Walter H. Morton
Walter H. Morton, 88, passed away January 11, 2006 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born Sept. 7, 1917 in Cooleemee, N.C. to Culpepper and Cora Morton.

Walter was in the Navy for 17 years, playing baseball most of that time. In a double header he met his wife to be, Bess Stapleton. After the service Walter was a Customs Inspector in the Panama Canal Zone, where the couple's 3 children were born. The family moved to the United States in 1954.

They settled in Southern California where Walter worked for ITT Gilfillan. After the kids had grown Walter and Bess moved all over. They lived in Prospect, Or. 18 years where he worked for Forest Service. After that they moved to Glendora, West Covina, and Palm Springs, Calif. From there they moved to Mocksville, N.C., finally settling in Lake Havasu City, AZ, where they lived for the past 11 years.

Walter was a Master Mason, and while in Oregon he became a Lion. The Lions organization was very close to Walter's heart. He held most of the offices in Lions, being most proud of his Oregon District Governor position. Walter was looking forward to his daughter Margie Tellkamp becoming District Governor in Lions 21-A .

Walter is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Bess Morton; sons, Jim Morton and wife Charlene from Shingletown, CA, Wally Morton and wife Linda from Redding, CA; daughter, Margie Tellkamp and husband Bob from Lake Havasu City, AZ; and sister, Jackie Morton from Cooleemee, NC. Walter had 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Harold, Robert, and Culvin.

Donations can be made in his name to the Lions Foundations of Lake Havasu City Dog Park.

Mort, Walter, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, and "Unc" will be missed.

Henry John Kleker, age 77, of Eagle Point died Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at his residence. Arrangements by Abbey Funeral.

Richard Lee Nelson, Jr., age 21, of Grants Pass, died Monday, January 30, 2006 at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Arrangements by Abbey Funeral.

Walter R. Bolz, 92, of Phoenix, OR, died February 1, 2006.

Henry John Kleker
Henry (Hank) J. Kleker, 77, passed away at his Eagle Point home on February 1, 2006.

He was born June 10, 1928 to Henry E. and Violet M. Kleker in Chicago, IL. At the age of 18 Henry enlisted in the United States Navy. He married Mary Jean Peters on December 27, 1952 in Reno, NV. They lived in Ontario, OR, eventually living in California, Southern Oregon and Wyoming before returning to Southern Oregon in 1988. Hank and Jean, who recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary, raised five children as well as numerous foster children in their loving home.

Hank worked as a milkman, butcher, mailman, and was the Postmaster in Gillette, WY and Drain, OR. He also served as a volunteer ambulance driver in his spare time. Hank retired from the postal service in 1987. Since returning to Southern Oregon he and his wife have enjoyed traveling, especially to see their adult children in California, Montana, and Alaska. A hard worker, Hank stayed busy through retirement working for RB Furniture in Eagle Point and Airport Chevrolet in Medford. He was also very involved at the Brownsboro Community Bible Church where he served as an elder. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ and is now at home with Him.

He is survived by his wife Mary Jean. Sons: John and his wife Wendy, Livingston, MT; Bob and Laurie, Eagle Point, OR; Jim and Michelle, Carmichael, CA; daughter: Kathleen and her husband Shane Stephenson, Juneau, AK; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren with two additional great-grandchildren expected to arrive in 2006.

Hank is preceded in death by his twin sister Louise McGorray, son Ed Kleker, and granddaughter Amber Stephenson.

A memorial service to honor a great man, father, grandfather and friend will be held at Eagle Point Community Bible Church on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at 4:00pm. Donations may be made in Hank's name to the Medford Gospel Mission or the Brownsboro Community Bible Church building fund.

Lyman Ford (Smitty) Smith
Lyman Ford (Smitty) Smith, age 87, a longtime resident of Medford, OR, died January 31, 2006. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 4, at 1:00 PM, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford. Officiating pastor is Web Staunton of Applegate Fellowship.

Born in East Wolfeboro, NH, the only son of the late Ford and Marion Smith, Lyman moved west in his twenties, working at Yellowstone National Park and Grants Pass. He worked for Robert Dollar in Glendale, at Diamond Lake, and for the McDonald Wholesale Candy Company, from which he retired in 1974. He married Alice Leone Houck of Grants Pass on Thanksgiving Day of 1949.

