Faith R. Pedersen
The visitation for Faith Ruth Pedersen will be on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mrs. Pedersen, 80, of Chiloquin, formerly of Medford, died Saturday, March 11, 2006. She was born June 29, 1925 in Cottage Grove, OR. On March 10, 1990 in Eagle Point, she married Arthur Earl Pedersen, who survives.

She had lived in Chiloquin, OR for the past 12 years, moving there from Medford. She had been an accounting clerk at Bear Creek Corp. for over 25 years, before her retirement. She enjoyed RV traveling and square dancing.

Survivors in addition to her husband, include: a son, Brian Eugene Teague, Beaverton, OR; a daughter, Sylvia Celeste (Teague) Holden, White City; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and she was raised by Victor and Etta Shaw, Canyonville, OR. She was preceded in death by a brother, Abraham "Buddy" Lincoln Shaw.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Medford Eagles Lodge. Arrangements by: Memory Gardens Mortuary.

Oral L. Bell
Oral L. Bell, 86, of Medford, died Friday, March 10, 2006 at Providence Medical Center. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, March 17, 2006, at 1:00 pm, by Bishop Gary Trapp, of the Medford Second Ward, at The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints, located at 2141 Brookhurst, Medford, OR. Family will be paying their last respects from 12:00 noon to 12:40 pm. in the Relief Society Room at the above location. Burial will be at 3:00 pm with military honors at the Eagle Point National cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Oral and Helen Bell Educational Foundation, P. O. Box 1203, Medford, OR 97501.

Oral was born Nov. 15, 1919 to Earl Miller Bell and Amelia Marie West at Iowa Colony, TX. He grew up in Rising Star, TX. He often worked with his Dad as a young boy drilling water wells. He graduated from Rising Star High School in 1936 at age 16. He married Helen Jackson, June 6, 1941 in Alice, TX. They met while they were working for the Rialto and Rex theaters in Alice, TX. When the war came he enlisted as a single man in the Army Air Corp. on Dec. 9, 1941 because he wanted to be a pilot but the Army made him a cook and later promoted him to Sergeant. He served eleven months and was discharged due to a heart condition which forty years later was discovered to be a hole in his heart. It is thought by his doctors that he may be the longest known survivor of this defect.

Oral relocated his family to Portland, OR after the war where all their possessions were lost in the Vanport flood about 1948. The Red Cross, Salvation Army, and the companies Oral and Helen worked for were very helpful in getting them set up again. Oral graduated with a two-year accounting certificate from Binkey Walker Business College. In Oct. 1950 he went to work for the Internal Revenue Service. His first transfer was to Medford in 1952, about 1957 he was transferred to Roseburg but returned home to Medford in 1960. He retired in 1971, due to a stroke but learned to walk and talk again. He carried on with his interests in property management and building to the very end.

Oral is survived by his wife, Helen and four children, Dudley Bell of Central Point, Laura Tharp of Klamath Falls, Rebekah McConnel of Pocatello, Idaho, and Loretta Dalton of Patterson, CA. His 12 Grandchildren are Daniel and David Bell, Amie Phillips, Drew, Tyler, Darren and Misty Dalton, Lacy Fellers, Bryan, James, and Michael McConnel and Alex Tharp. At this counting there are 8 great grand children whom Oral knew and loved. The parents, brother and four sisters Oral loved all preceded him in crossing the veil to the other side.

Thomas L. Childers
February 5th 1927 - March 12th 2006

Thomas L. Childers passed away Sunday, March 12, 2006, from a recent stroke at the age of 79, surrounded by his family in Medford, Oregon. Thomas was born on a ranch in Stillwater, Oklahoma. For the past 55 years he resided in Eagle Point, Oregon.

Tom is survived by his wife Jean, whom he met at the age of 11 and then later married at age 20. They recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Tom is also survived by his son, Gary; daughter, Terri; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Manford and mother, Edith and a grandson.

Tom served his country during World War II as a member of the US coast guard. He was stationed on a naval frigate out of San Diego, California.

Tom was passionate about his hobbies. He was an excellent painter, flint knapper, fisherman, boat builder, skin-diver, hunter, craftsman and a mentor to many. Although he was a self-taught artist, his works will continue to be enjoyed by many.

His special interests included Indian history and being a member of the Crater Rock museum in Central Point. In his spare time he spent 35 plus years in the lumber industry. He got his last Elk on his 75th birthday and continued to hunt until the fall of 2005.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 17th at the Veterans cemetery in Eagle Point. Following the service a memorial celebration will be held at the Crater Rock Museum in Central Point. Arrangements are in the care of Perl Funeral Home.

Tom will be greatly missed by family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made in Tom's name to the Children's Advocacy Center at 816 W. 10th St. Medford, Or 97501.

