Richard Bert Ackley
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church for Richard Bert Ackley, who died Jan. 21 of cancer at age 74. Mr. Ackley was born Jan. 8, 1927, in Portland. He graduated from Benson Polytechnic School and later attended Multnomah College. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces in Europe. He was an electrical engineer for the Bonneville Power Administration for 32 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the church. In 1950, he married
Lamona McGrady.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Steven and Scott; daughter, Laura Fordney; sister, Shirley Reese; and six grandchildren.
Interment is in Skyline Memorial Gardens. The family suggests remembrances to his church. Arrangements are by Hustad Funeral Home.
Floyd Bryant Sr.
Floyd Bryant Sr. died Jan. 7, 2001, at age 86. A private service was held. Mr. Bryant was born May 27, 1914, in North Little Rock, Ark. He moved to Portland in 1942. He was a railroad worker for the Portland railroad terminal, retiring in the mid-1970s. He married
Veron Johnson; she died in 1990.
Survivors include his sons, Floyd Jr. and Ronald; daughters, Norma J. Whiteside and Cheryl; stepsons, Buddy Collins and Joe Collins; stepdaughter, Evelyn Childers; brother, Alvin; sisters, Rosemary Woods and Hilda Hill; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Interment is in Rose City cemetery. Arrangements are by Vann & Vann Funeral Directors.
Norman R. Burkhardt
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at the club house of RedTail Golf Course in Beaverton for Norman R. Burkhardt, who died Dec. 16, 2000, following surgery at age 75. Mr. Burkhardt was born April 18, 1925, in Salt Lake City. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. He moved to Hillsboro in 1980 and was a self-employed contractor, retiring about 1990.
Survivors include his sons, Randy, Guy, and Brad; daughter, Babette DeSilva; six grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to Doernbecher Children's Hospital.
Agnes I. Cameron
Agnes I. Cameron died Jan. 18, 2001, at age 94. A private service will be held. Mrs. Cameron was born Jan. 6, 1907, in Iona, S.D. Her maiden name was Fenenga. She was raised in South Dakota and attended college there. She moved to South Bend, Wash., in the early 1930s and to Hermiston in the 1940s, where she taught elementary school until her retirement in the early 1970s. She moved to Gresham in 1995. In 1932, she married
Earl T. Cameron; he died in 1989.
Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie Cable and Donna Dughman; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Private interment is in Riverview Abbey Mausoleum.
Harry Victor Cosola
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, in St. Cecilia Catholic Church for Harry Victor Cosola, who died Jan. 19 at age 72. Recitation of the rosary will be at 10 a.m. before the Mass. Mr. Cosola was born March 18, 1928, in Beaverton. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He was a truck driver for Pioneer Fruit in Portland 31 years until retiring . He was a member of the church. In 1979, he married
Joann Schumacher.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Sandra Yoho, Barbara Gocus and Anna Schuler; stepdaughters, Lynn Van Riper, Terri Montgomery and Susan Wright; stepson, Michael Sirianni; sisters, Evelyn Rapp and Edna R. Hecker; 7 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Willamette National cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the Oregon chapter of the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Pegg, Paxson & Springer Chapel.
Mary A. Dunlap
Mary A. Dunlap died Jan. 11, 2001, at age 56. A service will be held in Massachusetts. Mrs. Dunlap was born Jan. 18, 1944, in Lancaster, Pa., where she was raised. She lived in several locations before moving in 1994 from California to Portland, where she was an amateur photographer and owned Mary's Garden Cards. She was a volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul, collecting and cleaning stuffed animals to distribute to needy children. She also donated dog and cat supplies to the Oregon Humane Society and collected eyeglasses for donation to local eye clinics.
Survivors include her sons, Abaxes A. Williams and Alex A. Gonyaw; parents, Walter and Barbara; brother, Walter; sister, Barbara Michael; and three grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the Oregon Humane Society. Arrangements are by Wilhelm Funeral Home.