Lyman was a 32nd degree Mason, member of Warren Lodge #10, Jacksonville, OR, Royal Arch Masons of Oregon, Scottish Rites, and Chanters. Also a member of the Eagles, he enjoyed dancing, singing and socializing with his friends.

Lyman is survived by his son Phillip Houck and wife Doris of Jacksonville; a sister Alice Harvey of Concord, MA; a brother-in-law Robert Wilson, a son-in-law Garry Olson, two nephews, three grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Lyman was preceded in death by his wife Alice and his daughter Marian.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Childrens Hospital, Portland, OR.

Richard Lee Nelson Jr.,
Richard Lee Nelson, Jr., age 21, of Grants Pass died Monday, January 30, 2006 at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford.

Richard was born on March 23, 1984 at Sunnyside, Washington to Richard Lee Nelson Sr. and Jenice Lynn Wilkinson Nelson.

He is survived by his daughter Haley Angelina Ross and her mother Sarah Ross, both of Clifton, Colorado; his mother Jenice Nelson and her partner Jack Sanders, II, both of Grants Pass; brother Eric Nelson of Talent; three sisters, Liz Allridge of Norwood, Colorado, Angie Barnes of Minersville, Utah and Brandy Williams of Cedar City, Utah; grandmothers, Deloris Nelson of Central Point and Sue Storzbach of Baker City, Oregon.

He was preceded in death by his father Richard Nelson, Sr.; and grandfathers, Max Nelson and Emmett Wilkinson.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church; 1900 Crater Lake Ave., Medford.

Stanley E. Jensen a.k.a. Taco
Stanley Jensen, 58, passed away on January 30, 2006 at his home in Medford.

There will be a memorial service held at 2:00 p.m. on February 10, 2006 at Harvest Baptist Temple in Medford.

Stanley was born on September 19, 1947 in San Francisco, CA to Lupe Montes. He married Patricia Bowen on July 9, 1969. Stanley owned and operated gas stations in the 70's and 80's and worked as a foreman at Cascade Wood Products. He also managed travel centers in Alaska for 10 years. His last job was co-managing the Pilot Travel Center in Central Point until retiring in 2004.

He was an avid San Francisco Giants fan, who really enjoyed travelling in his R.V.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Jensen; son Stan Rico Jensen; son, Patrick Jensen and wife Jolie; daughter, Heidi Mallari and husband Mark; two granddaughters, Cezanna and Lydia; two grandsons, Troy and Derek.

His mother Lupe Montes preceded him in death in 1991. Memorial Contributions can be made to Harvest Baptist Temple, 2001 South Columbus, Medford, OR 97501

Edwin Milne
Edwin Milne, age 87, died February 2, 2006 in Medford. He was born on October 21, 1918. Perl Funeral Home and Siskiyou Memorial Park are in charge of arrangements.

James R. Snow
James R. Snow, 53, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford.

Peggy M. Meloth
Peggy M. Meloth, 79, of Shady Cove died Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at her residence. Arrangements by Abbey Funeral.

Rachel M. Zomerdyk
Rachel M. Zomerdyk, age 18, died January 29, 2006 in California. She was born on April 15, 1987. Graveside serives will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2006, at the Siskiyou Memorial Park. Perl Funeral Home and Siskiyou Memorial Park are in chareg of arrangements.

Shirley L. Mitchell
Memorial services for Shirley L. Mitchell, 81, (Nov. 1, 1924) of Shady Cove, who died Jan. 31, 2006 in Medford, will be 6:00 p.m. tonight (Feb. 3) at the Eagle Point Church of Latter-day Saints. Arrangements by Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel.

William Downie Thorndike
William D. Thorndike, age 82, of Medford, OR died on January 31, 2006. Arrangements by Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, Medford, OR.

Alma Bernice Grable
Alma Bernice Grable passed away. No service will be held per her request.

Alma was born in South Bend, Indiana on October 22, 1929 to Roy and Lula (Hanback) Anderson. She graduated from Roseland Community School of nursing and Depaul University in Chicago. She served in the USAF as a 1st Lt. After working as a Nurse for 39 years, she retired and moved with her husband, William W. Grable, to Medford in December of 1988. He passed away on November 16, 2001.

Survivors include daughter Maureen Anglin, Redwood City, CA; son Mark and his wife, Janet, Marsing, ID; sister Alice Pease, Fort Myer, FL. Preceding her, besides her husband, were her parents and 4 brothers.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Medford Senior Center, 510 East Main, Medford, OR 97504.

