John L. 'Bert' Springer
A gathering will be Sunday, April 8, 2001, in his Las Vegas home for John L. "Bert" Springer, who died March 24 at age 67.
Mr. Springer was born May 30, 1933, in Detroit, Mich. He graduated from Lewis & Clark College and was a partner in the Canyon Club and the Holiday Inn at the Coliseum. He later managed resorts in Arizona and California and developed and managed resorts for Indian tribes, including Kah-Nee-Ta on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. In 1995, he married
Christine Gresham.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Kurt, Kent and John; daughters, Leslie Springer, Carol Keefe and Christe Gibbs; and six grandchildren.

Inez LaRayne Tallard
Inez LaRayne Tallard died April 1, 2001, at age 71.
Mrs. Tallard was born Inez LaRayne Curtis on July 11, 1929, in Montevideo, Minn. She moved to Vancouver, Wash., in the 1950s and to Portland in 1959. She was a homemaker and was an assistant librarian for the Sandy Public Library for several years. In 1959, she married
Charles Tallard; he died in 1998.
Survivors include her daughter, Tamara Lee; sons, Terrance Hawkins and Curtis; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her son Harland died in 1990.

Farrell Worth White
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2001, in Donelson Sewell & Mathews Mortuary for Farrell Worth White, who died April 4 at age 83.
Mr. White was born Nov. 23, 1917, in Nezperce, Idaho. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He moved to Portland in 1937 and was a field service representative for Freightliner for 32 years, retiring in 1982. In 1938, he married
Pearl Harrington.
Survivors include his wife; son, Charles; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. His daughter, Patricia Watts, died in 1990.

Laura Lorane Whitney
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2001, in New Life Christian Center in Milwaukie for Laura Lorane Whitney, who died April 5 at age 77.
Mrs. Whitney was born Laura Lorane Mitchell on April 19, 1923, in Lorane. She was raised in the Eugene area and lived in the Milwaukie and Oregon City areas since 1984. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was a bookkeeper for a lumber company until her retirement.
Survivors include her son, Michael M.; daughter, Yvonne M. Crowe; sister, Ann Caig; brother, Jake Mitchell; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Anne Alice Wilcox
A funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2001, in Canby Funeral Chapel for Anne Alice Wilcox, who died April 5 at age 93.
Mrs. Wilcox was born Anne Alice Beuzenburg on June 6, 1907, in Brant, N.Y. She graduated from the University of Michigan and taught high school before becoming a homemaker. She moved to Portland area in 1945 and to King City in 1980. In 1934, she married
Norman C. Wilcox.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Saundra Huftalin and Lois Lin; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Velma Calista Winningham
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001, in Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn for Velma Calista Winningham, who died April 3 at age 73.
Mrs. Winningham was born Velma Calista Sasser on March 22, 1928, in Enterprise. She lived in Alaska and Texas before moving to Lake Grove in the early 1960s, then lived in Vancouver, Wash., and Hubbard. She was a waitress and also worked on the family pig farm. In 1955, she married
Obie Winningham; he died in 1976.
Survivors include her son, Clay; daughters, Sharon Taylor and Johnnie Burt; and four grandchildren.
Interment in Willamette National cemetery. Remembrances to Mid-Willamette Valley Hospice.
Richard Schubert Arnold
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001, in Christ Church Episcopal in Lake Oswego for Richard Schubert Arnold, who died April 1 at age 62. Mr. Arnold was born Aug. 22, 1938, in Klamath Falls. He graduated from Medford High School and from Lewis & Clark College. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1971, he moved to Lake Oswego, and was a sales representative for various businesses and later a wine steward for Willamette Valley Vineyards until retiring in 2000. He was junior warden, subdeacon and Eucharistic minister of his church. He was a member of the One More Time Around Again Marching Band. In 1960, he married
Gail Leitch.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Todd S. and Colin W.

Billy L. Aschenbrener
Billy L. Aschenbrener died March 31, 2001, at age 74. Mr. Aschenbrener was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Oregon City. He graduated from Oregon City High School and attended the Portland Art Museum School. He worked for Sawyer's Viewmaster for 41 years until retiring in 1985. He bred and exhibited collies and was a dog-show judge for 50 years.
He is survived by his partner, Dennis J. Day.
No service. Interment at Riverview Abbey Mausoleum. Remembrances to the Oregon Humane Society.
Catherine Bastasch
A funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, in St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Portland for Catherine Bastasch, who died April 3 at age 86. Mrs. Bastasch was born Catherine Hagerty on Feb. 11, 1915, in Lampman, Saskatchewan. She moved to Portland in 1929. She graduated from Holy Child Academy and was a homemaker. In 1939, she married
William Bastasch.
Survivors include her husband; son, Robert; daughters, Judy Poutre, Joan Ney and Mitzie Forsland; and seven grandchildren.

Dolores J. Bauer
Dolores J. Bauer died April 2, 2001, at age 70. Mrs. Bauer was born Dolores Taylor on Oct. 10, 1930, in Seattle. She was raised in Portland and graduated from Jefferson High School. She worked for 30 years as an office specialist in the Montgomery Ward credit department in Beaverton, retiring in 1992. She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Portland. In 1959, she married
Vernon A. Bauer; he died in 1997.
Survivors include her nephew, Terry Taylor, and his wife, Andrea.

Chuck Bodie
Chuck Bodie died March 31, 2001, at age 72. Mr. Bodie was born in Oakley, S.C., on Nov. 15, 1928. He moved to the Portland area in 1950. Mr. Bodie served in the U.S. Navy and the Air Force in World War II and the Korean War. He was manager of environmental services at Tuality Community Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1990. He was an OSU Extension master gardener. He married
Beverly Schwartz in 1952.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; sons, Mike and Steve; sisters, Dorothy Able, Shirley Watkins, Edith Jernigan and Patsy Skipper; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Robert Elvis Boylan
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, in St. Mary's of Guadalupe cemetery in Ridgefield, Wash., for Robert Elvis Boylan, who died March 19 at age 34. Mr. Boylan was born Jan. 21, 1967, in Kelso, Wash. He was a roofer for Jerry's Roofing and Cecil's Exteriors in Vancouver, Wash. In 1992, he married
