Betty Jean Fiddaman
Betty Jean Fiddaman died Nov. 14 at age 80. A private graveside service will be held. Mrs. Fiddaman was born Oct. 17, 1920, in Portland and was raised in Westport and Springfield. Her maiden name was Sproul. In 1938, she returned to Portland, where she was a homemaker. In 1940, she married
David Spaulding; he died in 1976. She married
Lester Fiddaman in 1976; he died in 1995.
Survivors include her son, James Spaulding; daughter, Cathy Anderson; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Her daughter Gail Dodd died earlier.
Interment will be in River View cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are by Mt. Scott Funeral Home.
A memorial gathering will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, in the Lincoln City Community Center in Lincoln City for James McKee Foster, who died Nov. 10 of congestive heart failure at age 73, and his wife, Margaret Olive "Peggy" Foster, who died the next day of lung disease at age 69.
Mr. Foster was born June 11, 1927, in Forest Grove. From 1945 to 1947, he served in the U.S. Army. He drove trucks for Industrial Air, Airco and Liquid Carbonics before retiring in 1989.
Mrs. Foster was born July 4, 1931, in Butte, Mont. Her maiden name was Orr. She moved to Portland in the late 1940s and was a data processor for Pacific Northwest Bell, Airco and Green Meadows Country Club in Vancouver, Wash., where she retired in 1993.
They were married
in 1967, and and moved to Lincoln City from Vancouver in 1993.
Mr. Foster is survived by his sons, Jim C., Brad and Steve; daughter, Carol Chapman; sister, Carrie Campbell; and stepmother, Evelyn Knowles. Mrs. Foster is survived by her daughters, Sandra Lee and Cheryl Voorhees; and sister, Mary Phillips
Between both families, they have 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. Arrangements are by Pacific View Memorial Chapel in Lincoln City.
Anna Marie George
A service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, in Willamette National cemetery for Anna Marie George, who died Nov. 13 at age 89. Mrs. George was born Aug. 1, 1911, in Calgary, Alberta. She was raised in Portland. Her maiden name was Schukart. As a 13-year-old, she went to work in a laundry, and later she was a homemaker. In 1930, she married
Charles George; he died in 1980.
Survivors include her son, Robert A.; sister, Violet Kirchner; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family suggests remembrances to a favorite charity. Arrangements are by Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes.
Aimo Herman 'Fred' Green
Aimo Herman "Fred" Green died Nov. 7, 2000, at age 84. No service will be held. Mr. Green was born June 1, 1916, in Raymond, Wash. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He moved in 1945 to Milwaukie and was a self-employed real-estate agent and broker until retiring in 1998. He married
Evelyn Edris in 1996.
Survivors include his wife and son, Larry.
Disposition was by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the Providence Hospice Program. Arrangements were by Wilhelm Funeral Home.
Jean Cecelia Hartzell
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, in New Hope Community Church for Jean Cecelia Hartzell, who died Nov. 16 at age 80. Mrs. Hartzell was born Aug. 2, 1920, in Monmouth and was raised in Portland and several other cities in the area. Her maiden name was Canterbury. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1939 and was a homemaker and a member of Hinson Memorial Baptist Church. In 1942, she married
Ira "Ted" Hartzell; he died in 1996.
Survivors include her son, Ted; daughters, Barbara Handzlik, Janet Beltz and Brenda Palmer; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Willamette National cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to Union Gospel Mission. Arrangements are by Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
June A. Jossy
A memorial service will be at noon Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, in the Yakima Arboretum for June A. Jossy, who died Nov. 8 at age 81. Mrs. Jossy was born July 16, 1919, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and was raised there and in several locations in Oregon. Her maiden name was Griffin. She graduated from Grant High School in Portland and from the University or Oregon in 1942. She moved in 1955 to Portland and sold real estate for several companies for 25 years until retiring from Cogdell Construction in the 1980s. She moved in 1998 to Yakima. In 1940, she married
Boyd H. Jossy; he died in 1999.
Survivors include her daughters, Roi Jossy-Funk and Leslie Pease; sister, Bonnie Allen; and two grandchildren.
Disposition was by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the Yakima Arboretum, 1401 Arboretum Dr., Yakima, WA 98901. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.