Private burial will be held at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Walter Richard Bolz
Walter Richard Bolz, a native Oregonian, was born in Ashland, Oregon March 31, 1913 to Richard Frederick Bolz and Ida Ziglett Bolz, the sixth of eight children.

Walter passed away after a long illness February 1, 2006 in Medford, Oregon. He graduated from Phoenix High School, living most of his life in the Phoenix area except for the war years of 1941 to 1946 when he worked in the Swan Island Shipyards in Portland.

He married Eleanor M. Jarman, November 3, 1938 in the then Presbyterian Manse on 1st Street in Phoenix. Walter and Eleanor raised three children, Margaret, Richard and Diane.

Walter was a farmer, a carpenter, worked for the Phoenix School District and drove a school bus for twenty-five years. His life-long interest in automobiles developed into restoring antique cars. He belonged to the Horseless Carriage Club of America, Auburn Cord Dusenburg Car Club, the Rogue Valley Old Timers Car Club and the State of Jefferson Antique Car Club enjoying tours, swap meets and making many friends in the hobby.

Family mourning his loss includes his wife, Eleanor; daughter, Margaret and her husband Dick Croly; son, Richard Bolz; son-in-law, Win Trumbly; sisters, Violet Archer and Addie Simmonds; brother, Sydney Bolz; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Daughter Diane Trumbly; sisters, Mildred Allen and Elsie Wright; and brothers, Roy Bolz and Ernest Bolz preceded him in death.

The care and concern provided by Medford Rehabilitation Care Center were much appreciated by Walter and family.

Charles L. Hughes
Charles L. Hughes, age 87, of Central point died Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at his residence. Arrangements by Abbey Funeral.

Helen F. Althaus
Helen F. Althaus, 95, of Ashland, died, February 2, 2006 at home. Arrangements: Litwiller - Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

James Lee Montague
James Lee Montague, age 71, of White City, Oregon died February 2, 2006 at his home. A memorial mass will be held at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements handled by Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

John E. Simon
John Earl Simon, 76, of Medford, died Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Medford Rehabilitation Healthcare Center. Arrangements will be handled by Memory Gardens Mortuary.

John Ghiselli
John Ghiselli, 88, of Medford, Oregon died February 2, 2006 at Providence Medford Medical Center. Arrangements by Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Kellie Elaine Mulder
Kellie Elaine Mulder, 34, of Shady Cove, Oregon passed away on February 1, 2006 at her home. Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 6, at Table Rock Christian Fellowship. People may pay respects between 3 and 4 p.m. and service will begin at 4 p.m. at 3610 N. Pacific Highway in Medford.

Peter Norman Lunde
Peter Norman Lunde, age 59, of Medford, OR, died February 2, 2006. Arrangements by Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, Medford, Oregon.

Alvin Lee Smith
Alvin, 87, of Talent died Sunday Feb 12, 2006. He was born in Eugene, Oreg. on Jan. 16, 1919 to Ralph and Hester Smith.

He married Betty Chisholm who survives, in Crescent City, Calif. in 1951. He worked as a truck driver most of his life, the last twenty years before retirement for Jackson County Public Works.

He is survived by his children, Dennis and Kevin Smith; sisters, Stella Moore, Gail Thomason; and brother, Delmar Smith. His daughter, Wendy preceded him in death.

There will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of The Talent Library.

Dorothy M. Moore
Dorothy Moore, 89, passed away on Feb. 18, 2006 with her family at her side.

Dorothy was born Sept. 10, 1916 in Colton, OR. She and her husband Howard lived most of their lives in the Pinehurst-Greensprings area. For the past 8 years Dorothy was a resident of Skylark Assisted Living in Ashland. She is survived by daughters Janette Tackwell and Kay Scholer, 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Howard, and daughter Joanne Tackwell.

Helen E. Muller
Helen E. Muller passed away February 20, 2006 in Medford, OR. A service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 11:00 a.m.

Helen was born on September 28, 1920 to John and Musa Hegbery. She was married on July 9, 1940 in Ajo, Arizona. Her husband survives her. She retired from Oregon Department of Motor Vehicle after working there for 35 years.

Helen enjoyed quilting and gardening.

Survivors include her sons, John Muller of Grand Junction Colorado and Richard Muller of Eugene, OR; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Twedell.

Arrangments by Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary of Medford, Oregon.