Glenn Vernon Goding
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, in Milwaukie Lutheran Church for Glenn Vernon Goding, who died Jan. 19 at age 81. Mr. Goding was born Dec. 21, 1919, in Des Moines, Iowa. He moved to Grants Pass as a child and later to Portland, where he graduated from Benson High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He was a central office technician for Pacific Northwest Bell (now Qwest), retiring in 1987. He was a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America and for the Portland Airport, where he greeted international visitors. He was a member of the church. He married
Gladys Nelson in 1949.
Survivors include his wife; son, David; and two grandchildren.
Private interment will be in Rose City cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the memorial fund at his church. Arrangements are by Rose City Funeral Home.
Steven C. Harper
Steven C. Harper died Jan. 9, 2001, apparently of a hemorrhage, at age 51. There will be no service. Mr. Harper was born March 7, 1949, in Eugene. He graduated from Springfield High School and attended Lane Community College. About 1970, he moved to Portland, where he was a bartender in several clubs and lounges.
Survivors include his brothers, Ted and John; and nephews.
Disposition is by cremation. Arrangements are by Omega Funerals & Cremations.
Myrle JoAnn 'Jo' Hayes
Myrle JoAnn "Jo" Hayes died Jan. 11, 2001, at age 63. No service will be held. Mrs. Hayes was born July 15, 1937, in Valley City, N.D., and moved to Portland as a child. Her maiden name was Cooper. She attended Portland schools and for the past decade lived in Tigard, where she worked for the city as an executive secretary. She married
Howard Hayes in 1988.
Survivors include her husband; sons, Jeffrey S. Stiles and Dean P. Stiles; stepdaughter, Lori Kawamura; stepsons, Mark and Lynn; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the Providence St. Vincent Hospice. Arrangements were by American Burial and Cremation.
Adelaide F. Keiper
Adelaide F. Keiper died Jan. 18, 2001, at age 98. No service will be held. Mrs. Keiper was born Feb. 18, 1902, in Bayport, Minn. Her maiden name was Choate. She lived in Minnesota until moving to Wisconsin in 1953. She was a homemaker and moved to Portland in 1997. In 1922, she married
Reuben W. Keiper; he died in 1991.
Survivors include her sons, R. Warren and William; daughters, Audrey Harken and Judy Van Ranst; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to a favorite charity. Arrangements are by Crown Burial & Cremation Service.
Richard E. Lisk
Richard E. Lisk died Jan. 17, 2001, of a heart attack at age 67. No service will be held. Mr. Lisk was born Dec. 24, 1933, in Portland. He graduated from Lincoln High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Korean War. He was a steamfitter out of Local 290 until retiring in 1984. He volunteered as a handyman for the Trask River and Wizard Falls fish hatcheries, and he was a goal judge for the Portland Winter Hawks for the past 25 years. In 1960, he married
Mary Lou Cline.
Survivors include his wife; son, Michael J.; daughter, Kimberly Ramiskey; and five grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are by Waud's Funeral Home in Tillamook.
Irene McGrath
Irene McGrath died Jan. 5, 2001, at age 96. A private service will be held. Mrs. McGrath was born Oct. 29, 1904, in Clinton, Iowa. She lived in Clinton for 82 years before moving to Tigard in 1986. She married
Fulton Brecher in 1924; they later divorced, and he died in 1976. She married
John McGrath in 1947; he died in the early 1980s.
Survivors include her daughter, Gloria Klupenger; son, Richard Brecher; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggest remembrances to Maryville Nursing Home of Beaverton.
Maria Riad Mickail
Maria Riad Mickail died Jan. 8, 2001, at age 80. A funeral service was held. Mrs. Mickail was born April 25, 1920, in Cairo, Egypt, where she was raised. A homemaker, she immigrated in 1983 to Los Angeles and in 1994 moved to Portland. She was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Portland and St. Antonious Coptic Orthodox Church in Hayward, Calif. About 1937, she married
Hakim Elmegrisy; he died in 1974.
Survivors include her daughter, Samira Fabbrichesi; son, Nabil Hakim Elmegrisy; and six grandchildren. Her son Samir Hakim Elmegrisy died in 1993.
Interment was in Douglas Pioneer cemetery. Arrangements are by Mt. Scott Funeral Home.