Verona Rachel Martin
Verona Rachel Martin, 84, of Medford died March 13, 2006 at Edgewood Home for Ladies.

A memorial service will be Thursday, March 16, 1:00 pm at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park.

She was born October 11, 1921 at Porum, OK, a daughter of Edward Sands Gillies and Annle Rachel (Driskill) Gillies. As a teenager, Verona moved to Lovelock, NV and graduated from Pershing County High School. On June 7, 1941, in Lovelock, she married Louis Lincoln Martin. They had two sons, Edward Martin and Louis Leon Martin. In December 1997, she moved to Eagle Point, OR to be near her son, Louis, and his family.

Verona enjoyed her Lovelock community. She participated in many civic activities and was past president of the Rebekah Assembly of Nevada and was past Grand Representative of the Grand Chapter of Nevada Eastern Star. Her lifelong hobbies included crocheting, sewing and stamp collecting. She had a green thumb and enjoyed her many house plants.

Survivors include her son, Louis and wife, Deanna Martin; grandchildren, Steven G. Martin, Richard Cory Martin, David R. Young, Deborah D. Brudevold; five great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Debbie Lester of Eastwood Home for Ladies for her compassionate and loving care.

Burial will be in Big Meadow cemetery in Lovelock, NV at a later date.

Arrangements are with Perl Funeral Home.

Wallace A. Swanson
Wallace A. Swanson, 89, passed away March 10, 2006.

Wally was born on November 17, 1916 in Fargo, ND. In 1940, he married Leva Redahl (Hettinger, ND). After six years in the Panama Canal Zone they lived in Eugene where he has resided until recently, moving to Central Point to live with his daughter and son-in-law, Helenann and Maurice (Zeke) Ziegler.

He is survived by his brother, Phil Swanson; daughters and sons-in-law, Helenann and Zeke Ziegler, Robin and Jim Dancey; his grandsons, Skai Dancey, and David and Mark Ziegler; one great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial will be held in Eugene at Central Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Central Point or the Central Point Senior Center where he made many new friends in the short time he lived here.

Gladys Marie Reynolds
Gladys Marie Reynolds, 89, of Ashland, died Sunday, March 12, 2006 at Linda Vista Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Arrangements are pending at Southern Oregon Cremation Services.

James Alton Cox
James Alton Cox, 86, of Central Point, died Saturday, March 11, 2006. Arrangements by Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel - 664-3361.

Katherine Davis
Katherine Davis, age 53, of Ashland, Oregon died March 14, 2006 at Ashland Community Hospital. There will be a private interment at Rock Point cemetery in Gold hill. Arrangements handled by Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

Lary Glenn Shipp
Lary Glenn Shipp, age 62, of Medford, OR, died March 13, 2006. Arrangements by Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, Medford, Oregon.

Maurine G. Tomlin, 85, of Medford, Ore., died March 12, 2006.

Barney A. Nunley
Barney A. Nunley, 90, passed away February 11 at the V.A. Medical Center in Roseburg.

He was born on July 25, 1915 near Ballinger, Texas and lived the majority of his adult life in Oregon. He enjoyed fishing and telling "tall tales." Barney is survived by his son, John and wife, Toni, Tualatin; daughter, Becky Greene, Medford; brother, Morris and sister, Dona; and four grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janet and nine siblings.

No service is planned. Memorial contributions can be made to the V.A. Medical Center in Roseburg.

Bernice Erma Hewitt
Bernice Erma Hewitt died peacefully in her sleep February 15, 2006. She was born February 8, 1910 in Dashler, Nebraska to George and Ida Wright. She moved with her family to Oregon after living in Santa Anna, CA. On November 10, 1931 she married Roy Fredrick Hewitt and enjoyed 57 years together before Roy passed away in 1988.

Bernice enjoyed an active life in the Rogue Valley. She celebrated her 90th birthday above the valley in a hot air balloon. She was a member of the Medford Friends Church, Southern Oregon CB Club, DeBarr Girls, and the Organ Club. She was active in the local Girls Scouts and the PTA. She spent many happy days gardening, hunting, fishing, and going to the coast to ride on the sand dunes. Her house was an open door to friends and family, who often sat on the back porch telling stories long into the evenings.

Her loving husband, Roy; daughter, Barbara; parents; four brothers; and one sister preceded Bernice in death. She is survived by her son, Charles Hewitt and wife, Sylvia of Central Point; her daughter, Rosalie Bagwell and her husband, Ed of Roseburg; her sister, Martha Ekwall of Central Point; and brothers, Claude Wright and his wife, Mary of Phoenix, OR, and Charles Wright and his wife, Jeanette of Willcox, AZ. Her eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren treasured the time they had with their "Grandma Bernie." She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Public viewing will be at Conger-Morris on West Main on Wednesday, February 22nd from 3 to 7 p.m. There will be a memorial service at the Medford Friends Church on February 23rd at 1:00 p.m.

