William L. Aker, 73, of Ashland, died Tuesday (October 4, 2005) at his home. Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternative, Medford.

Leonard Chandler
A memorial service for Leonard Chandler, 78 years old will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2005 at the Central Point Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at Fifth and Oak.

Leonard was born in Cardston Alberta, Canada on September 30, 1927, Son of Steven and Blanche Chandler, US Citizens. His parents moved to Plano, Idaho when he was 9 years old, where he grew up. He later married Marie Clark who survives.

Leonard served in the U.S. Navy toward the end of World War II.

He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1952 and worked in the lumber industry. He worked for Red Blanket Lumber company in Prospect OR and retired from Timber Products in Medford.

In addition to his wife, Marie, survivors include his brother, Lloyd Chandler; sister, Millie Arnold, both of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter Bonnie Bost; and two grandsons, Brian and Curtis, both of Central Point.

Barbara Ann Brown
Barbara Ann Brown, 71, of Ashland, died Saturday (October 22, 2005) at her residence. Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Vera L. McMillan, 83, of Talent, died Sunday (October 23, 2005) at Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford. Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Walter Wassum
Walter Wassum, 84, died Saturday, (October 22, 2005) in Medford. He was born on July 20, 1921. Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home and Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.

Agnes "Marie" Cardwell
Agnes "Marie" Cardwell, 76, of Redmond, Oregon (formerly of the Rogue Valley) died May 28, 2005. A funeral service has been held. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park on Monday, June 6, 2005 in Medford.

She was born on Jan. 28, 1929 in Sams Valley, OR to Nate Joseph and Linnie (Morgan) Milkowski. She grew up and attended school in Gold Hill, OR and Sams Valley. On Nov. 10, 1955 in Medford she married David Cardwell who preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 2000.

Marie worked when she was younger in the pear orchards in the Rogue Valley. She worked later as a secretary in Scio Public Schools and for a mint distiller in Jefferson, OR.

She was a member of the Lady Elks.

Marie enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, reading and birdwatching. She was a member of the Modoc Indian Tribe, and enjoyed hunting in her younger years on the reservation in Klamath Falls.

Survivors include her sons, Kenneth Cardwell (Diane) of Redmond, and Ed Cardwell (Elaine) of Albany, OR; a brother, Wayne Milkowski of Crescent City, CA; and six grandchildren.

Arrangements: Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home, Redmond, OR.

Bonnie Nellie Nicholson McAlister
Bonnie Nellie Nicholson McAlister 80, of Helena, Montana (formerly of the Rogue Valley), passed away Wednesday, at Rocky Mountain Care Center.

Bonnie was born August 11, 1924, at the family home in Kellogg, ID to Alexander C. and Mabel Ruth (Sly) Nicholson. She was the youngest of five children. Bonnie grew up and received her education in Kellogg.

After high school the family moved to Medford, Oregon and Bonnie worked at USO canteens in California, Arizona, Michigan, and New Jersey returning to Oregon in 1943. While working at the USO Canteen in White City, she met Vernon Russell Carlson, who was in the Army. They married but soon divorced, one child was born to this marriage. Bonnie then met John Earl McAlisier. She married John in Portland, July 3, 1946.

In 1963, John and Bonnie moved back to Medford, and in 1994, they moved to Helena, MT to be close to her son, Brett. John preceded her in death August 31, 1997. In 1998, Bonnie moved into the Eagles Manor where she made many friends. In 2004, she moved into the Rocky Mountain Care Center.

Bonnie leaves behind numerous friends and acquaintances. Bonnie was a stay at home wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was well known for her cooking and canning. She enjoyed traveling to Reno once a year and road trips scouting for the yearly deer hunt. Two big highlights of her life were her road trip with John to Alaska in 1968, and when she went on a deer hunt in 1979, and bagged a buck on the last day of the season, just hours before sunset.

Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, putting together puzzles, and playing card games. She will be remembered for her sharpness at playing cards. We will all miss that "gotch ya" smile she had when she won.

In addition to her husband, Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorothy; and her brother, Robert. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Brett (Patti) McAlister of Helena, MT; grandchildren, Johnathon (Marioh) McAlister, of Ypsilanti, MI and Michele McAlister, of Helena, MT; great-grandchildren, Heather Egolf, and Krysile Egolf, both of Helena, MT and Sean and Angela McAlister, both of Ypsilanti, MI; her sisters, Thora B. Johnson of Redding, CA and Clinty Sherman of Spanish Pork, UT; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Per Bonnie's wishes, no service will be held. A private family good-bye will be held at a later date.

Memorials in Bonnie's name are suggested to Boy Scouts of America, 820 7th Ave., South Great Falls, MT 59405; or to the 4-H Club, P.O. Box 855, of Helena, MT 59624, or the Hospice of St Peter's Hospital, 2475 Broadway, Helena, MT 59601 or to an organization of the donor's choice.

Cremation has taken place with Hagler Anderson Funeral Home in Helena, MT, caring for the arrangements.

Cheri Moore Donahoo
Cheri Moore Donanoo, 54, of Central Point, died May 20, 2005. At her request no services are planned.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1951 in Redwood City, California.

Cheri moved to Oregon in 1972 and married Jim Donahoo in 1975, who survives.

She was a dancer with the Oakland Ballet before her marriage, and remained an avid enthusiast of ballet and theatre.

Cheri was employed by Southern Oregon University for 19 years. She was a past union president for OPEU. She was a strong advocate for human rights and workers rights.

She enjoyed traveling the world and the last two years traveld to the island of Bali, which she loved.

In addition to her husband, Jim, survivors include her mother, Doris Moore of Belmont, CA; three brothers, Curt Moore of Daly City, CA, Bill Moore of Napa, CA. Mike Moore of Redding, CA. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Moore.

