Margie Lorraine Goldsmith
Margie Lorraine Goldsmith, age 60, died on April 27th, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Gracelin Terrace Nursing Home in Portland, Oregon.

She is survived by her mother and father, Mildred and Al Cox. One sister, Mary Ann King, of Ashland. Two brothers; Richard White and Jay White of California. Three sons; Allen Rowland of Eagle Point, J.J. White, and Adrian Arreche of Chino, CA. and four Grandchildren.

Services will be held on Monday, May 2nd, at 2 p.m. at Memorial Gardens in Medford. Officiated by Pastor Mark Anderson of Ashland Christian Fellowship.

David Crook
David Crook, 58, of White City, died Friday (April 29, 2005) at the VA Domiciliary in White City. Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Joyce Ann Smith
Joyce Ann Smith, 55, of Eagle Point, died Sunday (May 1, 2005) at her home. Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Mary Smith
Mary Smith, 93, died Monday (May 2, 2005) in Medford. She was born on Nov. 22, 1911, in Pasadena, CA. Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home and Siskiyou Memorial Park.

Terry W. Hogue
Terry W. Hogue, 57, of Medford, died Friday (April 29, 2005) in Miami, FL. Arrangements: Rogue Funeral Alternatives, Medford.

Emma Lena Fullbright
Emma Lena Fullbright, 85, of Shady Cove, died Sunday (May 1, 2005). Arrangements: Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, Medford.

John Duane Manning
A memorial service for John Duane Manning will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005 at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Manning, 73, of Medford, died March 20, 2005 at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born on Dec. 15, 1931 in Chikasha, OK, a son of Wuarekia and Hattie Manning.

Mr. Manning served in the U.S, Army.

He was a retired owner of a used car and smog shop. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992 from Bakersfield, CA. On July 16, 2002 in Reno, NV, he married Myrna Ann Claflin who survives.

In addition to his wife, Myrna of Medford, survivors include four children, Michelle Moore of Medford, Lonnie Manning of Eureka, CA, Dana Nelson of Columbus, MT and Chris Manning of Texas; two brothers, Harley Manning and Glenn Manning both of Medford; and five grandchildren.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel.

June A. Fleischer
June A. Fleischer, age 87, died April 26, 2005, in Central Point, Oregon.

She was born on June 14, 1917 in Central Point, to John L. and Flora (Atkins) Nealon.

June graduated from Central Point High School in 1935. She married Alan S. Fleischer, her high school sweetheart, on March 16, 1941, in Medford. She lived all her life in the Table Rock area where her family settled to farm in 1883.

She enjoyed fishing, gardening, travel and family.

Survivors include her husband: Alan; children, John of Florence, OR., James of Central Point, OR; sister, Donna Dunn of Central Point, OR; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Inglis in 1983.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2005 at the Table Rock Bible Church. Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home and Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.

Michael "Mike" Tinghitella
A funeral mass for Michael "Mike" Tinghitella will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford.

Friends and family will gather from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, May 4, 2005 to share memories of Mike at Perl-Siskiyou Funeral Home, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd., Medford.

Mr. Tinghitella, 69, of Jacksonville, died Saturday (April 30, 2005) at Providence Medford Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Foundation.

He was born on Dec. 18, 1935 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, N.Y. to Salvatore and Margaret (Arenella) Tinghitella. On Sept. 15, 1956 in Belrose, N.Y. he married Rose Perrazzo who survives. They moved to Jacksonville five years ago.

Mr. Tinghitella served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a retired Teamster, and semi-retired Entrepreneur.

Mike's interests were his family, friends, world events, and geopolitics. He especially enjoyed the hometown atmosphere of Jacksonville and the many friends and acquaintances developed throughout the Rogue Valley.

In addition to his wife, Rose, survivors include his four children, Michael, Anthony, Laura and James; two sisters, Camille, and Peggy; three grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jimmy.

Those who knew this great man will surely miss him!

Richard Herbert Travis
Feb. 16, 1918 - April 29, 2005

Mr. Travis was born in Stillwell, Indiana. On Dec. 24, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana he married Roberta Margarete Irene Izor, who preceded him in death in 1993.

He moved his family to Oregon after serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a B-24 Bomber Pilot.

Mr. Travis was a successful businessman in the industrial laundry and restaurants in Crescent City, CA., Klamath Falls, OR Portland, OR and Austin Texas.

He gave to his community as a member of the Medford City Council, the Library Board and the School of Hope. He was president of the United Way for several years. In retirement, he served on the board of Southern Oregon Goodwill Industries, then as its executive director.