Durrell (Red) White
Durrell (Red) White, died Tues. Feb 14 at Prov. Med. Center surrounded by his loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ada and Bill White, son David and grandson Ben Grant.

Red was born in Addison Alabama on Feb. 17, 1931, But thought of himself as a Californian as he was only three years old when his family moved near to Madera CA.

Red Married Jackie Hartwig on Sept. 1, 1951 who survives and lives here in Sams Valley. Red joined the Marine Corps in 1952 During the Korean War; he proudly served as a control tower operator. After his discharge, he returned to Madera where he was a partner in the auto dealership "Hartwig Motors". When this business was sold, he joined "Blythe & Co." as an investment banker in the San Jose office.

In 1973, after falling in love with So. Oregon, he moved his family to Medford where he established his firm "White Heart Homes", later his son Joel joined him as a partner.

Red was a life long lover of horses, especially Morgan Horses. He was a member of several horse clubs in Jackson Co. In the last 20 years, Red competed in Endurance races and was an enthusiastic supporter of the sport. Survivors other than his wife Jackie are: Stephen White (wife Scherie) of Duarte, Ca; Joel White (wife Debbie) of Medford; daughter Lisa Grant of Central Point; eight Grand children; two Great Granddaughters; sisters, Nelda Lynn Mewhirter of Fresno Ca., Nora June Shepherd of Central Point and Sarah Barnett of Madera Ca.

Memorial services to be held 3pm Feb.24 at the VA National cemetery in Eagle Point.

Lewis Flores
Lewis Flores, 88, of Medford, OR, died February 16, 2006. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 21st at 1:00 PM at the Eastwood Baptist Church.

Lewis was born January 8, 1918 in Oxnard, California to Frank and Jessie Flores. He moved to Central Point in 1966 and to Medford in 1977. In April of 1938, in Arizona, he married Vera Flores.

Lewis was the owner of an Exxon Gas Station, retired. His hobbies were collecting and restoring antique clocks, and koi. He was a member of the Eastwood Baptist Church. Lewis served in the U.S. Army from May 1941 through July 1945 in the European Theatre.

He is survived by one son, Lewis "Dusty" Flores, Jr. of California; three daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Riley (Gary Ward) of Portland, Lorraine (John) Van Order of Klamath Falls, and Christine Flores (Dan Lindquist) of Medford; two sisters, Vickie Green of Washington, and Dora Pena of California; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera, on June 18, 2005; and his sister, Lola Lopez.

RICHARD "Dick" DAVISSON WYATT
1923-2006

Dick Wyatt was born August 11, 1923, in Lebanon, Oregon and died at Rogue Valley Medical Center on February 18, 2006. He moved to the Rogue Valley at age three and lived in Central Point. His parents were Ray and Frances Wyatt of Central Point, who operated the Table Rock Store for 23 years until 1962. He graduated from Central Point High School in 1941 and then attended Oregon State University before going into the Navy from 1943 to 1946. Upon his return, he attended Multnomah Radio School, during this time he met his future wife "Bee" and they were married April 24, 1948, in Medford.

He worked for Pacific Power and Light Company as a communication technician and retired in 1985 after a 35-year career.

Dick was always involved in his church. He was a charter member of Westminister Presbyterian Church and continued as an active member of Eastwood Baptist Church until his passing. He was active in the Boy Scouts for many years while his sons were involved and received the Boy Scouts God and Country award for his service. He loved golfing, camping and spending time with his family. During his retired years he volunteered as a driver for Oregon Senior Services.

Surviving relatives include wife Berniece; son, Steve and wife, Kathy, of Corvallis, son, Paul of Hillsboro; and daughter, Teresa and husband, Gene of Eagle Point; two brothers, Kenneth and wife, Helen of Decator, Georgia, Wayne and wife, Earlene of Central Point; and a close cousin, Doug Meyers and wife, Phyllis of Portland.

He has eight grandchildren, Kimberly Gallagher, her husband, Jaret of Coquille, Michelle Wyatt currently in Galway Ireland, Derek, Cody and Nicholas Wyatt of Hillsboro, Karin and Jason Wegner of Medford. He also has two great grandchildren, Kyle and Katelyn Wegner of Medford and eight nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 22 at 3:00 P.M. at Eastwood Baptist Church, 675 N. Keeneway Dr, Medford. Memorial contributions may be made to Eastwood Baptist Church.

Anita Irene Stanley, 91, of Eagle Point, died Sunday, February 19, 2006 at Linda Vista Care Center in Ashland. Arrangements are being provided by Conger-Morris Funeral Directors of Medford.
