Eugene "Jim" Carrigan
Eugene James "Jim" Carrigan, 74, of Central Point died Nov. 7, 2005 at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A celebration of his life will be held from 12- 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005 at 500 Meadowbrook Drive, Central Point. A private interment was held at Rock Point cemetery.

Jim was born on Oct. 14, 1931 in Columbia Heights, Minnesota, a son of Eugene B and Anna (Lach) Carrigan. He married the former Opal Lown on April 15, 1952, who survives.

Memorial contributions many be made to the charity of choice.

Jim and his family moved to the Medford area in 1945 from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He had owned and operated a welding business for many years in White City.

He loved to hunt, fish, go bowling and golfing. He is survived by his wife; Opal, Central Point; four children, Thomas, Denver, Co., Raymond, Central Point, Barbara Henderson, Central Point, Curtis, Colorado Springs, Co.; two brothers, Gordon of Medford, David of Medford; four sisters; JoAnn Trautman of Central Point, Marlene Lunsford of Redmond, Joyce Bain, Central Point, Debra Crippen, Medford; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael; and a brother, Roger.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris, Central Point.

Leslie William Saffer
Les "Dub" Saffer passed away Saturday, November 5 on his 46th annual elk hunt on his beloved Grande Ronde River. He was born in Benton, KS on November 28, 1929. His life was marked by Love, Joy, and Kindness.

Les was a leader in his life. His charisma was contagious, people just wanted to be around him. He was a man who lived his values and set an example to both young and old. All those who Les touched felt accepted and were part of his circle of love.

Les set an example by retiring and living his dream of adventure in the outdoors while still committing time for family, friends, church, and community.

Les was a passionate man who lived his life with integrity and love. He died the same way, doing what he loved. Les was an extraordinary man and he will be missed by all those who were blessed to have known him.

Missing him most is the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Lorraine.

Les joins his daughter Lisa in heaven, who preceded him in death in 1990. His parents, Laura and Arvile, brother Harold, and sisters Wanda, Ida and Ruth also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; two sons, Steve and Greg; two daughters-in-law Sharon and Gwen; as well as seven grandchildren: Chris, Carrie, Kellie, Kimi, Matthew, Lianne, Amy; and four great-grandchildren: Kailey, Kyliah, Alisa, and Jeremiah. He is also survived by one brother, Wayne; sister-in-law, Phyllis; sisters: Dolores, Marie, Evelyn, Azzlee, and Pauline; brothers-in-law: Emer, Clinton, Charlie, Leon; and many other friends and relatives.

Funeral service will be at Saint Anne's Catholic Church in Grants Pass at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 11, and reception following at 1:30 p.m. at Saint Patrick's in Cave Junction.

Lowell Y. Nelson
The memorial service for Lowell Yerington Nelson will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Talent Methodist Church with Pastors William and Mary Ellen Hare officiating.

Mr. Nelson, 54, of Talent, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2005.

He was born Dec. 22, 1950 in Grants Pass, OR where he lived until he was 18. On Mar. 19, 1977 in Portland, he married Victoria Lynn Cofoed, who survives.

He had attended Hamlin School of Law in St. Paul, MN and Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR. He had lived in the Rogue Valley for the past 21 years, and had been a school teacher at North Medford High School for 13 years, having to retire in 2000 due to illness. In his classroom, he enjoyed having mock trials with the students.

Mr. Nelson was a member of the Talent Methodist Church.

Survivors in addition to his wife Vicki, include: his daughter, Lynn M. Nelson of Talent; his mother, Martha Nelson of Grants Pass; and a sister, Karen L. Nelson of Phoenix, OR.

Memorial contributions may be made to the: Talent Methodist Church, PO Box 297, Talent, OR 97540.

Lydia Moody
Our Dear Mother, Lydia Moody, passed away unexpectedly and quickly in her home on November 2, 2005. She was 84 years old.

After her parents, David and Margaret Geisel, fled Russia to Germany, she was born in Kallau, Germany on April 12, 1921. They moved to the U.S. when she was two years old and the family eventually settled in Gering, Nebraska. She attended school in Gering but because of the need to help her family, she only completed the 8th grade. She often talked of working in the sugar beets as a young girl. On December 11, 1938, in Lyman, Nebraska, she married Lawrence M. Moody, who preceded her in death in December of 2000. A few years later, they moved to Portland, Oregon. During WW II, she worked as a burner in the shipyards while her husband was fighting in Europe. In 1962 they moved to Central Point where she resided until she was moved into her son's home in May of 2004.

