Francisco, CA, which they did in Aug. of 1931. On Sept. 15, 1976 Viola retired from the same job with a publishing firm obtained when first coming to San Francisco. In 1998 she moved to Talent, then in 2003 she moved to the Royal Oak Retirement Home in Medford.

Survivors include 11 nieces and nephews; and many friends who dearly loved her and will greatly miss her.

A memorial service to celebrate her long wonderful life of 96 years will be at 2:30 p.m. May 7, at Royal Oak Retirement Home in Medford.

James Barbuch
With every season comes change. As we welcomed Spring this year, we also said goodbye to our very dear friend, James Barbuch. On April 10, 2005, James was welcomed home by our Heavenly Father.

Jim will be missed by those he was closest with in his last days here. Not a football game against Green Bay or a race against Dale, Jr. will we ever forget his presence calling each play or pit stop. His companionship was always special; his laughter, his sarcasm, but most of all his love towards those he cared about will always be remembered.

To you, Jim, we tip our hats, to the man who helped us get through our day, no matter what the situation. We leave all our love to a greater power to help you be at peace for all eternity...

We will always love you, Jim!!
