Irene 'Billie' McQuilkin

A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, in Tigard Rehabilitation Center, 14145 S.W. 105th Ave., Tigard, for Irene "Billie" McQuilkin, who died Nov. 2 at age 85. Mrs. McQuilkin was born Jan. 21, 1915, in Bluffton, Ohio. Her maiden name was Storer. She moved to California as a child, where she was raised. She was a secretary for the Lockheed Air Corp. in Burbank, Calif., during World War II. She was a homemaker who moved to Lake Oswego in 1978 and to Tigard in 1988. In 1968, she married Harry McQuilkin.

Survivors include her husband; and daughter, Suzanne Masten.

Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Young's Funeral Home.

Marietta Oliverio

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, in Holy Family Catholic Church for Marietta Oliverio, who died Nov. 2 at age 100. A recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, in Portland Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Oliverio was born Sept. 8, 1900, in Serra Pedace, Italy. Her maiden name was Bendicente. She was raised in Italy and immigrated to New York City in 1947 and, shortly thereafter, moved to Portland. She was a homemaker and a member of the church. In 1919, she married Eugenio Oliverio; he died in 1972.

Survivors include her son, Achille; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Portland Memorial Mausoleum. The family suggests remembrances to a charity of choice.

Edna B. Parke

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, in Hillside Chapel for Edna B. Parke, who died Nov. 3 at age 85. Mrs. Parke was born Jan. 22, 1915, in Ogden, Utah, where she was raised. Her maiden name was Bingham. She was a beautician in Ogden and later a secretary for an architect until she moved in 1968 to Portland. She also was a volunteer beautician in nursing homes in Utah. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1944, she married William J. Parke; he died in 1999.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy Bohlen; and brother, Merlin Bingham.

Interment will be in St. John's cemetery in Oregon City.

Charlotte Mae Sell

Charlotte Mae Sell died Oct. 30, 2000, at age 97. A memorial service was held. Mrs. Sell was born Aug. 31, 1903, in Boone, Iowa, and was raised in Superior, Wis. Her maiden name was Conner. She moved to Oregon City from Chicago in 1960 and was a homemaker. She was a member of the church.

Survivors include her sons, Cliff, Art and Bob; 19 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Her daughter, Laura Beck, died in 1995, and her son Norman R. died in September.

Disposition was by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to a favorite charity. Arrangements were by Crown Burial & Cremation.

Samuel Parker Sindlinger

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lake Oswego for Samuel Parker Sindlinger, who died Nov. 2 at age 6. Samuel was born Aug. 24, 1994. He was a student at Hallinan Elementary School in Lake Oswego. He was a member of the church.

Survivors include his parents, Matthew and Lisa; sister, Sarah; brother, Joseph; grandmother, Patricia Flores; grandparents, William and Joan Sindlinger; and great-grandmother, Mildred Buxton.

Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the children's memorial fund at his church. Arrangements are by Portland Funeral Alternatives.

Dominick Ralph Todaro

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Tigard for Dominick Ralph Todaro, who died Nov. 2 at age 91. Mr. Todaro was born June 17, 1909, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was raised in New York City, where he worked for the Department of Sanitation for more than 25 years, retiring as administrator in 1968.

He moved to Tigard in 1986 and to Kirkland, Wash., earlier this year. He was a founding member of the Columbia Association (now the Italian-American Association of New York City). He was a member of the church. In 1937, he married Mabel Huebner; she died in 1993.

Survivors include his son, John "Jack" and William "Bill"; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Mt. St. Mary's cemetery in New York City. The family suggests remembrances to his church. Arrangements are by Young's Funeral Home.

John W. Abel Jr.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, in Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Forest Grove for John W. Abel Jr., who died Oct. 31 at age 77. Mr. Abel was born June 3, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo., and was raised in Beaverton. He graduated from Beaverton High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Philippines. After the war, he moved to Hazel Park, Mich., and was a tool and dye maker for Chrysler until his retirement in 1988. He moved to Cornelius in August. In 1973, he married Rosa Kelly; she died in 1988.