The Moody's were one of five families that started Medford Neighborhood Church. She was a member there until the time of her death. She was in charge of the nursery there for many years and was also involved with Women's Ministries.

She loved to garden. People would stop by her house to comment on her beautiful yard. She also sewed, knitted, and was extremely talented with crocheting.

She leaves behind three children: Brenda Geiger of Central Point, David Moody of Medford and Cynthia Hamasu of Medford; four sisters, Elizabeth Unzicker of Portland, OR, Irene Schwartzkoph of Portland, OR, Hilda Khoury of Venice, CA, and Darlene Wiege of Portland, OR; nine grandchildren; and eight great-granddaughters. Two sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at Medford Neighborhood Church on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005 at 10 a.m. Anyone wishing to pay their respects may do so at Conger Morris Funeral Home in Medford between 3 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 11. A Graveside service will be held Monday at 1l a.m. at the Veterans cemetery in Eagle Point.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Moody Memorial Fund at the Medford Neighborhood Church, 1819 Stewart Avenue, Medford, OR 97501.

Mary Antee Morris
Mary Antee Morris, 90, of Millerton, OK, (formerly of Medford) passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at Memorial Heights Nursing Home.

She was born December 10, 1914, at Winthrop, AR. the daughter of Enoch and Electa Stephens.

Mary had owned and operated a pottery shop and was affiliated with the Methodist Faith. She had lived in Millerton for fifteen months, moving there from Medford.

She loved spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Morris; her parents, Enoch & Electa Stephens.; two brothers, Joseph Stephens and Jack Stephens. She.leaves to cherish her memory one son and daughter-in-law, John and Mary Phillips of Millerton; three grandchildren, Eddy Phillips and wife, Beverly of Oologah, OK., Joe Phillips and wife, Barbara of Rufe, OK, and Tammy Poer and husband, Allen of Red Oak, TX.; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great- granddaughter.

A memorial service was held at Brumley Funeral Home Chapel in Idabel, OK. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2005 at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home Chapel Ashland, Ore. Interment will follow in Scenic Hills Memorial Park under the direction of Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Omer Avon "Chick" Crose
Omer Avon Crose, 94, of Eagle Point, died Thursday, Nov. 3 at Hearthstone in Medford. Known to family and friends as "Chick", a nickname he received a a child who loved to play with baby chicks.

He was born on Dec. 7, 1910 in Hanford, CA. He was the ninth of eleven children.

Chick married Minnie Burnett on July 7, 1934. He worked as a master welder throughout the agricultural industry in central California. During WW II, he welded on Navy ships in the Bay area. The Crose's lived in Hanford, Tulare and Coalings, California before moving to Oregon in the 1970s. They lived in Turner, Amity and Salem, and settled Eagle Point in 1991.

Chick enjoyed discussing politics and history, reading, playing pool and cards, traveling, gardening and spending time with family and friends. He was a man of great faith and lived a life of honesty and integrity.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie; sister, Dorothy Richards of Stockton, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. They had no children of their own, but opened their home to two foster sons, Chuck and Paul Pearce. His "adopted" Oregon family includes Jerry & Mary Scheffler, "grandchildren", David, Joe and Heidi, as well as five "great-grandchildren", Ryan, Ian, Jack, Alyson and Reagan Scheffler.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005 at 6:30 p.m. at Eagle Cove Assisted Living Community in Eagle Point.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Robert Eugene Rees
Robert Eugene Rees, 84, of North Bend, OR (formerly of Medford) died Friday (Nov. 4, 2005 in North Bend. At his request no services will be held. A celebration of his life will be held by his family at a later date.

Robert was born on May 15, 1921 in Decatur, IL where he grew up and met his wife, Vera Maxine, who preceded him in death. He moved to North Bend in 2004 from Medford.

He served with the 398th Bomb Group in the 8th Air Force during WWII from January 1943 until October 1945. He flew 11 missions, and was shot down twice. He was a prisoner of war from July 1944 until May 1945. After being honorably discharged, he moved to Arizona where his two children were born and later moved to Oregon where he settled in Medford.

Robert worked for the Oregon Department of Transportation until his retirement.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing baseball, reading and spending time with his family.

Surivors include his son, Robert Curtis Rees of Redding, CA; his daughter, Brenda Kay Hobbs of North Bend, OR. He was a joy to his seven grandchildren and his eight great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Coos Bay Chapel, Coos Bay.

