Edith Lucile Heckaman

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, in Lincoln Memorial Park for Edith Lucile Heckaman, who died Jan. 7 at age 85. Mrs. Heckaman was born Aug. 17, 1915, in Omaha, Neb. Her maiden name was Zimmer. As a child, she moved to Fresno, Calif., and then to Portland. She was a homemaker. In 1954, she married Rodney Heckaman.

Survivors include her husband.

The family suggests remembrances to Meals-on-Wheels.

Glenda L. Hunter

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, in Bateman-Carroll Funeral Chapel for Glenda L. Hunter, who died Jan. 7 of cancer at age 48. Ms. Hunter was born March 20, 1952, in Portland and lived in Troutdale all her life. She graduated from Reynolds High School and was a lens grinder for Opti-Craft for the past five years. She was a member of Cherry Park Presbyterian Church in Troutdale.

Survivors include her daughter, Casey Zimmerlee; son, Dusty; mother, Lorraine; brothers, Michael and Dennis; sisters, Sandra Mosher, Delores Simmons, Barbara Nichols and Judy Ritchey; and two grandchildren.

Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park.

Delia S. Kohlenberger

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, in Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes for Delia S. Kohlenberger, who died Jan. 5 at age 99. Mrs. Kohlenberger was born Aug. 15, 1901, in Baldwin, Ill. Her maiden name was Spitz. She lived in Chicago before returning to Baldwin and was a homemaker and a school cafeteria cook before retiring in about 1948. She moved to Portland in 1996. In 1923, she married John R. Kohlenberger; he died in 1984.

Survivors include her son, John Jr.; brother, Otto Spitz; seven grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Her daughter Virginia Oglesbee died in about 1957, and her daughter Jane Painter died in 1996.

Interment will be in Englehardt-Spitz Family cemetery in Baldwin. The family suggests remembrances to the Oregon Humane Society.

Doris H. Krauspe

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, in St. Luke Lutheran Church for Doris H. Krauspe, who died Jan. 4 at age 93. Mrs. Krauspe was born Jan. 9, 1907, in Spokane. Her maiden name was Linton. She graduated from Oregon Normal School and taught at Wishram Elementary School in Wishram, Wash., for nine years. She moved in 1947 to Portland, where she was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was a past president of the Oregon Federation of Garden Clubs and the retirees' association of Burlington Northern Railroad. In 1934, she married Carl Krauspe; he died in 1974.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna L. Metz; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Private interment will be in Finley's Sunset Hills Memorial Park. The family suggests remembrances to St. Luke Lutheran Church for its social ministry. Arrangements are by Finley's Sunset Hills Mortuary.

Ira RayDL Laws

A memorial picnic is pending for Ira RayDL Laws, who died Dec. 30, 2000, at age 65. Mr. Laws was born May 27, 1935, in Chester, Ark. He was a shipping and receiving clerk for Barker Furniture from 1960 to 1980 and a custodian for Gresham High School from 1980 until his retirement in 1995. He was president in 1976 and a board member during the 1980s of the Oregon Rabbit Growers. He was president of Cabinet Makers Local 1090 of the AFL-CIO during the 1970s and of the Cascade Wildlife Club. He married Margit Nordahl in 1960.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Lance and Joe; daughters, Teresa French, Kelly Ward, Karen Chase, Lisa McMillan and Cindy Lunsden; brothers, Bob, Elmer and Tim; sisters, Jean Paschall, Ruth Shupp, Pauletta Shaver and Peggy Breshears; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. His son Alan died in 1986.

The family suggests remembrances to Kaiser Permanente Hospice. Arrangements are by Sunnyside Little Chapel of the Chimes.

Eugene J. LeGall

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 17140 S.W. Bany Road, Beaverton, for Eugene J. LeGall, who died Jan. 6 at age 86. Mr. LeGall was born May 18, 1914, in Portland. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and as a young man served in the U.S. Navy. He was an oil worker for Atlantic Richfield for 35 years, retiring in 1976. He lived in Hillsboro since 1963. In 1940, he married Dorothy Karns.

Survivors include his wife; son, Raymond; daughter, Judith Morse; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Valley Memorial Park in Hillsboro. Arrangements are by Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home.

Sylvia Liswig

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, in Peake Memorial Chapel for Sylvia Liswig, who died Jan. 5 at age 85. Mrs. Liswig was born Oct. 18, 1915, on a farm in North Dakota. Her maiden name was Verworn. She was a homemaker and had lived in Portland since 1949. Her husband, Edwin Liswig, died in 1985.