Mr. Travis enjoyed flying, golf, fishing and a wide range of interests and hobbies.

He is survived by his three sons, Michael and his wife Mary Francis and Jeffrey all of Medford, and Timothy and his wife Lynn; his granddaughters Rachel and Lucy all of Portland.

At his request no service is planned.

Charles McDonald
Charles McDonald, 71, of Grants Pass, died Saturday (April 30, 2005) at his home. Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley - L.B. Hall Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

Clara Tessier
Clara Tessier, 88, died Saturday (April 30, 2005) at Waterford Three Fountains in Medford. Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, Medford.

Fred D. Newton
Fred D. Newton, 33, of Grants Pass, died Saturday (April 30, 2005) as a result of a motorcycle accident in Grants Pass. Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley - L.B. Hall Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

Hubert Phillips
Hubert Phillips, 80, of Central Point, died Monday (May 2, 2005). Arrangements: Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, Medford.

LeRoy "Roy" Sander
The funeral for LeRoy Dee "Roy" Sander, 92, of Medford, who died Monday (May 2, 2005) at Three Fountains Nursing Center, will be held on Friday, a full obituary will run later this week. Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Fern Shields
Fern Shields, 67, of White City, died Monday, May 2, 2005 at Linda Vista Care Center. Graveside services were held at Granite Hill cemetery with Pastor Russ Millsaps officiating.

Remembrances may be made to American Cancer Society, Josephine County Chapter, 31 W 6th Street, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born on Nov. 8, 1937 in Roswell, New Mexico. She moved from Eugene to Grants Pass in 1947 and from Grants Pass to White City 20 years ago.

Fern was a published poet and enjoyed writing poetry and creating flower crafts.

Survivors include a son, Terry Shields of Roseburg; and two brothers, Roy Wirtz and Harold Wirtz, both of Grants Pass. She was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Ray Shields in 1963.

Arrangements: Hull & Hull Funeral Directors, Grants Pass.

Hubert Phillips
A funeral for Hubert Phillips will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel. Chaplain Paul Hagedorn will officiate.

Mr. Phillips, 80, of Central Point, died Monday (May 2, 2005) at his home.

He served the U.S. Navy for three years during WWII.

Mr. Phillips worked in lumber mills in the Rogue Valley and retired from Medite after 25 years.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of Central Point; two sons, three daughters; and three step-daughters.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

LeRoy "Roy" Sander
The funeral service for LeRoy "Roy" Dee Sander will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brookhurst Chapel, Medford Second Ward with Bishop Gary Trapp officiating. Committal will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Mr. Sander, of Medford, died Monday, May 2, 2005.

He was born May 4, 1913 in Salt Lake City, UT to Waldemar and Mary Sander. Roy would have been 92 on his birthday. He was married to Marian Miller Sander who preceded him in death in 1970. In 1973 in Medford he married D. Marveda Hamner, who survives. He had lived in Oregon for the past 70 years, moving here from Salt Lake City.

Mr. Sander had managed a Safeway Grocery Store in Portland and later in Grants Pass. After his career, he had a house moving business, "Roy Sander House Moving." Mr. Sander was a lifetime member, Past Branch President and Sunday School Superintendent of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing and RV'ing.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Marveda, include three sons, from his first marriage, Larry of Idaho, Charles & Renee of Hamilton, VA and Leonard of Medford; his children by marriage, Wesley Hamner of Eagle Point, Keith Hamner & Terry Tunnell of Portland, Mickie & Mike Jarvill of Burlington, WA, Judy Carey & Van Larson of Couer de Alene, ID; Jackie & Dennis Rodgers of Medford, son-in-law, David Manitsas of Newburg, OR; 22 grandchildren, Amanda, Trinity, Alicia and Madison Hamner, Dale Jr. and Christopher Wolfard, Mona, Matt and Randy Rodgers, Levi, Laurie Ann, Luke and Lindsey Manitsas, Amy Blake Larson and Matthew Carey, Kym Dills, Kristen Tuttle, Jaime Jarvill, CJ Sander, Jolene, Danielle and Darcelle Sander; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Dr. Jim Barnes of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Manitsas and three granddaughters; two brothers, Merle and Glen; eight sisters, Erma, Ettie, Birdie, Dora, Viola, Althea, Marva and Melva.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 6, 2005 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Brookhurst Chapel, 2141 Brookhurst, Medford.

Arrangements by: Memory Gardens Mortuary.