Survivors include his sons, John W. III and Patrick R.; stepdaughter, Barbara Weatherburn; sisters, Louise Neubarth, Erma Seiffert and Ruth Green; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements are by Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home.

Joel Daniel Bass

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, in Harvest Community Church for Joel Daniel Bass, who died Oct. 27 at age 15 of a rare degenerative metabolic disease. Joel was born April 11, 1985, in Hillsboro. He attended Evergreen Middle School and was a member of the church.

Survivors include his parents, Fred and Wendy; brother, Aaron; sister, Jessica; grandparents, Phyllis Bass and Larry and Dodie Soderholm; and great-grandparents, Robert Tipton and Esther Soderholm.

Disposition was by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to a memorial fund in his name at West Coast Bank. Arrangements are by Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home.

Mary Lou D. 'Mel' Stevens

Mary Lou D. "Mel" Stevens died Oct. 3, 2000, at age 59. Ms. Stevens was born May 20, 1941, in New York. A jazz singer, she lived in Florida before moving in 1986 to the Portland area.

Survivors include her sons, Jason Napier and Justin Mikiten; brother, Arthur; and one granddaughter.

Disposition was by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were by Westside Cremation Service.

M. Lee Pope

M. Lee Pope died Oct. 20, 2000, at age 80. No service will be held. Mr. Pope was born Nov. 21, 1919, in Tulsa, Okla. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe. He then lived in Portland, was a parts buyer for Interstate Tractor & Equipment and Halton, and moved to Gleneden Beach after retiring in 1982. In 1946, he married Marjorie Ledbetter Dees; she died in 1966.

Survivors include his daughter, Dianna; son, Marvin; sister, Frances James; companion, Mary Cox; and three grandchildren.

Interment will be in Willamette National cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to any organization that works toward preserving fish and wildlife habitat. Arrangements were by Pacific View Memorial Chapel in Lincoln City.

Alexander Levitsky

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, in Gevurtz Chapel in Ahavai Sholom cemetery for Alexander Levitsky, who died Oct. 31 at age 75. Mr. Levitsky was born Dec. 10, 1924, near Kiev, Ukraine. During World War II, he fought with the Russian army. He immigrated in 1978 to the United States and moved to Portland, where he was a warehouseman for Calbag Metals until retiring in 1992. He was a member of Congregation Neveh Shalom. In 1953, he married Alexandria Dranovskaya.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Michael, Eugene and Stan; and four grandchildren.

The family suggests remembrances to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Holman's Funeral Service.

Ronald Emil Dachtler

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, in Milwaukie First Baptist Church for Ronald Emil Dachtler, who died Oct. 29 at age 63 of complications following lung cancer surgery. Mr. Dachtler was born Feb. 15, 1937, in Bend. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army in Greenland. He moved in 1961 to the Portland area and worked for Northwest Textbook Depository until retiring in 1997 as its operations manager. In 1958, he married Dorane McColley.

Survivors include his wife; sons, R. Scott and Shawn P.; and three grandchildren.

Interment will be in Willamette National cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the Gales Creek Camp Foundation, which is for children with diabetes. Arrangements are by Lincoln Willamette Funeral Directors.

Warren Kenneth Crutcher

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, in Bateman Carroll Funeral Chapel in Gresham for Warren Kenneth Crutcher, who died Oct. 28 at age 73. Mr. Crutcher was born July 2, 1927, in Sandy. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a production manager for Oregon Bulb Farm in Sandy, retiring in 1976. He raised prize-winning begonias and lilies. In the 1990s, he owned Crutcher's Colors Nursery in Redland., where he lived for 10 years. He trained chickens and rabbits who wore pioneer costumes and appeared with him on local television programs, such as Ray Summers segments on the KOIN-TV news.

Survivors include his sons, Ryan, Randall and Ronald; daughter, LeAnn; brother, Edwin L.; sisters, Patricia VonBorstel and Phyllis Goodin; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Willamette National cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to Redland Grade School.