Beautiful spirit touching lives every day forever.... always.

Edwina (Edie) Robins
November 12, 1921 - May 30, 2005

She walked with us in grace and loving-kindness. Edie was a wonderful mother and friend. She believed the only things we regret in life are the things we did not do and wish we had and encouraged us all to live accordingly. She loved to travel, she loved her garden, and she treasured the written word and the voice of the sea.

Edie was born in Haxton, Colorado and died at home with her family in Medford, Oregon. She is survived by her daughter, Janine Salvatti, Son-in-Law Les Nimmo, nephews Brett and Jack Hawtin, and niece Julie Camacho.

She enjoyed several occupations during her life but none as satisfying as nursing. She took pride in the fact that she obtained her nursing degree at 48 and practiced until her retirement at 70. She said it was the hardest job she ever did but it was also the most fulfilling.

A memorial service to celebrate Edie's life will be held at Siskiyou Memorial Park, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd, Medford, Monday, June 6, 2005 at 3:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Asante Hospice, 2960 Doctor's Park Drive, Medford, Oregon 97504 or Talking Book Service, Oregon State Library 250 Winter St. NE, Salem, OR 97301.

Elizabeth Tuthill Drumm
Elizabeth Tuthill Drumm, 86, of Medford, died Monday, May 30, 2005 at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

No services are planned. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth was born April 13, 1949 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She worked as a civilian for the U.S. Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia until 1967. She moved from Virginia to Grants Pass in 1967 and moved to Medford in 2003.

Survivors include two daughters, Lela E. Larkin of Medford, and Leslie Hudson of Lynchburg, Virginia; a son, Wayne Bower of Titusville, Florida; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Drumm.

In Loving Tribute
Jimmy Joe Hanna Went to be with his Lord, June 3, 2005 He is survived by his wife, Judy; his daughters, Kristina and Samiejo; father, Stanley; sister, Lory, her husband Billy, and their children: Rachael and Matthew Chorney; brother, Roger; and so many other family and friends.

Jimmy Joe lived life with a passion and love for people. He enjoyed bowling with his friends, family gatherings, and his trips to the Oregon coast with his love, Judy. He also enjoyed working at the Christmas tree lot during the holidays.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Oncology Dept. at Providence Hospital. The loving care you gave to Jimmy Joe (as well as the rest of us) truly went beyond all expectations. Thank you for showing such dignity in our time of grief.

A great thank you goes to his friends and coworkers at Timber Products. He loved his job and couldn't wait to get back to work.

We the family would also like to say a very gracious and heartfelt thank you, with love, to all of you who have supported and continue to support this extended Hanna family. Samiejo knows of the love people have expressed towards this family. He saved the lives of many people, including hers.

A private gathering is planned.

Jimmy Joe, you were my love and my life. If I could have one more wish, it would be to have just one more day . . . One more sunset with you. I love you dearly, truly and forever . . . 1 - 4 - 3 . . . Judy.

Joyce Ann McMahon
Joyce McMahon went home to be with her Lord on June 1, 2005.

Joyce was born Feb. 2, 1949 in Medford, Oregon to Lind and Effa (Corliss) McBeth. She grew up in Jacksonville, Oregon. Graduating from Medford High School in 1967. She went on to earn her LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) license in 1976 but was unable to pursue a career in that field due to cancer. After winning her battle with cancer, she was then diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

Joyce was married to Robert McMahon who preceded her in death in 1986. She is survived by her father Lind McBeth, and 2 sisters, Theresa Bennett of Jacksonville, and Pat Hamlin of Central Point. She was preceded in death by her mother, Effa McBeth in January 2004.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Medford and the Central Point Community Bible Church.

All who knew Joyce will remember her for her deep love of Jesus Christ and her commitment to prayer and bible study. She completed the task God called her to with grace and dignity. Now she can dance with the angels.

She will be deeply missed by her family and all her faithful friends that visited her regularly and the wonderful, caring nursing staff at Three Fountains Nursing Ctr., and the Providence Hospice Staff.

A Memorial service to celebrate the life of Joyce will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at the First Baptist Church on Crater Lake Ave. in Medford.

Memorial contributions can be made to: Providence Hospice, 1660 E. McAndrews, Medford, OR 97504.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford. When you are struggling with the issues of your life remember me - It was, and is, and always has been about Jesus.

Kathleen H. Wilson
Kathleen H. Wilson, 85, died Friday, May 17, 2005. A private family observance is planned.

She was born in LaGrande and graduated from the University of Oregon. She married George M. Wilson and after WWII they moved to Medford.

Kathleen taught third grade at Oak Grove school and became a life master bridge player in retirement.

Survivors include three sons, George (Gary), Mark, Daniel, and four grandchildren.

Contributions in her memory may be sent to the ALS Foundation, 27001 Agoura Road No. 150, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301.

Mary Jean Smith
Mary Jean Smith, 93, of Medford (formerly of Central Point) died Tuesday (May 31, 2005) at Waterford, at Three Fountains. At her request no services are planned.

She was born on Sept. 9, 1911 in Yakima, WA to Walter and Hariett Arnold. On Aug. 7, 1934 in Yakima she married John R. Smith who preceded her in death in 1990. She had lived in Central Point for eight years before moving to Waterford.

Mrs. Smith worked as a nurse and a housewife.

She loved her family and enjoyed reading, working puzzles and playing cards.

Survivors include her sons Robert Smith and daughter-in-law Patricia of Central Point, and David Smith and daughter-in-law Cynthia of Brookings; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Arnold, and her husband.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris, Central Point Chapel.