Survivors include her sons, Harold Zimmerman, Garold Zimmerman and Lloyd Zimmerman; daughter, Mary Dodd; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Interment is in Willamette National cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the American Cancer Society.

Ardith L. Pavlacky

Ardith L. Pavlacky died Jan. 3, 2001, at age 78. A private service will be held. Mrs. Pavlacky was born Sept. 8, 1922, in Kansas City, Mo. Her maiden name was Roberts. She moved to Portland from Mountain Home, Idaho, in 1976, and was a bookkeeper for Sunbeam Appliances for three years and then was a receptionist in the printing office of Portland State University until retiring in 1990 when she moved to Shawnee, Wyo. In 1952, she married Erwin G. Pavlacky; he died in October.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia; sons, Tony Pavlacky, Kenyon Pavlacky, Tom Hayes and Joe Hayes; sisters, Phyllis Durkopp and Evelyn Padgett; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to any Native American charity. Arrangements are by Crown Cremation & Funeral Services.

Paul Martin Priebe Sr.

Paul Martin Priebe Sr. died Dec. 31, 2000, of Alzheimer's disease at age 87. No service will be held. Mr. Priebe was born March 27, 1913, in Oregon, Mo. He joined the U.S. Army Air Forces as a young man and served in Europe and Africa during World War II and in the Korean War. He retired in 1964 as a chief master sergeant. He lived in Gladstone for the past 20 years. In 1942, he married Margaret Duscheck.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Roxanne Whitmire; son, Paul M. Jr.; brother, Max; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Willamette National cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the Oregon Humane Society. Arrangements are by Wilhelm Funeral Home.

Elfie Mary Richards

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, in Mission, Texas, for Elfie Mary Richards, who died Jan. 7 at age 88. Mrs. Richards was born May 7, 1912, in Burkmere, S.D. Her maiden name was Stoddard. She was a telephone operator for AT&T; in South Dakota and several towns in Montana for 33 years before retiring in 1963. In 1986, she moved to Portland. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, a volunteer secretary and teacher for the American Jail Association and its volunteer of the year in the early 1990s. She served on the advisory board of Northwest Pilot Project for about five years. She moved to Mission in 1996. In 1953, she married Tony Richards; he died in 1995.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah M. Cruz; and two grandchildren.

Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to Northwest Pilot Project. Arrangements are by Ric Brown Funeral Home in Mission.

Merle Grace Rood

Merle Grace Rood died Dec. 14, 2000, at age 85. A private service will be held. Mrs. Rood was born Aug. 19, 1915, in Vonda, Saskatchewan. Her birth name was Muriel Grace Thompson. She immigrated to Tacoma in 1916, where she was raised. She moved to Grants Pass in 1949. She was a homemaker. She received the Silver Poet award from the American Poetry Society in 1986. She moved to Portland in 1991. In 1943, she married Ray Randolph Rood; he died in 1976.

Survivors include her daughters, Betha Jacks, Merrylee Kruger, Sharon Hughes and Joy Polk; sons, Ray C., David and Paul; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Disposition is by cremation. Private interment will be in Douglass Pioneer cemetery in Gresham. The family suggests remembrances to Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry, P.O. Box 908, Bellmawr, NJ 08099. Arrangements are by American Burial & Cremation.

Henry 'Hank' Roush

A memorial gathering will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at 80641 Lower Nehalem Road in Seaside, the home of Henry "Hank" Roush, who died Jan. 2 at age 58. Mr. Roush was born July 18, 1942, in Boulder, Colo. He served in the U.S. Navy. He lived in Eagle Creek from 1989 until moving to Seaside five years ago. He was a general contractor in commercial construction. In 1996, he married Carol Porter.

Survivors include his wife; son, Rick; daughter, Renee Edmonds; mother, Effie; brothers, Rodney and Ernest; and six grandchildren.

Disposition is by cremation. Arrangements are by Heritage Memorial.

Nina L. Stewart

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, in Gable & Parkrose Funeral Chapel for Nina L. Stewart, who died Jan. 6 at age 87. Mrs. Stewart was born May 16, 1913, in Kettle Falls, Wash., and moved to Portland about 1940. Her maiden name was Latourette. She worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 26 years, retiring as a supervisory statistical assistant in the late 1970s, and she was a past president of two chapters of the American Business Women's Association. She lived in Keizer for the past three years. In 1943, she married Charles Frank Trullinger; he died in 1957. She married Earl Stewart in 1973; he died in 1975.

Survivors include four nephews and three nieces.

Interment is in Mountain View cemetery in Oregon City. The family suggests remembrances to the Alzheimer's Association.