Ruth Pauline Donaldson
Ruth Pauline Donaldson, 86, of Medford, died November 7, 2005 at Rogue Valley Manor Health Center.

A funeral mass will be Friday, November 11, 2005 at 10 a.m at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Ruth was born on June 5, 1919 in Great Falls, MT. She graduated from Great Falls High School and attended Montana State. On December 24, 1941 in Petersburg, VA she married Norman Donaldson.

Ruth worked for General Electric in Office Administration, later she and her husband started and operated a carnival business providing fund raising services to schools, churches, military and other charitable organizations. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1995 from Arroyo Grande, CA.

A member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she was active in parish churches and children's schools. Ruth enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Fagan of Freano, CA; a son, Steven of Anaheim, CA; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are with Perl Funeral Home.

Tammie Dale Hannah Snavely
September 23, 1955 - November 1, 2005

Tammie was born to Thomas D. and Frances E. Hannah on Sept. 23, 1955, in Medford, Oregon and passed away on November 1, 2005 in Olney, Montana at the age of 50.

Tammie lived most of her life in Southern Oregon. She met the love of her life, David Snavely, in Medford, in 1987, on her favorite holiday, Oct. 31. They were married in Reno, Nevada on March 31, 1990 and lived in Medford, Oregon until they settled in Olney, Montana on October 31, 2004.

Tammie was a teller at Whitefish Credit Union where she loved to work every day that she was there.

She is survived by her husband, David Snavely; daughter, Sara McGrew and husband Corey; daughter, Michelle Lee; son, Shayne Lee; grandchildren, Donovan, KayLeen, T.J., Kayleb and Shaun; parents, Thomas and Cheryl Hannah; parents, Beth and Wayne Summit; sister, Jody Luney and husband Ken; brother, Michael Hannah and wife Melody; sister-in law, Melody Hannah; grandparents, Everett and Vera Hannah; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jeff Hannah in 2001 Tammie had a beautiful smile that could light up any room, a giving heart, and laughter in her eyes. We were proud to call her mother, wife, daughter, sister, granddaughter, grandmother and friend.

We will miss her and she will forever be in our hearts. A gathering for friends and family is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday, November 13, at the Upper Rogue Community Center, 22465 Hwy 62, in Shady Cove.

A memorial fund has been established at the Whitefish Credit Union, 300 Baker Ave., Whitefish, Montana 59937.

Clara Marie Etta Harper
Clara Marie Etta Harper, age 98, of Medford, died Tues., Nov. 8, 2005 at a local foster care home. Arrangements: Abbey Funeral.

Kenneth R. Weissgerber
Kenneth "Ken" Robert Weissgerber, age 71, of Medford, died on November 8, 2005. Arrangements: Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, Medford.

Larry A. Schlumpberger
Larry A. Schlumpberger, 85, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at his home. Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley-L.B. Hall Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

Robert McCauley A memorial service for Robert McCauley will be at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford.

Mr. McCauley, 87, formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Oct. 22, 2005. A full obituary ran at an earlier date in the Mail Tribune.

Roberta Clark
Roberta Clark, 90, of Medford, died Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at Hearthstone Manor. Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

C. Irene Hufteling
C. Irene Hufteling, 79, of Central Point died Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at her residence. At her request no service is planned. Friends and family will celebrate her life in their thoughts and hearts.

She was born Clarissa Irene Wroe on June 26, 1926 in North Bend, Oregon. She graduated from Smith River High School. She met Richard "Dick" Hufteling while attending business college in Eugene. They were married on April 7, 1947 and became dairy farmers on the family ranch in Smith River. In 1953 they moved to the Rogue Valley where he became Head Electrician for Boise Cascade Lumber Co. (then Elk Lumber Co.) Irene was an active volunteer with the Red Cross for many years. She also worked closely with the Easter Seals.

She was a Master Gardener and delighted in her beautiful yard.

Irene was a member of Alpha Lambda Chapter of ESA for over 30 years. She held several offices, including President in 1969 and she was Woman of the Year in 1970.

She enjoyed painting, cooking, gardening, sewing, and mushroom hunting.

Survivors include her son, Richard Dan Hufteling; daughter, Sandra O'Brien; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 56 years.

The family would like to thank the people at Alderwood Assisted Living, she felt so loved and protected by you all.

Irene was a loving wife, mom, grandmother and friend. She will truly be missed.