David Kaur Pal
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, in Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Vancouver, Wash., for David Kaur Pal, who died Nov. 11 in Seattle at age 55. Mr. Pal was born Dec. 5, 1944, in Fiji. He was a carpenter and Sunday school teacher in Fiji before immigrating in 1993 to Vancouver, where he was a member of Glad Tidings Church. He married
Raj Kumari.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Ayub Khan and Phillip Chandra; daughter, Magdalena M.; brothers, Danny Lal and Yogesh Kumar; sisters, Lila Wati, Rana Wati, Louis Rana, Vimla Patel and Pingala Dollton; and four grandchildren.
Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Vance Peterson
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, in Valley View Memorial Park in Newberg for Vance Peterson, who died Nov. 16 of cancer at age 76. Mr. Peterson was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Waukegan, Ill., and was raised in McGregor, Minn. He served in the U.S. Army in Asia during World War II. In 1949, he moved to Newberg and in 1951, to Portland, where he was a supervisor for Portland Bottling Co. for 35 years before retiring in 1987. In 1951, he married
Ruth Darline Hedgecock.
Survivors include his wife; son, Daniel; daughters, Connie Parish and Patty Deas; brothers, Doug and Larry; and four grandchildren.

Leon Pike
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, in St. Clare Catholic Church for Leon Pike, who died Nov. 14 at age 76. Mr. Pike was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Holly, Colo. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe and was awarded a Purple Heart and Silver Star. He graduated from Humboldt State College in Arcata, Calif., and received a master's degree from the University of Iowa. In 1961, he moved to Portland, where he taught theater arts for Lewis & Clark College for 25 years before his retirement as a professor in 1986. A member of the church, he was also a member of the Mission of the Atonement and was a founder of St. Clare's Peace and Justice Committee. He helped found Theater 21 in the late 1960s and directed it until the mid-1980s. In 1950, he married
Meredith "Becky" Beck; she died in 1998. He married
Dorothy Aland in 1999.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Cynthia Emerick, Andrea Garner, Jayna Locke and Chris Pike-Nobile; son, Jerry; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to a scholarship in his name at Lewis & Clark College. Arrangements are by Autumn Funerals & Cremations.
Rudolph W. Quale
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, in Milwaukie Lutheran Church for Rudolph W. "Rudy" Quale, who died Nov. 12 at age 94. Mr. Quale was born July 6, 1906, in Charlson, N.D. He moved in 1923 to Milwaukie and attended Milwaukie High School. A pipe fitter and diesel mechanic, he worked for Alaska Junk for 10 years, was a foreman for Carroll Machinery for 20 years and was a machine operator for McCracken Machinery for five years before his retirement in 1969. He was a member and trustee of the church. In 1940, he married
Astri Fallem; she died in 1983.
Survivors include his daughters, Sandra Schwabauer and Alice Clark; sons, Andrew and Thomas; brother, Fred; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park. The family suggests remembrances to his church. Arrangements are by Mt. Scott Funeral Home.
Roger Dick Radke
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, in the Woodburn Elks Lodge for Roger Dick Radke, who died Nov. 13 of cancer at age 72. Mr. Radke was born Aug. 2, 1928, in Garrison, N.D., and moved to Keizer at age 14. He was in the merchant marine during World War II and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 until the mid-1950s. He worked in the parts department of a Salem Pontiac dealership for 28 years, until 1982, then lived in Anchorage, Alaska, before moving to Woodburn nine years ago. In 1977, he married
Doris Fry Valdez.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Karen Thompson; sons, Randy and James; stepdaughters, Linda Valdez, Christy Valdez and Debi Martin; stepsons, Butch Valdez, Rick Valdez and Jeff Valdez; brothers, W.C. and Gary; sister, Janice Hooge; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Willamette National cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to Mid-Willamette Valley Hospice in Salem. Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn.
Hazel M. Stowell
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, in Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home for Hazel M. Stowell, who died Nov. 11 at age 93. Mrs. Stowell was born Dec. 17, 1906, in Rye Valley. Her maiden name was Justus. She moved to Buxton about 1931, and to Hillsboro last March. A homemaker, she worked in the cookhouse for a Rye Valley gold mine, was a seasonal strawberry picker and a cannery worker for Ray-Maling and Banks Frozen Foods. In 1927, she married
Carl Wolff; they were later divorced. She married
Otto Stowell in 1941; he died in 1989.
Survivors include her sons, Arnold K. Wolff, Anson E. "Butch" and William S. "Bill"; brothers, Ben Justus and Alva Justus; sister, Erma Johnson; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Buxton cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the American Cancer Society.
